Subversive, off beat, twisted, unique plots & characters... those are what Jdramas can excel in. This has none of those. It's literally the embodiment of an old school Harlequin romance novel .... dripping with coincidences, cliches and obvious plot lines.
And yet I enjoyed every last bit of it! I guess sometimes all you need is that over the top trope-y romance that spikes your blood sugar.
Soundtrack was a delight, as was the acting ( especially the young actors). Highly recommend if you're craving something sweet, but not something I'd personally re-watch.
more more more! my theories in spoiler below...let's seee if I'm right!
yeah my theory is Jaebum + Wonseok were dating and bc their familes are hella religious this was considered sinful af. If JB really was in a coma for 6 months then he can't be the killer, right? Bc WS was killed 3 months prior. So main suspect is Mr. Jealous O Sung. Unless that timeline isn't correct and the parents lied to JB about how long he was in a coma for? Idk I don't trust anyone
also...surely the main suspect in murder of stabby scum guy is the wig girl? She was the only other person who knew he was there? Or ML had memory lapse and killed him without remembering?
I want back the time I wasted watching this. Plot was ridiculously weak.
I had high hopes for this but v v disappointed
Edit: Just read through comments that seem disappointed bc of graphic nature of the drama. Korean cinema has always had explicit content...that's not at all why I'm let down. No matter how decent the cinematography is, or how solid the acting, if the plot isn't there then it's a letdown. Scriptwriter was trying too hard, it felt forced. Pacing was disjointed, felt jarring to watch.
Probably the best, if not one of the best dramas I have seen in a while. I'm still processing the range of issues…
Was looking for a great Jdrama to fill the void while I waited for the next episodes of Silent and came across this one 120 eps (despite their length) so I thought no way but saw your comment.. and tbh I respect your reviews on Jdramas so much that I just started watching. Thank you! :)
Really enjoying this so far but I really didn't want the romance angle right now, if that's what's happening.
He's more than double her age, even if his physical self is the same age as her ...gives me the icks, if they start dating now it's legit creepy. Wanna see more focus on business/political side and him facing setbacks on his way to revenge.
What a waste of these leads' talent.... ML ( Kido Ma ) was great in I Don't Want to Be Friends with You, & FL was charming in Our Shiny Days... too bad the script is just awful
FL definitely does get better, undergoes some character development and grows a backbone, but I totally agree with you.
I can understand that she became a quiet and reserved housewife, but even housewives have hobbies and interests, right? I mean, give her a hobby, or a pet or even a potted plant, to show other facets of her personality! T_____T
She's still written miles better than most FLs, so I appreciate that, & I'm enjoying the drama a lot so far
People need to give more short dramas a chance! This one was fluffy and sweet, nothing spectacular but honestly a lot better than some 30 ep Cdramas these days
When FL didn't accept his apology at her doorway I was v pleasantly surprised. Happy to see her show her backbone!
Unlike others, I don't think ML is the right one for her. I hope she can shake him off, and be more wary of him and the situation. She needs to get a proper lawyer to help her and surround herself with people who genuinely care about her and support her, instead of those who condescendingly think they all know better than her (e.g. in-laws, even her friend Su Wen is v condescending).
Hopefully she wins the lawsuit, and starts afresh...w/o fake Gao Jun hanging around.
Awww, this is so feel-good... just what I needed after a rough week!
FL is adorable, great to see her going from supporting role to main lead.
Really hoping this continues in the same vein and doesn't go all angsty. Right now it's the perfect combo of light and fluffy, with just enough comedy, as well as showcasing the power of female friendship.
Xiao Wu's character and the whole police stuff was very annoying, tbh. I wish they had focused more on the main…
For sure, and I agree their chemistry was fire. ML & FL are actually in a new Cdrama (Unexpected Falling) & I'm watching that purely bc of their chemistry.
This has none of those.

Only 8 episodes but they pack a hell of a punch (pardon the pun).
Off to read the webtoon now. wowowow
