Surviving the zombie apocalypse with the worst people you know

Look, I love a good complex character and I...am fine with zombies. While it's not my go to genre, I do love stuff like All of Us Are Dead and Train To Busan, The Last of Us, etc. So I wasn't opposed to this one, plus it had a lot of actors I like (Boun you were lost too soon lol).

However. If you're going to have a zombie show where the protagonists are knowledgeable about zombie lore, you either need to keep from making them do things that happen in these shows because they are stupid or give a good reason why these people would do these stupid things. But this show did not do the work. People talked openly about zombie lore and yet still did the most deadbrained things, like untie a dude who has fully tried to murder two others or leave your phone on when you know that noise attracts the dead people. Or stand there and CALL OUT to a zombie knowing she's a zombie. They did some quick "dude's off his meds" explanation for that one but come on.

And that's not even getting into how much they all sucked. Honestly if I were with any group but the cheerleaders I probably would have pulled a Pao and tried to offer myself to the zombies too, just to get away from them. I also felt like they gave us a bunch of characters who, sorry, were way more interesting than the main trio of Ning, Non, and San,...and then made us focus on those three anyway. I didn't necessarily like Prao either (I never do care for needlessly mean people, although I do like that the show never tried to explain her) but girlie had a point about them.

I also hated the ending. It's obvious sequel bait and I'm sure it'll get one, but it kind of made me want to slap Mook, lol. Like girl, I don't disagree that Ning acts like the protagonist in a drama (because she is), but you keep absolving yourself of some really stupid and/or cruel decisions by blaming her, lol. Shut up.

One thing I really did like and hope they expand on is this version of the zombies. *Is* the person still in there? And if they are, does that mean they can come back? I can't imagine not, because lbr they ain't leaving Nunew a mere zombie in any universe, but I will be curious to see how it pans out, if there is indeed a sequel. I really loved Lily doing her cheer, even if it led the zombies to them lol (and see, in this case them being stupid kind of makes sense). And she was in there enough to lead the other zombies away from her friends. I also was pretty interested in the mom and her dilemma - I love that sort of double life stuff.

Overall it was fine. It did most of the stuff that you expect from a zombie show, and it tried to do something a little different with the zombies themselves, although I expect the All of Us Are Dead comparisons will be inevitable. If there's a sequel I will probably watch, especially if they drop it all at once again, but I won't be chomping at the bit for it.

Definitely worth it!

I liked Zomvivor because it wasn’t just about zombies—it was about people. The show did a great job of showing how each character dealt with fear, guilt, and survival. I felt connected to their stories, and the mix of horror and emotion kept me hooked. It made me think about how people change when everything falls apart.

What I Loved:
🎭 Strong performances from a talented cast
🧠 A plot that goes beyond gore
🎬 Cinematic visuals and an eerie atmosphere that elevate the tension

A nice effort

Let me start by saying that the production value and cinematography are incredible. Zomvivor looks amazing, and that deserves to be praised. The effects and zombie makeup are also top-notch.

The thing with zombie shows is that the zombies themselves aren’t usually the most interesting part. Sure, you can add some twists — as this show tries to do by asking whether the person is still “in there” — but in the end, they still behave like the zombies we’ve all seen before. What makes a zombie story compelling, at least for me, is how the living react: how they handle the situation, their dynamics with one another, and whether they’ll find a way out. Unfortunately, Zomvivor doesn’t spend enough time on those relationships before everything goes to hell, and that’s where it falls short.

It’s the same problem I had with All of Us Are Dead (which I admittedly haven’t finished, so maybe I’m missing something). That show throws you straight into the outbreak and the horrors the students face. People die, and it’s tragic, but not because we care about them. We barely know who they are or how they relate to each other. Zomvivor has that same issue. We’re told that Jean and Poa are like brothers because they grew up in the same orphanage, but the show never shows it. We’re told that San and Ning are dating, yet there’s zero romantic chemistry between them.

The one moment that really worked for me was when Ning looked around the room and saw Lily and Win holding hands, comforting each other; Thi and Thorn sleeping side by side as brothers; and Ning herself holding Non in her lap. That scene captured real warmth and connection.

I understand why the creators chose to throw us right into the chaos. It’s a refreshing change from the usual zombie formula, where everything starts before the outbreak. But personally, I prefer beginning before the fall. It gives us time to understand who these people are and why we should care when things go wrong.

Now, about the characters. First, all the actors gave strong performances. Whether I liked their characters or not, they did justice to the material. I especially want to praise Jimmy, Nat, Janis, Boss, and Tommy. I don’t have time to discuss everyone, so I’ll focus on the ones that stood out, for better or worse.

Poa is, to me, the most interesting of all of them. He doesn't get a lot of screentime, and his story arc needed a lot more depth, but this is how I interpreted the character. Ever since his whole family died in a tsunami, he's been living with this survivor's guilt that has caused severe depression, which has to medicate. Lately, he had been doing a lot better and had gotten off the medication, until the outbreak happened. Seeing people die right in front of him while he couldn't save them triggered that survivor's guilt and depression again, leading him to slowly lose himself and bring others down with him. He definitely got on my nerves a lot, but his character is fascinating. But this is how I interpret him. The show doesn't actually say this out loud. It doesn't have the time to develop him, which is such a shame.

Nat really surprised me. I wasn’t fully convinced by his acting in past projects, but he was fantastic here. I loved Night’s character and Nat’s performance, even if Night didn’t get enough focus in the main storyline.

As for the cheerleader squad, I found them ridiculous and unnecessary. I adore the actors, but their subplot was too silly to take seriously, though I suppose they’re there to lighten the tone once in a while.

And don’t even get me started on the whole San-Non-Ning situation. That’s a conversation for another day

Overall, I’m genuinely excited for a potential season 2. There are interesting storylines in motion, and I hope the writers take the time to invest in their characters, not necessarily through big arcs for everyone, the cast is too large for that, but through small, meaningful moments like the one I mentioned earlier. Those details go a long way.

Much more better than I expected

I actually like it. It is not just an empty shell wrapped with a fancy survival apocalypse theme and it actually had meaning. I like some of the real points, like it is always the working class that gets the shorter end of the stick while the rich are trying to RULE THE WORLD and how they can't use the vehicle just because almost all of the new vehicles are using push-start instead of key. I like the characters have complex and contrast, and no one is just truly a Good Samaritan nor an ultimate villain, which makes me feel real and not fairytale-ish. Another point is that there were no forced or unnecessary love line, everyone is just focusing on survival (fans please don't come after me) The build-up to the climax in the last episode is phenomenal. I am just glad that i didn't wait for 3 years for nothing.

Glad to know that it is confirmed there will be a Season 2, can't wait to see the story develop further (I am just not sure how much we need to wait this time LOL)

Another win for DMD after Khemjira, very good.

.

Carried by Cast, Powered by Chaos

I couldn’t help but compare this series to Abadi Nan Jaya (The Elixir), mostly because I watched them back to back in the same week. And for me, Abadi Nan Jaya still wins. What surprised me, though, was seeing how much higher this show’s rating is in comparison. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. People aren’t watching this series to deeply analyze every detail or pick apart the writing, they’re watching it to be entertained. And in that sense, it works. It’s the kind of show you binge without thinking too hard, and I think that’s exactly why so many people rated it generously.

The characters here are way more annoying than the ones in Abadi Nan Jaya. And weirdly enough… I didn’t hate that. The chaos, bad decisions, and straight-up frustrating personalities actually made the show easier to binge. I finished it in two days, mostly because I kept thinking, “Okay, what dumb thing are they going to do next?” This isn’t a show where you get super emotionally attached to everyone, but it keeps you watching through sheer momentum. It’s more about reactions than reflections.

If there’s one clear area where this series beats Abadi Nan Jaya, it’s the cast. Let’s be real, the casting is stacked. Mandee really said, “What if we put every BL actor people recognize into one zombie series?” and honestly, that move worked. Seeing familiar faces pop up constantly was fun, exciting, and definitely part of why the show got so much hype. The actors all did a solid job, and their presence alone carried a lot of scenes. That said, great casting can only take a show so far, it boosts popularity, but it doesn’t automatically fix storytelling issues.

I’d say this series had potential, strong production value, and a cast that did a lot of heavy lifting. It’s not something I’d praise for its depth or character development, but it is entertaining, fast to binge, and easy to recommend if you’re just looking for something fun and chaotic. I get why people enjoyed it, even if it didn’t fully land for me. I’ll probably still tune in for a second season. If nothing else, I’m curious to see whether they take the story somewhere more meaningful or just lean fully into the madness again.

Watched it because it's from Domundi but stayed for the quality. It follows similar zombie plotline, something goes wrong, got infected, survival and etc. However, there's something unique about it that I can't pinpoint where but it got me hooked right away. Love the quality, characters, and the plot.

Only giving it 8 stars because it genuinely managed to annoy me every single episode.

This drama was genuinely entertaining, but also one of the most frustrating zombie dramas I’ve watched in a while. Half the time I was impressed, and the other half I was questioning how some of these characters survived longer than five minutes. It constantly felt like the show was rage baiting me on purpose.

First of all, the zombie makeup and effects were REALLY good. The zombies actually looked scary and realistic instead of looking like people who skipped sleep for three days. One thing that also surprised me was how fast the apocalypse escalated. Usually, in zombie shows, the government spends five episodes "evaluating the situation." Not here! By Day 2, helicopters were already in the air, shooting everything that moved. The efficiency was actually impressive.

Now let’s talk about the characters and their collective lack of survival instincts.

WHY do these people refuse to understand the concept of infection??? Bite = Bad. It’s not a personality change, it’s not a rough phase, they are literally turning into a zombie. Yet every time someone transformed, the others would stand there trying to talk emotionally to them instead of running away. Like yes, Shaila, that was your friend two minutes ago, but now she sees you as a snack. Please RUN.

And then there’s Fah. Oh my god, GURL MEET ME OUTSIDE.
The group already figured out that zombies attack based on sound, right? So when her phone started ringing, what does this genius do? Throw it away? Turn it off? NO ❤️ She runs around carrying the loudest object in Thailand while attracting fifty zombies and then runs straight back to her friends like: “Guys look!! I brought guests 😍”

Pao was another character that really frustrated me. I’ve seen people defend him by saying he was misunderstood or mentally unstable after losing his friends, and while I understand trauma affected him, the problem is that everyone in this drama lost someone. The apocalypse wasn’t easy for anyone. The P.E. team especially suffered because of the terrible decisions made around them. Characters like Gus, Korn, and Aek genuinely felt like people who were trying to survive logically, so seeing them pay the price for someone else’s stupidity was honestly painful.

Let’s talk about the "Patron" logic. This man didn't want to be immortal, but he didn't want his body to rot. So his big plan was to be a fresh, non-rotting corpse? Sir, what exactly is the vision here? Because from my understanding, you are still VERY dead. The logic is as rotting as the zombies should be.

And the ending honestly irritated me the most. After watching everyone fight tooth and nail to survive, the rescue was basically for Ning and her brother only. Meanwhile everyone else who had been suffering through this nightmare was just left behind. The whole disaster started because of Ning's mother’s lie and the experiments surrounding the serum, yet somehow they were treated like the chosen ones while everyone else was disposable. The drama barely shows what happens to the remaining survivors.

Out of all the characters, Boss (Phu) was honestly the only one I consistently liked. He actually used his brain, tried to understand situations logically, and behaved like someone who genuinely wanted to survive.

Anyways, If you’re looking for a show that makes you feel like an absolute genius compared to the characters on screen, ZOMVIVOR is for you.

Did I wish they died yes lol.. it could be but slow I feel more to the End of the the drama but it kinda made sense tho cuzs we was getting more the full story and what was happening.. But of your into Zombies and wanna see some or one of your favorites in this I well have to say check it out.. then is a opening ending so then is going to be a S2..

Left confused

Saying this now but there are definitely going to be spoilers in this review so if you haven't Zomvivor, maybe don't read this?
This series is spectacular. Amazing actors, good cinematography and cool effects. You could really tell that they had a big budget and they used it right. They were really dedicated to this drama. But there were some moments where I was like: "Huh? Wait, what?"
Don't get me wrong, the story and the plot were interesting but the ending was so not what I expected.
What happened during that 1 month? Where are the other survivors? Why was Nonn in a cage and why did he have blue eyes like his mom? And where did Ning and Wiroj go?
The ending felt like such a huge cliffhanger and I want to know more.
Overall, Zomvivor is a really good show and I would 100% recommend it if you like this type of genre.

Be for real. ITS. SO. MESSY.

Setting aside the fact that there is a possible Season 2, this is weakly executed. Like the potential is there, but men the execution? Its sad. The writers, directors wanted to do A LOT, to the point that inserting it in a 7-episode serie feels so wrong. And being honest, it should have been called the "Mom-Ning-Non family story" because let's be real, almost HALF of the serie was just about their slowburn storyline, where in fact it was promoted and advertised as more than that.

I waited almost 2 years for this, and then I am completely sad about watching this. Maybe because of how it was promoted and being pushed by the company into all of their social media accs, my expectation went so high. But yeah, I learned my lesson.

I can see what the production want to do with this serie. They wanted to make it as unique as possible as there are a lot of zombie series and movies out there. But after watching it,they should gave it more time. Recheck script and screenplay.

The only good thing about this serie are the actors. They still pulled off the acting. They made me feel what I have to feel towards their characters by playing it so well. Commending Mark, Boss, Boun and Nunew here.

Overall; I dont hate it, but I don't love it nor like it either.

Will I recommend it? If you are a BL fan, maybe? But overall, still a yes (so you know what I mean) haha.
