Ep 25 - omg it feels like so much happened! I am right now pausing on Lin Grandfather's face of pure shock & disbelief after receiving the emperor's marriage edict! omy

And the imperial edict for LanXiang coming just in time,, just seconds after Scholar Han's engagement visit 😅😬

Have to say when they were talking about Ji Er in the beginning, I had a sinking feeling that she didn't make it. Thank goodness there's still hope for her! 🥹

I am so obsessed too it's unhealthy 😭 I can't believe how good this is. Ep 23 ending, what the heck? Did they miss each other? Lan Xiang is so capable (and lucky with Ji Er saving her!) that she didn't need Jin Qi to save her. I kinda wish he did 😭 Loving it!

Ep 23 - I think Yuan's plan for Jin Qi to escort crown prince out of Jinling works and this later helps the crown prince succeed to the throne, so as a reward, JQ is granted the marriage decree 🙂‍↕️

Same here! I love AtC and so impressed with everything about it. Initially I didn't mind watching it slowly but now I am so impatient and realize that binging will save me time in the long run lol. The production, acting, visuals, music everything are top-tier. It's so pleasant to watch (and re-watch) and I'm learning so much about the culture & history too from the show & fellow MDLers. I love how compelling the storytelling is and seeing how women from different social classes and circumstances deal with what's thrown at them during those times. I also appreciate the underlying message that a good education & a loving, supportive family are so important for women to have a chance at a happy and fulfilling life. For the most part the characters complexities are fleshed out quite well and as a viewer I can understand & empathize even with the story's antagonists. This drama is So inspiring ✨⚡️💫🌟⭐️

I saw that now, Man Yi is so desperate here. I'm thinking the Zheng father / family was backed into a corner with no way out so Man Yi lost it trying to kill LX. AtC really showing that being born in the upper class doesn't spare women from hardship & injustice 😔

We haven't seen the last of Du Cui Que, so I'm thinking later she'll explain everything in another long-winded monologue 😅

I think she senses Han's feelings and it seems like she's just starting to reciprocate. They've been getting to know each other for 1 year, so only natural she will think of marriage. He has a lot going for him - educated, kind, respectful, plus her parents like him. If they marry and have children, the grandparents are all there & can help raise their children. Could be a very peaceful life for them.

But of course, I am rooting for Jin Qi! I am so looking forward to LanXiang realizing that she loves him too 💞

I thought that too. Whoever JinQi is set up with by his mother will probably learn about Lan Xiang's close relationship with Jin Qi & Lin Family and will try & eliminate her, like the ruthless Zhengs. So the marriage decree is not just because he loves her and wants to make her his wife, but also because he wants to protect her (& her parents). What better way to do this than to make them part of his family?

Ep 22 - So Zheng Man Yi's father is pushing the marriage between his daughter & Jin Qi to improve his own political standing. He knows that JQ is gaining influence & power, rising in the military ranks and also becoming an ally of the crown prince, mostly through sister Xin Rui's betrothal to Marquis Yuan who was previously married to crown prince's sister or cousin. I thought JQ's mother and grandmother instigated the match, but it seems like it came from the Zhengs. I wonder how Man Yi feels about being used as a pawn to advance her family / her father's ambition. It seems like she's all in with her father's plan, unlike Xing Tang!

I saw that too. I mean they've been neighbors for a year and seeing each other everyday, natural for them to develop feelings for each other. No wonder she'll be pissed off at Jin Qi with the marriage decree!

In ep 20 Cui Que went to Dai Rong for some reason after her plan to marry Jin Qi as concubine failed. It seems like she felt vindictive and wanted to punish the entire Lin family for rejecting her and sought out other officials against the Lins too? This part doesn't seem fleshed out so I am not ruling out a connection to the Wo ppl! There has to be more to it than jealousy.

Good for you Xiu Wan! Jin Qi such a good brother giving her books that helped her reflect about what happened. He's really looking out for his siblings! Her mom is very caring but silly & shortsighted although I get where she's coming from.
