Zomvivor (2025) – Review
The series should’ve been called: “How to Destroy Your Survival Group in Three Easy Steps.”Step one: let your phone alarm go off in the middle of a zombie invasion.
Step two: don’t turn it off or throw it away,
because sentimentality weighs more than instinct.
Step three: run straight toward your friends to share the disaster.
That’s what separates smart tension from self-parody:
here, characters don’t die because of danger,
they die because of the stupidity programmed by the screenwriter.
And the audience, instead of suffering, ends up yelling at the screen:
“Just let her die already, please!”
Then comes the contractual drama:
the virus spreads only when the plot finds it convenient.
When a character is irrelevant, they turn in ten seconds.
But if they’re important, the camera gifts them three minutes
of close-ups, tears, and sad music.
And the flashbacks… oh, the flashbacks.
In a zombie series, how important is it to know the origin?
None.
When the world is falling apart, what defines the story
isn’t why it happened — it’s who survives.
Knowing why zombies exist rarely improves a story.
In fact, it often kills it.
If it’s a virus, it turns into sci-fi.
If it’s an experiment, it becomes a cliché.
If it’s divine punishment, it’s a sermon.
And if it’s “no one knows,” that actually works —
because what matters isn’t the origin,
but how the living react.
Zomvivor brings nothing new
to the already over-saturated zombie catalog.
The story is as shallow as a puddle.
And if you’ve seen too many undead films,
you’ll be bored to death —
because you’ve already seen every one of these scenes before.

i binged all seven episodes, and i must say…
After a two-year wait, Zomvivor is finally here, and it is the kind of horror series that makes you think, not just watch. My late phee would've loved it. She was equally waiting for it.This is a top-tier Thai series with a story (8.5/10) that had me agreeing with the side characters more than the mains. That's a wise & impeccably executed scriptwriting choice using tragic anti-hero flaws on the main characters masterfully.
This is safe to watch with your homophobic family btw, since there are no explicit gay scenes. We all were robbed, but I ain't complaining. Not so much.
Zomvivor teaches us that everyone wants to have their own opinions viewed higher than others, and most people want to be the leader; impatience is an expensive state of mind that ruins everything; love sometimes means holding on, while it means letting go at other times; evil goes unpunished, because the higher-ups are the bad guys; money is the root of all evil, which desperation fuels; and, above all, no human (and zombie) is ever perfect.
The acting (4.5/5) and casting (5/5) on Zomvivor are phenomenal, ranking among the best of Thai BLs in 2025. Every actor showed incredible depth, with only a few of the zombies having noticeable problems (and that's not really necessary to talk about). The music (9.0/10) perfectly complements the chaos, making for an incredibly bingeable experience with a high rewatch value (8.5/10).
The theme song “Still Alive” is already on repeat in my BL soundtrack playlist. I just wish the series had a better ending, but I suspect there's a second season on the way to probably keep us gagged.
Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time to go. Over to you: go and binge Zomvivor, NOW.

I loved it!
Listen, it's not a BL. A lot of the negative comments about this show on this page are because people were expecting a BL, even though it was never marketed as one. Some of the comments it's obvious that people are watching this without being fans of other shows of its kind.Honestly it's a great addition to the survival horror genre! I say this as someone who loves shows/movies about zombies or epidemic outbreaks, and also as someone who loves and has seen all the BLs that these actors are in.
Highlights for me - the acting is really great honestly. Shout out especially to Tommy, Boss, Yim for making their characters really believable. The chemistry between a lot of the stars was excellent! I mean they felt like friends or like enemies or like frenemies 😆 whatever they were trying to achieve with the character dynamics I really think they aced it.
There were some really good twists and turns. i won't spoil any of them, but I also like how some of the characters who pissed me off really got some karmic final moments.
Something I wasn't a huge fan of was a lot of the focus on the science and the adult characters in the flashbacks. I just felt like it took away some of the drama of the here-and-now. Also I'd prefer not to be explained all the ins and outs, because it's more tense to not really know wtf is going on.
I didn't mind the petty arguments, because they're in stressful situations and that's what happens in these shows. Think of All of Us Are Dead, Battle Royale, Night has Come... Theyre still young folks with a lot of drama in their lives and that doesn't miraculously disappear just because they've got bigger fish to fry. If that was the case no one would ever have petty drama, because surely there's always bigger fish?
Anyways, definitely worth a watch if you like this kind of thing or enjoy the actors. I really hope there's a second season, theres more story to be told! But considering how long it took for the first one to come out I'm trying not to get my hopes up.
(Also I wish BL fans would stop bitching about things not being the story they wanted to watch. If it's not for you that's fine, but shitting all over it or fast forwarding most of the story and then complaining about it being boring... How short is your attention span that you can't sit through 7 episodes of a high tension show without thinking it's boring? Maybe stop fast forwarding it and enjoy it for the experience it is...)

Feels like half a season
TLDR: This feels like half a season.I was a bit worried when the last episode started and we were no closer to solving the zombie problem than we were in episode one. By the end of the last episode, I was left feeling like the series went from nothing to nowhere. The biggest advancement was done by Group B, more specifically by Nat's character, who's more of a science genius than our protagonist. But that's not a critique of her, since 90% of the characters are dumb, dumb, dumb. Plus, they are very unlikable or annoying. Group B, with Nat, Poppy, Tutor, and Tonnam, was way more interesting than the main group, except when they were discussing the family bond of the cheer team.
One of my biggest problems with the show is the lack of likable characters. People don't all have to be good or nice, but a series needs some charismatic main characters. Ning is very unlikable, and so is Jean. Also, I feel like the show tries to make us believe Ning is a genius, when she's just part of the game being played by her mom, the professor, and the patron. She found the already-done research that mentioned the jellyfish; she didn't find out about the effect of the mushroom, nor about the importance of temperature, or about the zombie mother. Plus, she got on that helicopter pretty quickly.

Could be worse but it could have been way better
The only reason i finished watching the show was because I waited like 2 years to watch it. The show majorly suffered from over saturation of characters. Way too many of them to give a F if they died and several i wished would have gotten eaten by zombies because they were so annoying or stupid. though that 1 chick who constantly started drama, normally i would want a zombie to bite her but she at least gave good criticism to characters actions. so she wasn't as annoying like Ning. Ning i wished to die first because i despised her so much. Was this review helpful to you?

Fun watch!
I'm an avid zombie media consumer, and I honestly did not have high expectations for this show. however, it was actually good! the acting is good, the storyline is there, and the budget is pretty good too. I'd say the only bad thing about this show, is that it seems to only be seven episodes, and that's not nearly enough for as many characters as they have. it was hard to fully connect with a lot of the characters because there was so many of them and there wasn't enough time to flesh them each out, whereas I think if it had at least 10 episodes, it would have been much better! hopefully there's a season 2, because the show definitely has potential to be even better!! 🩷 (killing off my favorite character was not appreciated though LOL)Was this review helpful to you?

Being a fan of Horror Fiction, Survival n Zombie, I started watching this drama with loads of Excitement, esply when the drama is full of known Cast. The Story is Interesting n Direction is Good.
The Story Narration showing the Past n Present, is Very Good.
First three eps are lil slow n boring but last 4 eps are Very Interesting.
Overall, Pacing could be better.
The Mystery of the Zombies, their behaviour n pattern analysis of the surviving group is Cool.
Haha, these Zombies are different from the usual ones shown in other dramas -- these have Emotions n Memories!! 😂
Zombie Make-up is Very Good.
**** ACTORS :
Good to see all known faces (except 1,2) in one drama :)
Esply our mom Li from "To Sir, with love" (actress Pock) here, hehe.
The actors as Zombies acted really well.
OST -- Opening theme is very Good :)
**** RATING:
My initial rating is 7.5 (first three eps)
but since last 4 eps are really interesting, my Overall Rating is 8.5 / 10.
Zombie lovers can give a try!
**** SPOILER ****
What is that Ending!? 😮
Expected at the beginning of the finale ep itself that they won't conclude this story in 7 eps🤦🏻♀️
Oh God! Need to wait for S2 now🤷🏻♀️
If they give us S2, this Ending is Ok.
Else, should have concluded this story within this seasn itself.
This drama can be wrapped up well in 7 eps with a good closure to the story.

Who knew.....
Who knew that Thailand can do a good sci-fi drama that can sit amongst the world's offerings with pride. Truthfully, I was pleasantly shocked. Veering away from Thailand's penchant for dragging a story with unnecessary fillers and histrionic character portrayals, this was concisely wrapped and delivered on the perfect platform, Netflix, the doorway to the world. DMD chose the best of their stable of actors, and despite some minor moments, they were credible. One could imagine the daily drudge of Aunt Jit, going from job to job to enable a son with a gambling habit. Then diving into the portrayal of the zombie leader, rabid and ferocious, Jaa made it happen. It's sad to note that many older actors are given bit parts when clearly given the opportunity, they can bring life the the screen. Dr Viroj, the frustrated overworked science professor, locked between duty and love filled admirably by Weir. Boy, from Mandate, also come to mind.
As the story evolved, this progressed at a respectable pace, with no jarring splices. The carnage and chaos maximized by the accompanying musical score. Graphics, wardrobe, makeup depts were of the best. Every interraction that more believable because of it. The roles selected for each cast member were aptly chosen though it was evident that they delivered at different levels. Jimmy, Janis, Praew and Max stood a step above the rest. Praew became the cunning conscience and agent of change Prao. The cheerleaders and jocks, in their respective groups, filled in adequately with the spot of humor and arrogance needed to balance the tone. Who does a cheerleader chant with a building overun by zombies in an effort to save one? See, humor. Self preservation is innate unless the person you love represents the best part of you and worth saving. How to differentiate? Bonds are broken and betrayed with the fight to collectively stay alive.
I was saddened that they still linked Zee and Nunew as being close, hinted relationship here. I would have loved to see them go head to head and break away from the expectation. With the actual reveal, they're still linked. Hey, why jeopardize the cash cow, right?
The only issue I would take with the ending would be the time frame. A month later, the serums have been issued and there is hope. Are we to believe that the students, left as insignificant cast offs, have survived the entire time with no one else dying, making secret forays for food and the zombie population contained within the school and not venturing out for fresh victims. That is a stretch and a reason for a special episode to bring clarity. The bait left behind, which I believe Ning and Viroj have disappeared to retrieve, was brilliant.
This series depicted how well this genre can be produced when time, vision and dedication to the artform is encouraged and financed properly. DMD and Mandee, by extention Thailand, kudos. You did well.

what in the world
no way they ended it like thisand i know for a fact that we won't be getting a season two, if we are it will take such a long time.
are you freaking kidding me? mom is like a halfblood person now? and non? are you freaking me, he became open bait. you are leaving me sobbing right now. i cannot believe this. that being said, as a viewer it was a fine ending, i liked it. it has a good rewatch value.
this was a really innovative imagery honestly. it was a new perspective compared to the other zombie shows we've seen, and using scientific elements was great. i liked the pacing, and almost of all the characters had actual purpose. which i also like.
overall i'm satisfied with how the show turned out, and do i wish for another season? yes. i do. do my wishes always come true? no it doesn't. but the show has left me with questions, which is always a nice thing, content we consume should always make us question things.
honestly the new take made it so interesting and i'm glad they released all the episodes together, cause there was no way i was waiting,

Cool twist to the Zombie genre
I placed spoilers at the end of this review.Overall, this was an excellent series. It had a solid story idea that did not play it safe. I just wish it was executed a little better.
The Positive: It was great the script did not use the typical ideas of what a zombie should be. It was an interesting spin to this sub-genre which made it thrilling to watch unfold. I also thought it was brilliant that they did not use a traditional linear time frame with only one exception. The entire cast did an incredible job with their roles. The production team did an outstanding job with the cinematography, special effects, and FX make-up. They also did a great job with pacing and used the screen time wisely for a 7-episode series.
The Negative: The main problem was this had to many cast members/characters, at least they did not try to give all of them their own storyline. It did not help that they also did not do a good job introducing them. I don’t even know how all of the characters are linked to each other. This also made it hard to care about some of them. A minor problem was the script jumped straight into the chaos without giving us any reason to care about it.
Random Notes:
Warning, this has a lot of gory scenes. If you don’t have a high tolerance and/or don’t like gore, you should probably skip this series.
I liked the nod to “The Night of the Living Dead” at the very beginning of episode 1.
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I like that this had very little romance.
I rated the music a 5 because there really was not much music to rate.
This has an open ending with hints of a possible second season. Well, I’m hoping it does because I really would love to see more of this world and the characters.
******Potential Spoiler Alert******
I like the general idea of getting the viewers’ attention at the very beginning but the first episode became too chaotic. My critique is they should have started with the 6-month earlier section first to get the views care more about the characters.

Worthy Halloween Binge!
First of all, this is actually a great series and totally worth the almost three-year wait. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much at first, but I was excited to finally get a Thai zombie apocalypse drama — and I ended up binging the entire series in one night.I really appreciate Domundi’s effort and budget here. The production quality is impressive — from its cinematography, scriptwriting, directing, to editing — all handled with care. The lineup of actors is stellar, and everyone delivered such convincing performances. The pacing is also spot-on: enough suspense without dragging too slow or moving too fast, with unexpected plot twists that kept me hooked. I especially loved the smooth transitions between past and present scenes — they were so well executed.
The biggest highlight for me is the “cure attempt gone wrong” trope. I like how the show cleverly blends real-world science into a fictional context — it makes the story feel grounded yet thrilling.
There are a lot of characters, but surprisingly, each one serves a clear purpose and brings life to the series. Some moments and characters really stayed with me — the mother-children arc, the cheerleading and Lily scenes, Pao’s mental relapse, the infamous alarm phone scene, and of course, the Ning-Non ending.
The only reason I didn’t give it a full five stars is because of the cliffhanger ending (please, let there be a Season 2 soon!) and a few small plot loopholes here and there. But overall, Zomvivor is a refreshing, high-quality take on the zombie genre — and one of the best Thai dramas I’ve seen in years.

What a series
Honestly was not expecting anything much with this series. I really like zombie theme series, so when years back they released teaser I was excited but somewhere I knew we won't get the series anytime soon. But now as we got the series and have completed all 7 episode in one go, this shows how good the series was. I had little to no expectations, I knew the casting amd acting would be great, but was worried, if they will be able to meet the standards that other zombie series had. But oh my god, they did, everything was great.I really wanna recommend this to my non bl friends so that they can see how good thai series can be. But i think they will eventually know about this series, as this is a kind of genre that so many viewer's enjoy, so i wanna wait for them to start first and then for me to brag that yes, my fav actors are casted in this series.
Thankyou domundi for this series. This is something that i always wanted. Now just give us season 2 asap!!
