I thought I was tripping...swear the FL from New Life Begins (Tian Xi Wei) was playing support role Zi Wu in first episode, but it's actually someone else. They look eerily alike in that hairstyle, anyone else see it?
Normally I can't stand this kind of useless, overly naive FL but wow this drama got me right in the feels. I was rooting for FL to grow up and spread her wings, and damn they cast perfectly in Takahata. ML was great, too. Not everyone had the character development they needed but tbh that's more realistic. Some people are just stuck in their ways.
The plot is so over-the-top and ludicrous that initially I couldn't take this drama seriously at all.
Matsuyama Kenichi was right on the money (heh pardon the pun) at the creepy, twisted ML but to me the plot was incredibly reminiscent of those overly dramatic Latin American telenovelas that were always on TV when I was a kid. Actor who played younger ML was great, too.
With the soap opera vibes, it wasn't the dark and hard-hitting drama I was hoping for, but I did think the alternate life in finale was a powerful way to close.
I agree! A medical drama where the lead characters somehow have to be in a foreign country together and encounter…
Instead of getting back w emotionally manipulative ML, FL needs to move on and find someone who will treat her w sincerity and respect. massive logic fail to have him leaving a young child alone at home (it's illegal in most countries for a reason) and using the child as a manipulation tactic. Agreed, they should not get back together.
why do they always use a child as a bridge to make two people reconcile/be together again.. if he's going to pursue…
they need the kid for emotional manipulation to soften FL even more to doing what ML wants. btw your username & profile pic reminds me I need to rewatch Shining for One Thing :D
After watching Meet Yourself, Knockout & Three-Body in a row, I now have a huge problem. I'm unable to stomach average/subpar Cdramas like I used to??
Allow me to roll my eyes massively at the Africa shooting medics stereotype they keep using but moving swiftly on, I'm confused as to why we should be rooting for ML & FL to get together? ML is emotionally unavailable in every way & incredibly manipulative.
Really liked the ML's acting in The Confidence but here it's just a bland plot, and unhealthy relationship. droppety drop dropped
Poster? Awful. Subs? Even worse. Background music? Not great. Drama itself? Supremely binge-worthy, highly recommend!
Honestly, I wasn't interested in the secondary romance (tbh was shipping him w actress noona) but it was a super enjoyable watch. More short high-quality dramas like this please!
Ok, a few eps in and so far it's super enjoyable but seriously I need to rant because wtf the Netflix subs are so baaaad! I had to switch off English subs because the shitty subs were distracting me. I checked and the French subs were better. Reminds of me of mistranslations with Squid Game, is there no quality control when it comes to Netflix subbing? You can get top quality fansubs so there's no excuse for Netflix resources not to provide accurate subs.
Enjoying the show so far (Eun Sil = MVP) but I'm not surprised that some contestants were legit injured, it's wild to me how there are so many moments were ppl could easily have been really seriously injured.
A really lovely drama, very heart-warming.
