Kim dokja did not die for ts

The movie is terrible they completely ruined the hole plot they made heewon main character and kim dokja's fav when if it wasn't for kim dokja she wouldn't even have existed kim dokja has said it many times in web novel and webtoon that Yoo Joonghyuk (and Yoo Joonghyuk story) r like his father, is brother, his, lover , his friend, it's his everything so why would he hate his everything the thing that was there when he had nothing and care for his mother his mom is in JAIL and he hated/resented her. Also the fact that they made Yoo Sangah a healer goes against everything she fights for. Also there where many scenes that weren't there in the web novel and webtoon if anything go read the novel or web toon

write your own story bro

whats the point of live action if you literally alter all the character, and also the story??? just write your own story atp.

i seriously create an account just to leave a review here 🫶🏻 if i can leave a 0 star, i will. but that's not possible, so 1 star it is. you better be grateful imdb for that 1 star cuz this doesn't even deserve any.

first of all, no hate for the actors. you guys work hard. but for the wrong movie. for the wrong live adaptation. this LA literally destroy our beloved kim dokja's character as a reader, as a person who really really love TWSA, as a person who make the whole novel as his only string to live, as a person who said that yoo joonghyuk is his father figure, a brother, and his bestfriend. but what did this movie do? alter kdj's character COMPLETELY. they make kdj hate TWSA? tf? and they make kdj one of the bully??? TF IS THAT?! kdj is a victim through and through. and thats not all. this movie also alter most of the character. yoo sangah (why tf is she a healer? she's a badass), yoo joonghyuk (my lovely protagonist became side character??? tf is wrong with this movie?), jung heewon (she is a SA victim in a novel and this movie seriously remove that???), and i think many many more.

"you should be grateful this story got a chance fir live action at all" WELL I HOPE NOT. you see, we, as a reader of Omniscient Readers Viewpoint, really really treasure the original work - the novel - because of many many things and for me one of it is because how relatable kdj's character as a reader of TWSA, to us, reader of ORV. kim dokja DID NOT make all those 49/51 sacrifice just for his story to be told like this

What were they doing?

I don’t think they know the novel or the manga. I don’t think they know anything. I think they just wanted to make a fantasy and hard hitting action movie, but didn’t think they would get enough money for that so they went ahead and use just characters they already know we’re famous and decided to just change up their whole story to fit on what they wanted because they’re so ignorant and egotistic that they think whatever they give the fans of the novel and original pieces we will love it even when none of it had anything close to the novel, not only that they make them use guns, even though that was never or barely ever brought up in the novel they change the whole character of a woman into a healer, even though her whole storyline is showing how powerful how strong how amazing she was, and all she got reduced to in the movie was a healer and they made one of them more very important and very focused on character a background character even though he’s very major to the story and with almost without him, there wouldn’t be a story, and they decided to reduce him to just another person in the background and with the main character, they decided that his whole backstory of how he acts his trauma and all of that was an important enough not to change. They completely ruined his character they ruined why he was still alive they ruined what traumas he had in his past they ruined the way he acted in relationships to the other characters overall this deserves not even a one, not even a -5 I think the actors were fine. They were pretty they were handsome except they didn’t go along with the image the novel put out to those characters while this isn’t a hate to any of the actors. It’s way more hate to the directors and the people who made this because they clearly didn’t know what they were doing I hope you just don’t waste any time on this and go read the novel go support actual creator who made sure they characters were amazing in their novel.

I like the way it shone✨

To be completely honest, I personally love this movie. Despite all the criticisms it received right after releasing the trailer. The CGI is very well constructed, such as the monsters, the backdrops, and when they use their skills. I may feel this way because I haven't read the novel or the webtoon, but even if I had, I wouldn't say this adaptation is any worse. Certain points include how much effort the crew has put into this project.

For such a fantasy-packed, well-written source material to turn into something visually believable isn't an easy feat. The whole time watching ORV, I felt like I was literally drawn into their world as a bystander, watching everything unfold; how they tear each other apart due to greed, how people became the actual 'monsters' in the world when faced with life-and-death situations, and how there's still hope in humanity as long as we change...one after another. The CGIs and the ensemble cast's brilliant acting made this all happen.

Talking about acting, I would give my utmost praise to all the cast members, especially our adorable Lee Gil Young and the steadfast Jung Hui Won. Oh, and not to forget our soldier guy, Lee Hyeon Seong~ Na Na did an exceptionally great job here! Her action choreography is top-notch! Additionally, our little Gil Young is so cute whenever he does that pose to call forth the insects~ XD

Another unpopular opinion of mine would be about Pil, the Goblin. He's a cute chap in my point of view. He's the "cute, but can k!ll" type of existence. His 'cooperation' (kind of) with Kim Dok Ja was interesting, and I love him getting confused whenever Dok Ja mentions something that the new 'players' aren't supposed to know. He could become a good partner lol XD

My only dissatisfaction is that there were so many unanswered questions for this movie, and although it wrapped well, I hope there will be a continuation. The open ending has hinted at new possibilities, which could take an intriguing turn (hopefully) in the future. However, I doubt there will be one with how the reactions were.. :'D It's quite sad though...

Please know that the movie is NOTHING like the actual material

Know that I am not attacking anyone, I am just saying that as an adaptation it is bad. An adaptation should be as true to the original as it can be (reason for why it is an adaptation). That is not what this is. It has gutted what Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is and has stuffed its insides with straw.

ORV is supposed to be about being a love letter to readers and to the novel medium. The movie has taken out many details that lessen the dimension of characters or outright rewrites their character. Yoo Sangah is a woman who flips what it means to be a good female character. She can be both a kind person and someone who will not hesitate to put her foot down. She is on the subway because her manager is creepy and wants to drive her home, so he steals her bike that she takes to get to work to try and make that happen. She is constantly harassed for being a beautiful woman and constantly under minded for being a woman. Jung Heewon was never mentioned in Dokja's novel and he was surprised to find out that an extra turned out to be as powerful as she is. The reason why she is traumatized when Dokja finds her is because she was nearly raped by another group of survivors. Kim Dokja would not bully someone to try and avoid being bullied himself. He is always at the bottom of the school social rank because his mother published a book on how she killed her abusive husband, Kim Dokja is known in the school as a "murderer's son". Dokja's mother is not sick or a single mom, she was married to an abusive man and killed him in retaliation and was taken to prison because of it. Dokja clings onto the novel because he literally had no one on his side, he would kill himself if it wasn't for that novel. That is also why he would NEVER badmouth the author of the novel. Just please understand that the hate for the movie, THE MOVIE AND DIRECTOR (not actors, they were just doing their jobs), is warranted from ORV fans because this movie is barely close to replicating the original novel.

Don't bother

I was really disappointed. Even when people thought the cast didn't fit the characters, i thought they'd manage to pull it off somehow. But atp this isn't the actors fault at all.
Why even call it ORV adaptaion after changing it that much? Characters become what they are because of the things they go through in their lives. When you remove these stuff, what even becomes of these characters? They felt empty and I'm a person who read the webtoon adaptation not even the novel.

Completely Horrible

The live-action adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, released as Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, is an unfortunate example of how a complex, beloved narrative can be reduced to something shallow and commercial. Despite the high production budget and a cast filled with recognizable names, the film lacks the emotional weight, narrative structure, and character depth that made the original work resonate with its global audience.

The most glaring issue lies in the storyline. Instead of faithfully adapting the layered plot of the web novel—which explores trauma, survival, and moral ambiguity—the film simplifies the narrative into a generic survival fantasy. Critical concepts such as the "Omniscient Reader’s viewpoint," the bookmark ability, and the intricate progression of the scenarios are either completely removed or barely acknowledged. As a result, the film feels rushed, disjointed, and emotionally disconnected. Major arcs are skipped, key character relationships are underdeveloped, and the plot concludes at an arbitrary point that offers neither closure nor intrigue.

Characterization suffers heavily as well. Kim Dokja, who in the original is deeply introspective, morally gray, and defined by his loneliness, is portrayed here as a one-dimensional protagonist with little to no internal conflict. Ahn Hyo‑seop gives a competent performance but lacks the intensity and subtle complexity the role demands. Lee Min‑ho, cast as Yoo Joonghyuk, brings star power but fails to embody the cold, emotionally damaged regressor. His portrayal feels too refined, lacking the hardened edge and unpredictability of Joonghyuk’s character. Jisoo’s casting as Lee Jihye is also misaligned; she does not convincingly portray the reckless, wounded energy of a traumatized teenager. Though some actors like Chae Soo‑bin and Nana appear more fitting, their limited screen time prevents them from making any real impact.

Visually, the film tries to impress with CGI-heavy scenes and high-stakes scenarios, but the direction lacks cohesion. The pacing is uneven, with key moments feeling rushed or emotionally flat. The worldbuilding—an essential part of ORV is almost nonexistent. The scenarios don’t feel dangerous or immersive; instead, they come off as disconnected action set-pieces. The system UI, the dokkaebi, and the overall atmosphere feel more like visual props than parts of a lived-in world.

What makes this adaptation particularly disappointing is how it strips away everything that made the original work meaningful. The philosophical reflections, the deconstruction of narrative roles, the complicated emotional bonds, and the slow, painful evolution of Kim Dokja—all of it is discarded in favor of a mainstream-friendly fantasy plot with famous faces and fast pacing. It feels less like an adaptation and more like a shallow reimagining designed to be consumed quickly and forgotten just as fast.

For fans of the original story, this adaptation is difficult to recommend. It misses the core message, the emotional highs, and the quiet devastation that defined Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. For newcomers, it offers little more than surface-level storytelling and forgettable character arcs. It is, at best, a missed opportunity and at worst, a hollow shell of a story that deserved much more care.

Highly recommend it!

I'm writing this as someone who hasn't read the novel or manhwa. Besides that, I also didn't have high expectations because many people said this wasn't recommended. But honestly, when I watched this movie, I was swept away by the plot and the amazing CG. My friend who had read and knew the storyline was also fascinated by the CG. So overall, I'm satisfied with everything and don't regret watching this. Maybe after this, I'll read the manhwa or novel to delve deeper into the story of this manhwa.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TO WATCH IT!

Better to take down this shit, borrowing popular novel and manhwa only to milking money from the fans and TOTALLY RUINING the story, TOTALLY WRECKED the plot and FULLY TRASHING the importance of the hardwork of author and those fans who makes this novel and manhwa POPULAR before it gets 'ADAPTED'. It gets adapted cz of that novel and manhwa fans who makes this story popular, but those wench out of nowhere pretending to 'ADAPTING' but make their own story borrowing the title, even the actors didn't touch that novel to deepen their character is such a fuckazz move. What a TRASH.

This was entertaining but don't watch if you have read webtoon you will not like this.

I'm coming into this film purely from knowing nothing of its source material, I have not read the manhwa so that's why I'm saying I enjoyed the ride. The plot is familiar one , we've all watched similar stories. Humans in our deeply flawed state used as amusement for a higher power in this case a superior alien race. Pitting humans against each other in a game of survival, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. It was wise of them to make sure it wasn't too gory therefore allowing children to watch this. Entertainment wise, I was entertained without going much deeper then that, its a 'in the moment' kind of thrill fairly forgettable beyond that. To really excel you have to make us 'give a shit' basically about the characters, but this film is too busy setting up this new world and the rules within it that it kinda fails miserably in that department. As entertainment, its awesome despite some cheaper CGI it is chock full of Korean celebs but I'm not sure its enough to save it, especially as its geared towards a sequel if not a series. Fans of the webtoon might have some very strong opinions about that, probably not the wisest choice to completely piss off your ready audience (beyond fans of the plethora of actors) you had that were dying to see their beloved book come to life. We'll see I guess if it makes enough money to warrant another film.

'NOT A READER' REVIEW!

Minority viewer here who liked it :D

I went in with no knowledge of the webtoon and I actually liked the plot! And the fighting was pretty cool, the cgi was decent enough to me (except the rat monsters lmao they do look like from a game). All of Dokja's companion (yes even the girls!) were usefull as hell.

I can kinda understand why others hate it, which maybe because of them changing the part where Dokja was supposed to get a Fatal Block power in the webtoon but they removed it in the movie, the plot changed at this point (based on my friend's words). Tbh i think they did so as to end the movie in a 'better' way than introducing this Skill of Dokja.

Overall I like it and I might even try to read the webtoon :DD
