Seasons 1 and 2 were hot garbage, and so is this season but I'm enjoying it now that I've let go of any expectations of logic or coherence π episode 6 was an absolute banger!
I was happy until they refused to let Tak take down the guy who killed his brother. They kept telling us Tak was the best fighter in their class, and the best athlete but Seung Hyun was able to beat the guy up and he got his butt handed to him? I know they wanted Seung Hyun to shine as the hero but I would have felt a lot better if Tak had been able to complete his brother's work. Instead it was a moment for SH and for his father to redeem himself (again, without even acknowledging Tak's brother who was the first victim)
Overall, it was a good show but that whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Tak deserved better.
I agree with you but do still have some empathy for the mother. She has given up her life to raise their child,…
I'm finding it hard to empathize with the mother because even the daughter said if she wants a divorce it's fine, but she doesn't seem to know what she wants. Yes, he was away, but she also never let him know that his absence was a problem. Everything their daughter knows about him has been from her mother, including her attitude towards him. The daughter felt uncomfortable and indifferent to him because her mother was uncomfortable around him and didn't like seeing him. I still think he's an idiot for leaving instead of working on his marriage but both of them are to blame for the current situation.
I hate to say it, but the guys are all incredibly stupid. I can't even feel bad for Daeil cos what exactly did he think would happen? The only one I empathize with is Tak cos if I was in his shoes I wouldn't want anything to do with the police either, but I wish he'd talk to one of his other friends at least instead of retreating into himself.
Anyway, Daeil may not actually die but I wouldn't be mad if he did at this point, and I need Seunghyun to get it together.
If QM doesn't die by the end of this drama, I will be deeply unhappy. QX deserves to be with someone who is a decent human being and not someone who violated him and doesn't see anything wrong with every horrible thing she has done since then. She used to be selfish, spoiled, cowardly and brainless but now she's just a vile coward. Like she had a chance to redeem herself by throwing QY that sword but instead she ran off and prayed silently for her sister to die.
Anyway, LY and QY are an amazing team as usual and I'm so proud of QX for stepping up and making a difference in these last episodes. YL still deserves to eat dirt forever.
I don't hate the wife, but she's doing way too much for a man that clearly wants nothing to do with her imo. It's either that she just wants them both to be miserable or she is really broken (cos how else did she think she'd get away with passing someone else's child off as his forever?). I do blame JS though cos he's selfish and inconsiderate. Everything has to be when he wants no matter who it hurts cos he should've gotten divorced a long time ago and should def stay away from CY until his divorce is final.
I'm really only here for Joo Hee at this point cos she's so lovely and sweet and I was so glad she went off on that crazy customer (although tbh I can't imagine anyone actually trying to claim a full price refund for something they bought on sale π€£). I wish she'd kept that lottery ticket cos she deserves that money. I guess the chef will break up with his gf eventually since she's so ashamed of him and making him question himself for no reason. Someone already said it here but idk why the doctor's sister is getting more screentime and story development than Joo Hee. It irks me.
The hair extension is a paid actor and it does more than FL in any given scene π I'm just glad I saw The Red Sleeve before this cos I would've skipped that if this was my first experience with Lee Se Young. I'm watching the whole thing though because I do love LSY and I love Ji Sung.
is it just me or was the build up from heedo sucking at fencing to competing for a gold medial just.. non existent?…
They did show all of that, right? The training, pushing herself like crazy etc. She was a fencing prodigy who just stalled after a while and having a better coach and people actually believing in her helped her get out of her rut. Her mother never says anything good even when she wins so of course she would say Hee Do sucks at it when it was obvious to the coach that Hee Do just needed more confidence and a little more training.
I get that everyone wants a super sweet happy couple right now, but I actually understand QY and why she wants to leave. She has always said all she wants is to be free, no matter how and things kept happening to get in the way of her dream. This is probably the first time in her life that she can actually imagine being able to live the kind of life she always dreamed of and it doesn't mean she doesn't love LY. Also, she said a lot of things to him because she was scared he was dying, and since it's not like he sat her down and said he loves her, I don't see why she should put her dream aside for now.
I wanted to shake them both in ep 28, but mostly LY cos QY is making choices without having all the information. He should've confessed instead of making the decision for her that it would only make them both unhappy. Anyway, even if she does go without him, I know they won't be apart for too long because the yearning will kick in and one of them will eventually make the decision to outright declare that they want to be a couple.
I like the friendship but I'm not loving the way Mi Jo made Chan Young's illness about herself. It was about her reaction and her feelings and she wouldn't even let Chan Young process it the way she wanted or share the news when and how she wanted. I get that she is scared to lose her friend but it's not her life at the end of the day.
Not really into the romance part yet but maybe that will change. I just skip everything with Mi Jo and the doctor now.
I binged this in 2 days and I think that's the best way to watch it. If I had to sit through it week to week, with the unnecessary conflict and tiresome characters, I would've dropped it. It's good to binge though cos you can skip past all the nonsense and enjoy the good bits without letting it fester in your mind.
It feels like this show was meant to be at least 10 episodes longer because there's so much that's unexplained but meant to be accepted. Like when and how exactly did Yan Kai fall in love? It felt like overnight he just decided he was in love with the spoiled rich girl and then she could do no wrong? Weird.
I also wish they'd spent more time on CKY and her relationships with the other women (or even her romance) instead of the endless stories of side characters doing irrelevant things. This show would've been more interesting to me if I didn't have to skip so much. Finally, I don't know why some characters (but Kai Yi especially) whisper their lines. I have to strain to hear what some of them are saying and it's annoying. CKY just whispers to herself and the whole office pretends they know exactly what she said. Overall, I wanted more Qin Min too. They should've replaced everything to do with Yan Kai with Qin Min scenes and I would've been ecstatic.
She caught his eye from the start and he liked her character.... does there have to be more to it than that? Then,…
I also think if it wasn't for all the interruptions, QY would've come to love him eventually if they'd ended up together. She obviously cared very deeply for him but once she ended things with him, his feelings were no longer her concern or responsibility. QX is a good man even if he is weak, and he deserves only good things, but QY would have been an excellent match for him and made him happy if they had been allowed to live their lives.
I actually donβt understand why QX feels so strongly for QY. They had like what? One date? And it was filled…
They also spent a lot of time together during the investigation and then wrote to each other a lot when she was grounded. People have become obsessed for much less so I can understand him. Because we don't really get a clear picture of the passage of time, it's hard to say how long it's been since they met, but it was practically love at first sight for him and then it just kept going from there.
Funny how the other horrid cousins got character development and the writer was like, "Qiu Min? R**e." It's a tired trope and what's worse is that it only made her worse somehow? I knew it was coming but I'm still pissed it happened. I've been on my knees begging for QM to grow a backbone and stop being so problematic, but instead this is what we've been given. It would've been so much better if she'd just become a stronger and better person through the fall of the family and death of her mother and then won Qin Xuan over like that. I've been frustrated with her character since the start of the drama and I don't think even her death could make me like her now.
As for Qiu Yan and Liang Yi, finally they worked together to actually get out of the brothel (too bad QM ruined everything as usual). I'm really enjoying all their scenes together and the way their wits keep saving their necks. I lol'd when he brought her out in broad daylight and called her a different name. Like , is it that easy? π Things will only get more interesting now that she's going to be playing the role of his concubine and I cannot wait to see the downfall of Yuan Lang.
This feels like the 3rd drama in a row that I've seen recently that features strong female friendships but one of them has a terminal illness and dies. It's incredibly depressing and I'm quite tired of it. Why can't they just let these women live past a certain age without throwing heartbreaking tragedies at them?
I like all 3 women a lot and their different personalities so I'm excited to see the rest of it but also disappointed at the tragic start to the show.
Overall, it was a good show but that whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Tak deserved better.

Now that it's over, I'd say it's an 8/10 max.
