Sold off by his own family, poor, bullied country boy finds an unlikely benefactor in a rich family

A slow start but not half bad...go past the first episode and you will like it...the story set in the 90s, is slow paced, borders on dark with toxic elements and has potential to become a strong tale if handled right.

Be warned that it has a lot of bullying and some scenes borders on SA

BL-needle Score: 6. Low BL-ness so far

Xiao Fan, a country bumpkin with no education, zero self esteem, mostly bullied and uncared for, gets literally sold off by his family to a rich family who were looking for a 'groom' to shield their bratty daughter from social shame of being pregnant out of wedlock....the daughter who seems perpetually angry, rude and borderline narcissist, insults and bullies her fake husband every opportunity she gets as he lands in their palatial city home to act as her husband....her brother, the quiet and intelligent Bei Lu, however develops a soft corner for the poor chap...buys him clothes, tutors him and tries introducing him to the ways of the world...as the story progresses, we see this tender bond developing between these unlikely pair, the extremely lopsided power equation notwithstanding....

While Xiao Fan struggles with the education and becomes a butt of jokes with Bei Lu's friends, he seems to be good at cooking...the chief housemaid Aunt Lin takes a liking to him and teaches him to help around the kitchen and cooking...soon he starts serving soups to Bei Lu, as his way of thanking that one person who he hangs on to for some shred of kindness and hope....

With Bei's help Fan manages to get into college for vocational course, but gets bullied there too....his family continues to pester him for more favours from the Bei family every now and then and the spineless, self-loathing Xiao Fan keeps failing to say no and turns to Bei Lu every time...so much so that your blood start to boil at the shamelessness of the mother and family and the never-ending cowering of Fan...Bei Lu however seems to have genuinely fallen for the pitiful boy

Will the perpetually apologetic, servile and self-loathing Xiao Fan ever be able to find the courage to stand up for himself...where will this unusual pair head to? I'm intrigued now

Verdict: Watch, or maybe wait till a few more episodes are out and more people have reviews on it to be sure. I am watching it

Looks good in costume

This was a cute drama, again mainly watched it for the ML!

however, i did like the story line and the characters. I did like the fact for the first time, we had a majesty that was involved in the wanting to do stand for good and not being harsh King. I also like how the majesty and his highness interactions they were absolutely 💯 not just being biased etc.

The FL was well played and thank goodness she came around when she discovered the truth of her father, i was so ready to drop the series when she started believing everyone but him.

I liked this drama and it flowed through well

Suspenful

Wow, this was a good drama, suspenful, thrilling, and exciting.

The actors were good and episodes flowed through nicely and story kept you intrigued.

I liked the relationship between Luo Ren and Mu Dai.. This wasn’t a romance story, but they had good chemistry and really clicked..

How can I not talk about their Hummer?? Just like the characters, the SUV went through a lot too.. They literally dragged it through a desert, dried lake, quicksand, mountains and it still survived..

Their kisses felt SO forced bro

Well, I didn’t like their kisses, Im sorry but imo they were not giving it đŸ«©every time they kissed it felt very forced.
Xiyang was always getting on my nerves, she was really annoying most part of the show but at the end I kinda liked her. One thing I couldn’t take was the romanticization in the “relationship” that she had with the emperor. That was pure toxicity idc what anyone says.
But overall the drama was great and entertaining, the thing that I loved the most was my girlie yixiao, even if she felt like a secondary character in the last episodesđŸ«©. Also liked the story between the mc, their dynamic was interesting and the chemistry was good (except for the kisses😭)

everything about this show is just so beautiful!!

someone who absolutely disliked the recently aired cbls like double helix, abo desire, to my shore, i cannot get enough of this series, the one thing (out of many) that set it apart from the above mentioned bls is the ORIGINAL audio (mostly) which shows the raw emotions and the acting feels genuine (like in jbls) , i hateee the dub that is done in almost all cbls ( i also disliked the dub in revenged love and sammy's children's day but overall i liked the series), the cinematography, the direction, the acting, the chemistry, the musiccc (addictive asf), everything is just so gooodd, not to mention that it even mocked fans (like me) who interpret certain stuff about their fav celebs just to ship them when reality is just so different, on every rewatch you'll notice so many micro gestures done by the ml for mc that just screams pure love & care , which u rarely see in series these days , tho idk what's happening with the 2nd cp (not interested in them) but 3rd cp is going to be good aswell i can feel it, also i feel like ppl who don't enjoy slice of life genre and are into toxic and only nc scenes driven series wouldn't enjoy it (like a certain someone who rated this series 1 and stubborn 10/10 lol), so far (ep 7) i would rate this show 11/10

when chemistry isn’t enough

Since watching High School Frenemy, I became a fan of SkyNani. After all, they broke away from GMMTV’s familiar formula by making a bromance instead of a BL. Similar to The Untamed, the pair built a loyal following through their chemistry alone.

But unlike The Untamed, I think a bromance can only sustain its appeal for so long. This is one reason I appreciate that other Asian countries don’t always follow the Thai BL formula. Sometimes pairings become forced, and actors end up playing roles that don’t truly suit them. Yes, they can cry on cue or exchange intense gazes, but chemistry alone isn’t enough.

If I’m being completely honest, I think Sky and Nani are stronger as individual actors than as a permanent screen pairing. I’m also glad they don’t participate in the song-and-dance fan events that many BL couples do. In my opinion, that preserves their value as actors rather than turning them into fan-service personalities.

As for Wu, it started with tremendous promise but quickly lost its momentum. The opening episodes were compelling, yet the story soon became predictable and, at times, overly sentimental. More disappointing was the lack of meaningful character development. Nearly every major character occupied a pivotal role in the narrative, yet few were given the depth they deserved. The supporting cast, rather than enriching the story, often felt underutilized.

The biggest indication that the series wasn’t working for me was that I found myself rooting for the antagonists. When the villains become more compelling than the protagonists, it’s usually a sign that the emotional investment has shifted.

I also think the series suffered from its length. Recently, many Thai BL dramas have shortened their episode counts, perhaps following the trend of Japanese dramas. But what works in Japan doesn’t necessarily translate elsewhere. Japanese storytellers have mastered the art of concise, tightly constructed narratives. Simply making a series shorter doesn’t guarantee better pacing. In Wu, I felt there was enough material for a longer series that could have explored its characters and themes with greater depth.

I’m sure many fans will disagree with my assessment, and that’s perfectly fine. I’ve long accepted that we don’t all see stories the same way. It would be a rather dull world if we did.

In today’s BL landscape, where dozens of new titles are released every year, audiences have more choices than ever before. Ironically, while the quantity has increased, I can’t help but feel that the overall quality has gradually declined.

Slow!!!!

Yo this drama was extremely slow, the story despite it being good was slow to get into. It was literally like to pull teeth watching this drama unfold, then when we finely got to the point of admission the FL ups and despair for 6 months, leaving us again with a slow move.

The scenes were good especially the intimate shots but they could paced this out a little more quickly.

Overall a nice story just slow to get into

Doctor in the house

Loved this drama, was really sweet with no drama at all, just a pure love story with an amazing crew and the characters were gorgeous.

Story line was exceptional, everyone does deserve love, but loving yourself first is really good thing, for that is when you true self is reflected

The doctor role was nice and learnt a few things,

Overall a really agood sweet love story

Racing glory

This drama took me by surprise, as I was really wanting to watch it, however I was genuinely surprised with the way it unfolded.

The race scenes were absolutely fantastic and the fight scenes were just has good.

The story was good, the characters were so well suitable and they kinda matched each of their characters well. I loved the fact that she was determined to stand by him and he just bent to her in the most touching way.

His bravery to put her first to go see her mother was touching although i felt the timeline was a bit long, he faced his owned challenge while still staying strong to his promise was really touching.

Overall this drama definitely exceeded my expectations and I loved the racing aspects.

Loved it

This was really a super cute love story, no in law drama, i liked how they came together and they stuck with each other.

The more realistic side was the whole energy and solar panels and how they will be a thing of the future.

The characters were well matched and suited each other well. Music was fitting and lovely.

Music was on point,

Characters were well suited and location looked 👌

Inspiring

The story and meaning behind this drama, in my opinion was definitely a good story.

A single mom raising daughter's, is basically a tough thing to do in any century, the challenges a mother face, the hardship she endure, the endless fighting she does, just to ensure her girls are well matched. For me this story showed unity within a family, the struggles they go through and challenges they face together to overcome any obstacles is truly unique in their strengths.

This shows unity with a family is by far more rewarding in heaven's eyes.

Something in today life and generation is lacking.

Felt like it was more adult themes

This drama was only watched because of the main lead, i felt like this drama was more of adult themes then of a high school theme, i expected to be more school crush instead of this deep realistic life that does happen.

The mother really annoyed me as she didn't even try to understand her son pain witch led to him falling off the rails, as much as I also that fl was a bit annoying and wanting to find out where he went, she came across desperate and clingy, which didn't fit them.

I didn't particularly like that he kept the truth from her but instead took it on himself, although his scenes were touching, it just didn't sit well.

This drama was not expected

Absolutely ?

This drama was truly captivating with a bit of humour added as well some serious .

The characters were well matched and looked good together, i loved the outfit and story flowed through exceptionallywell, we didn't have any procrastination it was decided and they went with it, it kept us glued and wanting to see what happens next.

I particularly loved the visual effects, they seemed effortless and striking.

The story was light and dark with a revenge twist but love and sacrifice along with deep trust conquered all.

Overall this was awesome 👌 👏
