Yeah I understood that the ring would give her illusion of more masculinity but even after she was given the ring, ML's guards called FL "furen" aka Your Ladyship so they recognised she was a woman. This was when ML was drunk on the steps and FL ordered his guards to take him home. ep 3 I think. Might just be a plot hole
So many things to enjoy about this : the cinematography, beautiful scenery, cosy scenes in the countryside. ML had a wonderful personality and his backstory was heartbreaking. Plus, puppies!
However, I ended up fast-forwarding through so many scenes (especially once the ex-gf showed up). The writing was just sub-par, FL was abrasive and rude at the start, and although she did improve slightly, for me her character felt flat. I wish the overall plotline had been better.
I'm gonna keep an eye out for ML's other works, though. He was great!

tbh I don't think he ever loved her sincerely, he just liked her admiration of him. He felt like bc he was more educated, that made him superior to her, not just intellectually, but in every way. He didn't respect her as a person, which shows in his actions to her.

My fave Taiwanese crime show of recent years is still Danger Zone. Victim's Game was also a good watch.
