For some reason I thought this was based on a high school team so I wasn't that interested to watch but I'm glad I did...for one reason only. Park Tae Jun is the most green flag ML ever! whyyy do perfect guys like this not exist IRL T______T
Huh well tbh in the previous life the FL teamed up with vicious aunt so I guess she was never a great judge of character. Ughh why did they have to make her character so sanctimonious and judgemental in the drama? I wish they stuck to webnovel for her character tbh, it's not adding any value in the drama, the way it's written.
I had high hopes but this was underwhelming. It's like it had most of the elements needed to be great, but it fell flat due to the execution, as well as the plot holes.
If a S2 is released, I'd still be open to watching that, though.
Osung is the most suspicious when he says about SH, "I guess i cant keep you alive". hes probably the culprit.
OS is sus af but imo he gets others to do his dirty work, which is making me think he wasn't the person to directly kill WS but I'm sure he was involved in it somehow
ok ok ok my theory.... Wonseok was actually dating the violin guy (explains why he suddenly went psycho and tried to kill Sooheon when he believed SH was the killer). O Sung was manipulating WS bc he knew about the relationship aka his weakness. Then the tables turned when WS started manipulating OS when he found out OS has the hots for his step-sister.
JB obvs has real issues...sounds like he has dissociative personality disorder so he doesn't know what his "alter ego" is doing aka maybe his way of coping with the death of his twin? I feel like they've set it up with the accomplice talk for JB to be WS's killer and for Ok Chanmi to have to decide whether to forgive JB or extract revenge.
Poor Sooheon T______T guy can't catch a break, but at least he has solid friends Ok Chanmi randomly deciding to believe the slimiest person on the show aka OS is just illogical in every way like wtf
Ingredients: one manic pixie dream (assassin) girl one sad boi who craves physical pain to numb his inner hurt smattering of dark humour 8 teaspoons of lol wtf just happened here & a big ol' scoop of violence
ok I was half-heartedly watching this but I just got the major icks from FL in ep7 when she slaps her bro right in the face, making judgments w/o any evidence. The FL is written really one-dimensional... I just don't want to root for her.. like, just because you're poor doesn't mean you're ignorant, it doesn't mean you have zero manners...ugh... It's a shame, the whole plotline actually had potential at the start but whatever.... Not every drama can be up to scratch, I guess
There was some stellar acting throughout, but the one storyline that really kept my attention was the SeonAh DongSeok one... I don't think we should be forced to forgive anyone, even a parent, for years of abuse. Letting go of anger and resentment for your own sake is one thing, but forgiveness/absolution is another. I felt they needed to show SA reunited with DS in person...not just in a group setting but one-on-one. It was the one thing the finale really missed, imo
Another great 2 eps. JB up there on the sus af list to me. Either OSung is trying to manipulate him (seems like from the polas maybe he cherry picked some pics to suggest JB & WS were dating, when they were all in a group setting?) or JB & WS were really dating. Idk but I'm sus af of JB's amnesia now
How was he supposed to know they were in financial straits? He thought his dad was the cause of her death but…
I mean he grew up poor so obvs knew they were in financial trouble esp after IMF crisis. I'm not saying her death is his fault at all, I'm just saying that if saving/helping his mother was a key goal of his then he really didn't prioritise that at all, and imo it's a plot hole especially bc of how she died in this life.
For what reason? Charity? Do you think his real mom could accept?
are you kidding me? she committed suicide because of financial troubles but she would turn down free money/help?? there are so many ways to give money or help anonymously c'mon now
ML has been a millionaire since he was 18, why didn't he just directly donate money to his prior life family right then and there to help them w their financial troubles quickly???
Edit to reply to ppl's responses: yeah ofc anyone would take free money in a recession...and it's not like he had to reveal himself...there are many ways to give money anonymously or hiding your true intentions (hello mayor of seoul campaign??). Plus he just literally bought the building the restaurant was in, presumably to gift it to them or tell them rent was free. Why couldn't he have done it sooner? Obvs he knew his family was poor back then... it legit doesn't make sense. I'm not saying her death is his fault at all but if one of his key goals in this life was to save his mother then he really didn't prioritise that.
Let's say maybe no matter what he would have done, she would have died anyway? Ok but it's a big plot hole to me, especially considering her cause of death in this life. To me, it would have made more sense if he had helped out his old family, but despite living a much better and happier life, his mother died anyway of let's say underlying health conditions. Instead, he's shown as being too late to help? He made billions by knowing exactly when to invest in stocks but never helped his old family? He did business and made investments while hiding his identity the whole time, but somehow couldn't anonymously help them? It just doesn't make sense and it doesn't sit with this character at all, why is why imo it's a giant plot hole.
ok thesis over btw I enjoy discussing stuff like this bc I'm really enjoying the drama, I respect diff opinions but it's just a blaring and needless plot hole imo ^_____^
I just started watching and I'm simultaneously mad at myself for taking this long to start and glad af that I didn't have to wait ages and ages between episodes! :D
The grandfather who is the founder of the SoonYang conglomerate is a fine man......His children and their children…
Completely agree with you, you nailed it! Unlike his waste of an eldest grandson, it's the actually the workers he thinks so lowly of that are the true pillar of the company.
I'm really enjoying the battle of wits between ML and grandfather, and while I do think ML respects the grandfather a hell of a lot, I feel like he won't ever forget who he really is. In the chaebols' eyes in his past life, despite all his sacrifices, ML was only ever a disposal "servant" to the family...and in this life workers (like his father from his old life) are purely expendable, just like he was and could still be if he's seen as a detriment to the family.
I'm super interested to see how he's gonna struggle in his plot for revenge to keep those righteous values and morals intact, while he's fighting in the cesspool.

Nah the grandfather is trash too, but he's just a lot more competent than his kids. They way he refused employment buyout for Ajin motors..talking about not being too nice to "servants" so they "know their place". What a POS. ML grew up poor so he knows what it means to value people and morals over money. Grandfather is typical chaebol
This is what I'd call a great example of background TV.
I have it on in the background while I'm doing other stuff and bc I don't need to stress my brains I can follow along v easily. Each case wraps up in an episode, so it's a super easy watch.
