If you like more action less romance

It started off strong and enjoyed the dynamic between the 2 leads. The chemistry was good and the acting was decent. It dragged on and I started skipping ahead. The side character stories were good and it had a lot of great scenes. However the leads were hardly in the last half of the show and were less and less together. At a critical point they were not even together so it kind of ruined the last half. Was enjoyable to watch but would not watch again. Action scenes were great. If you like more action and less romance this is a show for you.

a mess

I don't understand the script that forces FL to act stupidly to become a hero even though he is a doctor and there are already soldiers who will carry out the task of fighting criminals

At the beginning of the drama it was beyond my control even though it was already good because I thought I would see a drama of the same type as DOTS, but I actually had to stop watching it in the 2nd episode because I couldn't stand watching it anymore.

why does the script have to be like that? This FL drama is even very strange and why does it have to show the scene of ML tying FL's body to a pole in the middle of so many people? WHY?

and is FL not at all sorry for putting people's lives in danger? If only the plot was like this, it would make more sense. but instead they quarreled with strange conversations

FL's acting is also not good, ML I like his expressions but for some reason I can't say his acting is good

The most annoying FL here

I registered my account here just to comment that all Directors should always know that screaming to convey a message is uncool and uncouth. FL constant screaming is major Annoying. FL as a professional doctor, her screams annoys me to the core. It makes her soooooo childish. The screaming of Liang Mu Ze's sister is just as annoying. I don't care how insane she is suppose to portray the character....Screaming is Annoying. I finished this drama just because I wanted to see how well Johnny Hwang did. Sad that Johnny Hwang was placed into this limelight as I think the entire drama is a flop.

Bit messy, need fast forwarding, poor editing

The first 10episodes was good. After that, it became a bit disconnected. If they had cut it down to 24 or 30 episodes, they could get rid of the unnecessary and some stupid stuff that's there purely to bulk up but make no sense. The unnecessary stuff are 1) FL's best friend (super stupid with behavior that totally doesn't make sense 2) repeatedly showing the same theme of the ex classmate's obsession. While I appreciate that they want to showcase the difficult life and ethical dilemma of doctors and soldiers, the poor editing and REPEATEDLY harp on the SAME theme is annoying. They really should develop and edit properly so the police story flows instead of this bitty here bitty there that makes no sense
The ML's cousin is also supper annoying -most viewers would find this person repulsive
I survived it by fast forwarding and editing out the unnecessary characters in my head
I hope the producers and editing team will read these comments and LEARN! Otherwise it's a complete waste of investors money and the actors ' time. Whoever is responsible for editing the second half should be sacked

Johnny Huang proves himself yet again.

One of the best works of Jingyu. And I'm really glad that I decided to watch this show. Action scenes were natural and shot into perfection. Although the female lead's character development was not that great but it's tolerable. What I hated most was the character of Mi Gu. She lost the credibility of her character in the name of love and betrayed her best friend. Could have made it a little bit different. And Tian Yong's sad ending literally broke my heart. Even after finishing I'm still not over it. Lastly Johnny Huang Jingyu single handedly took the show to the top and yet again proved he's so much of an action hero as well as a romantic hero. All the best to cast and crew. Keep making awesome shows.

Give it a watch, it might be worth your time.

I’m all about the high speed chase when it comes to romance dramas I don’t usually do slow burns, so I passed on this drama once or twice before. Until one day I was on YouTube casually browsing when I fell victim to those outrageously titled C-Drama clips and decided to give “My Dear Guardian” a try despite the bad reviews. I’m so glad I decided to watch it.

Although MDG is 40 episodes, I’m not mad at it at all. I think Xia Chu and Mu Ze had a lot to work on in terms of their professional careers and healing from their past. The pacing made sense to me. I was on the edge of my seat every episode while watching their love quietly blossom.

On Xia Chu’s personality: She’s incredibly smart, bubbly and energetic. I would liken her personality/tone to that of the cute characters that Esther Yu, Zhao Lusi, or Dilraba Dilmurat played in their past work. If those type of characters are not your favorite then you might not like Xia Chu but I still say give it a try.

As with any dramas there was a little bit of propaganda here and there but none that had me wanting to stop watching. After all this is a medical/military drama so I expected no less.

The OST is top tier, there are so many good songs to add to your playlist. Overall this was the perfect adult romance to watch when you want a break from the craziness the drama world has to offer.

P.S. iykyk I hope those figurines of Mu Ze and Xia Chu are on sale I need them ASAP.

Decent action-romance plot after a long, long time!

A decent action-romance plot after a long, long time. Looking at the comments though I think its really under-rated coz I believe this was probably one of the best military-action-romance plots out there and everything about the story followed the right logic in a balanced sensible manner. Acting was to the point where every character suited their roles perfectly. I have been following Li Qin well recently and I gotta say she is one of the top chinese actresses out there, with realistic acting approach and of course, really beautiful. This drama had significantly grown its value through her casting. Unnecessarily dragged yes, but that's always been my problem with chinese drama, and this series was among the few chinese drama that I completed despite that, which just shows how great this show was. Some of the scenes were so emotional that they brought tears to my eyes, which is rare with me for chinese drama coz I often find them a little artificial emotions wise, especially the last few episodes. And I love a good military strategical drama and although this wasn't all there on the strategy point of view, sometimes even a little boring so i had to skip through, the action sequences and romance quenched that thirst instead. Overall your missing out on a really great drama if you skip this one.

There are very little redeeming values....

I haven't started a rant review in ages, and this one I thought I will flex my fingers today. Just a quarter of a way through the series. I am curious why the ratings are so low. I can ignore the unrealistic scenarios, how a surgeon can have so much time on her hands, and a military captain can have so much free time off base and on furlough. Once again the female lead character is, boy, irritating (that firing rounds of staccato words from her mouth) and stupidly immature, and dumb. With that blonde IQ how did she made it into medical school I wonder? She comes up with 1+1= 4 maybe 5. I have seen Li Qin in other series and she was quite good, so it has to the scriptwriters' fault. The script for the female has once again failed to do the female justice. Did they hire a silly girl off the street to write the character of an irritating 26-year-old doctor, who is stupid beyond belief, she wasn't funny!!! She actually helped a kid to send a false message to mum? For F-sake she is a doctor!! And this is only episode 8!! I can see more mudslides further down ... The only reason I will stay on and watch the series is because of Johnny Huang JIngYu, whose humour is so dry you can hear it crack and the delivery is excellent! NOT to mention he is a hunky eye candy! He has a bright future ahead. The production value is very high and a lot of potential but shame about the script.. China, if you want to compete, you really need to polish up your script, which is the most important thing and something intelligent for the director to work with. OH they should renamed the hospital Ningjing Beverly Hills Hotel, patients checked in and they rarely checked out! or Maybe call Hospital Death.

HELP! female lead is so annoying it killed the drama.

Omg. I have never really liked Li Qin’s often overacting but this is at another level. She not only over expressed her scenes and talks like she is in a pronunciation competition, she also puts in the action of being loud, act too cute and unreasonable all the time. This can pass if her role is supposed to be an airhead bimbo BUT she is supposed to be a doctor! A smart person with brains. Yet she shouts and even throw tantrums in the hospital itself. No wonder some drama reviewers label her as one of those C drama actresses that just couldn’t get fully popular.

Story wise it’s fine. Interesting and love all the military stuff. ML is great and cool. His best friend the flashbacks acted by Ou Hao is excellent as both of them are manly unlike those white faces and skinny unbelievable heroes.

I tried very hard to hang on but have to to drop due to FL. It’s ruining my sanity to try to believe a person like ML can actually like a loud and annoying person like her. Please don’t watch unless you enjoy childish FL who doesn’t suit the role she is supposed to play.

Excellent
