As a newbie in the cdramas world, I can say this drama is quite interesting for me and made me fall into this cdramas world. I first watched it in 2022 and I was totally hooked! The story, the characters, and their emotions were so engaging. I fangirled quietly to myself, but it was impossible not to get excited about everything. This drama made me curious to explore more cdramas and I'm loving every bit of it~

Definitely underrated

Love and Fortune is one of those rare dramas that feel uncomfortably close to real life. The 7.0 rating does not do it justice. It is a quiet, intimate exploration of long-term relationships, loneliness, temptation, and the confusing warmth of being seen again after years of feeling invisible.

For me, this drama hit very close to home. I recognized almost everything: the treadmill-feeling of a long relationship, the slow erosion of appreciation, the unexpected thrill of being adored by someone younger, the slight embarrassment of holding hands in public with a man much younger, the painful clarity that comes when you love someone yet feel the relationship cooling anyway. And the pain of letting someone go after being together for years, even though the relationship does not feel right anymore.

The series handles handles all this perfectly: thoughtful writing, beautiful filming, and perfectly chosen actors. Even after watching it twice, it stayed with me and stirred old memories I thought I had long outgrown.

It may not be a drama for everyone, but for those who have lived through these complicated shades of love and longing, Love and Fortune feels unusually true. For me, it is a clear 10.

Me and Thee (Episode 1)✨

I just finished the first episode and honestly it’s amazing. From the trailer alone you could already tell it was going to be interesting, but the episode itself really exceeded my expectations.

The story is already engaging, but what really stood out to me is the acting. The acting is so good. It’s genuinely funny in a natural way. Their expressions make everything even better, especially Peach. Phuwin in this is amazing. And then there’s Mr. Thee, saying the most ridiculous things 😹

My absolute favorite part so far is the cinematography. The directing and the way it’s shot — simply beautiful. It feels intentional, stylish, and elevates the entire experience. It’s only the first episode, so there’s definitely a lot more to see.

Amazing family drama with Amazing Actors

This drama is amazing. People who grew up in traditional Asian families in the past 30-40 years would resonate with the family vibes. Parents who are over bearing and show love by scolding and then secretly worrying and crying. China’s progress in the background is an added bonus for us who like history. And it’s really amazing to see how China have progressed. Just go look at the cities today vs what you see in the drama.

ML is such a great actor. The ML’s character is so endearing , very cute, toothy infectious laughter, , always with a silly smile yet he hides a big ambition to grow and contribute to people and places he loves. Elvis Han deserves a bigger reputation and fame than many actors today. I suspect his dramas are mostly aired and catered to local audience and not international ones as I can’t find most of them on overseas platforms.

FL is amazing as usual. This is my third drama of hers in a row, after I discovered her in recent drama Wild Ambition Bloon. Her acting is powerful, natural and versatile, comparable to Sun Li. She too deserves more fame.

The story although good can be a little unrealistic at times. In particular, how the MIL keeps the ML‘s ID book even though he is a grown adult and family breadwinner…thus causing him to not be able to get his marriage registered and officiated for 9 years. Not possible. Secondly, the SFL character. She made someone’s husband abandon his family and young son for a period of time because she insists that he has to help her in her rehabilitation. It’s borderline blackmailing him by threatening him that otherwise she will die. It’s ridiculous. She has enough money to hire the best nurses to help her. She is so selfish. Luckily although she schemed her way to make his mother force him to marry her and abandon his real wife and son, fate has it that it didn’t happen. Luckily her character didn’t turn typically evil and ML was so resolute in never giving in. I love ML for this. He never waivered inspite of all kinds of pressure and blackmail to marry SFL.

Overall this is a very good drama. Not typical in terms of key challenges and love triangle’s. Highly recommend this.

It is a great medical drama but doesn't focus on patients as much as other medical dramas.
Who wouldn't fall in love with the ML. Witty, goofy and sarcastic while being a great surgeon. He is honest and is great under pressure.
The SML, I liked his development to blindly following his senior to holding the scalpel for a major case.

Too little internal conflicts, too much external bullshit.

What started as a fun cliche rom-com, ended up as a dumpster fire of convenient resolutions and dumb plotlines with close to zero proper development. How?

Romantic comedies are as good as the characters and the chemistry between them - be it couples, friends and even rivals and villains. Sadly for Would You Marry Me, the writing left a lot to desire. None of the relationships was set up, developed and explored enough. When the big changes in dynamics happened, big plot twists that should have huge emotional impact on the audience, I actually felt nothing. Not only that, at times it felt as if the characters barely felt anything. Why are you reacting to this life changing moment as if it was nothing more than a daily annoyance?

Woo Ju and Meri were cute together, but all the crap happening around them made their relationship actually barely exist on screen. How do you even have time to develop the couple? Or any character? Or any of the plotlines you introduced? The same way dramas have main and supporting characters, they also should have main and supporting plots and use the proper ratio of screentime on them. Here it’s hard to even point out what the main plotline is. Was it the fake relationship and the house scheme? Maybe the mystery about Woo Ju’s past and his family? Both too poorly written, developed and concluded to be called the main. What exactly was the focus? What was I supposed to take away from this show?

I was watching episode 11 and 12, where everything was supposed to slowly get resolved and it just felt empty. Convenient ways out of serious problems, the most lucky police work when the evidence literally walks into their hands, last second relationships progresses - and I did not care at all.

I cannot even say the acting saved the drama, since it was rather mediocre. Not because of the actors and actresses - I know they are great. Jung So Min is one of my favorite actresses and I started this drama for her. The writing was just so bland and it lacked detail. Honestly, I don't know if this lackluster presentation was the result of poor writing, directing, or mix of both. One way or another, the show ended up as a huge disappointment.

On the positive side - I did like a lot of separate scenes. Some jokes were funny. I also really enjoyed the dynamics between Woo Ju and Eung Su (if Eung Su had more screen time he would probably be my favorite character). I found Baek Sang Hyeon’s story the most interesting and I liked how he was not necessarily just presented as a victim of circumstances, but also his own choices. Not to mention all the scenes with the second lead couple that seemed far more… natural and interesting than the leads.

I don’t have much to say about the production - your typical pretty shots with little to no innovation.

Overall, I’m just disappointed. There was so much going on plot wise, and yet I was painfully bored the whole second half. There were too many stupid external conflicts and issues with poorly written resolution and not enough internal development to truly make me feel connected to any of the characters. I wanted to love it, but the drama was on a mission to make me fail.

With these two actors as leads I thought that it would be a decent watch and it did start out well. I enjoyed the first 5 episodes.

But after that, I was just watching to complete it. It wasn't fun anymore. There wasn't much to their story, the two things that stood out were the connection they had as children and the two guys sharing the same name.

This wasn't Jung So Min's best performance either, seemed a bit half hearted. I usually enjoy her dramas.

The second couple stole the show here.

A little disappointed, I feel like they had all the right ingredients but the recipe didn't work.

Despite that, since I am fond of the actors and theme, I might try watching it again to gain a better perspective.

10000/10

Such a gem of a drama.. the way I immediately rewatched the drama after completing it.. my god, it was a drlight to watch this drama… also the way I didn’t want the drama to end like I was on ep 12 and was already whining that not much is left, why couldn’t it be long like costume dramas … so damn good
Everyone played their character so well, I’m amazed..
Talking abt the leads, their visuals? So easy on the eyes, such a good looking couple and one of the most beautiful chemistry hands down
ML was the epitome of green flag, despite the trauma, he was so damn kind and sweet even before he was in love.. but holy hell ML after being in love was something else, so damn loving… oh to be loved like that, sang zhi is so damn lucky …. Talking abt FL, she was damn spot on in her love… I love love love how being the younger one, she was more fierce than ML esp when it came to protecting him… like u can’t mess with her man, nope ….i love such female leads who puts equal effort and is equally protective of her love … I still can’t get over them, my new comfort drama, gonna rewatch it again and again

A Must Watch GL

With the huge boom in GLs this year, I know it can be hard to pick and choose which series are worth to watch but trust me when I say that Love Design is a must watch for everyone.

I was already excited for this series when the pilot dropped because Jane has been one of my favorite actresses for a while and I've always wanted a GL and I've heard about Kao for a while as someone who watches a lot of Thai series. I didn't know what to expect when it came to their chemistry but they did not disappoint whatsoever. They are so natural together.

Positives: I loved the editing of the series that gave it such a different feeling that I can't even explain. The fact that we didn't have to deal with homophobic parents was also great because it can get tiring seeing that same homophobic parent storyline over and over as queer people watching and dealing with that in real life.

Negatives: I didn't care whatsoever about the side couple tbh and think the series could have done without them, nothing against the actresses who played them though. And I feel like the pacing in the last couple episodes could have been better.

Overall, one of my favorite series released this year.

All the flavour in one dish

It's too rare for bl industry to give such a rare series. Although I don't like the old period setting and politics, this series gave me so much more to appreciate everything. I started it for Apo mile but the 2nd couple successfully caught my attention.
As always I love everything done by Apo, he is such a great actor that it gets hard to not admire him.
Back to series, it is fun to watch, sad, romance, mystery, depressing. There are many scenes, when we know some love stories are doomed from starting but we still root for them. And I love this iconic series for its execution, all the elements whether it's style, it's setting, everything.
I will suggest to watch it atleast once, don't miss the gem🫶🏻.

He said YES…

The drama “Would You Marry Me?” is a light and pleasant rom-com that offers an easy and relaxed viewing experience. It does not rely on a complex plot or narrative layers that require mental focus, which makes it a suitable choice when your mind is occupied with other things.

The overall atmosphere of the drama is charming and calm. The directing was smooth and visually comfortable, and I found nothing to criticize visually. The progression of events was also well crafted and fitting for a light drama. However, I do have clear reservations regarding the secondary couple. I feel the writer did not give them enough space to develop their storyline. Instead, the ex-boyfriend’s scenes were excessive, which I personally did not enjoy, especially since he kept chasing her until the very end.

Regarding the performances, the cast did a good job overall, although I expected a deeper emotional layer in some parts. So Min’s acting in particular felt somewhat flat this time, and that made it difficult for me to truly connect with the characters. Still, I genuinely enjoyed the light comedy and the romance presented in the drama, and they were enough to make the experience pleasant.

I will definitely watch more of Choi Woo Shik’s works, especially since I already like So Min and usually follow her projects.

A Hidden Gem Packed With Twists, Layers, and Zero Predictability

This drama had me second-guessing every single character from the moment it started. Just when I thought I finally understood someone, the story would flip everything upside down with another twist, not the cheap, forced kind, but the kind that makes you sit up and rethink every assumption you’ve made. It’s rare to find a drama that keeps you genuinely unsure who to trust, who to pity, and who to fear, but this one pulls it off effortlessly.

What really makes the show stand out is how deeply layered the characters are. No one is straightforward. No one is predictable. Every character feels like a fully fleshed-out human being flawed, guarded, traumatized, and shaped by choices they made long before the present timeline. The writing never hands you information on a silver platter. Instead, it reveals truths slowly, through actions, memories, and shifting perspectives, making you piece together each character like a psychological puzzle.

The pacing is tight from episode one. There’s no filler, no detours ,just a gripping atmosphere full of tension and ambiguity. You can feel the emotional weight behind every interaction. The story constantly walks the line between suspicion and sympathy, and half the time you don’t know whether to root for someone or be afraid of them.

And the performances? Excellent across the board. Every actor , main cast, supporting characters, even guest roles brings a sense of realism that makes the unfolding mystery feel even more unsettling. The characters’ emotional scars, trauma, and inner conflicts aren’t just hinted at; they’re felt.

For a drama this well-written, it’s honestly wild how underrated it is. It deserves far more attention for its storytelling, psychological depth, and ability to keep viewers engaged without resorting to clichés or cheap shock value. It’s the kind of show that rewards you for paying attention and keeps your brain working the entire time.

If you love crime thrillers with morally grey characters, carefully built tension, and twists that actually make sense, this drama is absolutely worth watching and then discussing, because you’ll definitely have thoughts once it’s over.

It has become my favourite Romcom ever

Just finished the entire series. So good. Episode 9 has some meh scenes IMO. But that is like 10 minutes or so. The rest of the show doesn't have a single skip scene, unbelievable. Best show ever, so comforting. I will keep rewatching. Thank you MAT cast, especially the director, writer, screenwriter, pond and phuwin.

Peach in the begining looked so dull. But as the story progresses, we see him from Thee's POV and he literally glows at times. Pretty much anytime Peach touches Thee, he suddenly looks like an angel sent from heaven lol. The way this show is shot, directed is so good. They somehow made Phuwin look "simple" in the beginning, how did they achieve it?! Phuwin's acting too- as Peach grows more comfortable with Thee, he starts emoting. In the beginning he is so reserved, and quiet. This is so subtle and realistic. The last episode blew my mind too, like that is Pond Phuwin???? I am so shy!!! I know this show is "just" a romcom but it is so good. Wow.

It is now my favourite romcom ever. It has surpassed Legally Blonde, Jab We Met, Business Proposal, True Beauty. All of them had scenes I skipped. This show has not had a SINGLE skippable scene yet. No comparison at all, surpasses all of them. I already rewatched every episode.

---- (old review after ep3) ----
Every episode feels amazing, I look forward to Saturdays for this show. This is a really well planned script, the characters are fleshed out well. I think the last time I saw GMMTV plan this well was with BadBuddy- the ads feel like a part of the story too, just like in that show. But it is much better than Bad Buddy because there are no fillers. The pacing here is excellent, I never speed up or skip anything. So rare with dramas! Their OST is great too.

Also, it reminds me of Business Proposal and What's wrong with secretary Kim. Like the RomCom level is THAT perfect. It is better than both the shows till episode 3 because not a single scene is skippable, it might actually overtake both of them for me. It is a legendary romcom. As it is as, I watch every episode 2 times, I even watch the behind the scenes and PondPhuwin reaction I love the jokes so much.

Only regret is that I can't understand Thai. I think Thai people enjoy it even more. I am grateful to the screenwriter, director and the translators! Also for the cinematography, editing and OST. I feel blessed to be able to see this show.

It had potential. I almost dropped it.

A major issue is pacing. At times it was so slow and so skipped a lot of the dialogue as it seemed unnecessary and chunky at times and other times everything was happening at once with me having no clue what actually was happening so everything is slightly jumbled.
It had a solid if not cliche story.
The characters were okay with no one really standing out apart from Dan who I liked from the beginning. Too bad he is in a coma.
