A Beautiful Escape with a Heartfelt Romance

The setting alone got me. A small island off Taipei, surfer-hippie atmosphere, a family ice cream shop, a father's airbnb — the kind of place my mind drifts to when I think about disappearing somewhere and starting over. The series understood exactly what it had in that location and used it well.
What makes it genuinely strong for me are the characters. Everyone here was given room to actually be someone — layered, contradictory, real in the way people are real — and because of that you understand the pull between them without being told to feel it. The intimate scenes landed harder than I expected, warm and familiar in a way that suggested two people who actually like each other. That's rarer than it should be.
My personal sticking point is with the wish as a narrative engine. It drew me in at the start and I appreciated what it made possible — there's a conversation between a son and his father at a fish market that I found quietly beautiful. But somewhere along the way it started to feel more like a constraint than a gift, and there were moments where my patience with it frayed. For me it would have worked better treated like a fever dream that shakes something loose rather than the central mechanism driving everything forward.
A little Groundhog Day, a little Taiwanese indie film, and a lot of genuine warmth. The heart of it is real.

Amazing acting with some strange storytelling

I miss both couples already, but especially the mains! Both love stories were so emotional and romantic. The chemistry of the first couple is beyond amazing. Their intimacy was unreal. I mean holy damn. I won't recover from that anytime soon! It was hot and so incredibly emotional. Really well done. (If you want a treat, go find the actors reacting to the mains NC scene. It's one of the best reaction videos I've ever seen.)

The second couple is so good to watch too. Their chemistry is also fire. They are more playful but also full of emotion.

Honestly, both couples seemed very confortable with each other, which makes everything better to watch. It feels natural. Thank you actors!

The other characters are also great. The dad, mom, and uncle made me so happy. They were very genuine characters that didnt feel forced.

There were a few weird storylines that were confusing and one or two characters who I didn't think were propely tied into what was happening (and their stories were definitely not tied up).

But overall I liked the story despite the sometimes awkward flow. Definitely watch this one!

emotional but a bit confusing journey

what to tell about this? actors were so good that i started to question are they really a couple. the story was so good the concept of wishing something and that might come true is so good. before wishing something think 100 times because it will come true here. yes if it really present i would surely wish for a rich life . when life becomes so hard that you just want to disappear but you forget the people who loves you are present and you are not lonely, that kind of story this is. the ending episode is really frustrating and confusing that i skipped few scenes. the raw romance that two couple have shown is just MUAHH.. i didn't expect such explicit scenes from them but i loved them.overall just watch it guys.

Good start very weak ending

Everything was decent until the last four episodes. The side couple ended up being far more interesting and had better chemistry than the main couple, which made it hard to stay invested in the leads. After episode 8, the story completely lost its direction and felt rushed and all over the place. So many plot points were either dropped or poorly wrapped up. And that ending? Genuinely one of the most disappointing endings I've seen in a while. It felt unsatisfying, lazy, and completely wasted the potential the show had built up in its first half.

what if you wished upon a shooting star?

ever thought about what would happen if you made a wish upon a shooting star, and it actually came true?

i found the entire concept of wishing upon a shooting star and having it come true very intriguing. the fact that he wished for it, and it really came true, and now it’s making him realize that it was a mistake to wish for something like that. i love the underlying message : be careful what you wish for!

the cinematography is so mesmerizing. all the blue everywhere just makes me feel so warm💙 the island and its people are just so lovable. they are like one big family!

the actors are doing an amazing job. especially the one playing Zhongxing. and the actors playing their younger selves?? they are so good omg! i love that they actually casted teenagers to play those roles, instead of making the same actors play their younger selves pretending to be high schoolers.

the main couple have so much chemistry! we could feel all the love and regret, and their years of unresolved feelings. the scene of them getting together was so beautifully done. the lighting, the cinematography, the absolutely beautiful ost in the background…everything was just so beautiful. it has to be one of the bests I’ve ever seen in a BL!

the second couple is also amazing! I often find second couples annoying or unnecessary, but here I loved them just as much as the first couple. although I’m not a fan of “I’m clearly in love with you, but I’ll keep denying that no matter how much you try to win me over” trope initially , they really won my heart afterwards. i also just found out that the actor playing Hama is half Japanese! that makes me appreciate this cast even more ^_^

I have to mention the actors playing their younger selves once again. despite being so young, they were so good! they had such amazing chemistry as well. I would love to see them together in a BL when they grow older🥹

I was watching this drama every week while it was ongoing. watching it end made me somewhat emotional, i kinda grew attached to the beautiful island and its amazing people🥹💙

overall this was just so beautiful and soothing to watch. one of my most fav bls of this year so far!

LOVE THIS SERIES!!

Taiwan absolutely delivered. This is a great series, it’s a clever, different storyline, the two main actors are fantastic and episode eight delivers better than so many of the shows out there right now. I’m not sure why it’s not getting a higher rating overall, but this is one of my favorites. the second couple is just as appealing and entertaining, I like the sort of magical side with Xi Xi and our little man with the watermelon candies. But it’s a love story at heart and just beautifully done.

Be Careful What You Wish For

Who hasn't wished at one time or another that they could just disappear or start over somewhere where no one knew them? But what would you do if it actually happened? What if that fleeting moment of frustration became the basis for your every day life? This series reminds us that even in our times of struggle and uncertainty, there are so many people around us whose lives would be forever changed if we weren't in it. It's so easy to get wrapped up in anxiety, grief, and depression, and we forget that the good times are there too. That we have people we love and who love us back. This series is a wonderful reminder to keep pressing forward and not take our loved ones for granted, and to also remember that it's ok to ask for help sometimes.

Magnum Opus!

This is one of those rare journeys that comes along every so often that initially seems so straightforward but ends up becoming a transcendent traversal.
This gently told paragon may be the best-written and best-acted BL of the year. The foundation begins rather mundane and, in a sense, ordinary. By its end, however, it may prompt you to reflect on your own life and think back to moments when you wished you had maybe disappeared or imagined being someone else who might have made you feel more understood and appreciated. What would happen if you really did disappear…. But in the process, you realize that what you had all along was exactly what you had been looking for and seeking? Is it now too late as the reality that one might drift into oblivion? It seeks to answer the question: What happens if what one impulsively wished for, actually came true? Yet not in the utopian sense one thought it would have.
This fantasy is a soft, gentle, deeply reflective, pensive, and introspective parable. Yet, it contains two of the most passionate love stories to come out in a long time, both with such genteel touches. Simply enjoy its themed message and ask yourself: What would happen if your essence suddenly disappeared, yet you remained? How would you sense having never existed yet here you are? It makes you think about this perhaps for your own epitaph.

A Chef's Kiss

Everything was done beautifully. I loved the cinematography and the plot, it's very unqiue. Normally im not a fan of Taiwanese BLs not this one holds a special place in my heart.

What I also appreciate about this show is the life lessons they teach us. One that stuck with me (in my own words) is trying to change yourself for people who dont understand your worth and pushing away the people that love and support you. It's often so hard to constantly remind yourself that there's people who love you for you, sometimes your mind tend to linger on the negatives and you let that control your life. I really like how He Xiang is able to confront the challenges that he was facing and learn a valuable lesson.

AHH I JUST LOVED THIS SHOW, THE MAIN COUPLE, SIDE COUPLE AND HE XIANG -LI WAN FRIENDSHIP , THE UNCLE, DAD AND ANGELA.

Im so sad that this series has come to an end but it would forever hold a special place in my heart💗

VERY WORTH THE WATCH!!!

I just wanted to say that this series was really good and I can't believe it's over 😭😤😔💔 the story, the acting, the plot, the actors and actresses very well planned.

I hope to see more series in the future very good 😊 👍 but still, I cannot believe how many good series has been released this year even I can't keep up watching them 😭😭 but it's fine it's a good thing that this genre is expanding more and people will release more series I remember like it was yesterday that it was like a some shortage I wanted to watch more series but it was limited the people who makes these.

Cheers to more series to come 🤝🍻

I’m just genuinely thankful for the creators of this series

I finally finished the entire series of Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, and I can confidently say I made the right decision to watch it. This series truly deserves to be called one of the best BL dramas I’ve seen.

What I loved most is that it never became tiring to watch. Every scene felt meaningful, engaging, and beautifully directed. Even the flashbacks — which are usually the parts I dislike most in dramas — were handled so well here. They added emotion and depth without dragging the story down or becoming exhausting.

The cast was absolutely wonderful. Every actor delivered such sincere and natural performances that made the characters feel real and easy to connect with. Nothing felt exaggerated or forced. You could genuinely feel every emotion in the quiet moments, conversations, and dramatic scenes.

And honestly, the director clearly knew exactly what he was doing. The storytelling, pacing, emotional balance, and scene execution were all crafted with so much care. I cried through every dramatic scene because the emotions felt authentic, never corny or overly dramatic just for the sake of making viewers cry.

The music also deserves appreciation because it blended perfectly with the atmosphere of the series. It supported the emotions beautifully without overpowering the scenes.

I’m genuinely thankful to the creators, cast, and production team for making a BL series like this. This is the kind of storytelling I hope we continue to see more of in the future — grounded, emotional, sincere, and beautifully written.

This series honestly deserves awards, and I truly hope the team behind it creates more projects in the future.
