beautifully written, painfully tragic, yet somewhat a happy ending.

Our main leads suffered so so much, and the universe gave them another chance—a very well-deserved chance. Many lives were altered, but if it were 1 life for the lives of many others, of course this was the better outcome. However, I am left somewhat empty. That's how you know it's a good story.
It was overall worth the watch but def a one-time watch.
I love love the character arcs of some characters; their growth and resilience were very touching.

I minused 0.5 stars just because it suddenly got confusing at episode 8? , and I felt like some characters' stories were left unfinished.

the whole time i was watching this, i kept internally screaming "TALK ABOUT UNCONDIOTIONAL LOVE!!" tang yi xun's love for ye haitang is probably the best example of one. this story actually portrayed a whole different meaning of love. it makes you wonder what actual love is. there wasn't a single scene of them kissing, oh let alone that, they didn't even utter the word "love". but we all FELT their love for each other through the damn screen. not to mention, i was crying to almost every episode (i don't usually cry THAT much lol). i cried the most in that specific scene, where xun was writing to tang's future son, he asked "what's your father's name?" (he was obviously jealous and disappointed that tang's future son has a different surname than his 😭), then when he turned away from tang to write something privately, i thought he was gonna ask about himself specifically, but he asks "is he good to your mom?" tears immediately, IMMEDIATELY started flowing from my eyes cause, all xun really wants is tang to be happy, even if he's not in her life anyhow. i mean that's what we've been seeing already at that time of the drama but this scene specifically stood out to me. this ain't no cdrama, it's a c-trauma (in a good way). plus i also loved the miao miao and zhang guan (the security guard) characters so much. the way zhang guan did so much even if he actually doesn't even know yu nian or shen cheng personally 😭 i also loved that they emphasized the other characters' storylines too (i actually cried to cha and xin's last meeting too lol). another thing, i actually have only watched c-dramas starring zhou yiran, he's my fav c-actor (you can guess lol). he's been really delivering us some REAL GOOD dramas lately, not only his acting but the story lines!!?? i wasn't even over Reborn and this hit like a truck now 😭 his script selections are pure golddddd. now, finally, if anyone's reading this far of my review and haven't watched this show yet, PLEASE watch it. PLEASE. you'll have no regrets, not a single second of watching this masterpiece wasted. thank you.

This drama will make you go through a heart break but it's worth it

Bittersweet is the only word that go through my mind when I think about this drama. So sad but so pure at the same time.
The plot could've been better that's true but the drama's a true masterpiece with the acting (Zhou Yiran and Wang Yinglu ate and left no crumbs), the OST, the cinematography. As I write this review I'm still blown up by this drama.

1. A'Tang & A'Xun

My babies, they lived such difficult lives across all the timelines but the fact that they found themselves and treated each other as the family they never had is so comforting, I think that's why ep 6 is my fav all the whole drama. Their love story is so subtle, so pure but so deep, I think it's one of the most beautiful romance I've ever seen. I'm even so emotional when I writing those words thinking about them. All of this makes ep 8 even more heartbreaking, to think fate is so cruel that it can separate two people so emotionally connected. But at last, they finally triumphed, win against fate and had their happy ending.

2. Yu Nian & Shen Cheng

I'm not gonna lie, they annoyed and stressed me on the first episodes because of their behaviour but I suppose they were acting like this out of love for their parents. They grew on me throughout the drama and honestly their ending makes the story so bittersweet. Although we didn't see much of Shen Cheng's childhood with Haitang, seeing Xun becoming Yu Nian's father, how their bond formed makes the ending so heartbreaking for her.
But I respect their decision to make their parents happy together for once in their life even if the result is sad.

3. small bad point

The plot was confusing sometimes I'm not gonna lie. I don't know if the writer wanted it to appear like that to let to the interpretation to the viewers or something like this. However I like it more when things are detailed don't let too much interpretation. How the mail box appeared ? How the old Xun understood there's something with the mail box ? I also thinks the multiple timelines should've been well more explained. But the theories I've read are fun, I'll pick the one I like the most and makes my heart less heartbroken .

Anyway it was great drama, tough, emotional because of what the characters goes through but it worth you're time, so I recommend it to everyone 🩷🥹.

A Thrilling Yet Unique Story: Always Follow Your Heart, No Regrets!

Twelve Letters will having you questioning whether it's worth watching this drama until the very end, and let me tell you - YES it is. It's literally only 12 episodes, quite short for a cdrama, but every thing is all worth. It is set in both 1991 and 2026 where both leads in respective timelines are corresponding with one another through a very magical mailbox along with a special cat.
There is domestive violence involved as well as physical assault on underage children.
The drama follows two tragic senior high school students navigating through life without family and only have each other. We watch their love for one another grow from being just platonic, to being family, and then genuine romantic love. The thrill ride really had me on my seat because I was losing hope up until the final episode.

The acting was amazing! I think this is Zhou Yi Ran's best acting project to date, because there was one scene that stood out for me, yes he gets mad often but I could feel the desperation in his voice and expression! He wants to protect the one person he holds dear to his heart! The leads did not hit it off on the right foot, however, what surprised me is Tang Yi Xun (Zhou Yi Ran) is nothing as we initially thought he was. He's very empathetic, and protective towards Ye Hai Tang(Wang Yinglu, he understands how much she has suffered through hands of her horrendous father. Since that day forward, he swore that he will try his very best to protect his girl from hardship and give her the happiness she deserves. And he did not lie about that.

Ye Hai Tang's life is just tragic. Prepare your tissues because this girls deserves all the love in the world. Granted, there are times when I wish her teacher would put two and two together and see there is something wrong AT HOME. How does the teacher turn a blind eye when she sees Hai Tang outside of class - all happy especially with Yixun- but then with her father she goes BERSERK? The neighbors also turns a blind eye and knowing Chinese communities and their love for gossip, surely someone should've said something about the father going gambling and what not? What aboout the loan sharks that's always going to their house? It's just these situations that makes this drama a bit flawed in my opinion. Back to the acting, Wang Yinglu did a great in this role, I have seen the BTS on RedNote and she nearly injured herself badly just fighting with the dad. She put in a lot of effort into this role! Wang's portrayal of Haitang is very strong, and confrontation. However, she doesn't know her limits at all. She acts with her feelings a lot of the times, granted there are times when she doesn't. I honestly can't imagine her life without Yi Xun, because Yi Xun is usually there in the nick of time whenever she's in deep trouble with her father. I am just glad that she managed to live the life she wanted regardless of the ending.

The 2026 leads were a bit irritating to watch at times especially the future son, Shen Cheng (Ren You Lun). The way he kept talking to Yu Nian (Zheng He Hui Zi) was quite rude, and very entitled as if he's the smarter guy and he knows what's right and logical, etc. Bro couldn't let loose for one second and listen to the poor lady. And honestly, I feel like he wasn't even one of the 1991 leads' son because he might've been a step son. The final episode kind of confirmed my suspicions anyways.

Both timeline leads corresponded with one another, one needed answers to the puzzle of their missing parents while the other is just curous about the future. Without spoiling much, I would say this drama ended on a good note. I honestly wish there was more like an epilogue - well we got it, but I wanted more. LOL

Happy ending? Yes!
Would I recommend this drama?Definitely recommend if you enjoy watching thriller, suspense, and mysterious genres. There's romance but tthat is not the focus, it's just a very natural love story where the leads are always there for one another and protective of each other. But if you're looking for romance focused story, this is not for you.

Hope will find its way as long as you live

A very touching story of hardship and hoping to have apeaceful life.

A Tang and a Xun life was never easy. Even the people surrounding them have difficult lives. They have different struggles in life, but at the same time, they have dreams of what the future holds.

I applauded all the characters, especially the leads. Ahhhh... A Tang's acting was wonderful and stunning; I got goosebumps. Such a wonderful actress.

I love all the characters in the past and future. One of my favorites is Zhang Guan, the guard. I love that they added focus on other characters like him that contribute to the outcome of the story. Love when I see Cha Dong in a boat and Xhang Hao with his lovely wife... Even the manager of the bookstore had a moment where he stood up for the others.

I must admit, I rarely engage with this genre due to its unpredictable nature. And definitely, this is a HIT! will watch this again in the future. It is a comfort drama. Reflecting on our life, we must be grateful to be able to experience a little blissful life compared to others. that almost don't have a chance to experience that.

Wonderful drama. Deserve an applause...

Rsrsr

Sofferenza, speranza e crescita personale!

Eu amei!!!
