Keeps you entertained
Not much to say about this movie, it wasn’t the most amazing or out of this world, it reminded me a lot of korean revenge plots which is why i liked it a lot. i loved the acting as well, all good actors but i think some scenes were a little confusing and at times i wasn’t really sure what was happening.also…director cha is his sister ?! and she tried to kiss him ?!…okay that was just nasty…
i really thought she was his wife at first or something but i guess not.
also i really liked the plot that cha liked boksoon since they met. sets the tone of their relationship a lot more, i think i would’ve lowkey enjoyed this story more if it was about them in their younger years. also i kept speculating if they would show who the father is…but i have my suspicions that it might’ve been cha…don’t know though.
overall a good enough movie. i would love another sequel with the daughter or a movie about cha and boksoon when they were younger, their story intrigued me a lot!!!

A beautiful representation of life, the good and the bad...
I was not expecting this movie to slap this hard, i was taken in since the first scene. It depicts the struggle, the pain and the need to understand one's emotions, in a way that makes you engaged with each dialogue, questioning how life can be this unfair while all you're asking is for your love to be acknowledged and respected...
The lead actors, made every scene come to life, each and every emotion was shown through their eyes, expressions and actions...
It hurts watching this movie but in a beautiful way.
I highly recommend watching it.

A little bit boring but pretty moving
It''s pretty well done for a short movie. It manages to capture quite a lot in a short period without feeling rushed. In fact, it's a little too slow paced for me lolIt's kinda boring, although it's touching and moving at same time
I guess, it depends on what you're looking for
It's a nice movie to watch on a rainy day where you just wanna chill. Nothing dramatic, nothing thrilling, or too fancy
Just sweet friendship, lovely moments and simple story.

I didn't want to give, I definitely recommend it, because some individuals may not understand this complexity, see the example of the reviews here.
Postupně začíná do sebe všechno zapadat, čtyři mladí korejští herci rozehrají dramatickou partii a vyloupne se hodně kvalitní prožitek života, smrti, lásky i zmaru a hlavně ... NADĚJE.
Nechtěl jsem dát určitě doporučuji, neboť někteří jedinci tuto složitost, viz příklad zdejších recenzí, nemusí pobrat.

The main character of the film - Franco (JM Martinez) really has nothing to be ashamed of his body. He ended up being cast in about three more Filipino gay movies.
And now to the picture itself. The local acting "star" Brent doesn't look that attractive, he has other - acting strengths that put him in the limelight of "fame" in the local Philippine area. About two scenes in the film, to make it clear, are just Frank's "imaginations" of what he would do with Brent in bed, because Brent is a heterosexual and from the radio broadcast it appears that he is currently looking for some smart ladies.
I will not look for negatives, those who need to massage their bruised egos will laugh at that, and from the positives of the film, I highlight that the creators wanted to show the issue of fanaticism towards "stars", who are just as ordinary people as others, stalking, which can lead to criminal acts, you will also learn more about the homes of poorer Filipinos, not just the "tinsel" that we know from BL series and movies...
A teď ke snímku samotnému.

An absolutely outstanding performance by 39-year-old Taiwanese actor Mo Tzu-Yi (Morning Mo) in the lead role and other high-level acting. Such a deep film about a struggling gay character deserves a translation, which was translated by M.anon at my suggestion now in mid-March 2021. Those Taiwanese don't seem ....
Naprosto vynikající výkon 39ti letého taiwanského herce Mo Tzu-Yi (Morning Mo) v hlavní roli a i další herecké výkony na vysoké úrovni.

The important thing for me in the film is - love is eternal as is the soul, and the creators and actors portrayed this very beautifully. Dew (Ohm), Pob as a youngster (Nont), Pob as an adult (Weir) and Natcha (Pahn, although small in stature, but a beautiful, laid-back "schoolgirl" at 28 years old). For the "adults", I didn't notice that there was only a 6-year difference between them.
A completely deep and terrifyingly mystical experience...
The creators and all the actors contributed a lot to the project.
Ty ostatní diváky příběh nezasáhne, protože tu klapku v duši mají zavřenou, ale to není urážka, každý člověk to prostě vnímá jinak.
Naprosto hluboký a až děsivě mystický zážitek ...
Tvůrci i všichni herci do projektu přispěli mírou vrchovatou.

Yes, maybe someone will find the story very simple and too many songs and Korean music, sometimes a bit louder orchestra (that's why I'm deducting one point for the sound in the rating from absolute perfection), but for me this music from the movie is an experience and I came recently for the taste of Asia. Plus two cute Korean actor-singers, what more could you ask for?
And I also know that once I watch the movie a second, third time, I will like it more and more thanks to the music. I have added music videos from this movie to the videos.

I don't even think I've ever watched a movie like this before. It was as if this was a mind trip lol. Was it an anime? Supernatural-ish? Quite honestly it was hard to follow. Meguro Ren is a STAR !!! Electric and so much charisma in every scene. He is IT !!!! It's almost as if he jumped out of anime? He was insane in this !!!I was not even familiar with him prior to this but he gained a fan in me .Loved the Female Lead acting as well. Im rating this high because the Lead actor was everything, cinematography was amazing and I loved the special effects as well. It was well worth the wait ( we were waiting for English subtitles forever lol so thank you to the kind subbers). Was this review helpful to you?
For CQL Fans
Between Fatal Journey and The Living Dead, this is definitely the better spin-off movie, but it's still missing some cohesion. I watched this mostly because I wanted to see Nie Huaisang's perspective as he started his grand plan, but the story really focuses instead on the actual ancestral tomb incident and the jump to the mastermind prequel is really sudden and feels tacked on at the end.I think Nie Mingjue is the most true to his character in this movie, and it was wonderful seeing the relationship between the brothers, but on the other hand...Nie Huaisang actually feels kind of out of character. He was always characterized as someone who didn't want to take on responsibility and just wanted to enjoy life — until he was forced to act. There were several moments here where he became really courageous and outspoken about justice and it just didn't really feel like him.
I do think this was good fanservice and as a huge fan of CQL it made me happy to see everyone again (even (especially) the villains).

Super light romcom
Sometimes in life you want something easily digested and sweeter than the sweetest honey. If so, this is the pick for you.Imagine a classic American Hallmark Christmas movie. Then exchange the Christmas theme for “k-drama fan girl gets to meet her idol oppa”, then you get the idea of the story.
It is light, it is full of cliches and prejudices about k-drama fan girls and k-drama actors, but it’s also fun and heartwarming.
As long as you are aware this is NOT a movie with an intriguing or complex storyline or with deeper insights to the characters life or feelings, and you want a super light romcom - you will take this movie to your heart.

Thought provoking. Confronting the arrogance of the ´normal´. Truly outstanding acting performance
"Oasis" was highly celebrated by international film critics in 2002. Director and screenwriter Lee Chang-dong, who had with "Peppermint Candy" in 1999 already contributed a milestone in Korean film art, came up with this unusual love story between a mentally retarded young man and a young woman with infantile cerebral palsy. In doing so, he once again relied on Sol Kyung-gu and Moon So-ri, who had proven themselves as a couple in "Peppermint Candy" and who now once again deliver truly outstanding acting performances in "Oasis". The list of international awards – i.e. in Venice, Vancouver, Bergen, Brisbane, Seattle and Seville - as well as in South Korea, is long. And rightly so.“Oasis” is pure (independent) KMovie! It impressively embodies a great strength of South Korean movie production: ruthlessness! Even if social life is characterized by facades, coats, make-up and social reputations, modern South Korean cinema has (since the end of dictatorial censorship) proven what 'independence' really means. The freedom to finally show things the way they really are! Not being afraid of what is hurting, what is ugly, what is disgusting! The brutal revelation of the emotional abyss to which the human soul may be exposed over the course of a human life. Situations and moments in life that people tend/wish to quickly forget. The cruelties that people are capable of inflicting on each other. The look behind the facades and underneath the coats, where we are naked and without make-up, alone and vulnerable. But this is where we are sincere and real, too. From there, a new form of beauty and strength can grow. KMovies bring to light even the unloved, unpleasant, repressed, despised, perverted, uninhibited, disturbing human emotions with magnificent intensity, which are often presented so authentically that it hurts (because it's so true). The protagonists have no claim whatsoever to be likeable. This creative courage, when it comes to production and performance, as well as the audience´s willingness to open up to these cinematic works is (in my opinion) almost unique.
“Oasis” offers an impressive expression of this particular artistic attitude. This is a thought provoking KMovie confronting the arrogance of the ´normal´. The plot is about a young woman and a young man who – in the eyes of their social environment - preferably should be socially isolated and actually locked away, as they are supposedly unpresentable. Because of their disability, they are ultimately just a nuisance, causing work and trouble, irritating the 'normal' people with their unpredictable behavior, and actually not contributing anything... Because the families are ashamed of them.
The KMovie bluntly frames that social norms are in fact more important to 'us' than people. "Oasis" encourages to open up a bit and approach the lives of those 'waywards'. And lo and behold! They are sensitive, soulful people like 'us' - with feelings, dreams and longings. They are falling in love. They long for relationships. They are just people, too. Lovable people. Adults with their own lives.
'He' is a physically healthy man in his late 20s, but at the mental level of an 8 year old. He is strong, but easy to manipulate and rather simple-minded. 'She', on the other hand, is physically handicapped due to her severe infantile cerebral palsy to such an extent that she is dependent on help. Due to the impairment of her nervous system, which affects voluntary motor skills, speech disorders, spasms, as well as sensory and motor limitations are occurring, too. Intelligence isn't actually her problem, but that young woman in "Oasis" apparently wasn't given any specific assistance, just basic care. She has her difficulties communicating.
The way the families treat their ´waywards´ is horrendous. In fact, they are both unscrupulously exploited and abused. And both are helpless in their own ways. He doesn't fully grasp the situation. She is physically dependent on helping hands.
The romantic relationship between the two is quite something else. Their start can be considered downright dubious. And yet, as the odd couple they are, they both are happy together. The picture of the oasis on the wall jumps out of its frame and fills the room. In their togetherness, the couple has created an almost magic space where their souls can relate and recharge, where they can be a different person. It is touching, indeed. ´He´ is a responsible man and she is a desirable woman! Yet, this reality is completely alien to their social environment. The families don't have the slightest idea, that this could be even possible: those two ´handicapped losers´ being actually able to genuinely caring for each other and loving each other just the way they are. Not even their closest families honestly tried to truly reach out and attempt to understand their brother/sister.
Bringing the quality of this relationship against all odds authentically to the audience is the unique beauty and strength of “Oasis”. Although 'beauty' is not otherwise something, one would directly associate with this movie. There is hardly any beauty in the world of those two protagonists, where their environment isn´t taking them serious at all. They are either patronized or treated in a disrespectful and disdainful manner. Nevertheless, their feelings for each other radiate beauty and grace. Interaction may inevitably be rather awkward, but still they find their unique way. In the end, it all comes to an almost passionately brilliant finale when HE risks everything in order to by all means keep his promise to HER: sawing off the branches of the tree in front of her window, which only cast shadows on her beloved oasis picture on the wall...
The KMovie leaves us with our thoughts behind. Touched. And - substitutional for those two families, the police, the neighbors etc., who in their arrogance are blind to the inner world of those two lovers – ashamed, too.

A Trilogy Masterpiece
If you had asked me way back when if I would have given this whole trilogy a thumbs-up, I would not have. I dislike intensely exploitive and abusive-themed series, especially gay ones, for entertainment purposes, but this one was so beautifully choreographed and focused. It is a love story defined by them, experienced by them, and simply words are inadequate to identify their relationship. I do not know how to describe their relationship beyond inadequate words like fervent, inseparable, and unending. Their ‘red string’ to borrow a concept is tied inexorably between them. If there is a connection greater than ‘soulmates’ these two share that. This, along with the other two, are masterpieces of artistry and cinematic storytelling. Was this review helpful to you?
