Repeat after me: you can't say the drama is good just because the main actor is Lee Min Ho.

Just because your favorite actor is Lee Min Ho, who, spoiler alert, is a bit overrated, you can’t say the drama is good, that the cast is fantastic, or anything like that. You give a bad impression of the drama, which is frankly boring and nonsense.. What story are we watching? Yes, it’s just a drama, but logically, how does an astronaut bring a gun with them?
Also, do you really find it fascinating how someone looks admiringly at two flies mating?
how can a civilian, a space tourist, even think about bringing something undeclared onto a space station, really bro, are you serious?

Disappointment

It was totally a disappointment. It started well and the plot was fine. The shots were really wprth to watch but final 2 episode was totally a disappointment! I thpught the scriptwriters get in fight with producer and get their revenge with final 2 episode. The hero was totally empty handed by the end just because of all other peoples greed. Very humanly insticts shown as he was the wrong and all others were sp honorable people. Every one who mafe him wrong get the happiness and he get (ok here is the spoiler) a dead lover, a motherşess child whom he can’t even be shure he can achive to make survive and permanent paralysis. All the mission he takes for his doctor patient was gone to garbage and rich become more rich even they made the hero suffer just for their ego. So it was totally a disaster! I waited for this drama and had very big expectaons but at the end I just said what have I watched? I would even accept a duperficial ending like a mirical but what I get is wasted tüme by the end. Sorry :(

Do not waste your time - disappointing

I was with high expectations about this show, with Lee Min Ho and a star cast but the story just doesn’t make any sense, the characters were poorly developed. The exaggerated caricature of rich men like MZ chairman and Kang was annoying.
And the contradictions in the script were hard to accept: they struggled to send a ship to rescue the main couple in the middle of the show but in the end they were able to go and come back so easily!
It is my first time writing a review here but I am so disappointed that I had to do it! Unfortunately, a bad review.

Just ask the stars

Once again I ended watching another K-drama that got really poor reviews. It has become a pattern to follow my own way and watch this k-drama from begin until the end. Therefore thank you, Of course it's all about a question of taste, some will hate this drama and others will like it as I did.
Concerning the entertainment content, I did really enjoy the story from the first till the last episode. It has an original concept and that makes it really interesting to watch.
You can expect action, you can expect drama, good acting performances and at last but not the least it has nice music too.
In other words, forget the reviews and enjoy the ride.

THIS DRAMA IS AWFUL ❌❌??

IT IS NOT WORTH WATCHING !! The plot is awful and the principles they promote are shocking !!! They put their fame, money and rules above people life’s and other insane things that you can even believe !!!! Don’t see it with anything! Not worth it at all !!!! Also they constantly use inappropriate vocabulary which is not common in Korean series ! From all sides it is wretched and unacceptable!!!!
The only interesting point was in the beginning where he introduced us various things about space, but NO, please don’t see that !!!

An Underrated drama overshadowed by unfair criticism

From the very first episode, When the Stars Gossip faced an overwhelming wave of negativity, and unfortunately, it never quite recovered. It seems that once a drama gets labeled in a certain way, the criticism only snowballs from there. With every new episode, people nitpicked relentlessly, dragging the drama down until it hit rock-bottom ratings.

I understand that expectations were sky-high, especially with such a star-studded cast, particularly the male lead, who drew much anticipation. However, disappointment shouldn’t automatically translate into hate. A significant portion of the backlash stemmed from superficial reasons, such as the perception that the female lead looked older than the male lead. While I acknowledge that this might not have been what some viewers envisioned, I hardly think it’s a justifiable reason to completely dismiss the drama.

Despite its historically low rating of 6.6, I decided to give it a fair chance—and I’m glad I did. It turned out to be an enjoyable adventure, far from the disaster it was made out to be. While I wouldn’t call it the best drama I’ve ever watched, I genuinely appreciated the storyline, the plot development, and the overall acting. The chemistry between the leads worked well for me, and the supposed “age gap issue” didn’t feel distracting at all.

If you’re hesitant about watching this drama due to the harsh criticism, I’d say give it a shot and judge for yourself. You might just find it to be an unexpectedly delightful journey among the stars.

The best actors in one project ?

I really am enjoying this drama, the fact that many of the best actors in Korean entertainment are together in this project is awesome! Gong hyo Jin is my forever girl crush and every drama she does are always my favorite. Lee min how is giving us something refreshing and I like this side of him we don't see very often. The quality of this drama is amazing and the script is fun and interesting. It is unique and it is the only type of romance I would watch because there is a actual solid story and not just two boring beings kissing. My favorite character is Eve, she is the intellectual queen I needed. Life goals ngl! Some people are really hating this drama for no valuable reason. People that hate this drama can't even appreciate the little things in life that's why I can't blame them. It takes time to love and appreciate life, you will understand when you are being loved appropriately.

IDK WHY YOU ALL HATE THIS DRAMA

Thin is my first review ever so don’t judge pls.

So i find that people on mdl didn’t watch the whole show and written their reviews only on a half of the drama. Which i find stupid bcs you have to see the whole series to say something.

I never write reviews bcs i never read one, I never consider someone’s opinion until i watch it myself. But with this drama I have to write one so some people don’t get false expectations about it.

It is FANTASY AND SCI-FI drama what did you expect? Seeing realistic scenarios? This kdrama talks a lot about birth and everyone’s importance to live. Importance of life. We should consider one thing, that korea now has the lowest birth rate, maybe they are trying to make that up with this kdrama? Give a little more enthusiasm to Korean people to give birth? Idk thats just my assumption, don’t take this seriously.

Anyway i see people saying that this kdrama says to people that abortion is good and some assumes that on the contrary it says that it is bad. I personally didn’t see this message here. Yas Eve was not right about throwing away those morulas, but think differently, its a law that says they can’t do such things in a space. From the beginning they were risking everything and they should have been ready that this idea will not be successful. Eve did right thing. And even with the last morula she did right. Maybe she could have tried and saved that last morula but why would you make 4 people happy to make 15 or even more people sad ? Done you think so? Also, I even think that giving birth to that baby was mistake, bcs for me mum who is giving birth is more important than the baby. Call me cruel, arrogant but that’s my opinion. Here we are in more fantasy than ever, this girl will be living in a space like what? 20 years? 30? Will she even be able to live on earth? But yeah they did this to make this drama more fascinating, to have more wow affect, which worked and i applaud them.

About Eve, her death was the only realistic thing in this kdrama. Well they could have saved her, but i guess the screenwriter decided to break our hearts, which is also okey. Not everything has to and with happy ending. I don’t know what should have been better her living or her dying, ether way it is unrealistic to me. So I am okay with this ending.

I am so sad that people didn’t see the potential in this kdrama. It is very beautiful, interesting, entertaining and actors played their roles wonderfully! For me main leads had a good chemistry and thay suited very well. For me this kdrama is not a wasted potential and lost money. This is just not for everyone. Not for this unworthy audience.

Someone who is saying that Kong Ryong is a bad guy for cheating on Go Eun, well he did cheat but his emotions towards her was not love, just liking her. He fell in love with Eve and that’s when he understood what is love.

For the last. I recommend this kdrama to everyone who understands what is fantasy and Sci-Fi, someone who is okey to see something so fantastic and absurd and don’t ask questions. Those who have too much question and are not ready to be left without explanation and answers don’t watch it, you will not like it. If you are planning to watch this drama don’t think to much about laws, giving birth, abortion and ect. As this kdrama says everything what is alive has a will to live but it is not always their choice to live. Don’t take this kdrama too serious, just enjoy watching it.

The soundtrack has to be mentioned first. It's beautiful and sets the mood perfectly!

With the exception of some "pro-life" moments this was an exciting and compelling story that made me bawl my eyes out in the end. Being a mother myself I really felt it.

My problem was, as i mentioned, the "pro-life" stuff. It got really uncomfortable when someone is called a murderer for disposing cells. What did the writers want with that? I had some trouble with the character after that, but thankfully he changed.

I've heard some people have difficulties understanding the ending. I thought it was very clear. Big spoiler! Gong Ryong has grown old and looks out over the ocean. Running towards him is his grandchild and the person taking his hand is his daughter, that made it back to earth with him after they found a way for her to survive gravity and everything else.

One time watch for its uniqueness

I don't feel this drama deserves all the hate I see in the review section.

There are people who think it's ridiculous to take the lives of fruit flies and mice seriously, but in this drama it shows the perspective of scientists who experiment on them in space, so I don't see why it should be considered silly.

I can't imagine the budgeting involved in showing an authentic feel of life inside a space station, astronauts space walk, the constant floating around etc. They have managed to give an idea the kind of daily worries, conversations, problems and risks involved in this field. Got more awareness on how life in space affects a human body and how much they have to suffer to acclimatize back in gravity! And the visuals of space are awe inspiring and fascinating! How can anyone get tired of space and call it boring wallpaper and screensaver material is beyond me.

If you watch this drama with an open mind and curiosity, there are many little things to appreciate and empathise. Just for the refreshing new visuals and a completely different drama, I give this an 8!

For the negative -
To start with the chemistry between the leads felt very lacking, kind of forced, happening in too short a timeframe to be believable.

The ML's character is full of contradictions - he doesn't mind disobeying international ethical laws to attempt human IVF in space, (what if it creates a deformed, weak child whose daily life is hell) doesn't mind sleeping with a rich lady to further his dreams of a space research hospital, cheats on her in space, breaks up over a phone call. And yet he is so great with patients, goes to any lengths to help them realise their dreams to become parents, operates on a rat to save its life, cries over the disposal of the morula.

The FL was shown as a professional woman, someone who managed to realize her dream of being a commander in space, despite being abandoned as a baby. But the final 2 episodes didn't do her character justice. Simply because she got pregnant, she is suddenly terrified of space travel and they abort the idea to return her to earth because her BP is too high! And she who should know all the risks and uncertainties of carrying a baby to term in space - even rat babies didn't make it - she still risked her life and the ML going blind and paralysed, to try anyway. Because of her own abandonment issues and the death of the morula cells! Serves her right to die of pelvic fracture and internal bleeding, for her emotional and illogic decision. The show was moving so slowly but suddenly once she dies there is a time jump of a year - we don't even get to mourn the loss of her life! All she got to be in the end was a birth machine for a child she risked to bring into the universe, knowing full well it would be delivered in a hostile environment, with heart and bone density issues!

It would have made more sense for them to come back to earth saying now they know conception is possible in space, and some day in future when science is advanced enough, a healthy baby is going to be born in space, but now is not the time for it, and they can't irresponsibly risk their lives to birth a defective infact with an uncertain and medically difficult future. It would have been a more ethical decision saving more lives.

The side stories felt more like fillers - lottery ticket, one sided feelings and betrayals, the typical chaebol grandpa, the 3 mothers.. Eve's mother arc was totally unnecessary and did nothing to help anyone, and left hanging. All in all, although the show had many plot holes and illogical happenings, it had an entertainment value as it was different from all others. I don't regret watching it.

wasted potential

I honestly feel like I wasted my time watching all 10 episodes. Initially, I thought it had potential since space and astronaut stories feel relatively fresh, but it ended up being an over-the-top drama despite having big-name actors. Surprisingly, I found the minor characters more engaging than the leads. The constant stream of issues felt forced—like a "space tourist" freely wandering around the spacecraft, doing whatever he wanted. Then there was the whole bizarre subplot about fertilizing an egg cell in space, along with the cringey "romance" between the main characters. I could go on and on, but, anyway, this drama just isn’t for me.

Totally new K Drama Genre

UPDATE: I watched till the end. I cried for hours not because of the ending but because the acting was amazing and touching. LMH convinced me as a mature man, one of his best actings at the end of the show. GHJ is anyway always great. However, the story became even more confusing, too many sidelines and loose ends. And the love story could have been better told at the end. Overall, no reason to hate this show, just ignore or like it.

I also was confused by the first episodes and did not like the story, a lot about space, fertilisations. Now I understand that it was a prelude. It is about love, commitment and humanity. For a K-drama fan, the beginning was very new, therefore, somehow senseless. From Ep 8, the rhythm of K-dramas takes over and you can enjoy the romance. The love story is even stronger because of the beginning, the prelude. I watched the last few episodes several times because the dialogues are beautiful and I could focus on the actors. It is a wonderful love story, hopefully till the final episodes.
