What is going on between the Du siblings?

Any bets on whether Du Lei will do the psychopathic delusional thing of so many 'unrequited love' SMLs and misconstrue her simple gift of a plain old tie as if it is some expression of her undying love for him? I really hope we don't have to suffer through an excess of screen minutes devoted to this creep. Especially if it's at the expense of time that could be spent on the two leads. Also what's the deal between Du Lei and Du Ling ('Linda')??? Are they siblings? Why does she seem to have the hots for him? Lots of hints of past intimacy between them!! Is there really an incest vibe going on here? Or will they be revealed as adopted or step siblings? Probably, to get past the censors. Nevertheless that got freaky. Later, Bai Lu does drunk Jiang Jun in absolutely hilarious fashion! Her chemistry with Leo is crazy good and especially when they get comedic!

LOVED IT

I absolutely loved it, Hong ye ji and park ji joon nailed their role. It’s just sad that she doesn’t have any recent series, I love seeing her in my screen, the only thing I didn’t like about this show was that 1. At episode 12-16, the show felt a bit dragged with unnecessary plot like loosing his memories2. When Yoong mentioned her mother at the end, we didn’t get any clarification if she was really alive, or if he was lying she to kill her.3. This might feel a bit personal, but I would have loved to see a moment when they’re in the queen and king roles, or even a child. Just something from the future, but that ok

Unexpectedly, Yuan Shuai gets some really…

Unexpectedly, Yuan Shuai gets some really solid advice from his assistant, Su Chang. In so many dramas, the cold, dominant ML's assistant is too much of a clown or too socially challenged to offer decent relationship advice. Su Chang, who does come across as a little clownish, nevertheless gives his boss so really sensible advice regarding Jian Jun. Then we get some "I'm sick take care of me" hijinks by YS (drama trope) which leads to a great, steamy moment when JJ reads a very steamy passage from a book! The only downside to this fun episode is that we have to suffer through another appearance by the creepy Du Lei. I guess he's just going to be around because some writers just don't know how to write a story without a 'love triangle'. Grit teeth and skip. It's funny just how pretentious the restaurant and fragrance chamber places he takes her to are - especially after Yuan Shuai took her to a place that made a noodle dish that specifically emotionally evoked her father's homemade noodles. The contrast in her reactions to the food on each 'date' was stark. The end of the episode ending with a face-off between Du & Yuan was oozing with testosterone but it at least revealed Du for who he was so JJ now knows honestly who she has been dealing with.

Ignoring the fact that we are both pissing…

Ignoring the fact that we are both pissing me off right now, I did not expect this to go this way. I understand he was lying from the start, like a comment on IQIYI said that. And I am like, okay, but lying to get with him is one thing, and then having his best friend lie to him, having his so-exposed childhood sweetheart lie to him, and then you set up this whole thing, a fake wedding, a whole bunch of shit. And believing in these Feng Shui masters, I am like, okay, we are on two different levels right now. He is playing checkers, y’all are playing football, because there is no way. I feel like he has every right to be mad because he has no idea if you are lying to him, because everyone knew from the start he was lying to him because he had a crush on him, and he has had a crush on him forever, okay? But he does not know the same with you, and you can tell him all this stuff, and he just thinks you are using him for his body. I understand that, but maybe if we communicated more, but I understand why he does not want to talk to him. So I am low-key on Ritz’s side right now. I think his feelings are completely valid, because lying is one thing, but he got the whole cast to lie to this guy. I am like, okay, so now we both like each other, but there are levels to this. They lowkey had me fooled so i guess 8.5/10? Okay bye!

Office romance

Best 1st episode for a office romance in long time!! Starts off a bit slow but builds and takes you where you want to go and nails the end of the episode right on the head.

What's the catch?

That night when they went off the road, and they danced and laughed, was pretty fun! They made such a good team with the investigation... 😌🤗Fei: "Have you been watching too many romance dramas?"Yifei: "Yes."Fei: "That's enough," and starts hitting Yifei... We are getting there! 🤭😂And what's with those tea eggs? Do they taste any different from regular boiled eggs? What's the catch?

Investigation time

I am not that familiar with the finance and economics world to understand what kind of data they need from all those years ago and why, but I am really enjoying this investigation plot! 🕵️‍♂️📈 Them working together, away from everyone—it's the perfect time to grow closer and learn more about each other. 🥰Ms Fang now seems sus to me. 👀 I don't know if her agenda is good or bad; however, what I did get is that the guys they are investigating might have tempered with the data to cover something up. That probably explains why Xin You doesn't want to talk about it. 🤐I hope he'll listen to Yifei's advice and take his son to an autism specialist. 🥹

Ick. Du Lei leaves an icky feeling everytime he enters a scene.

Credit to actor Gau Han Yu, His portrayal of Du Lei just oozes creep. It's cringe to watch our innocent FL get caught up in his sticky slime.I hope they don't drag out some awful love triangle with this creep for very long. It was cute to see how jealous Yuan Shuai got when he saw her get out of the car with a rose! Side observation: For someone who is allegedly golf-obsessed. Deng Ke's golf swing is absolutely awful. The race car match was ... silly and cringe. And made no sense within the time constraints. This contrived 'suspense' was awkward and almost ruined the episode for me. But getting more of the backstory about what happened with her speech in high school was good.

Mitä serkumpi, sitä herkumpi?

Did I understand this episode correctly, because I heard the king call Ran his grandson? I mean, in fiction, anything goes, but it was a bit left-field to my inattentive ass. It doesn’t help that I was painting my nails while watching, and I don’t speak even a word of Thai.I finally got to see the lovey-dovey scenes I had been waiting for, and Ava is great, as always. In all honesty, she should just become the queen and let the old farts fight in the nursing home while the princes live their best rainbow lives and maybe do some environmental activism on the side, or something.

The end of the Marquis and all the subsequent consequences

Tianyang has been kneeling for two days to beg for mercy for his dad. The Marquis got his deal because the palace has received word that his confession has been signed and sealed with only Prince Ding and his man hearing testimony. The Empress Dowager is rather heinous granting the son a visit and having him give his father the poisoned wine. I wonder if her son will get the same honor?😝 Ms Wen is rejoicing at his death because for her, her husband is avenged. Ye Li realizes Xiu Yao knows about her mother and she is much more thoughtful and quiet. I am wondering who her new doll represents. QingShuang? Su Zuidie? Guo Jin? At the prison Gu Zheng is also satisfied. He is planning to write that epitaph he’s been dreaming about for 8 years. Prince Ding gives him a small smile but he’s torn inside with the news the Marquis gave him. His guard gets a happy Gu out of the room and gets the carriage. The Marquis spun his story well with just enough truth to make it plausible. He was instrumental in having Ye Li’s mother betrayed by the Ye family and Consort Qin aware of his plan so she had no fear intercepting. She did get the final laugh giving him a fake to burn. Xiu Yao knows it is not the whole truth, but he is now plagued with doubt. Was Ye Li pressured to marry him due to guilt for her mother’s role? Was she pressed to cure him for the debt her family owed him? This is unbearable for him and he collapses under the shock of it all. They are making this as poignant as possible with flashbacks and both in deep introspection. His guard returned long enough to get a change of clothes for him and smelling like meds. Ye Li was strongly encouraged to wait til his return. What should be a very happy day with the Marquis’ deeds being exposed and his entourage disgraced did not have Prince Ding smiling. The son heads the group leaving the capital with the Marquis’ body. The Prince and cavalry members have their honor restored. I wonder what the Empress Dowager is thinking as she created the one that did all these crimes. Does she reflect at all? or like the Consort goes with —out with the old and in with the new. There is a touching scene at XiuWen’s memorial. Ms Wen is telling him about all the wrongs righted. Her son is still trying to figure out happy tears. Xiu Yao is keeping very silent. She sends the boy and guards off for a task and has a heart to heart with Xiu Yao. She describes her relationship with his brother and of his final letter to set her free. I am not thanking her for planting this seed for him. Ye Li goes to hear the end of the story. It gave her her worst fear as the outcome and both lovers tragically died because separated. Xiu Yao did have to show up at home when she is out listening to a story.😝He directly asks her about her mother’s role with the edict and she directly answers. However, when she used recompense and compensation in regards to his brother at execution site, he interpreted that as her view of her marriage and healing him. She realized her wrong word choice for him too late. He hands her a box and we all already know what’s inside. Ms Wen, your attempt to help has become a blow instead. They have been better than most hurrying misunderstandings along in this drama and I am hoping this trend continues with this particular arc. It is necessary unfortunately, but hopefully not with unnecessary angst. Now waiting for tomorrow’s episode.😭

The Truth Hurts

The truth hit Mo Xiuyao so hard, but honestly, his reaction is frustrating me! Yes, their marriage started with hidden agendas and imperial edicts, but everything Ye Li did after was out of genuine care and love. The slow-burn chemistry between Cheng Lei and Bai Lu is brilliant, but this angst is killing me! Need episode 31 right now! 😭🌾

Climbing back

I somehow have a feeling that Yifei actually helps Fei a lot more than the other way around, but it works for them just fine. 😌How I hate that chick at Hejing! 😤 And to think, all she got for taking Fei's report from Ms Feng's office was a scolding. Alright, maybe they thought this time the documents weren't as important, but c'mon... To take ANYTHING from the boss's office without permission? The punishment she got wasn't even near what she deserved, imo! 😠And again they brought up the sad stories of their mothers... 🤧
