Well made, good writing, good acting. Yang Sẽ Jong is outstanding.
It’s a typical Korean romcom but a good one that wasn’t boring in any part, which is rare. Two good actors in Park Eun Bin and Yang Sẽ Jong. Bin is always good. Yang Se Jong is the real standout in this show. He isn’t the typical kdrama pretty boy, though he’s certainly good looking. He just comes across as so likable and sincere that he’s magnetic. He moves so gracefully and his presence is captivating. The chemistry between the two is very engaging.The story is enough to make me want to watch the next episode. It didn’t fizzle out with stupid writing half way through.

The Smart Jellyfish
Never underestimate a silent man. He is not stupid. He is not clueless. He is doing what most do out loud- Thinking. This series brought out two emotions constantly. Frustration and awe.Frustration:
Lack of communication by both.
Lu Xin's twisted audacity.
LXF's lack of pride.
LXF's soup. Replaced by congee. Both making a final appearance in ep 12. Consistent to the end.
LXF's brother, sister and father. The mother gets a pass. Barely.
BLQ's mother. Appeared once and was the most vulgar just by looking at her.
LZY's duplicitous behavior on occasion.
LT's complete lack of morals. He needs a special mention. Proved to be the most stupid of them all.
Awe:
LXF proving there was brain activity between his two ears.
LXF's ability to show compassion to nearly everyone and understand their pain.
LXF finding the spine to walk away from everything.
BLQ's desire to marry him never wavered even on the brink of bankruptcy.
Old Bei's fairness for LXF. Yes, he still tried to protect the Bei's name, but through it all, he respected him.
LZY's love/hate relationship with LXF. He couldn’t understand his simplicity but was a better friend to him than most by trying to wisen him up.
LZY's undying loyalty to BLQ.
The guy probing his loyalty throughout to LXF after LXF helped him and his father after being beaten by BLQ's crew.
LXF's mother accepting her son being used like a woman. This one nearly took me out. I cackled.
LXF finally getting his man.
BLQ proving his love for LXF over the years. If only LXF had the wattage at the time to see. The phone fiasco. Wow!!
LXF's mother giving her disgusting family a final no. Seeing the worth of her son and her failings as a mother.
Paraphrasing:
"I just want to be remembered. Even if it’s hate."
Sigh. Don't we all.
The story in itself was a little above average when the last three episodes are taken into consideration. It progressed as a bundle of loose threads that seemed to keep loosing and retying with every greedy or narcissistic act of Lu Tao and Lu Xin and lack of communication from both mls. There were many a time I felt the urge to use violence against both.
I especially liked ep 12. Connecting the dots neartly without it feeling rushed. Seeing their happy domesticated life. BLQ proving still at the end, he'd do anything to make LXF happy.
Whatever it lacked was made up for by being very entertaining.

Gay Coming of Age
This is labeled as BL, but I saw it as more of a gay coming of age drama.Il-Tak is being bullied and decides to befriend tough guy, loner classmate Hyun-woo. Hyun-woo is closeted and has a secret crush on Il-Tak.
Most of this drama plays out like a typical high school drama of boys fighting and vying to be top bully with Il-Tak stuck in the middle. There is the typical miscommunication you expect in BL, but no one is in a committed relationship at the end. Instead we watch these boys struggle to realize their feelings, the head bully not understanding how to make true friends. Il-Tak trying to get Hyun-woo's protection, but not understanding that he is playing with Hyun-woo's emotions by inadvertently leading him on.
Il-Tak is portrayed by Han Se Jin, who previously was a lead in the BL Mr. Heart, where he plays a similar role.
This drama isn't groundbreaking, but it's good for a vertical. There are a couple of clipable moments and it's engaging enough to keep you entertained throughout. There is no romance in this drama, instead there are dumb high schoolers making weird decisions as they try to navigate the high school hierarchy. I found it an engaging dramatic comedy.

Formulaic Reprise
Season 2 of Pride of the Temp is a formulaic reprise without much of the charm that made the principle characters interesting. It is possible to watch this series without any prior knowledge. For those who already know the principle characters, the lapse of 13 years have had very little impact, though the business reason for crisis has changed.Was this review helpful to you?

You can watch the cut version without missing anything important
This was a rewatch (I watched the cut version last time), but I remembered nothing from it, and honestly, I won't remember any of it this time either. Addicted and Stay with Me just did everything so much better: from the plot to the characters to the balance between seriousness and humor. Also, I don't know how, but this version somehow does less than the others when it had the time to do it right. If you want to watch the major red flag that Hero is supposed to be, then watch Addicted. If you want a fuller & just all-around great adaptation of the novel, then watch Stay with Me. Don't waste your time with this adaptation, or at least watch this one first so things only get better. (Stay with Me was my favorite).What didn't help this series at all was the translation. The series already wasn't doing too hot, but then there would just be random moments where they didn't translate anything being said. I know some basic Thai, but not enough to understand most of what's being said, even with context clues.
I had no problems with the acting, really; they did the best they could with what they were given, but I wish they had recast either Mac or August so that our main couple could have actually kissed. This couple is supposed to be VERY intimate; this is a fact in both the novel & original adaptation, but they couldn't really do that here because Mac was underage. So every fake kiss and intimate moment was blocked or black-screened. I'm not the biggest fan of NC scenes, but they are a large part of our main couple getting together, so avoiding them like the plague made the romance incredibly fake because it had little to build on. It also felt like it came out of nowhere; I'm not even sure when it started. The chemistry between them was also hit or miss, but as I said, the actors did the best they could; I'm honestly surprised that their chemistry was as good as it was.
The characters themselves weren't even as good as the originals. If you are going to take out the NC scenes, you can't also take out the back-and-forth between them. Them playing tricks (bullying) on each other built the tension and showcased how smart Bai Luo Yin (Poppy) is. Without it, the relationship felt imbalanced & Poppy came across as just an everyday student with nothing really special about him other than his handwriting and Hero noticing him. In the original series, it was a great way of showcasing his intelligence without relying on basic school knowledge. Hero was also just straight up weaker than his predecessors. This isn't anything against the actor; they just didn't do a good job of showcasing it at all.
Even the tension with the parents felt lacking, like it didn't actually feel dangerous at all, even when a gun was involved.
Our side couple was probably the best thing about the series, and that's only because we get no resolution from them in Addicted or Stay with Me, and here we at least got a kiss.
The plot itself felt patchworked because of them avoiding the NC scenes & glazing over some of the more relaxing moments the main characters shared that would have helped build the relationship. They didn't even include the whole ordeal Bai Luo Yin had to go through with Gu Hai's uncle. But the one thing that really bothered me is how they chose to start the series. We start with them as adults after they've been apart (if you haven't read the novels, it was 8 years), & they had no reason to do this. Why show us that if you have no plans to do that time skip in the series? Why do it if you're not even going to make it to where the time skip happens? It was completely pointless to include this scene because it didn't add anything to the plot except confusion.
So yeah, unless you are really interested or invested in the series, I would give this version a hard pass.

Messy, Morally Grey, and Surprisingly Real
I picked up Before We Get Married almost completely on a whim. I was in a drama slump and had spent two days trying my usual K-dramas and C-dramas without anything really clicking. This wasn't even the kind of drama I normally reach for, but I had already shortlisted it for a challenge, and the infidelity tag made me curious enough to finally give it a try. I honestly wasn't sure whether I was going to love it or hate it.Instead, I ended up binge-watching the whole thing.And somehow, despite all the questionable decisions, frustrating characters, messy relationships, and moments where I wanted to yell at basically everyone, I genuinely enjoyed the journey.
When I first saw the title Before We Get Married, I assumed it would be another drama mainly revolving around marriage and the usual relationship problems. It is technically about marriage and relationships, but it approaches them in a much more complicated and uncomfortable way. This isn't really a story about a perfect couple finding love. It's about two people who are already committed to other relationships slowly realizing that the lives they've planned may not actually be the lives they want.
The story begins when Zhou Wei Wei accidentally leaves her diary in Chu Ke Huan's taxi. He reads it while trying to return it and discovers her carefully planned **65-year life plan** with her boyfriend. And from there, everything starts unraveling.
Chu Ke Huan has been in a ten-year relationship with Gao Zi Yuan, but the relationship has long since lost its warmth. They barely communicate, live almost separate lives, and seem to stay together more out of obligation, history, and promises than actual love. Zi Yuan tries to compensate for the lack of emotional connection by controlling almost every aspect of Ke Huan's life, constantly deciding what is best for him without actually asking him what he wants.
Wei Wei's relationship isn't exactly healthy either. Li Hao Yi genuinely loves her, but their relationship has become more about following their carefully constructed future plan than actually living together in the present. Everything has a schedule, a goal, a budget and a box to check. He isn't a bad person, but he is so focused on building their future that he doesn't realize how unhappy Wei Wei has become in the present.
And then Chu Ke Huan walks into her life and completely disrupts that carefully planned future.
I think the biggest reason I enjoyed this drama was the chemistry between the leads.Their relationship is messy, morally questionable and frustrating at times, but the chemistry is so natural that you understand why they are drawn to each other. There are so many scenes where they barely say anything, but their expressions and the way they look at each other practically have an entire conversation.
Jasper Liu was especially good here. Chu Ke Huan is such an expressive character, and I could genuinely feel what he was feeling just by looking at his face. Attraction, frustration, jealousy, amusement, anger, loneliness... he managed to communicate so much without needing dialogue.
I also liked that Ke Huan wasn't presented as some perfect romantic hero. His choices are questionable, and sometimes he absolutely makes things worse. He starts interfering in Wei Wei's relationship partly out of curiosity and partly because he is attracted to her, and honestly, some of his early behavior made me wonder how I was supposed to root for this man.
But the drama gradually gives us more of his perspective. His relationship with Zi Yuan has been emotionally over for a long time, but he is trapped by guilt, obligation and a promise connected to her mother. That doesn't excuse everything he does, but it makes his situation more understandable.
Wei Wei takes much longer to acknowledge what is happening. She has far more to lose because she has spent years building this image of what her life is supposed to look like. She has a stable relationship, a stable future and a carefully planned life, but somewhere along the way she has lost herself inside that plan.
I actually liked that she didn't immediately run toward Ke Huan.
She struggles. She denies her feelings. She tries to convince herself that what she is feeling is temporary and wrong. And even when she knows that her relationship isn't making her happy anymore, leaving isn't easy.That's what made their romance feel more realistic to me.
What I found most interesting was that neither relationship was simply "good couple vs bad couple."
Ke Huan and Zi Yuan's relationship is suffocating, but you can understand why they stayed together for so long.Zi Yuan is extremely controlling, and I found her frustrating to watch. She constantly crosses Ke Huan's boundaries while convincing herself that everything she does is for his own good. She interferes with his career, friendships and personal life, and at times her behavior becomes genuinely uncomfortable.
But I also think the actress did a great job because I never felt like Zi Yuan was simply an evil girlfriend inserted into the story to justify the main couple. Her desperation and insecurity were visible underneath everything. She desperately wanted to preserve a relationship that had already emotionally ended.
Wei Wei and Hao Yi were different but equally unhappy.Hao Yi wasn't initially someone I could hate. He was dependable, hardworking and genuinely loved Wei Wei. The problem was that he loved the **future they had planned** more than he understood the person standing beside him.
Their 65-year plan was actually a really interesting metaphor. It looked romantic on paper, but eventually you realize how little room there is for Wei Wei to actually choose anything for herself.
And that's something I really appreciated about the drama. It constantly asks What happens when a life that looks perfect from the outside isn't actually the life you want anymore?
I usually don't enjoy cheating or infidelity storylines, so I was genuinely surprised by how invested I became in this one.The drama doesn't make the situation easy to judge. You're constantly aware that what the leads are doing isn't entirely right, but at the same time, you understand why they are doing it.And that's what made it uncomfortable in a good way.There were definitely moments when I thought, No, absolutely not. Don't do this.And then five episodes later I was somehow rooting for them. It made me question my own opinions about relationships, commitment, obligation and when someone should finally admit that a relationship has already ended emotionally.
The drama doesn't really give you a clean "right" answer. Sometimes people stay because of history. Sometimes they stay because of guilt. Sometimes they stay because they're afraid of hurting someone. And sometimes they stay because admitting that something is over means admitting that years of their life didn't turn out the way they expected.
The office storyline became especially messy toward the end.Actually, so messy that I completely understood why office romances are forbidden in the first place.There were moments when everything became tangled together, with personal relationships affecting professional relationships and vice versa. It wasn't always neat or convenient, but it did feel like the kind of disaster that can happen when people refuse to separate their personal and professional lives.
Some of those plotlines were definitely frustrating and could have been handled better, but I appreciated that the drama didn't suddenly become clean and simple just because the characters had realized their feelings.
The ending was probably the part I had the most mixed feelings about.A part of me wanted a more straightforward romantic payoff after everything these two went through. But another part of me understood why the drama chose not to wrap everything up in a perfect little bow.I actually think the ending fits the overall message.
Wei Wei needs time to figure herself out outside of a relationship. She spent so much of her life following someone else's plan that jumping immediately from Hao Yi to Ke Huan would have felt like she was simply replacing one relationship with another.I liked that she gets the opportunity to stand on her own first.
The ending basically says that if their feelings are genuine, they don't need to rush. They can take time to heal, grow and become better versions of themselves before deciding what comes next.And honestly, that's much more mature than simply giving us a big romantic reunion and pretending everything is magically fixed.
Before We Get Married definitely isn't a drama I'd recommend if you're looking for a fluffy, uncomplicated romance. It is messy, frustrating, morally grey and sometimes downright stressful.But that's also why I enjoyed it.
The story is predictable in some ways and definitely uses a few clichés, but the relationship dynamics, acting and chemistry kept me invested. I liked how flawed everyone was. Nobody was completely innocent, but nobody felt entirely cartoonishly evil either.
Most importantly, it made me think.I started this drama because I was bored and wanted something different, and somehow this random pick ended up pulling me completely out of my drama slump. I laughed, got frustrated, questioned everyone's decisions, rooted for the leads even when I knew I probably shouldn't, and genuinely became invested in their complicated journey.
It's definitely a messy and mature relationship drama, but underneath all that mess, I think it's really about learning when a relationship has stopped being right for you, finding the courage to choose yourself, and understanding that sometimes loving someone doesn't mean you have to immediately choose them.
And for a drama I started almost entirely on a whim, I ended up enjoying it far more than I expected.

Absolute Perfection!
A “night courier” with a hidden identity + a tabloid journalist who’s fascinated by him.Both surviving in their own ways.
Both suffering but hiding it from the world.
Both permanently affected by a past neither remembers.
Will their love bring healing or ruination?
*Big sigh* … this couple. I heart them so much! 🫶🏻
The FL is so adorable & real. Her personality makes her a total anomaly to the ML but he can’t help being intrigued by her. She has such a passion for life & desire for justice. Her carefree attitude masks deep trauma, but her determination to not be ruled by the fear keeps her facing each new day with an admirable courage. Being raised by an amazing adoptive father & his merry band of reformed thugs gave her quite the unique childhood which shaped her into the quirky, feisty woman she is.
The ML is so protective & cute. The way he swaps from his dorky-clueless-cover-story self & his true take-charge-while-kicking-butt self is perfect! Raised by an honorary uncle in unconventional ways formed him into the cynical yet humorous man he became. His career keeps him from letting anyone close but that’s fine - he’s just biding his time as he saves enough money to buy a private island & retire.
Them together is pure awesome sauce. Their chemistry is legit 🔥 & their love so beautiful it makes us all jelly. 🫠 Despite all the mess & mysteries surrounding them, they never bend or let go of one another. They’re total couple goals with all the feels.
I loved the ways the ML handled learning how vi0lence triggers the FL & how he always worked to protect her from being exposed to it. And I loved how the FL refused to let him push her away when tragedy struck his world again. I loved their determination to get justice for their parents once they learned the truth of their shared childhood history. I loved the bond they both formed with the SML upon learning who he was to them. I loved all their interactions on their fall into love. I swooned for them so hard! And I laughed a ton because their crazy antics made them a hilarious duo at times 😂
A must watch for all kdrama fans! And that OST? Yessss!!!

A Republican drama that isn't for everyone
Wow, this was a fantastic Republican drama!It had everything that is vital to a good Republican drama. A fantastic ML (who doesn't have to be good looking but it doesn't hurt), a story so gripping that you can't help but feel for the character, morally gray characters, evil characters, romance filled with angst, danger, revenge, death, war, etc...
It was a hard, difficult watch at times especially the horrible abuse Murong Qing Yi had to live through. The fact that he survived it was in itself amazing but that he didn't lose his mind or become some person hellbent on revenge because of it was simply a miracle. Not only was he hurt, tortured, treated cruelly by his enemies but by his family (and it started when he was a child!), the very people who were supposed to protect him. But honestly, when the FL came along she was no better, blaming him for things he had no control over, some of her scenes were rage inducing.
After watching Overdo, I am astounded at the amount of hate this drama has gotten. I believe a lot of watchers came in after Pursuit of Jade expecting the same kind of story. Gorgeous hero, gets the feisty girl, they win against all odds and get to live happily ever after. But Overdo is a Republican drama. It's not sunshine, roses and happy endings. Its bread and butter is angst, couples/families tore apart from the ravages of war, drugs, revenge, etc..
I've read a good portion of the hate was partly because of the AI intro... ummm... there are some dramas with cartoony intros or even some with the battles that are cartoony/drawn, etc.. because they're cheaper to make apparently. The intro isn't the drama... so skip it. I don't watch the intro, complete waste of time. I'd rather get to the drama.
Another reason, if not the main reason is because of the ending. Zhang Ling He has spoiled his fans. Unlike other actors (I'm looking at you Ren Jia Lun) he's never taken a script where he dies or that doesn't end well. In almost everyone of his dramas it's a happy ending and he usually gets the girl.
Overdo is the exception. And I think he must have taken this role to prove he is something more than just a gorgeous face. He doesn't need to be what the haters called the 'foundation general', or even the pretty boy that always has to have a happy ending.
Overdo proved one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt and that is Zhang Ling He isn’t just a pretty face; he genuinely has the acting chops to back it up. Any argument to the contrary is purely academic.
Would I recommend watching Overdo? You bet I would. If you love Republican dramas, if you like watching an actor prove that he is more than just his visuals, if violence, blood and death doesn't bother you, if you can handle cruelty, if angst is right in your wheelhouse then give this one a try.
But there is a caveat. If you don't like Republican dramas, if you absolutely must have a happy ending, if you can't watch abuse, death, cruelty, angst, war, etc... you might want to skip it. This isn't the drama for you.

Better Than Its Ranking Makes It Look
Honestly, I don't understand why Overdo is ranked so low. I almost got discouraged because of the ranking and nearly skipped it, but I'm actually glad I didn't. It's definitely not perfect, but it's nowhere near as bad as the ranking makes it seem.I'll be blunt though the first few episodes can feel pretty boring. I wasn't completely invested at the beginning and I can understand why some people might drop it there. But once the story starts picking up, especially around Episode 15 for me, I became genuinely invested and wanted to know what was going to happen next.
One thing I'd seriously recommend is understanding the Republican-era setting before starting this drama. The drama doesn't explain everything clearly, so if you go in without knowing much about the historical/political context, some parts can feel confusing and painfully boring because you won't understand why certain things are happening. Once you understand the background, the story makes much more sense.
The acting was actually pretty good overall, but the drama can be really frustrating sometimes. There were moments where I genuinely wanted to yell at the screen because of the characters' decisions or the way certain things played out. Some of the writing choices made me question what the drama was trying to do, and there were definitely scenes where I felt the frustration more than the emotion.
And honestly, Murong Qingyi is definitely not Zhang Linghe's best role. I don't think the character suited him that well at all. Compared to his previous roles, Murong Qingyi lacked the impact, charm, intelligence, and depth that usually make Zhang Linghe's characters stand out. It's not that he acted badly I actually think he did a good job with what he was given but the character itself just wasn't strong enough. Zhang Linghe is much better when he's given a character with more emotional complexity, dignity, intelligence, and presence. Murong Qingyi simply didn't give him enough to work with.
Now let's talk about the part that absolutely destroyed me: my favorite characters literally ALL died. And I'm still bitter about it.
Some of those deaths were genuinely painful to watch, and there were episodes where I was just sitting there thinking, why are you doing this to me? But at the same time, I don't think their deaths were meaningless. Since the drama has such a strong patriotic element, these characters were willing to sacrifice themselves for the people they wanted to protect and for their country. Their choices were basically suicidal missions, and while it was incredibly painful to watch, I understood what the drama was trying to convey.
That doesn't make watching it any easier, though. If you can't handle watching characters you care about suffer and die, seriously prepare yourself before starting this. Some episodes were emotionally exhausting.
The production is probably my biggest complaint. The story had potential to be much more powerful with better execution, stronger camera work, and a more polished overall production. There were moments where I could see how good the drama could have been if it had been given a higher production quality.
But despite all that, I don't regret watching it.
So honestly, don't let the ranking decide for you. Give it a chance if the premise interests you and for your own emotional wellbeing, don't get too attached to your favorite characters. Because apparently Overdo has absolutely no mercy.
Overall, it was a good one-time watch for me.

What a coaster ride from start to finish
This series sure has it ups and down, the characters where complex and calculating. Lots of surprising twist, the character Lu Xiao Fan was quite a surprise in character development, what was presented in the beginning was not was we see at the end. Bei Lu Qing, a character that is straight forward of what you see on screen but also underneath the exterior lays a caring person that will do everything to protect the one he loves eventhough it’s seems to hurt the one he try to protect. The shameful Lu family always calculating and greedy, using their youngest son as a step ladder to improve their lives, with family like that Xiao Fan is better off familyless. A great series from start to finish, I’m hoping for a special to see what happens to the characters especially our main leadsWas this review helpful to you?

Can the prosecutor get over the craziness of them dreaming the future & learn to accept the reporter’s & policeman’s help?
I love everything about this.
- The bond & friendship formed between the main trio.
- The non-toxic love the SML has for the FL (best kind of SML, imho) & how it doesn’t come between the men’s friendship.
- The dreaming of each other aspect.
- The trust & loyalty they all have for each other.
- The cases they face & how they band together to do what’s right.
- And, of course, the beautiful love between the Leads. 🫠
They’re so fun & smile inducing. Heartwarming & soul healing. They have wonderful chemistry that never fades or dulls due to life’s craziness. I love how protective they always are of each other & how their shared history is interwoven & unraveled throughout the episodes.
This show has all the feels. I laughed. I worried. I cheered. And I swooned. It’s a comfort drama that I return to time & time again 🫶🏻

The FL is a quiet girl whose time at high school gets hard when she becomes a target of bullying. The popular ML notices & comes to her rescue several times. While this leads to the two becoming good friends, it doesn’t stop her tormentors from continuing their abuse. Then a mysterious app appears on her phone, giving her a tool to fight back. Will she finally get some peace or will this result in more chaos?I was surprised by how much I loved this drama. The plot line & pacing were well done with believable scenarios in each case of revenge. The situations are relatable to what teens face daily. Yes, there are cheesy parts, but they’re not cringey. 🙃
I loved the Leads. They’re strong individuals who are both kind & loyal. Their bond was so precious, I just kept smiling at their scenes together. They’re such a sweet portrayal of first-love that’s pure & free of any toxicity. I can watch them over & over.
The side characters are fun too. Loved the two best friends, as well as her big bro. Obviously the favorite was the SML, Cha EunWoo [Seeing him alongside his Astro members is so bittersweet 💔❤️🩹.]
I definitely recommend this for an easy, angst-free, teenage drama. Be prepared, though, cause it leaves you asking - who’s behind the app exacting revenge on her behalf…? 🤔
