PERFECTION.

Almost everything about this show was perfect. It has to be one of the most visually beautiful shows i've seen. The slow burn of the ML and FL getting together was worth it.

Though there were wayyy too many eps, i NEVER felt like i was going to drop the show. The script, the aesthetics, and the directing were all beautiful.

Her taking the place of the real jiang li showed her pure dedication to get revenge on her ex-lover, but also for jiang li and those who did her bad.

Fang fei was able to do everything she put her mind to it, even if that meant asking Duke su for help. Which eventually led to their beautiful relationship.

Idk why but when tong died, i cried so hard, her death was very pitiful and sad, that was all jiang li knew, and though now the two could reunite, fang fei who was now jiang li, only had tong to trust and know about who she really was, and now she was dead forever.

Epic

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with The Double. This drama had me so hooked that I finished all 40 episodes in just two days—without a wink of sleep 😩. That’s how engaging it was! The side characters absolutely held their own and did an amazing job 👌🏿👏🏿. But the main leads? Good lord 😳—they carried the entire drama on their shoulders. The chemistry, the emotions, the playful flirting, the wit… everything about their dynamic was perfection. They embodied their roles so well that I couldn’t look away. Now, all I want is to see them together again, whether in a costume drama or a modern one—I don’t even care. They’re just that amazing as a pair.

The Art of Walking In Slow Motion and Staring Into The Camera

I'm keeping my review short as I haven't finished watching this yet and I feel like it's getting a bit repetitive at the 30 episode mark. But I will say that I'm getting tired of the constant slow motion walking scenes. Almost every single character gets a slow motion cat walk, even the servants, and especially the ML, Duke Su gets one almost every time. Then there's the repetitive looks into the camera as if the characters are staring at each other. And then the slow mo walk and then the look at each other and then into the camera, and then the slow mo walk...

The storyline started off great but like I mentioned before, it's now feeling repetitive. By 30 episodes in, I was hoping to see more development on the relationship between the two leads but now there are less than 8 episodes for me to watch and nothing solid between these two yet. Just a lot of flirting with word play. The villains get skinship but the main leads... on ep 34 they censor the kiss? Wtf?

Justice is Satisfying

The show starts with FL lying in bed with a man she thought was her husband but found that he wasnt. She was later caught by her in laws for adultery, and later saved by her husband. He took her away which she thought was to safety, but instead he brought her to her grave. He cracked her head with the shovel and buried her alive. Driven by the will to survive, she dug her way out and passed out by the river, and later saved by a lady foraging fruits in the forest. This lady, Jiang Li, promised to come back with food and medicine for the injuries, however she was caught while trying to sneak out of the residence during the night and was punished with flogging instead. FL found her way to this residence, sneaked in and got in time before Jiang Li died, where she managed to express her grievances of her life, telling a sad story of being slandered and abandoned by her own family for ten years since she was 8yo. FL decided to take revenge for Jiang Li and get to the bottom of her own betrayal, so she went back to capital using Jing Li’s identity solely relying on her wits and intelligence. Along the way, she met with Duke of Su, an investigator for the emperor, and they both began a relationship by using each other for their own goals but later fell in love. The show is one of those of conspiracy and court political rife than action packed. It’s like Joy of Life minus all the actions. But gotta say Joy of Life’s politics is of higher tier.

I had to admit the storyline is solid and engaging and the casts’ performance are powerful but some scenes are quite pushover. I’ve been watching shows with physically strong FLs back to back, so its refreshing to watch one with FL who isnt able to wield a weapon and is not physically strong, but extremely shrewd and witty instead. I liked her character very much, except how easily she falls in love.

I think the actress playing the FL is rather ordinary looking, so it’s definitely unconvincing to see people praising how exceptionally beautiful she is throughout the show. She also doesnt look young (FL was supposed to be 18 at the beginning of the show, and maybe around 20ish at the end), hence it kinda killed the vibe, like how Zhang Ziyi looked ridiculous playing a 16yo in The Rebel Princess. I also think that the real Jiang Li and even Tong’er are much more beautiful than her, and of course much like a teenager than FL. Wait, come to think of it, the rest of female supporting cast like Jiang Ruiyao, Liu Xu, or even Ye Jia-er are much prettier than her. It’s rather funny on the homecoming arc where Tong’er disembarked from the carriage and people commented how ordinary she looks, and then suddenly when FL disembarks, people suddenly praised what a beauty she is. It’s one thing if they had been dressed differently, Jiang Li being the noble’s daughter would be dressed in better clothes, but they were both still in the hall’s uniform which is ordinary. Had them both been standing side by side, i wouldve thought Tong’er was the higher born and FL being the maid. Her crooked smile is also weird-looking. Anyway, the actress has the looks of 30ish than late teen, so yeah her looks doesnt really fit the role, but her performance is undeniably top notch.

As for costume, the dresses are okay and not too flamboyant, but the pearl/bead make up is really distracting, i can handle the cheekbone and forehead adornment, but those on the dimple is really overdoing it. They look so weird, like some alien in Star Wars movie.

And the slow-mos!!! Theyve got tonnes of those. I keep fast forwarding those moments and still wont miss any scene. It was like watching sinetron instead of cdrama. The slow-mos truly irked me throughout the show.

Maybe romance is not my kind of genre, but the main leads’ proximity scenes are pretty cringy and blerghhh. She just got ‘killed’ by the love of her life, whom she had sacrificed everything for, and she suddenly found herself falling for the duke? What kind of bull is this? Somebody with that kind of trauma would normally take years to get over it and even then theyd scrutinize love like none other. How can she fall that easily for this notorious and ruthless duke just because he occasionally saves and helps her? And even if he loves her deeply, would it really be that easy to recover from her own trauma and grab this rebound lover? It’s one thing if she had just got dumped by her lover, she literally got dumped and buried alive by her own husband whom she left her family for, whoever can recover that fast from that kind of betrayal? If she had not been so much in love with her husband, or had been mistreated or it was an arranged marriage, i wouldve believed she’d fall that quickly for the duke, but with her current background on love betrayal, it’s ridiculous and too far-fetched especially with someone of the duke’s character, a shrewd and ruthless man who wont bat an eye to abandon his pawns to reach the goal. The moments when she smiles at him and laments her own feelings during this proximity scenes are really unconvincing. Gross even, thinking how badly she was betrayed then and then suddenly she’s falling for this duke. Makes her look rather cheap and clingy for men. It took awhile for me to realize why i didnt like the pair - they had zero chemistry! Somehow I fail to feel the spark. I mean, i didnt quite like Chang Yuqing character from Fighting for Love because he was an antihero, but i totally ship Changyuqing-FL pair. It’s nonexistent here. And I actually liked Duke of Su because his character is interesting, but i cant get myself to like his pairing with FL. Something is just off somewhere. Maybe the timing wasnt right. If this had happened years after she was betrayed, maybe it’s acceptable. Problem is it’s just been a few months after. It wouldve been believable if she rejected his advances earlier on and only realized she had fallen in love with him at the end of the show, after going through thick and thin together then only it’s easier to swallow. To fall in love so early on just doesnt make sense. And that scene when they were saving her father’s men from the mine, it’s so irritating how they keep staring at each other while other people are fighting off the enemy for their lives around them. Like seriously? U cant pick another moment for that really? Many of these proximinity and staring scenes are real cringe-worthy. And lets not mention the so called flirty conversations between them. Theyre too awkward and painful to watch. Too bad cuz i really liked this Duke of Su, but I just cant ship him being with FL. It’s weird to see two leads whom I like and yet it’s painful to watch them flirting with each other.

It’s great to see the one playing the emperor again here. The first time I saw him was in A Journey to Love as regent, Prince of Danyang and he somehow caught my attention despite the small role. So i’m kinda excited to see him again on this show as emperor. He has a likable face. And I also really like Duke of Su’s bodyguards Lu Ji and Wen Ji. Lu Ji is the silent one who speaks only when necessary, while Wen Ji is the goofy and rather naiive one who keeps getting punished by their master cuz he’s always saying the wrong things. Lu Ji reminded me of Qian Zhao from A Journey to Love. His face and personality really resembles Qian Zhao.

The most memorable and electrifying scene is the striking of the Admonishment Drum. It’s an extremely moving scene when the rest of Huai villagers take turns to strike it after FL did, all to redress the wrongfully accused Magistrate Xue capital punishment. The retrial of Magistrate Xue’s case in front of the emperor is also epic and moving. I must say other than how badly the love story between the main leads look, i totally love most of the other aspects of the show.

Although i think they really pushed ridiculousness to its limits with the last episode where FL suddenly becomes the kingmaker by shooting the arrow which she had only ONE shot of practice before. Utter ridiculous.

Opening and ending themesongs are too sad, the beat is too slow and didnt catch my attention. However the music scores played by Jiang Ruoyao and Jiang Li during the entrance exam are truly captivating.

It’s a very good show, but I dont think it has any rewatch value to me. Probably because i’m more of an action packed show kinda fan. I would totally recommend it though because the plot is great. I had to give more stars on the rewatch value so not to drag down the overall rating, but honestly I wont be rewatching this. Good story nonetheless and it gives a pure satisfying feeling at perfect retribution and revenge.

An illogical story and a little bit cliché!

I never thought my first review would be about an extremely infuriating drama! I cannot understand why I am the only one who sees everything wrong with this drama. The heroine’s decision is wrong and exploitative. How does meeting someone for just a few hours give you the right to impersonate her and take everything she had after her death? It makes no sense at all how the deceased girl’s maid would willingly go along with this and allow a stranger to impersonate her mistress as if it were the right thing to do. Even the excuse they gave was illogical. I can’t understand it; it’s complete nonsense.

The ML is the only thing keeping me watching this drama. Also, the atmosphere in general is beautiful, and the family crisis is my favorite type, lol.

Is no one going to talk about this?

I got a lot of recommendations for the double, and I tried, dropping, retrying, only to finally decide to drop the show, which is such a shame because I really want to like the show. It has all the elements that I usually would love in a show: smart FL, intrigues, i even like ML's actor and yanxi palace. I think both actors are amazing in their own rights. Even the directing style was interesting so I really wanted to like it.. however:

1. the actor WJY in this show is the wrong casting. She is pretty, but is far too old for the role, especially when her supposed fake parents looks like her sister and brother, and ML looks like he's in his early 20s. She is supposed to be younger than ML and same age as Tong er and the dead lady she replaced. This jarred me out of the show many times, especially because of the 2nd point.

2. Make up. Yes! I'd never thought that i'd ever drop a show because of their make up, and yet here we are. The make staff seems to put thick and lighter shade make up on the actors but forget about the neck. They all look like theyre wearing white masks.

3. The scene when tong er came out of the carriage and ppl booed her for being plain and unsophisticated, and then FL came out and supposedly blew people away. It was so weird because the actor playing tong er, her fake mom and even the dead lady she replaced was all very pretty and somewhat outshined her. None of her "woah so pretty" moment worked, it even jarred me out of the show and out of the suspension of disbelief that shes 20.

In the end, I couldn't help but dropped the show at eps 3, but some day perhaps I will give it a try because I really do like the novel.

Is the actress who plays Ruoyao really the girl from Only For Love? She doesn’t look like her. I’ve gone back to watch OFL for reference and she just doesn’t look like her.
Anyways, I was just wondering bc it’s bugging me, lol.
Well, I’m half way through of half of the drama as it releases and I’m liking it. Omg…Joe’s’ villainess character was hard for me to watch bc I’m so used to her lovey cute characters but I know those were back in the days, lol. I’m actually happy to see her change up and take on this role…which she did really good bc I hated her character😅

The Double é, com certeza, um dos melhores c-dramas de 2024

No inicio, quando ouvir falar desse drama, fiquei bastante receosa para assistir, ele ainda estava em lançamento e, mesmo com todos os elogios, o medo de ser uma decepção se mantinha em mim. Decide dar uma chance quando ele já estava sendo finalizado e não me arrependi nem um pouco.

A jornada da protagonista é realmente emocionante desde o começo, quando o marido a enterra viva, quando ela conhece as garotas que a salvam. Ela consegue se manter forte com sua sede de vingança e esperança para que a justiça seja feita com todas as pessoas que sofreram a sua volta. É completamente coerente e sabe exatamente como agir para conseguir atingir seu objetivo, mesmo que algo dê errado, ela consegue pensar em algo para resolver a situação, sempre um passo a frente do seu inimigo. A construção do ML foi realmente interessante, porque apesar de ele ter uma parte individual da sua vida, ela está lá mais para ser o apoio que a protagonista precisa. E a FL tem seus movimentos de vingança atrelados no ML, o que deixa tudo bem interessante.
As atuações são impressionantes, conseguiram transmitir toda dor, sofrimento, alegria, raiva e carinho em cada situação. A junção da atuação e as trilha sonora fez com que o público pudesse sentir a realidade da história e fazer com que se mergulhasse mais no enredo, fazendo com que se aproveitasse cada minuto de cada episódio.

Troppa carne al fuoco non si cuoce bene

Adattato dal romanzo cinese "Marriage of the Di Daughter", The Double ha come protagonisti Wu Jinyan e Wang Xingyue; molti hanno scritto che non hanno trovato nulla da ridire sulla loro differenza di età (lei 31 , lui 22). Io, personalmente, non l’ho trovata problematica ma nemmeno una scelta troppo azzeccata; negli episodi centrali ho percepito la differenza di età che stride, anche perché la FL la sua età la dimostra tutta a causa di un fascino maturo e doveva interpretare la parte di una 18 enne… . L’attore è stato molto aiutato per il ruolo, che è tagliato su di sé, e grazie ad una voce molto profonda e matura che mi ha fatto pensare che potesse essere stato doppiato e invece a 22 anni, questo giovane uomo, ha un timbro molto caldo e basso che smussa un po’ la loro differenza.
Bisogna accostarsi al lavoro abbandonando ogni pretesa logica perché molte soluzioni sono davvero improbabili (quella di cambiare identità mantenendo lo stesso volto, la stessa voce, postura e altezza per esempio, con moltissime persone che ti conoscono, tutte che credono che sia una somiglianza, persino tuo marito non ti riconosce, questo mi è sembrato davvero assurdo, oppure non rendersi conto al buio delle differenze tra le persone e avere intimità fisica con una piuttosto che un’altra, donne che mentono agli amanti dicendo che hanno perso i loro bambini quando era impossibile dal momento che avevano interrotto i rapporti da tempo, mani con menomazioni che brandiscono la spada come un “ninjia”). Rassegnatevi e seguitelo per quello che è…. un dramma cinese ben realizzato nella fattura, con buone riprese, duelli di sicuro impatto scenico, un tentativo di nemesi e riscatto per sé e la propria famiglia, con un buon (non ottimale) livello di recitazione complessivo (nel complesso, alcuni non hanno brillato).

Mi sono accostata al lavoro dopo aver letto molte recensioni quindi ero preparata su cosa aspettarmi e le aspettative sulla loro liason, da più parti decantata, erano nulle. E menomale, viceversa ne sarei stata parecchio delusa. Consiglio di non aspettarsi molto da questa coppia a livello di relazione e fisicità.
Forse per la differenza d’età e la mentalità censurante cinese volutamente non hanno inserito scene fisiche; ci sono degli avvicinamenti, ci sarà anche qualche bacio ma nulla di eccessivo o coinvolgente, uno non si vedrà nemmeno… .
La loro chimica, che tutti hanno definito alle stelle personalmente non mi è pervenuta… mi rendo conto di quanto sia forte il potere della proiezione e della suggestione.
I due sviluppano senz’altro un’ intesa, dell’affetto, dell’interesse, moooolto lentamente, proprio negli ultimi episodi si concretizzerà il loro legame. Il loro rapporto è interessante perché nasce su altre basi: usarsi a vicenda per raggiungere uno scopo fino a rendersi conto che hanno la stessa destinazione, quindi si alleano, anche perché avevano iniziato a piacersi. È un rapporto molto psicologico, un’intesa mentale che poggia molto sui doppi sensi e sulle metafore per comunicare. Se vi piace questo tipo di rapporto che supera il classico tropo “da nemici ad amanti”, questo è quello che fa per voi perché non iniziano come nemici ma con incuriosita diffidenza.
Tuttavia, l’evoluzione del suo sentimento non è ben spiegata, nel senso che la vedrete passare dall’evitamento alla gelosia in un baleno, non c’è una puntata o delle interazioni che mostrino questo cambiamento di tendenza, questa è una falla (non l’unica del lavoro).
Questa è stata una storia d'amore così lenta, che si è mossa a malapena: hanno fatto credere che si sarebbe vista una vera storia d'amore slow burning ma quello che si è ottenuto è stata una gara di sguardi fissi tra Jiang Li e Duke Su in ogni episodio.

Questo lavoro non ha avuto, almeno personalmente, un ritmo sempre costante. Inizia in un modo, i primi 3 episodi sono meravigliosi e ti catturano totalmente, poi diventa un palace harem, poi quasi una commedia, poi un crime case, poi drammatico sul finale con delle morti non necessarie… gli archi narrativi sono lunghi, ogni 13 episodi c’è un cambio di set e personaggi, con le loro dinamiche . Circa 64 sono i personaggi che si affacciano e interfacciano con i protagonisti, direttamente o indirettamente.
Non sempre gli elementi drammatici e comici sono fusi bene insieme, per me certe scene umoristiche stridono e tolgono intensità al lavoro che ha voluto essere brutalmente crudo e spietato, il livello di crudeltà di alcune scene è superiore a ciò che normalmente vediamo nei cdrama. Troppa carne al fuoco non si cuoce bene!
Così come il cambio di colori, iniziamo con ambientazioni e colori goth, con filtri freddi alla kunning palace per cambiare totalmente filtri e colori due episodi dopo.

Tra i vari personaggi uno che mi è sembrato particolarmente bravo, con un livello davvero buono di recitazione è l’attore che interpreta SHEN YU rong, il marito uxoricida, sono sempre contenta quando i personaggi vengono umanizzati e non mostrati cattivi gratuitamente e lui rende questo dissidio interiore perfettamente. Ama la moglie ma non più di se stesso e questo lo divora lentamente come un tarlo. In tutto il drama renderà questo conflitto interiore superbamente, con lo sguardo, la voce (è uno dei pochissimi attori non doppiati) e le smorfie. E’ un second lead che conquista la scena prendendosi spazio con la sua recitazione solida, matura, espressiva, mettendo in ombra sia il protagonista che la protagonista.
In merito a quest’ultima sono perplessa, nelle prime puntate mi ha trasmesso disperazione, angoscia e un turbamento vivido. E’ stata bravissima, intensa e performante, poi la sua espressività si appiattisce nei primi piani storti in cui accenna un sorriso sempre uguale che mi è venuto a noia.

Nel complesso il doppio è stato un giro a metà, un racconto visivamente forte pieno di zoom in/zoom out drammatici, utilizzo del grandangolo sui primi piani, con molta maestria passando da un piano americano a primo piano e poi primissimo, un medio grandangolo che distorce un po’ il naso per indicare un fiuto maggiore, una migliore capacità di sentire e quindi discernere mentre secondo altri del settore indicherebbe la deformazione in un animale vendicativo, quasi mostruoso: dalla signora più raffinata e virtuosa della Capitale ad un concentrato di rancori e risentimenti .
Un movimento per rendere una nuova identità ed evidenziare la doppiezza dei personaggi ,doppi appunto. Questa cura a livello di riprese l’ho trovata apprezzabile ma non sempre esteticamente calzante.
Ringrazio una mia amica che da tecnico mi da pareri da cui originano confronti istruttivi.

Il fatto che fosse doppiata inoltre le ha tolto molti punti perché uno degli elementi più interessanti che le attribuivo era proprio l’utilizzo della voce e le variazioni di sonorità che rendono perfettamente il variare dell’emotività, invece scopro che uno dei punti più forti della sua recitazione è la sua doppiatrice!
Ho sentito decantare spesso la recitazione della Principessa Wanning, ebbene per me invece è stata l’anello debole di un cast composto da attori migliori. Forse è stata diretta male ma la sua follia è spesso mostrata attraverso uno stile comunicativo cinico-manipolativo-aggressivo e balletti nonsense aggiunti per necessità scenografiche ma che poco mostrano una follia sofferente.
Ci sono davvero molte attrici molto più abili nell’inscenare in modo valido il ruolo della folle disturbata , abitata dai demoni del passato. Basti pensare a Yeon-Jin, la bulla del drama The glory, interpretata da una magnifica Lim-Ji Yeon, o al personaggio di Chenrong Xin Yue, non perfetta ma molto più credibile in lost you forever, o la matrigna del Man lead in Ming Lang.
Paradossalmente è stata un po’ più brava la matrigna della protagonista, dipinta come la classica concubina dei palace harem ma anche qui i cambi espressivi nei primi piani , sempre uguali (finto dispiacere preoccupato-sorriso manipolativo) non le davano complessità e intensità .

Andiamo al lavoro… come scrivevo il drama è complesso, ben fatto , a livello visivo le riprese sono coinvolgenti e immersive, la scenografia è una delle migliori finora viste , tuttavia a livello di narrazione il ritmo incalzante dei primi episodi va scemando negli episodi successivi , a singhiozzo si trascina tra alti e bassi facendomi arrancare e intrattenendo lo spettatore a ritmi alterni. Non aiutano i primi piani di 20 secondi su 3- 4 personaggi che rallentano molto il fluire delle scene.
Nonostante l'inizio avvincente, questo drama perde definitivamente slancio nell'episodio 30. La narrazione si sofferma troppo a lungo sugli archi narrativi più deboli della famiglia Jiang.
Molte soluzioni narrative e scenografiche sono prese in prestito da altri lavori antecedenti ma poiché non so quando sia stato scritto il romanzo, su cui si basa il drama, è difficile stabilire chi ha copiato chi…(love and redemption, the last immortal, who rules the world, Princess Weiyoung, the story of ming lang ).
Il personaggio del Duca Su finisce per non essere sviluppato così bene come Shen Yurong o la principessa Wanning.
Questo revenge drama è iniziato con ottime premesse ma non regge a un attento esame. Eccelle nel mostrare elementi drammatici e angoscia con uno stile scenografico ricco e soddisfacente ma pecca di strafare in alcuni punti con scene assurde che non necessariamente fanno progredire la trama, alcune scopiazzate (il bagno nella tinozza piena di rose mentre duca su combatte a torso nudo sotto la pioggia, la scena di lei araba fenice quando suona il qin è quasi uguale come costumi e poteri a the last immortal).
Per quanto riguarda la vendetta si può considerare raggiunto e sviluppato questo obiettivo che è il "trait d’union "del lavoro? Nì… paradossalmente la vendetta viene raggiunta per caso e col sacrificio altissimo di molti innocenti.
Due cattivi ( non spoilero chi siano) si suicidano (quindi come ottiene la sua vendetta?), lei senza il co-protagonista sarebbe morta già al terzo episodio. Quindi, questo è l’ennesimo drama dove, sebbene lo spettatore venga distratto dallo stile immersivo e dalla bellezza conturbante del man lead, ipocritamente la donna raggiunge la sua vendetta per caso, perché fa parte di un piano di un potente che le da nullaosta, viceversa la protagonista non avrebbe mai raggiunto alcun obiettivo significativo.
Lei ha una doppia identità ma è un lavoro molto psicologico, crudo, spietato e sottile dove quasi ogni personaggio ha una doppia natura e due volti: quello sociale, ipocritamente giusto e retto, e quello reale/oscuro e malvagio, o ambivalente.
Xuan Fang Feng è una donna matura e intelligente con indubbie capacità oratorie che per cavarsela, però, fa affidamento sempre al cognome del finto padre per ottenere benefici per sé, si rivolge sfacciatamente infinite volte al Duca Su per farsi aiutare (trovami un medico per il magistrato, aiutami a liberare i miei uomini, trovami uno che fa le voci, dammi questo, dammi quello, fai quello , fai questo), senza alcuna remora o tatto, quando non lo usa sarà lui a offrirsi spontaneamente in suo aiuto.
Non è tutto… arriverà anche a raccontare per cavarsi dai guai che ha salvato lei stessa quella che in verità è morta per lei, quindi si rivela una donna meschina, ipocrita, manipolativa, utilitarista, forse a seguito del trauma (il rispetto per i morti è solo una grande ipocrisia).
Più volte ho avuto come la sensazione che il furto di identità sia stato in verità una scelta di comodo, egoista, spacciata ipocritamente come tentativo di vendetta anche per la defunta, ok si vendicherà ma sacrificando per il suo interesse anche i "buoni" e farà più volte i suoi interessi, mettendo la vendetta personale davanti a quella dei Jiang, in ordine di priorità.

Alla fine, caro spettatore, scoprirai qualcosa che ti deluderà moltissimo che non rivelo per non spoilerare ma ti sarà chiara in un dialogo illuminante nell’ep 23 tra l’imperatore e il duca e poi ti verrà riproposto in una partita a GO a chiusura dell’Ep. 28.
Quindi son rimasta delusa dall’evoluzione psicologica e da un’assenza di mezzi reali del personaggio.
Per quanto riguarda la storia d’amore sarei stata molto più soddisfatta da un’amicizia solidaristica trai due, considerata anche la loro palese e visibile differenza di età, da un percorso di riscatto con più autonomia e intraprendenza da parte della protagonista che elabora, a livello psicologico, il tradimento dell’amore della sua vita fino a distaccarsene completamente invece di vederla sempre in balìa di un uomo

La componente artistica qui presente è molto buona e di livello medio alto, c’è un profondo e sempre presente richiamo all’arte e alla cultura tradizionale cinese che affascina e accompagna scenograficamente la narrazione (make up, arti marziali, costumi, interni e mobilio, strumenti musicali come il qin, opere teatrali, esorcismi artistici che ricordano i balli con la spada). Bellissimo il trucco con le perle o i costumi del Duca Su, bello anche se scopiazzato l’utilizzo del ventaglio (vedi yang yang e il personaggio di Hei Feng Xi in who rules the world per credere) sempre abbinato al colore delle vesti.

Finale? Va bene così, c’era da aspettarselo che sarebbe stato aperto e sospeso. Il lavoro vuole raccontare solo il percorso, quindi, chiude laddove non serve narrare altro. Più che altro gli ultimi episodi sono un po’ confusi e inutilmente tragici.
C’è uno speciale che ho visto su un canale non ufficiale, dura mi sembra una decina di minuti e accontenta un po’ chi voleva vedere una storia tra di loro, io l’ho trovato divertente ma col drama non c’entra nulla.
