I will admit that this show got a lot better in the last quarter so it wasn't a bad experience for me. Kang Han Na was exceptional in this and she held this show together for me cos she was the only reason I kept coming back.
I didn't like the king in the beginning, and I didn't like him at the end, but by the end at least I could understand why he was the way he was. Lee Joon did a good job portraying him so I'll look forward to more of his work in the future.
Ep 10 was absolutely a wild ride. I kept waiting for the twist that would bring Tin back cos they teased us about him getting hurt before so I didn't think they'd actually kill him this time! I was worried Tol would do something drastic to reset the timeline but hunting down Jinta was better than the alternative I had in mind. Excited for next week.
The most disappointing thing for me about the first 2 eps was in ep 1 when Naksu said they call her Naksu because everywhere she goes, heads fall to the ground, and then got into a fight where no heads fell to the ground ๐ other than that, I really enjoyed the start of this drama, especially Mu-deok's ever growing list of people to kill and the awesome chemistry between the leads. I think this will be a fun experience and it'll be torture watching from week to week.
I have many questions about the plot but I'll wait for a few more episodes to see how it develops. But I must say that Mage Jang is a wasteman for crippling a child because of his own poor judgement. Uk didn't ask to be born, and anyone could've told that idiot Jang that the king was up to no good, so why punish Uk instead of raising him to be a better man than both his fathers?
Sanniang was the star of episode 25 with her honest candidness! She was awesome at the academy and when she told…
I was cheering for Sanniang both times. She has so much empathy and understanding for others, and I really want her to get to a place of real happiness soon. She deserves it so much.
I don't know what it is about him, but I don't trust Shen Ru Zhou and I don't like him. I especially don't like the way Yin Zhang keeps letting him have his way when she clearly doesn't want to do things he wants her to do. Plus he's starting to sound more and more manipulative with every episode and honestly, Yin Zhang has been through enough. I don't know how GQF missed the mark with SRZ cos the man is clearly not as upright as they have been led to believe. I wish Sanniang and Pan Er would treat Yinzhang like an adult and actually talk to her about things that are happening so she wouldn't have this doe-eyed approach to life even after her awful ordeal. I expected her to be a lot wiser after what she went through with her first husband but somehow, she's still the same and I put some of the blame for that on the other women too. They need to stop coddling her and acting like she doesn't have a brain in her head because it'll just lead to more misunderstandings and unfortunate situations.
Although, I have to say that the fact that Yin Zhang doesn't know what's going on between Pan Er and GQF is exactly why they treat her like a child.
I think the saga of the back tattoo has to be the funniest thing to me in this drama. I wish they'd just used some kdrama magic to say she got rid of the scar a long time ago, cos anytime they show her physically photoshopping that tattoo off her back, I burst out laughing. Makeup rubs off, no matter how good it is and it was just a stick of concealer? With her all white apparel? Hilarious. (Plus, he would still feel the scar on her back though... Right???)
Yeah me too.. i donโt trust him after he said about lei jing
I haven't trusted him for a while but as soon as he started being dodgy about Lei Jing I knew he was shady. It's almost like he just wants to bring down Duke Xiao so he can take his place.
It's so interesting that when HYS sees the bad end of a relationship, she rushes towards it because according to her logic, it's inevitable anyway so what wait... but when she saw herself in a happy relationship for once, she refused to accept it because it can't be real. She let her super power rule her love life forever, and when it's finally doing something good, she almost refuses to embrace it because she's scared of a good thing. Very human.
Also, I can't remember if she got this way after an accident and I wouldn't know what episode to go check to be sure, but what if this accident connects her to CMH? I know kdramas love the "they've always been connected" trope, so I'm wondering if that will be another reveal. I really want both of them to be happy so I'm glad they've agreed to start dating now โบ๏ธ
The pregnancy announcement is finally upon us! I can't believe how long I've been waiting for her to make a dramatic declaration ๐ Councillor Park has been quite disappointing in the last few episodes. Maybe the Queen Dowager is really his blind spot cos there's no excuse for him being so out of the loop.
I wonder what will happen to Lady Cho when the king makes his sudden but inevitable triumphant return. Maybe he'll let her go since this was all a plot anyway. Anyway, I'm glad the king is finally doing something significant onscreen but I can't deny that the last 2 episodes where he was unconscious have been the most enjoyable. Now that he's gotten justification to act out maybe he won't be such a snooze any more โบ๏ธ
This drama is funny but I have so many questions. Why didn't she report the stalker as soon as she found out? He had already taken it pretty far so I don't know how she felt comfortable with him just roaming around. Why didn't she call the police instead of going to the station? How is it that the chefs never once checked to see if their secondhand fridge was actually working? That's literally the first thing you do when you plug in a new device - make sure it actually works as promised. How did the policewoman not see the very obvious bruises on Da Hyun's arms? They were so prominent, I expected that to be the next issue with the police.
The whole neighborhood seems shady af, like Vincenzo with the building of criminals, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's more than one murderer living there. I think we all knew the body wasn't in the fridge any more so now we can speculate about who moved it. I did find it silly how they kept saying they needed the fridge back when all they had to do was move the body.
I kept waiting for Consort Park to announce that she's pregnant with the king's child or something lol. The Queen Dowager really needs a lesson on how to be a good villain, cos she didn't even wait to get confirmation that the king was dead before she practically announced that she had him poisoned ๐ญ a day or two to collect her thoughts again would've been nice so she didn't wear the ceremonial outfit just for the maids. I mean, what would it have cost her to calmly watch as the king she hates so much finally dies and then she can assume power. Rookie move.
I found it funny that Councillor Park was like "oh the queen dowager is leaving the palace incognito... no need to worry about that" after she practically announced that she would no longer be supporting his agenda. Also, how does he not know that the former chief eunuch now works for the Dowager? They introduced this character as someone who knows everything in the palace but he's just letting things slip now for no reason.
I think the show benefits a lot more when Consort Park has more to do and I'm looking forward to more of her scheming next episode. I just wish there weren't so many long, lingering shots of nothing but slomo stares.
She treated stray cats better than how she treated her son. From the recollection of Dong Seok, imagine being…
That last part. She could've been good to him even when no one else was there, but she chose not to. She could've even had a conversation with him in adulthood to explain and seek forgiveness before the terminal illness reared its head, but she chose not to. I can't even begin to imagine what her excuse could be.
I wish Dongseok would not forgive his mother. He is right just because she has cancer everyone is expecting him…
I know they're a small community and everyone is in everyone else's business, but they need to recognize that they don't know what's going on and stop making assumptions. They all want to be understood but none of them has asked his mother what she did to turn him into such an angry, bitter, person.
Once again, it's the "forgive this terrible aren't because they're dying" trope and I hate it. Has she ever apologized to Dong Seok for the horrible things she did and let be done to him? She may have thought she didn't have a choice when he was a child but pretending like it never happened now that he's an adult is just wrong. She looks like a kind old lady to everyone else but she was the one who made his childhood miserable and turned him into the angry, bitter man he is now. She doesn't deserve forgiveness but if he can use that to let go of the anger he feels, then I don't mind it.
I knew she was a terrible parent when they showed in the flashback how his step brothers beat him up and she just turned a blind eye. She didn't even try to comfort him just to make it a little easier for him. There are so many things she could've done to make his life just a bit better and at least let him feel loved, but she chose not to for whatever reason. If she was going to act that way then she should've kept it going until she eventually dropped dead.
I really love He Si's PR work ๐ he's better than any social media campaign. I promised myself I wouldn't watch previews for future episodes but I couldn't help myself. Luckily, it looks like even though their problems will be frequent, they'll also be cleared up quickly. I look forward to their business being so famous that even the emperor hears of their greatness โบ๏ธ.
This is giving me the same vibes as The Autumn Ballad, right down to the sister who won't listen to good advice and then gets herself in an unfortunate situation. I'm enjoying it a lot so far, and I hope there won't be any unnecessary conflict over a man in this one.
