Lost in translation, found in feelings
Can This Love Be Translated? is a quietly captivating drama that draws you in without relying on flashy twists. Its strength lies in restraint, allowing emotions, silences, and unspoken tension to do most of the work. The chemistry between Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung is palpable and effortlessly natural. Every glance, pause, and shared moment feels intentional, making their slow-burn romance deeply engaging rather than rushed or forced. The casting is spot-on, with both leads perfectly embodying the emotional depth their characters require.
Beyond the romance, the drama excels in its direction and writing. The storytelling is layered and thoughtful, using dialogue rich with subtext while trusting the audience to read between the lines. The pacing is measured but absorbing, staying true to the drama’s introspective tone.
Visually, the cinematography is soft and intimate, complementing the emotional weight of the story, while the OST is subtle and well-placed, enhancing key moments without overwhelming them.
Overall, Can This Love Be Translated? is a gripping yet gentle watch. It's one that proves love isn’t always loud, but when done right, it can be quietly spellbinding.

Hong Sisters' old dramas are better!
As someone who watched Hong sisters' drama since Sassy Girl Chunhyang era, watching CTLBT feels nostalgic: the signature character set up & plot of the writers.CTLBT feels like The Greatest Love + Master Sun.
On eps 2, I was teary because of this nostalgic vibes. I also love "dark" vibes on A Quite Woman filming /scene. I am so happy for first 6eps.
But unfortanely after watched 12 eps, I feel something off. My Girl, The Greatest Love, You're Beautiful left long lasting after taste for me. I was also very emotional when I watched those dramas. I still listen to those OST till now, & I always recall the emotion back then.
But unfortunately I didnt really feel something emotional around eps 9-12. Why did suddenly I loose my empathy for the protagonist? Why all the problems seems like only decoration, that definitely would having happy ending? The OST is also forgettable compare to Hong Sisters old dramas.
My mind actively analyze why. I think the problems come from script structure & dialogue. The script failed to build depthness of the trauma of each character. The triangle love suddenly became main couple part + second couple part + Hiro part. The narative logic like: the manager moved to JHJ's house, but he never met CMH. Etc.
Now I am going to sleep. Seems my mind will still busy to analyze after that.
Edit:
I've just woke up LOL
Now I realize another factor. The title imply about human translation & interpretation: from missunderstanding become understanding & empathy; from hate become love; from stranger become lover.
But the script itself didnt really do that. Only missunderstanding. The main couple barely having deep & meaningful conversation. Dorami only tell FL secret, & ML do sacrifice in silent. Until last eps, FL didnt know that SFL is her manager's fiancee. Etc.
In example, the growth of FL rely on scenes when "she closed her eyes", suddenly everything come to resolution. The problems-resolution & characters development in this drama rely on editing!
I can compare this drama with Run On (a drama who also potray translator life) who really do great job about human communication: light, funny, but also deep & meaningful. Audience can see the growth of the character.
The charms that are absent from CTLBT.

mukbang scene between Kim Seonho and Go Younjung made me stay
lets start from things i like:of course the cinematography and places! the production team went all out with the budget. Now i have a set of places i want to go to when im going to Japan, Italy, Canada and Spain. Also the actors are all soo pretty, esp Go younjung. she has that boba eyes for sure. moving on to the characters, i'm surprised to root for the second ml. it's cause sota fukushi played it really well! His korean accent wasnt stilted or awkward, and he got charming chemiatry with gyj. I was thinking maybe if she met him first, she would like him better lmao ALSO THE KISS! omg my firat mukbang in 2026 rofl
things i feel lukewarm abt: the sudden love lines in supporting characters. why would there be love linr between pdnim x assistant? idc about their scene at all. and his mom marrying without telling her own son? weird but whtv
and lastly, what i dont like abt this drama is why would there be a sudden alter ego plot? It would be better if they stayed d
digging more into relationship between selebrity x non-seleb, how struggling would an introvert interpreter be dragged into her dazzling showbiz world, the obvious power imbalance would make such a DELICIOUS miscommunication that drive the plot REALISTICALLY. But they choose the DID path, in which even the mental illness wasnt even properly showcased and cared for in the end. i feel like her having alter ego is just for the sake of convenience to... what? we could se how pitiful her background is? to make her closer with the ml? thats just so bizzare to me. I almost dropped this drama if only i didnt see their kissing scene spoiler on tiktok.

I LOVE THE ACTORS SM
This concept is quite refreshing for a Korean show, the romance was romancing and the chemistry between actors was on FIRE. Also I loved seeing Kim Seon-Ho in a romcom for the first time in such a long time. I want to put the female lead in mi pocket, because she was so adorable.I was so surprised to see the Do Ra-Mi situation, but I think this was very much needed with Idol I episodes releasing at the same time and an actually nice second male lead once again.
Will be rewatching:)

This is genuinely one of the best dramas I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen probably over 80. I loved it.😍 I loved everything about it. It was gorgeous✨like, actually gorgeous. The acting was really good, the plot was really good, the characters were great, and the cinematography was absolutely breathtaking💞🌌 Truly beautiful. The OSTs were amazing as well. I literally rated this drama a 10/10, and I rarely do that. Most dramas get at least an 8.5 from me, but this was a solid 10 in my book. It’s stunning. I absolutely recommend it.🎆🛤️🌌🌄🩵💕✨Was this review helpful to you?

A very precise & deal introducer review.....
It was different than what we had expected from the trailers and synopsis, but that only made it even more fun and rather more stable of a storyline to enjoy throughout the 12 episodes. It was weird but in a good way. The surprise element of split personality gave a fresh air to the drama. It's also something which made it unique to it's own and iconic. Something that people would wanna watch as they get interested in kdramas, in the coming years.
The quirkiness of Do-rami was really interesting and something that excited me a lot. Those scenes were so artistic in a sense.
I would say it was a pretty good watch, especially with all those unique elements.
Unfortunately there were a few parts which didn't made much sense to me. Like her level and passion towards liking the ML since they were basically strangers. So I can't expect someone to like a stranger so so much right from the get go. Then, the issues between their love translations, I could pretty much understand both of them so how couldn't they with each other. It was only almost in the last half that actually made me confused about her language a little as well. Otherwise it was pretty much clear so why was ML finding it so hard too understand. But you know that's how it is between humans....sometimes it's just so hard to understand other beings when they are totally different from us because we never know what they've struggled with in life.
Their chemistry, acting and the cinematography played a significant role in making this drama a success. In a sea full of below average dramas these days, it shines brighter than most.
I would still totally recommend it to people

loneliness becomes its strongest evidence
There is a book I love deeply; I won’t name it, in case someone reading this has read it. In the story, a girl speaks every week on the phone with her mother, who is in prison. Throughout these conversations, the mother relentlessly belittles her daughter, always under the guise of concern. “You don’t really deserve that anyway.” “They spend time with you out of pity.” “Did she call you sweet? Then she probably didn’t like you that much.” At first, these words seem like nothing more than the language of a cruel mother. But toward the end of the book, it becomes clear that the “mother” the girl hears is less a real person than a voice deeply rooted in her mind. This is not simply an imaginary mother; it is an inner voice shaped by childhood trauma, one that forms the girl’s beliefs about herself, a voice that claims to protect her while quietly shrinking her, shaming her, and pushing her into solitude. This is a painful truth, yet the story whispers this: for a child, the mother’s voice is not an interpretation but reality itself. How the world works, what people mean, what love looks like — all of this is learned through that voice. Even when the mother disappears, the voice remains, because it no longer speaks from the outside but from within.
When read alongside Can This Love Be Translated, this meaning deepens further. In that story, the character the girl creates ultimately turning out to be her mother does not suggest a return to the mother, but rather the inevitable emergence of the mother from within the mind. The one who was meant to learn the language of love never learned it at all. And so love does not appear as tenderness or closeness, but as control and diminishment. The girl reconstructs the only form of love she knows.
In this book, the mother’s voice builds an invisible glass wall between the protagonist and the world. Because the voice insists, “No one truly loves you,” the protagonist grows increasingly isolated. As the isolation deepens, the voice validates itself; loneliness becomes its strongest evidence.
Both stories bleed from the same wound: sometimes we are hurt most where we were meant to be loved. And perhaps more painfully still, we are hurt most where we were forced to change ourselves in order to be loved. For the more we change shape, the more we lose our own voice until only someone else’s remains.
it was so good.

A Refreshing and Beautifully Made Romance — 10/10
It was an absolutely wonderful watch for me, and easily a 10/10. I’ve been watching K-dramas, J-dramas, and C-dramas for over 10–12 years, and this drama reminded me why I fell in love with them in the first place. From the very beginning, the drama pulls you in with its beautiful scenic views and cinematography. Every episode feels visually pleasing, calm, and immersive. The production quality is consistently strong, and the way nature and locations are used adds so much to the overall experience.
The chemistry between the main leads is one of the biggest highlights. It feels natural, engaging, and emotionally satisfying. Their interactions are enjoyable to watch, and the drama balances romance with tension in a way that keeps you invested without feeling overwhelming. The cute moments genuinely made me smile, and the emotional beats landed well.
Both leads delivered excellent performances. Go Youn Jung was especially captivating on screen — her presence alone adds so much to the drama, and it’s easy to see why so many viewers adore her. Kim Seon Ho was equally strong, bringing warmth and sincerity that made the romance even more compelling.
The OST deserves special mention. It fits the mood perfectly and stays with you even after the episode ends. It’s one of those soundtracks you find yourself listening to again because it brings back the emotions of the drama.
Another personal highlight for me was the presence of the third lead, played by Fukushi Sota. As someone who watched a lot of J-dramas in the past, seeing him here was a huge plus. His presence added charm and made the drama even more enjoyable for me.
Overall, this drama felt refreshing, emotionally engaging, visually beautiful, and genuinely enjoyable. It has strong performances, great music, lovely visuals, and excellent rewatch value. I absolutely loved it and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-made romance drama.

Can Love be Translated?
Overall, I found this series to be a good watch, even if the juxtaposition of the different personas of the FL made it a little confusing at first. The plot carries fairly alright, but there was something that happened in the last 15 minutes which just felt unnecessary. The series would have probably have survived as an even shorter limited series as there is a continuation of certain themes between each episode.
The soundtrack helped carry a lot of the elements of the show and really brought to life that emotional sense you get when watching as the viewer.
I thought that the drama highlighted really well how people can struggle to interpret love, as it is not a language you see written on paper with grammatical rules, but it's an invisible entity of human life. I think Seon Ho's character really portrayed that really well, by showing that you can be intelligent and even multilingual, but you can still struggle to properly understand and translate love.

the best drama of 2026
this is probably the best drama of the year and it's only january.there's a couple of things i wanna talk about. when people talk about any actor/actress not being good i don't like to talk about it because i've never fully comprehend it. but, with younjung (and i've watched a few of her works), i can say she's actually good. maybe it wasn't that hard to understand it, but she was so good at projecting do rami, not just when muhee had these hallucinations, but even when she transformed into her. she didn't need to say it out loud, it was obvious, the way she spoke, her body language and the way she dressed making the difference between her and muhee.
something i kinda didnt like, though. was the family subplot, i get the reason do rami was haunting muhee was actually her mother but the way her mother tried to kill her dad uhhh its kinda weird to me somehow. ive never been a fan of crime subplot in a kdrama romcom but anyways, thats just me.
at the beginning, even though muhee was embarrassing herself in front of and even fucking it up with hojin, i think it was important for the drama to keep moving. it was really good ngl i loved everything about it
