I really enjoyed every episode. I am happy for a program with very few toxic elements. Actors are very expressive and so relatable.

Read the headline? That's how I feel after watching the second episode. It started interesting and then suddenly it falters. After a while again it gets interesting and then gradually you will lose interest. And when your interest was about to be completely dipped, then the ending brings you back and now you are more interested in next episode. The screenplay should be tighter. Another thing is the weird BGM choice. It needs to be subtle , but here its loud and take away your attention from the scene. Overall a slightly better episode than its premiere.

First ImpressionWell well… our FL is definitely not someone to mess with. This episode starts revealing that there’s a lot more to her than just being a butcher’s daughter.🪷Episode ThoughtsEpisode 2 begins peeling back more layers about our female lead. From the synopsis I did wonder how a butcher girl could possibly end up on the battlefield later in the story, and now we’re starting to see why.🪷It turns out she has martial arts skills taught by her father, which explains her strength and confidence. We also learn that her parents were different from ordinary villagers, suggesting there’s more to their story that hasn’t been revealed yet.🪷As if life wasn’t already hard enough for her, a gambling uncle suddenly appears with a group of thugs demanding to take her house as repayment for his debts. But the real shock of the scene is that the “little butcher girl” absolutely woops their butts. It’s incredibly satisfying and shows exactly how capable she really is.🪷This moment also highlights who truly cares about the FL and her younger sister — and who absolutely does not. Her ex-fiancé continues to prove himself useless, basically hiding behind his mother and doing nothing to help. Honestly, both he and his mother are quickly climbing my villain list. And let’s not forget the village granny who clearly needs some karma too.🪷Because of everything happening around her, the FL starts to believe the only way to protect herself and her sister is by getting married. Everything points toward asking the ML, but her past experience with her ex-fiancé makes her hesitant and unsure.🪷In a quiet but meaningful moment, the ML overhears her talking to the pigs about her situation. When he later sees her, he promises that he will marry her. Considering everything she’s done to protect him, it really does feel like the least he can do.🪷Character Notes🪷Female LeadEven more impressive in this episode. Strong, skilled in martial arts, fiercely protective of her sister, and clearly someone who refuses to be bullied.🪷Male LeadObservant and thoughtful. He doesn’t miss much and his decision to promise marriage shows that he recognizes everything she’s done for him.🪷Ex-Fiancé & His MotherStill firmly in the “irritating and cowardly” category. The ex-fiancé being a complete mummy’s boy makes him even more frustrating.🪷Village CharactersSome clearly support the FL, while others (looking at you, village granny) are stirring trouble and deserve a little karma.🪷Final ThoughtsA really satisfying second episode that deepens the FL’s character and gives us some great action moments. The promise of marriage between the leads also moves the story forward in an interesting way.🪷Favourite MomentThe FL beating up the thugs sent by her gambling uncle. That scene perfectly shows that she is absolutely not someone to underestimate.🪷Trope Check • Hidden martial arts skills • Strong female lead • Gambling relative causing trouble • Trash ex-fiancé • Marriage of convenience setup • Protective male lead • Village gossip

everyone loved this ep - me not so much.. why we need any drama?!? this was smooth sailing & i was so there for it. as is their impending separation was enough drama for me. & Toma's father is giving some major shady vibes - his brother is goofy & funny. but the father, looks like he is up to something - the question is what & the bigger question how is it gonna effect/hurt the couple.

idk if i am more confused or annoyed by this ep, if this BL is trying to comment on the entertainment industry & the fabrication of both scandals & good deeds to control public image/reputation.... as this not a documentary, but about a character's life - i don't get Yo Ki's defeatist attitude from the start of this BL. ************************************************************************i get that he didn't want to come out (cause he knew how the "public" would react), as even if he cleared his name in regards to the D-list actresses, he would still "lose face" cause he was gay - basically jumping from the frying pan into the fire. so he went along with that manager & hid. but after the manager found a way to exposé her, he chose the high road just wanting to put the whole issue behind him. even after the mess with the villager's he chose to take the blame in-stead of trying to fight, same with the manager. he keeps bowing out & letting people walk all over him & i don't get this behavior, not when acting is his way of supporting himself & no matter how much money he has, am sure he not that rich that he can retire - which is more or less how he behaved by the end - i can't understand what the point of the story is??? just give up & karma will "take care" of the "bad guys"?!? really??? plz - **************************************************************************************************************** the fact the manager & the D-list actresses got exposed was cause of curious netizens (that started to wonder after Yo Ki came out) not cause they care about him - **********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************also i kinda didn't care to see Yang Meng after he said goodbye to his grandmother, what was the point? waste of screen time IMO - *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ironic that the couple that is shining in this BL r the 2nd couple, that almost didn't have any screen time, yet here they at the stage of meeting the family. cute how in-love both r.

Chang Yu is such a badass!!! Single-handedly kicking the butts of four men. 💪🤩Ning is such a sweetie pie and she must be protected at all costs! And the elder couple are golden!!!! They are the best matchmakers and not shy to talk about Zheng's "parts". Love it!!I cannot wait for their wedding and marriage. So excited for the upcoming episodes!!!And the white hawk just observes them... hmm... what's the significance of that bird? 🤔

First of all, I must praise the beautiful scenery and music—they are truly captivating. I’ve always loved a snowy winter, and the setting fits the story beautifully. There wasn't much opportunity to catch the full chemistry levels of our leads yet, but the sparks are definitely there. I loved how diverse the episode was—there were plenty of funny, sad, and tense moments—enough to draw a viewer in!However, despite this being only the first episode, I’ve already pinned a few questions I want answers to:1. Is Yan Zheng a deserter, and is that why he’s running and hiding?2. Who sent him that message with the white hawk?3. Who are those men in white coats chasing our ML?4. Was he near death because of the battle in his memories, or is there another reason?I loved Chang Yu’s braids! They were simple and perfect for the northern atmosphere and her lifestyle. I really hope she gets her mother’s hairpin back soon! I could sense how hard it was for her to part with it.Overall, I am already intrigued and want to watch the next episode! And, of course, I’m excited to see Zhang Linghe as a lead, as I’ve only seen him as a secondary character before.

Pursuit of Jade Episode 1

First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate the opening credits? Absolutely beautiful. Chef’s kiss.🐷The episode is well paced and gives us an early glimpse into both the FL and ML’s pasts. Our female lead is introduced in a way that immediately shows how strong and capable she is. She’s the daughter of a butcher, and the very first scene shows her slaughtering a pig — a stark but effective way to establish her resilience. After her parents were killed by bandits, she’s been left to care for her baby sister alone and is barely managing to get by. Despite the gossip and judgment from those around her, she keeps pushing forward.🐷 On her way home she quite literally stumbles across the injured male lead, who is buried under the snow and clearly hiding some dangerous secrets.🐷 Fate seems to intervene when she takes it as a sign from her late mother that she should save him. Watching her drag him home really highlights just how strong she is. Thankfully her neighbours help her, otherwise the poor ML might not have survived. There’s also a funny and oddly endearing moment where she nearly accidentally kills him by giving him too much medicine.🐷 Now that she has rescued him, she feels responsible for him — which means she has to somehow find the money to pay for his treatment. It’s heartbreaking to see her forced to pawn her mother’s hairpin just to afford the medicine.🐷We’re also introduced to her infuriating ex-fiancé, who had absolutely no problem accepting financial support from her family while studying. Now that she’s an orphan, however, he’s eager to break off their betrothal. His arrogance (and his mother’s attitude) already makes them very easy to dislike.🐷Meanwhile, the glimpses we see of the ML suggest a much bigger story unfolding. He appears to be the sole survivor of a battle, and there are hints of secret messages, soldiers searching for survivors, and political intrigue. This ultimately forces the FL to hide him in the pig pen to keep him safe.🐷For a first episode, this does a great job setting up the characters and the stakes. Our FL is already incredibly easy to root for, and the mystery surrounding the ML makes me curious to see where the story goes next.

For now, the first episode was just OK. Based on the premise, the next episodes might pick up stronger.Acting is fine, but for now story seems lacking.Hoping I am proved wrong so that the ratings will increase substantially,

Pursuit of Jade Episode 5

First ImpressionSo the newlywed phase lasts about five minutes before the troublemakers start multiplying again. Married life clearly isn’t going to be peaceful for these two.🪷Episode ThoughtsNow that the FL and ML are officially married, the village expects them to consummate the marriage — even though it’s really just a contract marriage. To keep the nosy aunt and uncle satisfied, the couple stages a little shadow show outside the room to make it look like they’re doing exactly that. It’s a hilarious moment and shows how well they’re already working together.🪷When news spreads through the village that refugees are being rounded up, the FL immediately worries about the ML. She rushes to make sure he has his papers in order, clearly concerned for his safety. What’s interesting here is that she isn’t thinking about what he can provide for her — she’s worried about him.🪷Meanwhile business is booming for the FL and she finally has enough money to redeem her mother’s hairpin. Unfortunately she discovers it’s already been redeemed. She’s upset because it’s the last real memento she has from her mother. This leads to a sweet glimpse into her past with her father and shows just how resilient she’s always been.🪷One thing that’s becoming clearer this episode is that the ML is slowly falling for her. She isn’t after his money, his status, or his title — which she doesn’t even know about yet. Instead she’s worried about him risking himself and is even willing to work harder so he can have an easier life. Considering the kind of power he seems to hold, I imagine most women around him would be interested in what he could give them. Her attitude must feel incredibly refreshing.🪷Of course the troublemakers aren’t done. The ex-fiancé and his mother return — this time bringing along the county magistrate’s daughter.🪷This trio is absolutely shameless. They clearly believe they can still look down on the FL, but the ML isn’t having it. He pulls out a scroll listing all the money the FL’s family spent supporting the ex-fiancé over the years, exposing just how much he owes them. It’s a perfect public humiliation.🪷The magistrate’s daughter throws in some nasty words before leaving — which feels like the beginning of a new rivalry.🪷Finally we learn who the ML has been secretly sending messages to: the Headmaster of Luyuan Academy of Hejian. We still don’t know the full story behind their connection, but it’s clear the ML has powerful allies working behind the scenes.🪷Which means the ex-fiancé, his mother, and the magistrate’s daughter might want to be careful about who they’re provoking.🪷Character Notes🪷Female LeadStill incredibly resilient. She’s hardworking, practical, and fiercely protective of the people around her. She doesn’t care about status or wealth — she just wants to survive and protect what she has.🪷Male LeadThis episode really shows that he’s slowly falling for the FL. She treats him like a normal person and worries about his safety instead of what he can give her. Considering his hidden status, that must be incredibly rare for him.🪷Ex-Fiancé, His Mother & Magistrate’s DaughterA new trio of villains. Arrogant, entitled, and clearly underestimating both the FL and ML.🪷Final ThoughtsEpisode 5 continues building the conflicts around the couple while also showing the growing bond between them. The ML publicly defending the FL was incredibly satisfying, and the reveal of his connection to the academy suggests much bigger things are coming.🪷Favourite MomentThe ML pulling out the scroll listing everything the FL’s family paid for the ex-fiancé’s education. Absolute humiliation.🪷Trope Check • Contract marriage • Fake consummation misunderstanding • Trash ex-fiancé • Rich rival girl • Protective male lead • Secret powerful ally • Villain humiliation
