In ~epi 20, I'm so angry that Prince Qi abandoned his sister! 😡 What the heck after all that she did for him?!? Terrible.
But, the most annoying character is empress dowager, gawd her voice is sooo domineering & grating UGH. Good on her son to issue a secret edict, then when he passes, she will too! 😤

I felt the same as you, I was so thrilled and excited watching after each ep aired, would come here to share the joy but found mostly differing (to put it mildly) opinions and so would question whether we watched the same thing, lol. I was completely hooked into the story and loved all the characters. It's not perfect but a highly entertaining ride nonetheless! Not easy for a cdrama to achieve...like Pursuit of Jade which I loved in the beginning but it just got so ridiculous in the final arc and what was up with that final moment in the alternate ending?!? At least the ending here made sense and consistent with our main couple's principles. So, you are not alone in your MDL experience!
Finished! First impressions - The ending was pretty satisfying and makes sense, the story overall was exciting, like easily I could binge all episodes over a weekend, and the acting was really good. I only saw CZY in Fated Hearts... here he played a more restrained character but still brimming with passion & emotion. Loved his performance! Actually the entire cast did great. Fun watch for me 9/10.
The actor that plays Shen family's father is soo goood...he was excellent as emperor CZY's father in Fated Hearts too. The Shen family scenes so heartwarming after Zhi Shu came back..

I did see that later! But what the heck did he expect from that lol? The outcome would have been her death?!? I guess he was desperate to separate them...but with the reform, she was ok...so what was his motive exactly?
