He chickened out and doesn't want to face what happens next. Anyway it gets better from 50. I really liked the…
luckily it got better. but still, for me that's like 20 episodes wasted over petty things. JC was such a great character earlier on!

JC lost his sensibility the moment he took out his stone heart to get that thingy magica to save LX's life, as…
i love him for taking huge risks to save LX. i particularly love him for going to the extent of exchanging his heart for her life. up until that point everything was amazing. not util JX came in the picture and the love war starts. everything went downhill from then on. such a shame because i was really in awe of his sacrifices for LX in the earlier episodes.

When watching any asian fantasy you can't use modern logic and social standards to explain how the world works.…
it is exactly because they are gods that they're not supposed to do what human beings do. they should be more rational because the humans look up to them. anyway, what i was trying to say is JC in the earlier episode was more rational then him in episode where i commented above. LX got into trouble time and again in the earlier episode and JC cleverly saved her. when LX was in the mortal world, JC watched her from a distance and helped her secretly i find that to be more meaningful than him being around her all the time and worst, fighting over her with another man. Yun Fen and Si Ming are childish too, but they got their priorities right.

i'm at episode 46 and already losing my patience with this drama. up until episode 30 or so i was really enjoying the drama that i thought it was way better than TMOPB. there were a lot of "awww" moments and i love AMo's story but after AMo left her family, everything went downhill for me. the story progressed really really really slowly that it bored me to death.

i love JC for his character but the moment he stayed with AMo he lost his sensibility. you're the god of war for god's sake don't you have greater responsibility to do? and then there's JX..... *2x face palm* what even??? the love triangle is so out of place and annoying!! and AMo is always crying *sigh*.

after a while i don't find everything that JC did as sweet or heartwarming or whatever because the story became repetitive.. i reeaaalllyyyy want to drop this drama but i'm too far in. this will be the last time ill ever watch fantasy drama of this sort. TMOPB was the first fantasy drama that i watched and changed my perspective on this kind of dramas but it'll end here. i was never really into fantasy but occasionally i just wanted to try out new genre .

also JC said he wanted to keep AMo accompany because he wanted her to know that whatever it is he will be by her side (sort of like that) and next thing you know he just left without an explanation leaving AMo in confusion and then he came back again. where's the logic??!!

Baek Yi Hyun is a very complex character to pull off but YSH nailed it so effortlessly! He has this straight face expression that makes u despise and sympathize with him at the same time. he's just perfect for the role. Another actor that can pull off such character is Yoo Ah In. He was brilliant as Yi Bang Won in Six Flying Dragons. they would make a great pair as siblings in imperial court fight.

I find BYH and YBW to have similar traits of split personality. They are nice people but they also have this beasts inside them that can be contained unless triggered by something. sometimes i wonder if that is a disorder? Because serial killers don't just become serial killers overnight. They have that violent traits since young or driven by circumstances. Now we can diagnose it with disorder or mental illness or stress, but those days they would just be labelled as heartless crazy men.

i loved mr. sunshine so i am excited to start this one, haha!
i hope romance is not your main focus. unlike mr.sunshine which focus quite heavily on romance, this has very minimal romance. other than that u should be excited!!

How so? I heard it was pretty good, although the reviews focused more on the great cinematography and the setting.
yeah i heard tvn is quite reputable. it is a pity for good dramas like this to have less attention! it is not romance focused, but the romance is pretty good too..... but that's okay at least we have a hidden gem like this every once in a while.

I rated mr.sunshine an 8 but after wathing this i feel like that drama doesnt deserve an 8 at all (maybe because i was blinded by the bromance and Byun Yo Han then). The setting n cinematography is pretty with really good acting but that's just about it. The plot and character build ups are not as good as this one. It's hard not to compare because theyre about the same timeline. Plus this drama doesnt get the attention it deserved which is so frustrating!

That's why that called series and this is drama.
Exactly, bcause this will be made into 3 parts is what I’m concerned about. You know that feeling when you’re already invested in a drama but you have to wait for the next part... that kinda spoils the mood that you’re already in. I wonder why is there even a need to divide it into parts for the hype given the reputation of the writers and actors. Ahhh I’m just too sceptical about it.

In many aspects it is better saguek than Mr Sunshine. It's better written, the characters are deeper, the main…
Exactly! I personally find mr.sunshine as pointless because at the end of the drama I was like “what was all the commotion and killing for?” Nothing was resolved. They focused too much on romance. Everything in this drama is what I have been looking for in saeguks since Rebel Thief!!!

I feel like you need all of these type of characters in a series. Some ppl understand the grey area like MJP since…
Yea but it became too boring for me. Unlike cdrama where the main characters are usually grey characters which is more realistic. For instance, the king may be ruthless, but he knows how to run the country, or abandon his subordinates if necessary for a greater cause. In real life, there is no one who is 100% nice or 100% bad because we draw lines. Say if we really want to help someone but are incapable, we take a step back and that person has to fend for him/herslelf. But in kdrama, the ML always finds a way to help someone and miraculously managed to get through all the time even if it is impossible or ridiculous to do so. I’m talking about kdrama in general not just this one.

Towards the end, the ML did grow for a bit, but even that didn’t change his image as this super intelligent super nice kinda guy. So far I have only seen a few good saeguks with grey characters. It is a rarity these days.

The reason why i really like Cdrama n kdrama is because of the length. There’s ample time for characters development. I do not like at all watching western series because they’re super short and disjointed. Like each episode has its own main plot to tell. And they span over 4 to 5 years. sometimes It took 4 seasons for a character to develop zzzzzz..... Whereas Asian dramas are continuous. In short, the western series do not give me the same emotional impact as I have with Asian dramas. Which is why I’m very disappointed knowing that this will be divided into parts. 18 episodes is already short for me (I’ve grown accustomed to the super long cdrama) but 6?? I’ll just wait for the whole thing to finish airing.

I was reaaaallyyy looking forward to the writers new project. They write really good stuff!!! SFD n QSD being top on my list. I need 50 episodes of good saegukkkkkkkkkk :((((

Min Jin hun is the best character in this drama!! I love how he was initially against Lee Geum and eventually put his differences aside and worked with the opposition and the later crowned emperor!!! Everything he said is the truth about politics. I wish saeguks would portray more of grey character like Min Jin Hun instead of the typical white character like Lee Geum and black character like Mil Poong.
The acting and directing are all on point. The plot was kinda.. meh,, 24 episodes is just too long. Too draggy and too many fillers. Not a fan of the romance either. Soo I was not emotionally invested. Hence a 7.5 rating.
