Like a gentle breeze
A very soothing, gentle, warm and healing drama.Music matches the gentle tone of drama. Beautifully captured shots. Loved how healthy relations are portrayed. Good chemistry.
Not much eventful story and slow at times.
But definitely worth a watch, a heartwarming experience.
Solid 8.0❤️

The best modern drama I've ever seen
Glad I tried this drama before. Because for me modern drama is not my taste. Last time I watch modern drama is all about K-drama. But this hooked me up even when I watched the trailer for the first timeI have no high expectation because when the filming not much reuters there. But wow, this drama for me is 10/10
For real
At outside the story is so simple, but when you watch it further it's quite complicated. I personally like story that have similarity with real experience. I have similar story as SXF confidentally. So I can help to rewind my own experiences
Me who had trauma as her and not yet healing 100%, this drama is like a medicine for me. Hoping someday I'll meet my own HSY 😭
Lastly, i shall gave big applaus for the director. Love the cinematography in it, i could feel at ease watching every episodes, and the screenwriter for this beautiful story, and for the leads. Hhhh love their acting, how natural them being in each other presence. I can feel their emotion, their love. And i must say I am about getting diabetes watching them together 🤣🤣🤣
As ZLH fans I'm so happy cause he accept this script. Can't picture another HSY. And XRH as well ❤️❤️❤️🥺

This drama simmered so gently, I forgot it was on.
I have mixed feelings about this drama — the kind that makes you sigh dreamily because the main couple is genuinely sweet, then immediately sigh again out of frustration because the story itself feels like a slow descent into narrative purgatory. Zhang Ling He was the magnet that pulled me in; his face card could carry an entire dynasty, but sadly, not this drama. Xu Ruo Han was lovely too, more than holding her own. So let’s be clear: the leads were not the problem. The problem was everything happening around them — or rather, the lack thereof.I love slow burn romance. Give me longing glances, emotional repression, even years of unresolved tension if it pays off in fire. But this wasn’t slow burn — it was just slow. Like wading through lukewarm bathwater, tepid and bland, with no heat in sight. The “romance” mostly consisted of walking, flower-staring, and meandering scenes that had the narrative commitment of a lost tourist. I needed toothpicks to keep my eyes open — and not in a binge-worthy, “I can’t stop watching” way, but in a “why am I still awake for this?” way.
And then there was the dreaded intoxicated first kiss. Can we retire this trope already? It wasn’t romantic, swoony, or even messy fun — just tired. They also tried to stir in angst with the ex-boyfriend and his one-dimensional outbursts, but it barely registered, except give Xi Fan the trauma-induced backstory she needed to see Su Ye in the first place, and later an excuse to run into Su Ye’s arms.
Oddly enough, I found myself liking Xi Fan’s parents. The resolution Xi Fan had with her parents was surprisingly healthy and mature — they were quick to recognize their shortcomings and have an honest heart-to-heart with their daughter, which was refreshing to see. For once, the elders weren’t the source of melodrama, and even Professor Yu — Dr. He’s grandfather — added a layer of warmth. But liking a handful of side characters isn’t enough to drag me through a drama that refuses to spark.
In the end, The Best Thing felt like a drama that wanted to be tender and introspective but ended up sleepy and safe. Sweet couple, yes. But sweetness without spice just leaves a bland aftertaste — and no amount of face card could make that worth finishing.

A total stress buster
Majority shows, be if rom-com, thriller or sci-fi has already been done a lot. What matters are the presentation and if the characters can catch one's attention.
I totally loved this show, the characters and the actors... literally everything about this show gave one such positive vibes.
This one is a total stress buster, and like i previously commented, you do not even feel like throwing your laptop or beating someone after any episode. Like the characters and story, the full show is like a healing process even for viewers.
Rewatch: definitely, it can improves your mood at any time.
P.S: even if you hate the actors or anything, you can still enjoy this show for its cinematography and the beautiful locations, So pleasing to one's eyes.

A Simple, Heartfelt, and Comforting Romance
It’s a simple story about a young woman, Shen Xi Fan, who struggles with insomnia due to the stress of her life: her dreams of studying abroad and a neglectful fiancé who treats her poorly. The constant strain leaves her restless, unable to find peace. On the other side, there’s He Su Ye, a young and accomplished doctor specializing in traditional Chinese medicine. He becomes her doctor, and as the story unfolds, the two grow closer and develop a friendship.
Like any TV romance, there are a few bumps along the way, miscommunications that keep the plot engaging, but at its core, both characters are genuinely kind and caring. He Su Ye, in particular, is full of love and deeply committed to taking care of Shen Xi Fan.
While it’s not groundbreaking, it’s a heartwarming story, sweet, a little funny, a little sad, but ultimately comforting. In its simplicity, it’s just a wholesome and healing watch.

down to earth & fluffy love story, green flag male lead!
finished this show in six days, and that should be enough to tell you how captivating this drama was for me!i love the leads and they have such great chemistry and compliment each others physical features really well which is a define must in calming love story. how the screenwriters weaved in the concept of chinese traditional medicine was just phenomenal, and was definitely one of the biggest factors that kept me wanting to go onto the next episode. there was a perfect blend between the storyline about their career, family dynamics and their romance. i do believe that this show is pretty well done in the cinematography aspect as well, since making flowers (or some cases the herbs/ingredients) a symbol really worked well in further enhancing the storyline!
i am glad there was only less than three toxic characters that are meant to create misunderstanding and a wedge between the main lead because tbh it would not be a correct depiction of what would happen in real life (although the whole concept about falling in love with a kind, handsome, a green flag, doctor who specializes in TCM is unrealistic, but not impossible LOL)!
also, seeing a woman in her late 20s going to get her masters, is quite uplifting for me since i have been contemplating about when i should take my masters. it has also taught me to do what i want to do, when i want and not let anyone else dictate what i should or should not be doing because i do not want to waste my precious years!
one thing that stood between me giving this show a 10 star rating was that i think that the overall storyline was quite stretched. this thought only comes from a personal preference of wanting the feeling of "wanting more of the couple content even after the show is done." However, do not let this aspect not make you want to watch this drama because it is very well made and heart-fluttering!

a show about finding love but also one's journey of healing
WAAHHHH why is it over? I kid you not, I stopped watching 2/3s in BECAUSE I DIDN’T WANT IT TO END. I have also literally booked an appointment with a TCM clinic too. I already have a husband locked in though so no rich TCM cutie patootie for me.Shen Xi Fan and He Su Ye were written in the stars, in the flowers, and in the universe. I have soooo many thoughts about this show but I forgot to write them all down ASAP so I don’t know where to start. I just know that this show is a very HAPPY and LIGHT show for the most part DESPITE the premise also being about healing. While Shen Xi Fan has to heal from her emotionally abusive ex, He Su Ye is also having to re-confront his relationship with his semi-estranged father despite the resentment of his father’s lack of care while his mother died of breast cancer. Somehow, the bright & blossoming cinematography as the backdrop of their pure healing chemistry alleviates the heaviness of the show’s topics.
Watching He Su Ye try to “lowkey” win Shen Xi Fan over was perfection. Fake drunk, fake asleep, swooping in to defend her, making her scent sachets – the list goes onnnn.
While the show was more “slice of life” vibes overall, the main climax is when Shen Xi Fan’s mother is sick. This puts pressure on Shen Xi Fan to “choose” between her family and her dream to study abroad. While I wish her mother was never actually sick, it is the reality overall that so many women are affected by breast cancer. Luckily, the show gives her a HFN and she is on the mend. I did love Shen Xi Fan and her mom’s heart to heart about Shen Xi Fan still pursuing her education. It’s nice because Shen Xi Fan can say she did it, tried it, and still chose to come back to her home and family.

A Drama That Captures the Heart with Romance, Tradition, and Chemistry
If you're searching for a drama that blends heart-fluttering romance, stunning cinematography, and a touch of Chinese medicine's rich history, The Best Thing is an absolute must-watch. This series takes storytelling to another level, delivering an experience so captivating that you’ll find yourself lost in its world, eager to rewatch every breathtaking moment.A Story That Touches the Soul
At its core, The Best Thing follows Shen Xifan, an independent and warm-hearted woman, and He Suye, a brilliant yet reserved doctor with unparalleled expertise in traditional Chinese medicine. Their worlds collide in the most unexpected yet fateful way, intertwining personal growth, deep emotions, and an exploration of ancient healing techniques that add an incredible layer of depth to the narrative. The drama beautifully showcases how love and destiny work hand in hand, proving that some connections are simply meant to be.
The Magic of the Leads & Their Unmatched Chemistry
Shen Xifan is portrayed with such charm and strength that she instantly becomes a character you root for. Her warmth, resilience, and sincerity make her an unforgettable female lead. Meanwhile, He Suye is the epitome of an ideal male lead—reserved yet deeply passionate, intelligent yet emotionally profound.
There is something utterly irresistible about He Suye. Beneath his calm and composed demeanor lies a man with a heart full of quiet devotion. He isn't the type to express his emotions in grand gestures, but his love speaks through every small, thoughtful action. Whether it’s the way he looks at Shen Xifan as if she’s his entire world, the gentle way he cares for her, or the unshakable support he offers in her most vulnerable moments—He Suye is the kind of male lead that sets the bar impossibly high. His protective nature isn’t overbearing, but rather a comforting presence, making him one of the most lovable and unforgettable characters in recent dramas.
Together, their chemistry is nothing short of electrifying. Every glance, every subtle touch, and every emotionally charged conversation between them feels incredibly real, drawing viewers deeper into their love story. It's the kind of romance that makes your heart race and leaves you grinning at the screen.
Stunning Cinematography & the Beauty of Tradition
Visually, The Best Thing is an absolute masterpiece. The cinematography captures every moment with elegance, from the serene settings of traditional medicine clinics to the intimate cityscapes that highlight the romance. The integration of Chinese medicine isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a living, breathing part of the story that adds both authenticity and intrigue. It’s fascinating to see how this ancient practice plays a role in shaping the characters' journeys, making this drama stand out among modern romance series.
Why This Drama is a Must-Watch
Every aspect of The Best Thing works in perfect harmony—flawless storytelling, phenomenal acting, stunning visuals, and an emotional depth that stays with you long after the final episode. It’s the kind of drama that makes you laugh, cry, and believe in love all over again. Without a doubt, this is one of the most unforgettable dramas of the year, and for those who haven’t watched it yet—you’re in for something truly special.

I loved it
Honestly, this drama had me hooked from the beginning. The drama was a beautiful. The chemistry between the leads was electric, and I couldn’t help but root for them every step of the way. The emotions felt real, and the characters—especially the protagonist—felt like people you could relate to on a deeper level. There was a certain rawness in the way they navigated their lives that kept me engaged. What truly stood out was the relationship between the protagonist and her parents. It was one of those bonds that pulls at your heartstrings, especially with the challenges they face together. However, by the end, things started feeling a little... predictable. When the mother’s health took a turn, I could see it coming from a mile away. It definitely packed an emotional punch, but it didn’t have the shock factor I was hoping for. The drama’s earlier moments had such an edge to them, and this turn felt a bit like it was relying on a familiar trope.
Another thing that left me wanting more was the storyline with the ex-boyfriend. I honestly thought there was so much potential there. His role in the protagonist’s life was intriguing, but I felt like the show didn’t explore it enough. He had this complexity that I wished the drama dug deeper into. I kept wondering what could have been if they spent a bit more time on his character.
Overall, The Best Thing is still a really solid watch, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that it could’ve been even more powerful with a few more unexpected twists and more development of certain side stories. Still, it’s a great mix of emotions, love, and life lessons.

I like to have loved it but that is not the case
I don't usually bother with writing reviews, I leave score and that it!. I am gonna be honest and started to watch it becuase of the ML Zhang Linghe, I can't say the drama was a disappointment but it wasn't great and something I would rewatch.First off I love that the theme is about TCM, also each episode beginning they introduce 1 item and what is good with it. The drama was so slow going it got on my nerves. Even the amazing ML couldn't stop it from being a tad boring, the plain actress Fl, never seen her before and don't think she is a good actress or match with the ML to make them being a couple believable but this is just my opinion.
It really annoyed me she strung the guy all along and she knew that they had feelings for each other, she did the jealous thing when she thought he had a son and was so stroppy with him, once she found out it was a misunderstanding and to me this made it very clear to the ML she was interested in him. Yet she turned him down when he asked her to be his girlfriend, like what was that about? if your not interested then don't string him along; Yes I know the storyline of she is scared because of her ex, however they are friends and she didn't need to be so cruel to him. At this point I nearly dropped the drama, but I carried on and finished it but can't say I enjoyed it 100% I just wanted to finish it.
