6 Days of Doomsday (/Doomsdom)

So the progress goes:

6 days ago:
Do I smell a series that will not give the young audience the standard digestible, forgivable cheating, but the very hurtful deal? I'm in!

3 days ago:
My oh my, I am into ep. 6 and I am fed up with Toh and Jimmy, the characters (fortunately we have the lovable, adorable Fah Teh here). Jimmy is just a greedy baby who will not say no to anything since it is offered to him, while Toh just doesn't know when to stand up and leave. If he did, maybe many more things could be solved.

Jimmy? He is your friend? Well, you have too many friends for my liking.
And Toh? You do realize you have more things in your life than the male organ between your legs, right?

OK. Now go and do something with your lives, because this is horrible.

2 days ago:
EP. 8

Jimmy: "I tried my best."
Me: This is your BEST?! đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€đŸ™€

/then it got worse/

Jimmy: "He was so stubborn."
Me: Victim blaming? đŸ€”

Jimmy, the f**k, grow up first, please. You are as dumb as a rock and twice as useless. If lying after a cheat-and-lie game is somehow "the best you could do," then you have a loooong way to go to learn how to do things properly.

And a suggestion — try exchanging your flings for some self-development. It would do you a world of good.

The last day of torture:

Why did this get stupider and stupider with each later episode?

I would say that, in the writing, the story itself was written fine — it could stand — but the relationships were written very poorly. It is a very strange mix of quite deep potential for personalities that somehow landed flat, as if someone had written it while thinking about secondary-school relationships.

They were not the worst kind of flat characters at first, but they became flat in the later stages of development — and you can't recognize that from the first episodes.

It somehow culminated with supporting characters in the last episode doing something totally improbable that no normal adult would realistically plan to do. But it strangely sounds like a secondary-schooler fantasy or wish for things to happen that way.

It is not an entirely bad story, and whatever is bad about it does not have anything to do with the budget. It is just that the majority of us seem to be adults, or at least of an adult mindset, and even if shown kindly, these stereotypes from the story do not appear in this format in real life.

So as fantasy it is fine, but you need to have huge objections when comparing it with normal behavior or acceptable paths in these situations.

Note: it was not the acting or the chemistry of the actors — that was good.

There is also a certain level of comfort, cuteness, and security, and that is mostly delivered thanks to the fact that you know how it will happen. You know the Happy Ending in advance. You know you will run into some hurtful stuff, but it is not going to be a fatal transgression. No mortal trespass.

And so it is still a comfortable and, in places, cute watch, which makes it digestible even if most of the actions are not.

Favorite Thai GL

Roller Coaster is a well-produced drama with strong cinematography, music, and emotionally convincing performances. The series explores complicated relationships and the emotional conflicts that come with them in a thoughtful and engaging way. The chemistry between the main characters works well, and the intimacy scenes feel natural and meaningful rather than exaggerated.

The use of artwork throughout the series adds an interesting visual layer that reflects Pure’s character and profession. One of the drama’s greatest strengths lies in its character dynamics. The story takes time to explore both the positive and negative emotional developments within the relationships, portraying complex feelings such as hesitation, guilt, and inner conflict in a believable way.

However, the pacing becomes somewhat uneven toward the end, and certain story developments could have been explained more clearly. While the emotional tension builds effectively throughout the series, the conclusion feels slightly rushed compared to the careful build-up earlier in the story. Some plot points would have benefited from additional dialogue or clearer explanations.

Overall, Roller Coaster is an engaging relationship drama with strong emotional moments, even if the final resolution could have been handled more smoothly.

BOD

I cannot lie this drama was good. The plot was good, the cast and the story I can tell some of these people writing their reviews have skipped until they saw something that they did not like and that’s okay but you cannot lie that the acting was good and the chemistry between the actors are good too. I’m the kind of person who does not lie about a kdrama, if the kdrama is good I will say it, it’s not I will admit it. So people saying the acting is bad and that the actress should stick to singing is kind of offensive. You can tell her acting is amazing in BOD. You can tell her acting has improved since snowdrop (2021)

Dare You To Boredom!

The protagonists and many, many of the supporting cast are so handsome that the iceberg that sank the Titanic would have melted into a mere ice cube if these guys were in one location on the top deck of that ship. Their radiant good-looks melted everything bad about this series away which included an absurdly dumb murder mystery and, sorry to say, rather mediocre acting. If one honestly assessed this series with any sense of objectivity and detachment, one would see how wrought this series was. Everything about this series felt lazy to me. The writing and directing was frustratingly inept. The story drones on ad nauseum. One would suffer from neck whiplash the way this series ping-ponged from murder mystery to love story with no understandable transition. From my perspective, it just was not all that good no matter how you looked at it and is essentially forgettable.

Thorny relationships in a tangled web

Finished this convoluted drama, that will not appeal to everyone because of its themes and unusual format. It is not the usual romance to binge, and fast forwarding will lose the audience, who tread the tight rope line along Bei, Gong and Xiaoxi, where other characters weigh in to trip others up and drag them down into (senti)mental abysses.

The cast has many actors:
Liu Yuning (playing the mysterious bag appraiser Bei), in a very special love triangle with
Vengo Gao (as the mercurial comics artist Gong cruelly betrayed by a jealous woman who had hired Xiaoxi), and Wang Ziwen ("relationships appraiser" florist Li Xiaoxi/seductress Jiang Yifan) ;
Jiang Xin (Yu, older woman in a flagging marriage), Jason Gu (musician Xiu, Yu's husband) and Huang Ziqi (actress Luanluan) also in an unholy triangle;
Zhu Jiaqi (red haired photographer Sen) with Vivienne Tien/Chen Jiaying (Mingming, employee long pursued by Sen) and Zhou Dawei (Mingming's former suitor, photographer A Lun), alongside other men and women who distrust feelings, some who play characters who make a living from cheaters like Gong Beibi (the redoubtable Guan Jie madam of the women's club who used Li Xiaoxi to break up couples) or Ming Dao (the psychologist Lin Chen).
The relationship chart on https://wiki.d-addicts.com/images/a/a6/About_Love_Chart.jpg (unfortunately not translated in the MDL photo section copy) is not altogether straightforward.

The opening Douban rating of 6.3 from 19,600 ratings is honorable although we would like to see higher ratings for a Liu Yuning drama. This adult target drama, filmed in August 2023 and postponed while three previously filmed dramas were released before it (filmed in 2021 "Heroes", filmed in 2022 Zichuan" and filmed in 2022 "A Journey To Love") and a number more (2024 released "The Story of Pearl Girl", "2024 "Heroes", 2025 The Prisoner of Beauty", 2025 "Zichuan",and "A Dream Within A Dream") making followers wonder what was wrong and if it would ever see light on screens.

"About Love" was too generic a title : too many C-dramas have a similar one. Why not have kept the initial "Cicada Girls" title? [Edit: It was a literary reference to author Raymond Carver's collection of short stories " What We Talk About When We Talk About Love (1981), as drama reporter Avenue X brilliantly explained in her video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1avBZFI_IM ] The original Chinese source material was a manhua titled Cicada girl. The "love appraiser" is once likened to a mantis devouring her mate, the character also reminds of a moth drawn to a flame, shown in the opening credits).

The drama did not benefit from much promotion and the choppy editing, mixing animation and theater moments sometimes in a too heavy handed explanatory fashion, sometimes confusing timeline, the themes may have bewildered LYN fans looking it up now. LYN himself was not much satisfied with this drama, the visuals of which (hairstyle...) follow closely the initial source material webtoon. It was an experience, from which he concluded that he much prefers to play costume dramas. Still, it is watchable and has its merits, for the patient audience.

Liu Yuning also (unusually) did not sing here, although the voice of Zhang Lei sounds so close to his that some thought it was him singing "Love is not true".

The OST has nice songs and was compiled on YouTube. I have added in the Discussions section the links and some lyrics to the songs, together with who are the singers and lyricist, composers of those songs. Among the singers, a Sichuan Tibet autonomous Aba-Qiang prefecture born singer called MamcĂč, lends her voice to the theme song, sung in English : The Secret of Love (not to be confused with the Circles of Life from the Disney animation, lol!!)

A very cute romance with Dunk and Joong

PLOT: The MC, Daonuea, has had a long-standing crush on one of the school's stars, Khabkluen, who has a girlfriend. He confesses his feelings to him just before leaving for Germany, feels rejected by his response, and takes it very badly. However, a year later, they meet again at the same university during the "Miss and Mr. College" pageant and live in the same dorm. Despite past hurts and numerous romantic rivals, the two lovers can't hide their feelings (still as strong as ever), but Khabkluen doesn't know how to express them, leading to many misunderstandings.

+++ Dunk and Joong are adorable, touching (and sometimes frustrating too :) and have incredible chemistry. Kudos to this very endearing couple!
+++ Lots of excellent actors (too many to list all of them).
+++ The story is fairly realistic (it's a BL drama, after all :) if you consider the characters' ages (very immature, unable to communicate, but supposed to be 19-20). No major villains or vipers.
+++ No flaws technically.
+++ Good OSTs.

### Why in these kinds of dramas, do friends always give advice/behave in completely idiotic ways? Don't friends have brains? No empathy?
Fortunately, in the second half of the series, smarter friends take over...

=> An endearing and frustrating series that introduces a new couple, Dunk ❀ Joong ☆âœČïŸŸïœĄ(((®♡‿♡`+)))ïœĄïŸŸâœČ☆
***********************************

+++ RAS au niveau technique
+++ Bonnes OSTs.

Real bad

In this series, the characters who stood out to me the most are Jade and the group of friends nicknamed the “Avengers.” Throughout the episodes, they are killed one by one while the investigators, Jade and Kamin, try to solve the case.

On the positive side, Joong’s acting and the performances of the “Avengers” are fairly decent, and the series does make an effort to create a sense of mystery.

However, several elements weaken the overall result: Dunk’s acting has clearly declined, there are noticeable sound issues, and the editing is quite messy.

In the end, GMMTV once again delivers a rather average series. It’s unfortunate for the teams who worked on it. Personally, I wasn’t convinced, so you can easily skip this one.

A Cute Rom-Com That Surprised Me: delulu to trululu

I enjoyed watching Boyfriend on Demand because it was light, fun, and easy to follow. At first, I was a bit confused and wasn’t sure Iwould keep watching because I hadn't seen the trailer to see what the drama would be. But when Seo Kang‑joon appeared, I started to enjoy the drama more.

The concept of having a customised boyfriend is interesting and made the story feel fresh for a rom-com. Honestly, it made me a little delulu while watching—I even wished we had something like that in real life.

Some moments genuinely surprised me, making the drama less predictable than I expected.

The chemistry between the leads was cute and natural, and they were naturally funny as well. Overall, the drama had a comforting and entertaining vibe. If you’re looking for something romantic, lighthearted, and easy to binge, this is definitely a good watch.

Ryeoun should get more negative roles. He actually nailed this role. I was really impressed with his acting. The story was engaging from episodes 1-5, but I think they could've finished the plot better and I really think the voiceover of Ryeoun at last is unnecessary. Overall you can watch this drama once because the plot is unique and good.

This is random music video

I watched this because of A Shang but it was another disappoint cases of how this drama lacks anything but the styling.

Basically, FL is constantly running away, SFL is constantly chasing, and ML is constantly saving people. Interspersed throughout are scenes of the SFL and the FL vying for her attention. FL and ML meet and inexplicably kiss within hours, and then fall in love. That's basically the content of the first 21 episodes. Then, according to some girls in the group, ML pushed the FL's father, and he died. This drama has no charm for keeping the audience know what is the mystery behind FL's father death.

I treat this drama as MV instead and adding random OST like Troye Sivan-Angel Baby even i don't think it would be match the story; Gan Wang Xing and A Shang appearance looks good, but the plot was practically nonexistent. Both of the leads still show their weakness of the acting, i forced myself to completed this drama but yeah it was boring. The kisses was plenty and it just basically good shoot from the director.

Only hardcore fans could enjoy this.

One of the best dramas ever

The title may sound like an exaggeration but i truly loved this drama. The acting from all the cast members, the osts and the cinematography were on point. Wang xingyue as duke su was such a treat to watch. He was strong,intelligent and calculating. He was at times arrogant but also so endearing in a way. He had all the qualities that good heroes have. I loved both him and his fan.
But the highlight of this drama was Wu jinyan. She was for me an ideal heroine. She was quick witted and sharp. She was exceptionally talented and you could tell why she was so desirable. I was so downbad for her like she was so badass.
Many people say that her revenge on the princess made her a darker character. But i disagree because though the princess had a difficult life she was abused and assaulted, it does not justify her actions of killing people, stealing someone's husband and asking someone to ruin a girls reputation causing her weak husband to burry her alive. The princess was a well written yet almost jarring character.
But the true cause of all wrong in this world and this drama is shen yurong.Dare i say that he was worse than the princess. The princess can't be blamed for his actions, he was the one that chose to bury his wife alive, he was corrupt and weak. I have never hated a character more than him.
Our main couple was a power couple, with little romantic scenes they built tension so well. The chemistry was palpable in every scene. They not only truly loved eachother but trusted and respected each other. I wish we got more scenes of them being happy.
I loved this drama. Towards the end the plot did face some issues but due to how strong the drama was in every other aspect i could look past it. This is officially my favourite drama ever.

My Golden Blood — A Strong Vampire Drama Dominated by Joss and Gawin

I actually enjoyed My Golden Blood more than I expected. Vampire stories in BL can easily become either ridiculous or overly dramatic, but this one manages to create an atmosphere that works quite well. The story clearly follows the classic vampire romance formula, and at times it even reminds you of Twilight, but it still keeps enough personality to remain entertaining.

The main issue for me was the casting choice for the central dynamic. In this kind of story, one character is usually supposed to feel fragile or vulnerable compared to the powerful vampire protecting him. Visually, Gawin simply doesn’t give that impression. He looks strong, confident, and physically imposing. When you see him on screen, it’s hard to immediately believe that he’s the weaker side of the relationship. However, what saves the character completely is his acting. Gawin is an excellent actor and clearly understands how to adapt his performance to the emotional needs of the role. Even though his appearance doesn’t naturally fit the “fragile” archetype, he manages to portray vulnerability and emotional sensitivity convincingly. In the end, his acting compensates for the casting choice and makes the story work.

His pairing with Joss also helps balance the dynamic. Joss has an incredibly strong presence on screen. He looks masculine, confident, and dominant in the way he carries himself. That energy creates the contrast needed for the relationship to function. Without that contrast, the casting might have felt much more awkward.

The downside of having such a powerful duo is that they almost overpower the rest of the cast. Whenever Joss and Gawin share a scene, they dominate the screen so strongly that the other characters struggle to stand out. Even someone as talented as Um Apasiri — who is normally fantastic in villain roles — ends up feeling less impactful simply because the main couple attracts so much attention.

The production itself also deserves credit. The overall quality of the series feels polished, and you can clearly sense the influence of experienced creators behind the project. Knowing Aof Noppharnach’s work on dramas like Moonlight Chicken and A Tale of Thousand Stars, it’s not surprising that the storytelling feels structured and visually consistent. His previous collaboration with Gawin in Dark Blue Kiss probably also helped shape the performance here.

Final Thought

My Golden Blood is a good supernatural BL with a solid story and a very strong central duo. Even though the casting initially feels questionable for the character dynamic, Gawin’s acting manages to overcome that challenge and keep the relationship believable. Combined with Joss’s powerful screen presence and strong production support, the drama becomes an enjoyable vampire story that stands out in the BL genre.

If anyone wants to watch an episode-like show for people they want live without lie , I recommend this one. Contestants form real bonds, with standout moments like the emotional support between the women for Hanui during her reveal.

Hosts & Commentary: The four hosts—Kim Hee Chul, Lee Sun Bin, Song Wonseok, and RALRAL—are praised for their expressive, engaged reactions. Their commentary adds humor and insight, making the viewing experience immersive

Emotional Abuse & Double Standards: Several reviewers highlight concerning behavior, particularly from male contestants who engaged in emotional manipulation, mixed messaging, and double standards.

My Girlfriend Is the Man! — A Webtoon Adaptation That Lost Its Own Idea

When I heard that My Girlfriend Is the Man! was being adapted from the webtoon My Girlfriend Is a Real Man by Massstar, I was honestly excited. The original concept is fun, bold, and actually quite meaningful. It plays with the idea that love shouldn’t depend on gender. The webtoon explores what happens when someone you love suddenly changes gender and how that challenges identity, attraction, and the definition of love itself. Unfortunately, the drama adaptation completely loses that idea.

The biggest issue is that the series doesn’t really feel like a BL at all. Instead of focusing on the complicated and fascinating dynamic between two boys navigating love when one of them suddenly changes gender, the drama shifts the attention toward a much safer storyline. It becomes a regular gender-transition comedy that feels very similar to dramas we’ve already seen before, like Mr. Queen. In doing so, the series avoids the very theme that made the webtoon interesting in the first place.

A big part of that shift comes from the way the characters are used. A Rin clearly receives a huge amount of screen time, and it’s obvious why. She is a very popular idol, and the production clearly wanted to take advantage of that popularity. But by giving her so much focus, the story moves further away from the BL premise. Instead of exploring the relationship between the two male characters, the drama constantly brings the narrative back to a more conventional male-female dynamic. In the end, what we get feels more like a regular romance with a fantasy gimmick rather than the daring BL story it was marketed as. Because of that decision, many moments that could have been interesting simply never happen. The webtoon suggests a story where love challenges gender expectations, where a character could still love someone regardless of whether they are male or female. That idea opens the door to many creative possibilities. The characters could have explored how their relationship changes depending on the gender shift. They could have played with different dynamics, even humorously switching roles depending on the situation. Instead, the drama avoids all of that. The romance stays extremely safe, and the emotional potential of the concept is completely wasted.

Ironically, the most impressive performance in the series comes from Yoo Jung Hoo. Because he isn’t an idol and was relatively new at the time, he ends up receiving much less focus in the story. That’s a real shame because he is easily the most interesting actor in the main trio. His performance shows real range. He manages to portray the vulnerability and emotional confusion of someone whose identity is constantly shifting. Watching him embody a female personality inside a male body is actually one of the few aspects of the drama that feels convincing and emotionally layered.

On the other hand, Yoon San Ha’s role ends up being surprisingly flat. The character barely evolves, and the performance doesn’t add much depth either. His role feels so one-note that almost any actor could have played it the same way. This is another example of a drama relying more on looks and popularity than on acting ability or character development.

The production itself is also quite average. The music is forgettable, and the tone of the series often feels inconsistent. At times the drama tries to be comedic, then suddenly emotional, but it rarely finds the right balance between those elements.

Final Thought

My Girlfriend Is the Man! is one of those adaptations that completely misses the point of its original story. The webtoon explored the idea that love goes beyond gender, but the drama avoids that concept and turns the story into something much safer and more conventional. Despite a few good performances — especially from Yoo Jung Hoo — the series ultimately feels like a missed opportunity. When you promise a BL story but never fully deliver it, disappointment is almost inevitable.
