So true! Even as a young boy, he beat up his dad for hurting his mom! He knows right from wrong and would uphold justice if he could, even if it goes against the current.

I think she`ll plant the idea in his head through the play. It won`t be an explicit reveal, just enough clues for him to do his own research & figure it out on his own.

He wanted to share with LX a significant part of himself, his past, his guilt over what happened with the Shens, and his amends, so that she can understand him (and his `Way`). He really loves her 🩷 Little does he know that by revealing what he`s done in the past, he is breaking down the walls to her heart, finally allowing her to love him back. What a beautiful turn of events 🩷

omg you express this so well! I am in tears and so moved by what happened there. I agree, this was really the only way to exonerate JQ frm his & his family involvement in her family's demise, freeing her from the shackles of the past and letting her move on. JQ mentioned that he could never let go what happened to Shen Jia Lan & family and I think this was the invisible connection that bound them together, like the red thread of fate, always drawing them together even with all of its twists & turns. What an amazing drama. I am in awe.

Ep 38 - omg I'm crying and have goosebumps 🥺😭💞

Ep 38 - watching the beginning and Jin Qi father is so annoying! 😤 Immediately wanting a title after hearing JQ & LX awarded so many accolades. The script is soo good though! I loved how LX with help of 2nd Lin sister convinced 1st sister to take on the head of household role, and how JQ was asking advice from his brother! Wisdom all around 💖

And, yey! Nanke & Jiugao have become free men! Love this!

Thanks for this! I saw spoilers for ep 38 & 41 and it seems like the next arc is the slow reveal of her past. I can't wait to see Jin Qi putting together clues & finally figuring out who LX really is. So glad that it'll take 4 episodes for this arc!

I agree, so beautiful! I loved it. I am looking forward to the next phase in their relationship, and don't mind the 1 ep per day & the very slow burn. But, I'm so sad AtC is ending soon 🥺😭. I can't believe I've become so attached to all the characters!

Just watched Ep 37, and I continue to be amazed with this story and all of its twists & turns! 🙌 It's been so exciting up to this point but I'm glad we went back to more slice of life today after the palace coup. The highlight for me was LX & JQ conversation revealing how they both don't know each other very well, and how JQ starting to understand LX a bit more after reading her play. What a nice moment between them 💓. He realized that her reaction to his forced marriage is similar to his own with the Zhao family - I loved that.

He is also starting to see LX more clearly, like how she views romantic love as something transient that cannot endure by itself, and that there needs to be something more, a deeper bond that comes from mutual understanding and respect. It's not enough to share weal and woe. JQ thinks there's hope & time to develop a true husband and wife bond, but I see how LX feels it's impossible ('they walk different paths') since she can never divulge her true identity as a Shen and so he'll never truly understand her and what she's gone through.

What a scene in ep 36 when XingTang and LanXiang were talking while Jin Qi lay there eavesdropping, pretending to be unconscious! I never would have predicted that the 3 of them would be in a situation like that, with XT and LX opening up, having a heartfelt conversation and mutual understanding. In that scene, XT wore the fur stole that LX repaired, bringing back their early days together and also showing how much their relationship has evolved – amazing how LX went from being XT’s slave, to her equal, to her savior, and in her final moments, her friend.

So far, I have liked the parallels made between XT and LX. These 2 characters are literary foils for each other. Both have lost someone close to them because of internal power struggles - XT’s maid QingXiang was sent away by Lin Jin Qi’s mother, then in retaliation, XT set up, punished, and sent off LX’s neighbor & friend, Ji Er. Despite their different approaches (one resorts to cruel methods while the other would never do harm), both XT and LX cherish and care for their companions and want to protect them. Another interesting comparison was when we were shown LX gaining freedom from servitude for herself & her parents and how happy and hopeful they all were as they walked out of the Lin family residence, together. Meanwhile, just down the road, we see XT alone in her carriage, being married off again for political gain, looking trapped and hopeless. Such a stark contrast.

Today's episodes were such a ride, yet so well-paced! Lan Xiang & Jin Qi in the Lin family retreat, I thought something was going to happen lol.

Ok, after watching ep 34, I have to say again that this is such an incredible drama! It's just soooo goooodddd. I really love how our main couple is getting closer through the very few interactions we are shown ♥️ Like someone else here said, their moments together are all about quality, not quantity. LXY is so good as the boorish but completely whipped & repentant husband! He is so handsome and talented and just honestly it's too much! I hope he gets the recognition he deserves after his amazing performance as Jin Qi ♥️

Ep 30 - Bravo Lan Xiang! Making Jin Qi realize her POV and how wrong his actions were in going for the imperial decree bypassing her parents. That was impressive👏👏👏

Me too, I was shocked for her and tearing up, like didn't she already go through so much trauma? Her past is literally going to be in her face every day now that she is living in the capital. Jin Qi better figure it out.
