Obssesion is the keyword!
I’d been looking forward to a C-drama like this for a long time. It’s been ages since a show managed to hook me this much — probably not since The Prisoner of Beauty.Everything about this series was amazing: the pacing, the lack of filler episodes, the chemistry between the main characters, and the well-balanced screentime. It’s one of those dramas where you can clearly see the difference in depth between the leads and the supporting cast.
The obsession I feel for this drama is actually comparable to the kind of obsession some of the characters feel, and I think that emotion was portrayed so well on screen. The relationship between the leads is also so beautiful that it makes you fall in love with both of them.
I’ve loved Lu YuXiao since My Journey to You, she’s such a versatile actress. But in this drama, I completely fell for Hou Minghao. Oh my god! I had never seen him before, and now I can’t stop watching his work. He’s such a talented actor, and you can really tell how much effort and emotion he puts into every role.

Sometimes really frustrating
There's few things that i would like to address. In the beginning the main leads relationship was amazing. The teasing, tension, chemistry was great. But the constant lies and deception make me bored, there's no REAL progress because while Ji Bozai already did everything even sacrifice his life for her, Ming Yi on the other hand keep lying, afraid and just crying looking at him while he got divine punishment in front of her eyes. And from there they keep this cycle of breaking up - lying - noble idiocy (sacrifice) - making up again. Even 2nd couple Princess Tianji and Xiao Yan relationship was so much better in the first half, they were angsty, painful, full of yearning and betrayal but got boring so fast when they start getting together.
For immortals and fairy i notice they didn't use their power that much, or is it just me?. For a supposed to be xianxia drama, they rarely fight something and use their power. ML and FL is supposed to be one of the greatest warrior but they're quite easy to defeat for some reason.
The final villain isn't that great either. We know his struggle and painful life but it's hard to sympathize with him because he keep being so delusional until the end. It's like the build up for the final villain isn't that amazing or powerful. The first antagonist was a better villain.

unnecessary misunderstanding and subpar plot
Love in the Clouds started off okay the visuals are stunning, the chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and the setup promised an emotional, romantic journey. Unfortunately, the story quickly loses focus, weighed down by unnecessary secrets and a storyline that drags far longer than it should. From episodes 1 to 23, the female lead repeatedly avoids telling the truth, even when she has countless chances to come clean. What could have been an honest, heartfelt revelation turns into a frustrating cycle of avoidance and misunderstanding. It feels less like natural character development and more like the writers were stretching the plot to fill episodes.
The pacing is inconsistent, and certain subplots appear only to disappear without resolution, making the story feel confusing at times. Despite this, the acting is solid the leads carry their roles with sincerity and manage to keep viewers emotionally invested, even when the script doesn’t fully support them.

A beautiful romance set within an engaging backdrop
Little touches that made it more grounded for me in the way they talked to each other (she said “what are you doing here?” He replied “meddling”) and the natural way they acted with each other (she holds his hands down easily as she forces her blood into him)A story that was not totally original but had some nice little surprises and twists. A 2nd ML that became a textbook villain was easily overlooked as there was so much more to enjoy from the costumes and sets to the above average CGI. Loved the hair styles* too!
ML shines as usual and his eyes just melt my heart each time he looks at the her. FL was the standout from playing a flirtatious fairy to finally being her true self - the way she talks and walks changes and it was so natural. After all, she grew up posing as a male so I’m glad they didn’t make her end up ladylike like some dramas do.
Their romance was beautiful even when it was painful. The scene in the rain was very well done.
What brings this drama to the next level was the relationship each of them had with their companion beasts. So much development and growth especially for 27. Watch how he reacts to her and how they just know each other so well. I can’t think of any other drama’s companion beast that has such depth of understanding and banter.
A nice ending and I’m happy to rewatch this again in future for the beautiful romance and touching relationships with the companion beasts.
*can’t stand other drama’s male characters who have hairstyles that have 2 long clumps of hair hanging from either side of their temple. This drama does it beautifully especially on the 2nd ML.
FL’s loose flowy hairstyle is gorgeous without the dangly bits (that seem to follow Bailu in the past few dramas). FL’s hairstyle changes to a neater version when her identity is exposed - nice touch!

catch me in this fantasy world to find my own warrior
Where do I even start….EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!!! The casting was amazing and I loved how they portrayed their characters. The side charcters were well developed too cause I was literally giggling over every interaction the princess had with her man. The plot was so engaging and hooked me in immediately too. AND THE SLOW BURN ENEMIES TO LOVERS OMGGGG!!! I would literally do anything for the female lead because I loved how complex she was. Same for the male lead because both were flawed in their own way, but were still made for each other. I’m dipping my toes into this genre still, but I have never enjoyed any show like this one. I will def rewatch some time in the future. <3Was this review helpful to you?
Excellent Xianxia, addictive, with magnificent Neo Hou and Lu Yu Xiao
PLOT: FL, a super warrior and "fake" Crown Prince of a kingdom, is poisoned and loses the Great Warrior Competition against ML, a former slave, warrior from another kingdom. FL secretly leaves her country to get closer to ML and obtain the antidote. She gradually grows closer and eventually marries him. But everyone wants this magical treatement (especially the enemies of the kingdom and neighboring kingdoms, who want world domination).+++ Magnificent CL with Neo Hou and Lu Yu Xiao, who have great chemistry.
+++ Fast-paced direction, with no dull moments. The cinematography is beautiful (costumes, sets, fight scenes, lighting, effects, etc.).
### The CGI isn't top-notch, especially the cat, and the green screens are often too obvious.
+++ Excellent OST.
+++ A relatively coherent story, with fairly classic twists (struggle for succession, obsessive unrequited love, greed for absolute power, sacrifice, etc.), but it's well executed.
=> Excellent Xianxia with a CL I'd love to see again soon.

+++ OSTs excellentes.

A Heavenly Blend of Chemistry, Charm, and CGI
Totally fell in love with every single thing about the drama!!! Absolutely loved it! The details are amazing. I literally couldn't stop watching it. There wasn't a moment that I felt bored while I was watching this drama.A Masterpiece I dare say, this drama includes everything enemies-lovers, comedy, stunning visuals, amazing plot and the cast caried the whole story so well.
And can we take a moment to appreciate the visuals absolute fest for eyes. The main leads chemistry ugh....so freaking good! This is not a typical drama where you watch the ML protect the FL every single time, they both protect each other and trust each other so much.
In xianxia mostly the ending goes like one of the leads die and the other lead waits for them to be reborn/reincarnated and I did expect the same from this drama too. But the ending absolutely blew my mind away it was unseen and it couldn't get any more perfect ending imo. They both decide to go through everything together life or death and they overcome it.
Also I wanted to mention the 2nd ML although I was kind of annoyed with him at the start with the stalking and trying to get her with force, the ending threw me away I was nearly sobbing. No matter what I thought of him in the beginning the ending slightly changed my perspective. He had all the power he needed at the end but when he saw he trying to sacrifice herself he probably regretted it. And his last words my god I felt so bad for him. He wasn't a bad person but his obsession and the others made him that way.
A must-watch if you ask me. If you're looking for something fresh with with a hint of everything in it definitely go for it!

Loved this drama so much!!?❤️❤️
This was the best CDrama I’ve seen this year or I can say ever. I’ve never been so drawn to a CDrama that makes me wish the day would go by fast every day just so I can see the next episodes. I’m totally going to rewatch this a bunch of times. I can’t get enough of the ML and FL chemistry together. Love them so much!! I’m hoping and praying that they get the chance to play in more dramas together in the future and I’m sure I’m not the only one, because I surely will be one of the people sitting front row center watching them and their chemistry all over again. Thanks for this CDrama!❤️Was this review helpful to you?
Ming Yi & Ji Bo Zai Own My Entire Heart
This drama is INSANE. I swear it’s one of the best Chinese dramas in 2025!! Totally worth the long wait cuz it’s just THAT good!!I’m so so obsessed with Ming Yi and Ji Bo Zai like omg their love is CRAZY. They’re so wild and dramatic together, I couldn’t even look at any other couple lol the romance between them is overflowing, literally feeding my soul….
The early episodes?? Perfection. They’re dramatic in the funniest way possible and Ming Yi being all clingy?? I was screaming she’s sooo cute 😭
And don’t even get me started on Minghao as Ji Bo Zai… HE’S SO FINE 😭🔥 handsome, cool, everything. Then Lu Yu Xiao as Ming Yi PERFECT. I can’t imagine anyone else playing them, they just are the characters.
The plot is so good too, like every episode makes you wanna click “next” right away. No boring moments at all, everything feels just right. Plus the visuals so aesthetic, it’s pure eye candy…
AND YES it’s a HAPPY ENDING I really thought Ji Bo Zai would sacrifice himself but nope!! He and Ming Yi saved the six realms together like true power couple 😭🫶 and omg the drunk clingy Ji Bo Zai at the end?? ICONIC. Early eps we got clingy Ming Yi, then at the end we got clingy Ji Bo Zai… my heart is full.
I love this drama SO MUCH. Definitely rewatching cuz it’s totally worth it, like 100% rewatch material.

Delivered beyond expectations.
102725I’ve been anticipating this drama ever since I saw filming clips on TikTok, and it immediately became one of those dramas I knew i had to watch as soon as it got released. Take note, I rarely write reviews as I usually share my thoughts in the comment section, but this series truly deserves one from me.
Starting with the cast — simply outstanding. The visuals, chemistry, and overall performance were top-notch. Every actor/actress fit their role perfectly, and even the villains were portrayed so well that I found it hard to hate them. Each character was distinct and endearing in their own way. My only minor issue was with the second lead’s character arc—it leaned too heavily into obsession toward the end. While I did feel sympathy for him, that part of the story felt unnecessarily stretched.
As for the plot, it wasn’t particularly unique, but it was well-written and cohesive. Compared to other dramas, especially in the Wu Xia genre, this one was easy to follow and emotionally engaging from start to finish. It’s just a pity that the show was shortened from 40 episodes to 36 (or that certain scenes were cut) as a longer version could have provided more depth and balance to some plot points.
The OST was another standout. The soundtrack perfectly complemented the drama’s tone, and I’ve been listening to the songs on repeat ever since.
Overall, I’d rate it 9.5/10. Despite minor flaws, they don’t overshadow how much I loved the drama. I highly recommend watching it.
