Thankfully, not the love triangle I expected.
Tried to avoid major spoilers, but tagging just in case.--
The romance in Shine On Me takes its time, and I can see why some people might find it slow or even boring. Personally, I thought the pacing suited the story it wanted to tell. The slow build felt intentional rather than dragged out, and despite that, the chemistry between the leads is definitely there.
I was hesitant to start this drama at first because I thought it would be one of those stories where the female lead keeps going back and forth between the male lead and the second male lead. I fully expected emotional limbo, confusion, and dragged-out feelings, especially since I thought the drama began with the FL being in a relationship with the SML. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case.
There was actually nothing between the FL and the SML, it was clear from the beginning. For a long time, the FL genuinely believed her feelings weren’t reciprocated. The problem wasn’t that she couldn’t let go, but that the SML kept confusing her. He stayed vague, showed up at the wrong moments, and never clearly drew a line. What made him especially frustrating was that he had multiple chances to make things right, yet only started moving when the ML entered the picture. He projected his insecurities onto the FL, questioned her abilities, and clung to what he called a promise, even though there wasn’t a promise at all. He rejected her, never reassured her, and still somehow expected her to wait. He had the most pride and the most insecurity. While I appreciate that the drama allows him to reflect on his mistakes, I personally wished the consequences had hit harder. What I really liked, though, was that once the FL recognized this pattern, she didn’t fall back into it. Even when he tried to pull her back later, she stood her ground.
Both the ML and FL come from wealthy families, which I actually liked because it meant we didn’t have to sit through insecurity arcs about money or status. At the same time, they aren’t portrayed as out-of-touch rich characters. They’re where they are because of their own efforts. The FL does have moments early on where she doesn’t fully understand how much more difficult things can be for others, but that felt realistic rather than annoying, and she does grow from it. Her character growth is also very evident in my opinion. She learns how to value herself and choose people who don’t dim her light, whether that’s friends, family, or a partner. I also liked that both leads were able to pursue what they genuinely wanted, without being controlled by family expectations. This rich x rich pairing worked so well because there were no ego games between them.
So, instead, the insecurity shows up in other characters, especially the SML and the woman who likes him. I really disliked how this girl kept pushing the narrative that the FL only succeeded in things because of her background and connections. It felt more like jealousy she refused to admit. She wanted that story to be true because it made her feel better about herself. What made it worse was how no one around them actively defended the FL when there was no real proof to back those claims. It made sense that the FL eventually felt closer to her coworkers than to her college “friends.” I did appreciate tho that she didn’t just accept this quietly and actually stood up for herself.
The relationship between Yu Sen and Xiguang is the complete opposite of all that mess. They trust each other and communicate well. There are several situations where misunderstandings could have easily been used to create conflict, but the writers chose to let the characters communicate instead, and I really appreciated that. Yu Sen is also a very solid male lead. He gave the FL the reassurance she never received from the SML. He’s clear about his feelings and intentions and never expected her to read his mind. He’s emotionally mature, patient, and respectful. He starts off cold due to misunderstandings from before they even met, but he has never put the FL in a bad light. He never pressured her either. He simply showed up consistently when she needed him until she opened her heart to him.
One last note: I really disliked the FL’s father, while I loved her mother. Her father’s greed and pride were hard to watch, and it took a bit too long, for my liking, for the FL to finally put him in his place. He’s definitely on my list of bad cdrama fathers. I also think his affair storyline dragged longer than necessary. Her mother, on the other hand, was supportive of the FL and was steady without adding unnecessary drama. She was just as strong-headed as the FL and eventually had her own breakthrough later in the story, which was very much deserved.
The best side characters go to the FL's cousin and his parents. Thanks uncle and auntie for being there for the FL. Lots of love for them!!

Sublime
Love, warmth, and everything in between.TFT is an intense experience walking us through dark nights, holding us close in its warmth in the cold, making space for silences and allowing trust to find its way back.
Bai Jing Ting and Zhang Ruonan are hauntingly captivating in their slow dance - Sang Yan being gentle and careful and wenfei hesitating but willing. A million lights light up when they get together, hope bubbling with every new day.
Excellent acting. Superb direction/ screen play. Music could have been even better but still great overall. Highly recommended for deep romance fans.

This movie will ruin you
When I started watching this movie, I didn't know what to expect, but I was completely swept away. I loved this movie from beginning to end. Their romance was so pure and perfect. The first time I watched it, I was so amazed by their relationship, that I didn't even see the end coming at all. Every time I rewatch it, I still bawl my eyes out at the end.Honestly, I feel like there aren't many movies that have touched me as much as this one did. It just has some heartwarming and unexpected twists that completely change the story (sometimes in a good way and sometimes not 😔).

A peak comfort drama
I need to talk about the actors first. Everyone did such a great job and specially both the main leads. The male lead actor was so well suited for the role but his portrayal of the cold rich handsome ceo was so nuanced. I completely understood him and how the female lead was the sunshine in his life. Coming on to lu yuxiao, she was soooo good i feel like she's literally born to be an actresses. I laughed with her and smiled at her antics and cried when she cried. Zhiyu isn’t special guys i too would be down bad for huixu. There characters weren't stereotypical and the acting helped further this point. The drama had me giggling and kicking my feet. The chemistry was on another level. The fluff the angst the romance was so on point. The writer wove this story so beautifully. The soundtrack added to the scenes. And the cinematography was breathtaking i wanted to be a part of that world.
This is a peak comfort drama and i am both in love and obsessed so i'll now go back to rewatching the show.

LOVE BETWEEN THE LINES , THE NAME EXPLAINS IT ALL ^.^
Just before starting my review , want u all to know if u are wondering to try this drama , just go for it .U won't feel like u wasted your time, instead u will gain something memorable .^^Most of the time I start dramas because of the hype , I mean I end up regretting it realising that excitement was driven by actor fandoms rather than story itself .
But this drama was different , it is NOT FAN BASE HYPE but GENUINE STORYTELLING which will pull u in and make u live it rather than just watch it .The beginning of drama is just perfect enough for u to be curious about the VR world and reality and both the worlds take u in spaces where u enjoy seeing characters living their moments which isn thankfully not overdone .
The cast fits their roles so naturally that at some point u forget about actors but u only see them as characters and to top it off the OST with different scenes feels magic with aesthetics being upgraded to another level in this drama.(the costumes were like so well designed like they seriously made this drama with lot of love and care )
We look for WOW factors in dramas but in this drama every episode will definitely give u the moment u will appreciate , be it the conversations of main lead or bonding in their friendships everything teaches something , I know its not a lesson lol but still those moments make it more memorable like watching a female lead smartly addressing a situation or a male lead who knows whats important to him , friends of ml and fl defining friendships with their presence and sprinkles of amazing details that will leave u in AWE.
What stood out to me the most how comforting this experience felt like going on a winter journey -wrapped in a blanket , slowing down and spending time with the most important person that is YOURSELF.nevertheless I do hope people have someone they can watch with )
This drama is not loud , pace is perfect just like u need in life sometimes , a break I mean.
And after commenting on each episode in the comment section I realised that people watching it seriously turned into fans (if they were not already) like everyday characters were discussed and u can relate to them so everything is genuine and once u watch it u will admire it too, that's the BEAUTY OF THIS DRAMA.^^
ITS AN EXPERIENCE WORTH BEING PART OF .
I HOPE OTHERS FEEL THE SAME WARMTH AND COMFORT THAT THIS DRAMA DELIVERED TO ME .
HAPPY DAY AHEAD !^^
(if anyone wondering why 9.5/10 because I m sure they gonna give us 10/10 soon , this drama is a beginning and they have set the bar high )

such a captivating drama; they're truly adorable
Both main actors are very good looking, boosting all the reason to watch this drama. This drama shows maturity in modern relationships, and is absolutely adorable. I find the "all trope couple" very realistic in this drama, but their romance seems quite realistic! A select few of the scenes were the "classic" romance, for example riding a bicycle together,,,, hugging each other along with the princess spin... and walking out of a burning building carrying her??? i was watching that scene in disbelief. Realistically, I am sure this wouldn't happen in real life, but I supposed it was entertaining enough. It kind of seemed like filler to make the episode a bit longer, but I dont really mind since i did not want to part with this drama.... Another point is that sometimes the second male lead can be absolutley aggrovating, but I still finished this drama fufilled and joyful. Was this review helpful to you?

The end ruined it for me
I really liked this drama, because a love triangle will always get me hooked. In the first half of the drama, I was rooting for the main ML, but when the second ML came along, I switched sides. The plot was okay, but I hate that right at the end the main ML had to go and kind of ignored the FL for a while. The second ML helped her and clearly cared for her. One of my favorite scenes was when the FL helps the second ML's sister with her makeup, it was such a heartwarming moment. If the end was different I would definitely have geven this drama a better rating. The rest of the plot is actually good and the chilhood story of how the FL and main ML met is so touching.

Absolutely phenomenal
This was one of the first Asian dramas I ever watched, so it holds a special place in my heart. Honestly, the acting was fantastic, and I felt every emotion on screen. I watched it years ago, and even now, I still sometimes think of certain scenes and get excited all over again. I loved the plot of this drama, and the romance it potrayed is one of my favorites. I love how they go from enemies to lovers, and the fact that there was some teasing and bullying in between is also nice. A love triangle will always be right up my alley and this drama didn't disappoint. Was this review helpful to you?
You may as well book in for therapy before watching this movie !
**Trigger Warning:** If you're considering watching "The World of Kanako," tread carefully. This film is devoid of heroes, presenting a grim tapestry woven with deeply flawed and reprehensible characters. It showcases humanity at its most grotesque and twisted, featuring a multitude of disturbing images that can be profoundly unsettling. I strongly advise you to think twice before diving in for the sake of your mental well-being.The experience left me utterly speechless for days, and four years later, the visceral shock and feelings of unease continue to haunt me. The darkness of the narrative escalates relentlessly, plunging into depths that can only be described as harrowing.
This movie is a relentless portrayal of abuse in its most explicit forms, pushing boundaries that many may find difficult to stomach. But despite its sickening nature, I must acknowledge that the film excels in storytelling and acting. If the filmmakers aimed to illustrate the depths of human depravity and the twisted realities of our world, they succeeded with remarkable intensity, leaving me utterly shattered.
Nana Komatsu delivers an astonishing performance, and it's hard to believe that this is her debut film! Watching it was a profoundly challenging experience, but undeniably impactful..

That kiss scene where Watarai kissed Hioki once as a smooch, second as a long sensual kiss, and third as a small peck was the highlight of the entire series

A BL I Didn’t Feel at First, but Might Love Forever !
When I watched it for the first time, I wasn’t deeply touched—and honestly, I don’t think that was the drama’s fault. It was mine. I wasn’t in the right emotional headspace to fully connect with it. Still, my instincts kept whispering that this story had something special waiting for me, something I just couldn’t reach at that moment.Because of that, I gave it an 8.5, but I truly believe a rewatch could easily push it into my all-time favorite BL list. Some stories don’t hit instantly—they wait for the right timing.
This might be the first series where the first kiss happens in episode 8, yet it never felt like a slow burn. The pacing and emotional build-up were so natural that I stayed fully engaged the whole time.
The second couple’s chemistry also deserves praise. I usually end up skipping one couple in dual-pair BLs if the chemistry doesn’t work for me—but not here. This drama kept me invested in everyone, which says a lot.
And lastly… the ghosts in “Khemjira”?
Absolutely slaying at ghosting. Iconic. Unmatched. Peak supernatural behavior. 👻✨

Mature /Good
Love the fl, she's so beautiful and naturally funny. Ml is good too. They both executed their roles well. The plot is nothing new but it was done well. Love that the drama was rounded up well. Evil people got what they deserved. There was not a lot of misunderstandings or break ups between the couple. I love that. Was this review helpful to you?

I'm excited for what's to come!
I don’t like the idea of rating a drama when only two episodes have aired, as it feels far too early to properly judge the story, pacing, character development, etc. However, with obvious troll ratings already appearing, I wanted to help balance things out while waiting to see how the drama truly unfolds in the coming episodes. Was this review helpful to you?
Set the standard so high for 2026
Immaculate work of art. Didn’t put any expectation because I am aware how cdramas have this quirky, awkward style of directing that cut certain scenes and make it seem a bit out of place— but this has none of it. Outstanding chemistry between the two leads especially when it comes to the romance and fluff. The gfx and cinematography need to be complimented a lot, it’s my favourite part of the series — Rongcheng is so beautiful from the characters to its setting. Definitely one of the dramas that I wouldn’t mind rewatching. It’s just THAT good. Was this review helpful to you?
