I just read the book (loved it) and saw there's an adaptation on the way. Really hope FL changes, WCR would nail this role imo (especially the more emotional scenes). I haven't seen her in much, but she made Fireworks much more beareable w her acting, especially in vulnurable moments. hopefully it changes back!
I just love how their relationship is growing, with the age gap and power dynamics I am so, so glad they went this route instead of domineering CEO. He is charmed by her, despite himsel,f and not super pushy at all. He respects her work. She is wary, understandably, so but hopefully she opens herself up to him eventually. She is already caring for him, in her own way, even though she may not recognise it herself.
worst season of heart signal ever (korean or chinese). terrible casting, irritating panel and the editing is truly the worst. viewers want to see an honest narrative (not twisted editing), and true relationships( even friendships) blossoming in the house but nah. none of that. just Jiyoung, Jiyoung and more jJyoung as main character & she is immensely unlikeable to me because I don't like players (male or female) who string ppl along for the attention and external validation Min Gyu is frustrating af but due to editing we don't get to see any of his interactions w Yi Soo so idk if Yi Soo is delulu or they are truly connecting. They seem to get along well. I'm actually too exhausted to talk about rest of cast but Jiwon was an absolute waste of space, barely there, terrible casting decision.
honestly if you're considering watching this, don't. save yourself the frustration and boredom lots of other great dating shows released this year
The only critique I have for Mask Girl is that it feels like three actresses are playing different characters.…
I felt that the first and second iterations were quite different in terms of personality but it made sense to me, she was able to unleash her inner personality and be more outgoing & sociable. The third iteration was such a big gap in time and circumstances (obvs where she ended up played a big part in her personality change). I do agree that it would have been more cohesive for her to have an obvious quirk or trait that ran through each iteration. As a viewer, I personally didn't feel jarred by the 3 actresses playing same role, something I'd been worried about.
Some subversion tropes I am really loving with this drama:1) Lawyer Wu is actually a good supervisor (a lot of…
this!!! I've really been enjoying all of those aspects and I'm very glad to see a career-focused professional young woman acting like one really would in reality and not being silly, sappy and googly-eyed for love. For the romance aspect, apparently the original role cast someone about a decade older than current actress and ML & FL had a discussion with the screenwriter and the script was changed to be more of a supportive equal footing relationship instead of bossy CEO vibes, which I am thrilled about. yes please, mature and realistic relationships and dialogues!
Like everyone else, I am also watching the anime, but I would love to see the live-action since it is already…
you won't find it yet. I watched it at a film festival but the DVD is coming out in Sept so probably soon after it will pop up on various sites. patience :))))
a MASSIVE thanks to the ppl leaving detailed breakdowns of the raw episodes in the spoilers...my Mandarin is toddler level so I've been watching the latest raw episodes and getting the general gist of things but these detailed summaries help so much, plus they're written so well! Xièxie!!!
Took an unexpected turn at the start, but after the 2nd ep I could predict a lot of the plots twists. I still enjoyed it. I have to say, great acting across the board. I think 7 eps was the perfect length, hope to see more Kdramas of this length. Keeps the pace snappy and no filler scenes. Hopefully it gets decent traction and is in top 10 on Netflix bc I'd like to see more of these kind of dark, gritty Korean productions.
yep it's good. Solid acting, solid plot, I'm already looking forward to seeing how the girls progress in their carers and personal lives. I live for female friendships and a proper mentor/mentee relationship.
ppl talking negatively due to the age gap (especially when they haven't even watched an episode) can jog on ...byeee nobody asked you to watch this Cdrama

yayay more FL that are clever, witty and without the babygirl voice
