Disclaimer: These are my thoughts and opinions. I appreciate the fact that there would be many who think otherwise.…
What an insightful review, thank you! You present the other POV very well. Like you, I also enjoyed watching Rebirth despite its flaws, even now still thinking about the world that was presented. It would be great if this was added to the review section!

I dont know why this is so low, its fun in a chao kinda way, nobody is safe 🤣🤣 this drama chose violence…
It's sad how low the rating is. The PA fans are sorely disappointed that Rebirth didn't live up to expectations...probably also novel readers are bummed out too. I was a blank slate coming in to watch this and I enjoyed it a lot, except for the ending.. I was frustrated with the Qingrong marriage alliance and the conflict that came out of nowhere! In the end, that was the common enemy that united everyone and resolved all political conflicts. How convenient. Oh well I wish the drama plot evolved better towards the end. I didn't mind the open ending either ( I expected this already from this director ), as long as it's done beautifully, lol...

Ooops I meant ZGY who as an old man seemed to be the ruler of XIming in the last ep. After watching the last 5 epis with the bad subs, I don't think ZGY died.

Definitely, It would be crueler for sure if both survive & not end up together...it's an open ending, so many possibilities are implied in the last moments of the last episode.

I was just thinking it is possible that ZGY saved CQ in the final battle, and if he did, they either be together, or not. And there are hints for both possible endings (so no closure for the audience lol). I guess the question is, which hints seem more grounded in reality?

Also ML loved FL so much that he just wants her to be herself and support her decisions, so just letting her go. Remember in Ximeng he asked her to go off with him and roam the land or something like that, but then she said if she did that she wouldn't be CQ? So then ML decided to support her from afar and help her realize her dream of a just, freer society.

But there is also a possibility that CQ died in the final battle too (or at some point later), that is why ZQY wasn't with her when he was an old man, and the General Chu he referred the girl to join as centurion was another person.

The most hopeful & positive interpretaion of what happened was he saved CQ at the final battle, they got together and had children (YX's dream), they lived in Ximing as rulers, she passed away before him, he became the sole ruler of Ximing in his old age, the General Chu he referred to could be one of his children. I mean this ending is also supported. Lol, so many endings are possible so I understand the viewers' frustrations!!!

I just finished it and i interpret the ending differently. I think ZGY didn’t die from CQ sword, he survived and it’s all part of his plan to dismantle Qingge manor for good. He then reunited with the heavily injured CQ at the final battle.

The scene where Yan Xun and Helian go to Ximing and meet ZGY, CQ, and their 2 children was YX dream when he was already an old man. This could just be wishful thinking, or a dream about real, past events that happened after the battle, so its possible ZGY and CQ could have settled down together in Ximing.

What made me realize the ZQY did not die was because he was in Ximing as king dealing with the citizens’ complaints…1 girl even wanting to be a general like CQ and him granting permission for her to go the the border where « General Chu wasĀ Ā» so that she can to enlist as centurion (hmmm not sure how good the subtitles are so just basing it on these probably better subs will come out). I guess it’s also possible that he was referring to a different General Chu (so CQ may have already passed away), but most likely not.

This part and ZGY’s sad and resigned demeanor plus him telling the girl that she can enlist made me think that after he saved CQ at the final battle, they did in fact not get together and went their separate ways…him as ruler of Ximing and her as general defending the border. Is this possible? There was foreshadowing of this when ZGY told her juniors how she would not choose any of the 3 men who loved her (when her juniors were betting on who’d she end up with).

The final scene with Yan Xun and ZGY is ambiguous and left up to us viewers to come up with our own conclusion…is it real or imagined by Yan Xun? Does this final scene even mean that YX died? I am not sure…

this kind of unclear, symbolic ending is really this director’s signature style, I remember the Double also had an ambiguous ending, which left me feeling frustrated and wondering what really happened.

Just my impressions after watching the last episode.

For me, its a worth watching drama!! I too was skeptical before starting it, but now I am totally hooked. I didnt…
I like it too! I went in with no expectations and didn't know much about PA. So far, I like the story of Rebirth, now at ep 36. It feels like it'll be a tragic ending for everyone, with all the characters & their struggles leaving a lasting, sad impression. For me, definitely a worthwhile watch.

I get why it can feel that way, honestly. The ending really leans hard into emotional weight, and for some viewers…
This is so true. From the start, Rebirth didn't hold back from showing all the harsh realities of their world. It was dark, ominous, with a lot of violent, graphic, bloody scenes. I have never seen Game of Thrones or Vikings or other mini series of that sort, just fan edits, but from what I've seen it feels like the atmosphere & messaging of Rebirth is along the same lines as those, that the world is a cruel, unjust & unforgiving place. More realistic maybe rather than an idealistic portrayal of those times. I've seen up to ep 35 so not sure how I'll feel about the ending and the show overall.

Many people wonder why they would create a drama like this. The reality is that the director likely lost hope…
a very sad and bleak message šŸ˜”

Agree. What we want from a story is the meaningful messages through scenes and dialogues. Lives in their world…
Agree with you, This cdrama brings up a lot of deep issues that are relevant even today, with so many kinds of characters fighting for their ideals, fighting for their lives, for their happiness, in a cruel & unjust world. I'm in the MDL minority here, and really like the story (I'm up to ep 35). I don't expect a happy ending for the MC, considering how the story has been going and how so many characters have met their demise. I feel like it'll be a tragic ending for all šŸ˜”

I don't know what happened, I'm definitely for CQ with ZGY but the way YX was with CQ here in ep 30 makes me doubt my loyalties...his story is really sad with his family...actually all the characters' pasts/stories are so tragic šŸ’”

I just finished ep 19 so slowly catching up and enjoying every bit of Rebirth!!! I am sad and surprised it's not getting any more love with the MDL crowd with the ratings but I guess not knowing anything about PA or the book I am going into this with fresh eyes & no expectations and so really loving it! It reminds me of the Double but more epic in scope.

Just finished ep 5 & it's so goooooooddddddddd...Li Yun Rui is perfect as Zhuge Yue. Liking how new characters are introduced too. The director's style is suiting the story or I should say the story is unfolding well. Going thru comments here about later episodes andit looks like it'll get even betteršŸ’–
