We all deserve an episode extension or SEASON 2 at least ???❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

By far the Most BEAUTIFUL series that I have watch so far. Literally MY first and last obsession. The story line was perfectly designed, all scenes were tremendously good. In regards to hioki and watarai their love for each other is pure. The cuteness, yearning and care for each other is what moved me the most. Nevertheless episode 10 is not quite enough and not fair! Like me who is really invested to the series we deserve justice with the range of episodes, to the director I hope you can extend the episode or have atleast season 2 hehe same actors and continued story line is the gift I want for this upcom8ng Christmas. Watarai ❤️Hioki!

Twelve Letters has been on my watchlist since it first came out. I’d seen so many spoilers floating around that I already knew it was a drama I had to watch. Now that I’ve finally finished it, I can’t believe I waited this long. Just a bit of a warning, I was writing this review while still watching the last few episodes, so forgive me if my thoughts feel a little scattered—SO MUCH happens in this series!

The story revolves around Ye Hai Tang (A’Tang), Tang Yi Xun (A’Xun), and a mysterious time-traveling mailbox. A’Tang, living in 1991, begins receiving letters from the future—specifically from 2026. Although the two leads start off on the wrong foot and clash constantly, their backgrounds explain so much of their tension. Both grew up in poverty, faced difficult family situations, and carried wounds from abusive homes or abandonment. Their struggles put them on opposite sides at first, but slowly, through shared experiences, they develop mutual respect and quiet affection for each other.

I honestly wish their romance had been explored more directly. The love line is subtle—present, but never fully voiced. I would’ve loved a real confession instead of the implied promise to “grow together as a family.”

Early in the drama, each episode blends past and future seamlessly, giving us glimpses of two timelines side by side. Later, the focus shifts, and episodes begin to center either on the parents’ story or the children’s future. Even so, the story remains engaging and emotionally heavy.

Prepare to cry, because Twelve Letters does not hold back. As someone who has a soft spot for orphan stories, certain scenes were especially difficult to watch. The ending took me completely by surprise—I cried so much watching everything unfold. While I’m relieved A’Xun and A’Tang get their happy ending, it broke my heart that Shen Cheng and Yu Nian may never get to see them again. This drama leaves you with a heavy heart in the best way; it’s one I know I’ll be thinking about for days.

I also loved how the story gradually unfolded—from the familiar trope of an abusive, gambling parent to the two leads becoming classmates, all tied together by the magical time-traveling mailbox. Watching how both generations interacted with this mystery and eventually solved it was one of the most fascinating parts of the series. As the story progressed, I realized how little we truly know about our own parents’ lives. The more the characters dug into the past, the more they uncovered secrets that had never been spoken. It really drives home the idea that we often don’t know our parents as deeply as we think. These revelations made the story even more compelling, and honestly, that’s what kept me binge-watching the entire series in one day. And with its short length, it’s incredibly easy to get through.

One thing I wish had been explained better was the beginning of Episode 8. A murder occurs, A’Xun suddenly takes the blame, and it all happens so fast that it left my head spinning. At first I was frustrated, but looking back, that confusion kept me hooked because I needed to understand how everything connected.

On a lighter note, Zhou Yi Ran really impressed me. I’ve seen a bit of his work before and thought he was just another pretty face, but he proved me wrong here—his acting range truly surprised me. Zheng He Hui Zi was wonderful as well; I loved her in In Blossom, and I’m excited to see her take on more roles.

Overall, Twelve Letters is emotional, unique, and absolutely worth watching. It’s a heartfelt blend of mystery, family, and time travel that stays with you long after the final episode. I highly recommend it.

A Death That Inspires Life...

I loved this. But I'll start with a gripe so I can end on a good note.

I remember interacting with an MDL user once who said she didn't like Cdramas because they glorified work in an unhealthy way. That stuck. I thought it was interesting, since I expected Chinese entertainment to portray more traditional family dynamics, being a traditionally patriarchal country. But I discovered this is not the case. Almost all dramas portray both spouses working in some capacity. So, as I've watched more Cdramas, unfortunately I think this critique is true. I'm not sure if this is just a Chinese ethic or if it's propaganda from the government (any time a drama portrays the government as "goodhearted" and "functional" instantly smells fishy; there is no such government. And entertainment is the place where much of that critique happens in countries with the freedom to speak their mind in media (but not so in Cdramas! It makes me a bit leary)). While the writer and/or director managed to meld this glorifying of work into a much healthier and more tempered message about healing (that includes taking something of a break from work, but not really, because Hongdou can't help but jump in again) and finding your passion, discovering who you are, finding a partner to build a life of mutual dignity and respect with, and figuring out what you want in life, it still smacked of the clear message, "Every good, responsible citizen will do their part." But again, the glorifying of work (thankfully) was almost smothered by the more positive, cozy, and upbeat elements of this story, and these allowed me to embrace it despite some of the drawbacks.

On to what I loved.

The drama just oozed cozy, comfy, and relaxing vibes. The plot plods along at a gentle, soothing pace, like a stream flowing slowly and calmly to its destination. The leads' relationshop was one of the healthiest I've seen in a modern Cdrama. It was all just so comforting and like a warm hug (my favorite kind of slice of life drama). It does remind me of Hometown Cha Cha Cha in ways, but it's a much slower pace, and very little drama or angst in comparison. I love the quiet, ambient moments where a person is just filmed enjoying a breeze in Youfeng Couryard, or sipping a cup of tea as steam wafts from their drink, or shots that almost felt like snapshots or still lifes of the countryside in all its quaint beauty (I can totally see why this area boomed with tourism after this drama aired!).

Finally, as I was close to finishing the drama, I thought about how much Hongdou's life was changed (for the better) by traveling to Yunnan. And it was all because of Chen Nanxing. If it weren't for Chen Nanxing's death, Hongdou would never have gone to Yunnan, and she would never have grown, blossomed and flourished like we see her do as she rediscovers who she is, and what she wants in life. Nanxing changed Hongdou's life, but also so many other people's lives by extension. What a beautiful legacy! I hope my death can mean as much (whenever it happens, haha).

I just loved watching Hongdou grieve, heal, fall in love, and find her feet and stumble upon her passion unexpectedly. It was beautiful, and inspiring.

P.S. Granny has to be my favorite old grandma from any drama to date.

P.P.S. The music was perfect.

The drama under rated, must be 8.0 ! Romance, revenge, intimacy well done!

As a short drama, this drama nailed it. Zhou Jun Wei acting is 10/10. he nailed it. If you are female, you MUST watch it. his gym sessions definetly worth it. I promise...
Daisy Li the FL does fit perfect. they do match 100%, better match than in Gemini, the drama.
In general romance and revenge is mixed , i liked it. They give us pain with hot scenes. you will rewatch most of the scenes!!!
The chemistry is one of the best . intimate scenes are so far (hot, hot , hot) one of the best i have ever watched in historical and wushia dramas.
for a short drama the music fits, costumes are allright.

“This drama is a sweet rom-com with a light mystery element—fun and heartwarming.”

Suspicious Partner is one of those dramas that stays with you long after you finish it. It blends romance, comedy, and mystery in such a comfortable and satisfying way that you never feel overwhelmed by the crime plot, nor bored by the lighter moments. What makes the drama truly shine, though, is the incredible chemistry between Ji Chang-wook and Nam Ji-hyun. Their dynamic as Noh Ji-wook and Eun Bong-hee feels so natural that it almost doesn’t look like acting — it feels like two people slowly, sincerely falling for each other.

Ji Chang-wook brings a quiet warmth and emotional depth to Ji-wook, and Nam Ji-hyun’s bright, honest energy as Bong-hee complements him perfectly. They balance each other in a way that makes every scene — whether funny, awkward, or heartbreaking — feel authentic and beautifully connected. Their chemistry is not loud or forced; it grows gently, scene by scene, with soft glances, subtle tension, and genuinely sweet moments that make your heart flutter without even trying.

What’s special about this drama is how their relationship feels grounded in real trust and emotional support. You watch them comfort each other, tease each other, argue, and grow together — all in a way that feels sincere and relatable. Their banter is adorable, their emotional scenes are believable, and their romantic moments are effortlessly charming. It’s one of those pairings where you can’t imagine any other actors playing these roles because they fit each other so well.

Even with the crime storyline running in the background, the drama never loses its warmth. Instead, the heavier moments make the relationship stronger and more meaningful. By the end, you feel like you’ve watched a full, healing love story rather than just a rom-com.

Overall, Suspicious Partner is a drama carried by heart, character chemistry, and an unforgettable pairing. If you love romance that feels genuine, leads who truly connect, and a story that stays emotional without losing its fun, this drama is absolutely worth watching.

Just an encore indeed

Just an Encore is a sweet, heartfelt drama that beautifully captures the innocence of youth, school friendships, and the complexities of first love. Ding Yuxi’s character shines through as sincere, caring, and deeply understanding—someone who truly sees the heroine for who she is and allows her to be her authentic self, which is rare and touching. The “puppy love” dynamic, with unrequited feelings at first and a slow realization of emotions, makes the romance feel genuine and relatable.

I loved how the story focused on friendships, school memories, and the subtle struggles of growing up, without exaggerating the romance or including unnecessary drama. My only complaint is the pacing of the heroine’s realization of her feelings; it came very late, leaving just two episodes for them to fully enjoy their connection. Also, it would have been nice to see exactly how and when Ding Yuxi’s character fell for her back in junior high school.

Overall, it’s a mesmerizing, light, and pure youth romance that I thoroughly enjoyed, mostly because of Ding Yuxi’s perfect portrayal and the gentle, sincere way the story handled relationships and emotions.

Midnight Tea, Mild Drama, Maximum Cute...

This drama looks cute on the surface, and to be fair, the production team didn’t cheap out. The sets are warm, the lighting is soft, and the whole thing feels like someone sprinkled a light romance filter over life. The story starts strong too… until the plot decides to wander off like it forgot where it was going. That breakup scene especially felt like the writers pulled it out of a hat. I kept thinking did I miss an episode or did they just decide to stir drama for sport.

The cast carries most of the weight. The FL is sharp, steady, and actually behaves like a grown woman, which is refreshing. The ML has charm but occasionally acts like he’s reading the script for the first time. Their chemistry is there, but not blazing. More like comfortable warm tea instead of fire. The supporting characters do their job but no one steals the spotlight. They’re more like background seasoning, not the main flavour.

As for pacing, some parts fly, some drag, and a few episodes feel like extended fillers. The drama could’ve wrapped itself sooner instead of looping around the same emotional roundabout. Thankfully, the ending doesn’t crash the plane. It lands nicely, ties things up, and leaves you in a decent mood.

Overall, it’s a light, pleasant watch. Not groundbreaking, not rage-inducing, just one of those dramas you watch after a long day when you want something sweet but not too complicated. Fun in parts, frustrating in a few places, but still good enough to finish with a smile and maybe a shrug. 😊

Major angst fest

First of all, a fair warning; most of the YT postings of this had horrible subs and no music which will make it a harrowing experience for you so unless you know original spoken language or could do better translation you might let this go. Without good subs it is really a bad watch.
But I found it on IQIYI Vertical Drama tab, and it was surprisingly engaging. Mind you, this is typical "they protect each other by not being honest and thus get manipulated by 3rd party into hurting each other and getting hurt by others". But overall, this one had a chaotic and inconsistent plot of second chances causing characters to be either permanently ticked off or depressed. I mean, leads get in the time loop (reincarnation) twice and in both cases ML dies and FL chose to follow. Of course, they are not aware that the other one had lived through the nightmare before. In the third time around, she does the ridiculous flip to pick not her beloved but the hated emperor while he chose to usurp the throne to protect her. It sounds good in theory, but they get backlashes of these radical decisions and when unexpected things start happening (during which there is misunderstandings galore as they really never speak openly about what they feel and why they do what they do) she gets tortured and humiliated (by harem women plus her would be husband she hates) and he turns into a love you-hate you indecisive fool and rapist. Lovely, huh? I don't think I will remember this tomorrow and definitely will not rewatch as the ending was simply ridiculous.
But the actors were doing decent job with their roles.
Director is asked to go back to rethinking his idea of guiding actors toward a cohesive vision of the story and actually having a cohesive vision- right now the only consistent thing it delivered was angst and sudden events that came out of nowhere just to make it a HE.
This will appeal to anybody who likes "fated not to be together" (ie Lost You Forever) and fans of typical palace schemery or aggression toward wilted flower women.

All Hail to the Great Chief Shen Du

I started watching this drama back in Sept 2024, but only watched like 30 minutes of it before moving on to another drama. I went back in May 2025, stopped watching it again and then a little bit in June, and I honestly felt bad because I had been sidetracked with so many dramas that I was waiting for. November 2025 came and I was like, you know what? I need to finish it now because I’ve been seeing a lot of good comments about this drama and I should definitely continue. I have watched Ding Yuxi in Love Game in Eastern Fantasy and Love You Seven Times and enjoyed watching his dramas. After finishing a few episodes, I really wanted to slap myself because why on earth did I waited so long to watch this beautiful drama?? The main character, Shen Du, is the great chief Shen Du aka The White Ghost of Dacang, the head of the imperial guards, and everyone is afraid of him. He looked really powerful here. Arrogant and domineering, but we always know why a character is like that. It’s definitely a facade. A barrier. I noticed how muscular he looked here compared to his older dramas. We also meet the female lead, Yan Xing (or Liuniang for some) is a brave little clerk of the Ministry of Justice. The FL is a brave little cookie, but every time she goes out on her own, she always gets herself in trouble. Her sister who was supposed to marry Shen Du, eloped with another man. To save the Yan family, she took her sister’s place. She knew Shen Du at the beginning of the story, but he acted like he didn’t know her. I love the ML because even though he found out that Yan Xing lied and hid some secrets from him, especially becoming a spy to track his whereabouts and activities, he understood why she did that. I love how jealous he gets when she mentions Pan Chi or whenever she goes out with him to investigate. Like that one time, Shen Du kicked Pan Chi and he fell inside the well. Hilarious. I love her family, they were all supportive. There were some deaths in the story and it was really heartbreaking. I loved everything about this drama. Can you imagine your whole family being annihilated but you had to choose another way to survive by denouncing your father. It must be so hard for Shen Du. Even with a tough exterior, he has a very good heart. I’m glad the empress trusted Shen Du. He did the right thing. I was so glad Princess of Valor and Prince Xian didn’t do anything to hurt Shen Du and Yan Xing. At first I was like, what are their agendas? Can they be trusted? The actor who played the villain, Lai, the black fiend, did an amazing job. He was ruthless and delusional. Ding Yuxi was awesome here with his sword fights. Awesome actor. Anyway, the ending was cute. We didn’t see any babies, but it’s okay. I highly recommend this drama. One of the best, in my opinion.
