Bring the Tissue

I bawled my eyes out this ep. End of life care is no doubt tough! The actor playing Tatsu was great and he helped Dr Tokino shine here.

really enjoying the foodie elements but both…

really enjoying the foodie elements but both leads are really really insufferable - perhaps the original web novel is cheesy and full of gags which is why this adaptation follows suit, but it really didn't fit the vibe i anticipated. the acting is fine and the period fashion is great as i'd hoped, but i'm a little let down in terms of an initial start. we haven't gotten to her chefmaxxing however so i'll keep watching(shout out to the really bad cliff falling greenscreen btw)

Spies like us

So now the new recruit wants to join a northeast volunteer army and Cheng supports it and asks Mr Gu to help the group make it there safely. In return Mr Gu wants a lot of medical supplies and hard to get equipment. Here is where he better not get Cheng and Si Yun killed for helping him. Ya know, I was too optimistic about Si Yun’s brother. I honestly thought there might be a liver of repentant human there, and then ya find out he has a pregnant wife upstairs who thinks he is wealthy and owns the hospital. She is acting like a spoiled brat so that ain’t helping.😝 The first wife is actually washing her feet. Sister gets her out of the room and daughter gives the tea about dear old dad.😝😂🥳 So they leave to cheaper pastures and the mom becomes a new medical recruit. Si Yun promises to train her. Not sure if as midwife or nurse, but she is a giver by nature so she will be a ray of sunshine no matter what job she ends up doing. The mom deserves the brat wife but since she’s pregnant she probably will gush over her rather than chastise son. Dalun is back and Shen tries to big brother him in the hall. Dalun resents it because he thinks Shen is a big phony and he really wants nothing to do with him. When he finds out who Dalun is working with under government contract he invites him to dinner and is refused. He talks Cheng into arranging it and they will have dinner that night. Cheng and Dalun both find out dad has a new pregnant wife. Dalun says is a brother because of pointy belly. 😂 I have no idea if this is more myth than fact, it’s just funny that he takes the time to believe it. The meal is a disaster when Dalun gets lippy and Shen calls in two MPs. Unfortunately things escalate and Shen orders them to kill him. So Cheng takes second gun to his head and tells him to order it. Shen doesn’t and Cheng and Dalun leave. Shen shows up with 2 fifths of something and starts drinking down the bottle. Cheng takes one long drink of bottle two and heads to the movies. He and Si Yun have figured out how to get the items but not how to transport them yet. I really don’t want them tangling with Dalun et al. They are given carte blanche with permission for lethal response. It is funny how Cheng tries to trick Si Yun into holding his hand. She calls him on it and teases his hand is sweaty. He takes his hand away and she grabs it. The episode ends with them both grinning and holding hands. 🥰

Choosing sides

While SiYun is rallying herself together Cheng and Shen are bickering in the adjoining room. When she is finally tired of it she leaves to find Mrs Shen. Her son tells her how Mr Dong got a bit out of hand but was handled. She corners them with who introduced her question and son has to admit fault. She is far from happy and offers to personally escort her to the right people for investing. Cheng assured her that there will be no repeats. Mrs Shen asks Si Yun directly that with Mr Dong being an issue things might get difficult and Si Yun lets her know her clinic will happen no matter how difficult. There is a man killed in the bathroom and everybody is getting checked at the door. The waiter who has had two other names tossed around is also Mr Gu from shantytown. They are holding him at the door and Cheng and father get him out. He does remember to go back and get Si Yun. There is a father/son chat about Mr Gu and Cheng is strongly warned about not getting involved in politics. This is also where mentioned Cheng is adopted son. The house has been purchased by Mrs Shen and she comes to get paperwork. Si Yun then learns that Mrs Shen is considering this her investment and she wants the hospital here. Yi Sun can’t believe her good fortune. As it is changed to be a hospital Cheng visits and offers his legal services. She is not to worry about paying he considers himself a second investor. I like where Cheng is cornered by Ms Shen and asked directly if he has feelings for Si Yun, his response, I simply have no feelings for you.😂Then when asked who is better he responds Si Yun is excellent and he gave no such recommendation for her. I don’t think he would have typically been that harsh, but she needed to truly understand he wasn’t interested. The niece returns from school and sees the new hospital coming into shape. She is headed to her old room now part of the dormitory. It was cute watching her guy bring in her luggage for her and then immediately excuse himself. Cheng then has a chat with his sidekick and son about the military. Dad is all against and Cheng supports him. During training there was an issue where the boy was beaten and jailed for communist thinking. He wanted clarification about why politics were more important than fighting invasion forces. This went to court and the jury is out tho it looks promising to go his way. Si Yun invites Ao to lunch and the kid responds. When chastised by his dad, Cheng includes them. Si Yun wasn’t as happy but said that is what Mr Cheng wanted.😂 I don’t think he will be asked out again any time soon.😂They are headed out for food and episode ends.

SPOILERS ;mostly characterization critiques & then major plot issues

i don't really like noumen ,i understand he is supposed to be robotic & callous but that doesn't make it a pleasant or invigorating watching experience ,i feel like maybe slightly ,SLIGHTLY going a comedic route could work better. i just think kamikawa takaya is so stiff & fake in this performance & that it isn't really going anywhere engaging. i definitely do not want him to have some deep ,traumatic back+story i think that would be corny & cliche ,like i said i think it genuinely would be funnier for him to just be like this even in monotonous situations that makes everypony uncomfortable. but him not having some big & bad origins ,i think it would be cooler just to have him be somepony wityh a strong moral he sticks to like a person watching this drama & not like a contrivbed fictional character.& on that note i think soryo has the depth of kindergarten instructions i think every move she makes & dialogue she is given is just so convenient it is tiring. she is our perspective character that is supposed to ask the things we are thinking to noumen & this is going to be ironic for my next point but she is literally just like a jaded employee phoning it in because they don't really give af that much. i think she is a missed opportunity at portraying the demographic tuning into this drama. the world is basically entirely made up of under±classed workers. we are all cogs to the machine ,we work for the sake of living ,& we are all jaded. maybne not all of us but a majority yes. thgere is just small changes they could make to reflect a more nuanced person that everypony is. why does soryo choose to stay ,what does soryo gather from noumen's off+course methods ,why does soryo not understand oshikatsuu. i am not asking for brand new scenes & a recut i just literally want to see her exist & process emotions instead of being a cue card for what noumen is thinking or needs to do.now onto the biggest gripe i have with this episode. i do not fucking life centering male sexual assault assailants. i understand why we are doing this for the first episode ,this specific archetype is the perfect example of strong social reactions & stigmatization & works extremely well for having us investigate the taboos & accepted injustices in our world. but this is not a new & novel plot+point especially not from every other j-drama i have seen. therew is this constant framing of sexual violence being a false accusation that is destroying the life of the accused & here we have an innocent otaku set up by a high+school girl who serially accuses with the real culprit of the murder is his sister that he is valliantly protecting. i think there is merit to having this be discussed & portrayed & i am not going to make a sweeping statement about all of j-dramas but i have yet to see sexual violence victims & misogyny given as much spot+light. this is literally propaganda like . . . i will see this show out because i stan onishi ryusei but liek i highly doubt we will see a case portraying & caring for a female victim &or victim of sexual violence.as i just said i will be seeing this show out. i will always have a good time with a mystery & investigation ,i started suspecting the mother after the context flash+back scene with her & rumi but it makes sense that her emotional out±burst in interrogation was a red herring. i was really hoping the sister would be okay the entire time though ,her complex feelings about constantly being surrounded by female high+school characters being unsettling really stuck with me. but really i will finish this for my little ryuche hehe i think it's so funny how all of the acting work i see from him is just ryuche in a new setting context like he will always just be my cutie honey & i am perfectly satisfied with him staying that way.

Performance

If you enjoy dramas that make you smile, cry, and remember your own youth, My Youth is worth watching. It isn’t about flashy twists — it’s about the ordinary but unforgettable moments of growing up, falling in love, and learning who you are.-

Perfect

I loved every second of Episode 6! This series is truly amazing—the actors are perfect. Supanut as Worradej and the Prince is picture-perfect, born for this role. His emotions in the poison scene with Banjong were outstanding—he’s an excellent actor.

Uptown and shantytown

I am not happy Si Yun settled out of court but I am sure Cheng got her a fair deal. If this rids her of mother and brother, that’s not such a bad thing. She refuses to use Zeng money so she has fallen behind in payments. She shows Mrs Shen and daughter her house. The daughter sees this a way to stick it to Si Yun under the guise of kindness. She asks her mother to buy it so she can open some eateries on both floors. She even offers Si Yun a discount.😝 I like the conversation and shared letter with sis in law. She wants to know if Si Yun considers her a failure as mother. Yi Sun honestly responds. She is just in a hard place with her husband and mother in law. I like that these two women like and respect each other. There is great trust between them because she does leave her daughter’s care to Yi Sun. She recognizes they are kindred spirits and that her daughter will thrive under her aunt’s care and minimally suppressed by her father. Politician Shen wants Cheng to muscle in on shantytown and calm things down. I like how Cheng gets his sidekick to use Shen’s money to pass out to the workers stuck there. Cheng returns the next day with provisions and Si Yun to have an impromptu clinic on site. She has been invited to an upscale gathering and attends with Cheng. I like how Shen tries to reduce him to driver status and Cheng politely asks him to step aside. Si Yun is referred to Mr Dong to consider investing. She remembers him from approving her hospital. The two guys chat and for the second time the Communist party is brought up. The first was when he was having tea with his father and the dad knew the waiter. The waiter denied knowing him but did take note of the job possibility. The dad warns Ao that this guy was not one to make enemies with. No matter what side he was on it was best to be allied. While Shen and Cheng are talking the sister pops up and says what a big pervert the guy is Si Yun is talking to. He tried to assault her but she found a pen and made her point.😝 He is now going to be yet another obstacle for her. Shen is an idiot. He is at least diverting the hospital issue by promising the son could be accepted in military academy with special attention from teachers. He heads to hospital to have his injury checked out and Cheng heads to room and sees Si Yun sitting. He asks her how she is and she’s not quite sure how to respond to that. Usually I roll my eyes when the sis shows up but this time she did a good thing, even if by accident.

Amazing epiosde 6

Episode 6 is truly amazing—an emotional rollercoaster filled with love, drama, hurt, and action that deserves a full 10/10. Every single scene is unforgettable. My heart broke for Worradej, who suffered so much, especially in the painful moment when Banjong gave him poison. And The Prince stood on the right side—it was perfect and powerful. Jude’s suffering is so heartbreaking scenes added even more depth, leaving a lasting impact. And just when the emotions were so heavy, the ending with Kosol and the Prince brought the perfect touch of humor to balance it all. This episode proves once again why I’m the Most Beautiful Count is a masterpiece—I loved every second of it!

Dances and depositions

Mother and daughter clear the air about suing. The mother calls her names and disowns her. I am glad Yi Sun stood up to her. That she stands so steadfastly with her waste of a son is reprehensible. It is more disgusting that she demonizes the dutiful daughter and wishes her dead. 😝 I am glad Cheng Ao is in her corner assisting. The Shen siblings. They are amusing and annoying. Their mother is such a reasonable intelligent and capable woman. How did their father indulge them to this extent?😝😂 Ya gotta laugh at the siblings literally sitting on their crushes. 😂They are shameless. Then to call in Qiao for his version of breakup. Seems he has already met Mr Cheng, so he gives a brief summation of how guiltless Si Yun is in their situation, toasts Cheng and hastily leaves. 😂😝 The Shen sister finds that boring and makes no attempt to hide her contempt for Si Yun. She is reined in by her mother but still stomps off when Ao and Si Yun take the dance floor. I cracked up when she called him pillager and how Shen had to duck under their arms. Lin Si Yun has been made a pariah at every bank in Shanghai thanks to the Qiao family. They returned fire with publicity in newspaper. Cheng Ao fights for her with Mr Zeng. He wants to find other ways to legitimately get their money while simultaneously investing in healthcare. They will have public approval by providing public support. A win/win for one that wants to get away from the ‘collection’ business. It is coming to light that the brother forged a will to steal all the inheritance. What is worse he and mother team up in the hospital to make Si Yun not sue. I thought she took meds of some sort to fake heart attack, but maybe not even that. She lies to get her daughter to step down from suing with her Oscar winning performance. Mr Cheng is collecting solid evidence and getting women pillars of the community to support her. Her niece is with friends at a bonfire. She draws a very handsome picture of her rescuer. He hints of war on the horizon and desire to be a great soldier. He encourages her to pursue her art. Her loving offering to her aunt to help with legal fees.❤️ She is so lucky to have her aunt’s support and vice versa. It is wonderful to see some solidarity in the Lin family for the right causes. The rest of them are lost causes.😝🙄 Mr Cheng’s conversation with the brother. It’s not gonna stick but waiting to see if you can fix stupid. 😝Now to see how Si Yun treats her mother’s duplicity.😝

Family feud

Cheng Ao is an angel in disguise. Lin Si Yun despises him, but he let her see with her own eyes what she would be marrying. Turns out that he had a harem in the wings and not just his 15 yr old most likely pregnant child mistress. Ya gotta love the line of guys reading his love letters to different girls. He thinks he is doing her such a great service and she tells the paper.😂 I love her boldness when women don’t get a say. Shen’s sister is much like Dalun and has her eye on lawyer Cheng. 🫣😂😬 She is one to steer clear of but she will keep life interesting. She should run off with Dalun and have a great adventure, but they may be too similar. Maybe that is why she is drawn to the quiet and subdued Mr Cheng. Ms Lin has severed her ties to the Qiao’s and I hope it doesn’t affect her clinic. Mr Cheng is an angel to another. He helps the pregnant lady escape from the dueling politicians who now have no use for her. I hope the money and identification card came from Shen’s slush fund. 😝 Brother Lin, let me kick that chair aside for you. They all knew he was ridiculous but I sure wish one would have done it just to shut him up. The mother, 😝🙄 she sees her capable daughter as the turncoat and destroyer of their family. Women are supposed to do what they are told, even to their detriment. I don’t even care enough about her to stay angry. She and son fall under the category “I have no use for you”. The brother has set his daughter Yi up with the Zhu’s. He lets her know at dinner she is sitting by her husband. She storms out and he ‘disciplines’ her on the street. A handsome stranger intercedes for Yi and after a second attack Si Yun calls the police. It’s an interesting meet cute, but these two are happy to have met. 😂🥰 Si Yun is surprised but not unhappy at the meeting. When matriarch is on her high horse demeaning the women in her family, her daughter offers to take responsibility for all her niece’s expenses and remove her from their home. Her sister in law agrees with her and both young women leave their home for greener pastures. Yay for them. 🥳 Sometimes the only thing you can do with family is keep as much distance as possible, because there is much truth in the saying Silence is golden. I feel a bit sorry for brother’s wife, but she has a son that will keep her in good standing with mother in law.

Weirdly edited (spoilerish review)

Okay, this was a little weird to watch. On one hand: It looked like they didn‘t have all the actors available anymore for this episode. Because that didn‘t look like that French man we got to know with Lady Pa. Doesn‘t have to be but would be a little odd. — The fathers are just gone… 🤷‍♀️ —Just saw in the cast list: Ram (Thee‘s father) married the love of his life Ruedi? When did that happen? Did I miss that part in this episode? Did they originally plan/have more episodes to tell the story? — And did Rati and Thee go to France now or not? Doesn‘t look like it. After that emotional goodbye I thought it‘d end with them traveling or working together or idk.— The portrayal of Mhek and Dech kinda rubbed me the wrong way, too. They felt a little off character in their behaviour. — Generally the editing was a little jumpy. Like: Mhek and Dech appear to say hello to Rati and then a scene later it looks like they haven‘t seen each other for a whole day. The thing with them saying goodbye and then we just have to imagine they went. The whole episode jumped back and forth and skipped idk how much time just to show us this and that. And then that post Director credit scene was odd. Wrongly placed. — It was an episode where we learned about the ending of the characters we care most about but how it was done kinda ruined the mood a little. I wasn‘t really back in the story (only in the beginning of the episode) like I was for the rest of the series. The editing made this a not so enjoyable ending. Unfortunately. Because I loved the series.
