Loved everything about it
This year has been a drama slump for me, couldn't seem to really get into dramas this year and only a few of them have really left an impression on me, this drama being one of them. To me it was a refreshing change of plot without the usual tropes being involved. In most dramas, I tend to find the secondary plot a bit of a drag, terribly sorry to most dramas, but I do not care what the villain is up to, like leave me guessing or just don't show the evil dude, like I really could not care at all what he is up to. And I hate to admit that I am like this with secondary leads as well. I am here for the main plot and no supporting characters that take up most of the screen time. I know the evil dude and the plots have big roles but could I care ? Not one bit. There is stupidity in either main plot, evil dude story or secondary plot. I can't handle stupidity x3. Glad to say this isn't one of these dramas and that really helped me out of said slump.I love the visuals and the writing of this. I love how both leads are powerful in their own right. It really is rare to see leads be powerful in an equal setting, most of the time it is the ml being more powerful and resourceful than the fl, which is nice but gets a bit boring for me. I love it when a fl is powerful and can equally match the ml in terms of power and it is justified too. She was a crown prince and a general. Like yes she is that girl.
I also love the shameless of the ml, I do not like leng bing bing mls, and I am happy to say that ji bozai did not disappoint. The female lead also had her own moments and really matched the vibe of the couple well. I just feel like leads pairing really was so good and evenly matched. One thing that does bother is how some people were saying like the fl should've told the ml sooner about being poisoned and for that I have to say like I loved that she held out on her secret for as long as she did, to me it was nice to see that she try to solve her inner conflict about either dying or betraying him, for as long as she did. To me it showed that she didn't take the matter lightly.
Also, the fact that she held onto her secret of being ming xian for as long as she did, consider me impressed. Usually, the ml would like figure it out instantly or just within a short period of time, but girly held tight to that secret like her life depended on it, cause it did, like if she revealed it, she would be betraying him as her previously mentioned secret would be exposed. I love it when a plot, like actually plots and puts importance on the small things. I also love the angst that came with it.
Basically there is not much that I do not love about this drama. Only the airing schedule that was a pain and a half, what do you men one episode a day for some days? That is over as it is completed.

Great Watch
I am so glad Yu Cheng En got to play the villain. I am so used to seeing him play all the puppy roles. But I could not take him serious because of it. The plot was plotting.. But who can hate that cherub looking face. I wish I got to see who would actually win at the end. Between the Main characters. I wish I got to see them married, take on roles in the kingdom and have kids. This is a Open endingWas this review helpful to you?

When Champion Falls and a Rebel Rises: The Hidden Game of Love Begins
🟡PlotLove in the Clouds is a fantasy-romance drama set in a world where there are Six Realms — Yaoguang Mountain, Jixing Abyss, Flowing Wave Gorge, Zhushui Spiritual State, Mangfu Swamp and Cangwu Hill. At the annual Qingyun Conference of the Hexu Six Realms, Ming Xian (also known as Ming Yi), the cold and proud War Goddess of Yaoguang Mountain, had reigned undefeated for seven years — until she was unexpectedly defeated by Ji Bozai, a warrior from the Jixing Abyss with a notorious past as a convict. The incident sent shockwaves through all Six Realms, but few knew the truth behind her fall: Ming Yi had been secretly poisoned. To find the antidote, known as the Golden Millet Dream, she must venture deep into the dangerous Jixing Abyss. Meanwhile, Ji Bozai’s victory propels him to fame, making him the brightest rising star of the Abyss. Concealing her divine identity, Ming Yi assumes the guise of a dancer to approach Ji Bozai’s world —Behind their masks of charm and cunning, the two embark on a dangerous game — a seductive battle of wits, secrets, and irresistible attraction.

🔵Strong Chemistry Between the Leads- Hou Minghao (Neo Hou) and Lu Yuxiao deliver captivating performances with subtle emotional tension. Their dynamic — from rivals to reluctant allies to star-crossed lovers — feels natural and layered. I especially praise the “slow burn” progression of their relationship, full of mistrust, attraction, and hidden emotion.
🔵Stunning Visuals and Production Design- The drama’s cinematography, costumes, and set design are often described as cinematic and immersive. The Six Realms world is beautifully realized, blending fantasy and historical aesthetics seamlessly.
Every frame — from misty mountain battles to elegant palace halls — feels meticulously crafted.
🔵Compelling Storyline with Intrigue- Unlike many xianxia romances, Love in the Clouds adds layers of political maneuvering, hidden identities, and moral ambiguity. The spy-versus-spy tension between Ming Yi and Ji Bozai keeps the plot unpredictable and emotionally charged. Viewers enjoy the mix of romance, mystery, and strategy rather than a purely love-focused narrative.
🔵Emotional Payoff and Symbolism- Every interaction carries dual meaning — what’s said versus what’s hidden. The motif of “clouds” symbolizes both illusion and transcendence, adding poetic layers to the story.
🟡Dislike
🔵My only complaint is.... The early episodes progress at a slow pace, offering minimal action or clear momentum. the story truly gains traction only around episodes 8 to 10, when the main plot and character dynamics begin to unfold.
🔵Another point — I personally don’t think Yu Cheng’en is suited for villain roles. By the end of the drama, I just couldn’t see him as the antagonist. He gives off strong "green flag second male lead / main lead” energy instead. His face and overall vibe fit more of a soft, lovable "puppy” type than a menacing villain. 😂

🟡Verdict
If you’re a fan of xuanhuan/fantasy-romance dramas, Love in the Clouds offers a blend of emotional intrigue, spectacle, and character complexity. It’s not just another “save the world” fantasy; the stakes are personal—identity, betrayal, trust. What stands out is the dual nature of the protagonists: both are strategists with secrets, which makes their chemistry and interaction more interesting. That said, if you prefer fast-moving plots or romances that are immediately “open and honest”, this might feel a bit slow or ambiguous initially. But give it some episodes (around 5-10) and it tends to deliver more in the mid-to-late arcs.

Better and better as the story goes…
The beginning of the story is a little dull and confusingly slow but …storyline picks up with more interesting elements after episode 5-6. Overall ~very interesting and entertaining drama. This is the first couple connections between Hau MingHao & Lu YuXiao 🥰 & they definitely have good chemistry with each other. Visual interactions are also quite enticing. Was this review helpful to you?

When the universe’s Top 2 Warriors fall in love and combine their joint slay
(Long review contains a lot of spoilers)When i started the show i didn’t really know what to expect. I knew it was gonna be xianxia and i’ll like the production based on the visuals alone. But not only is LITC a gorgeous gorgeous show, it’s also super fun and entertaining to watch!! I was throughly invested every ep!! The plot is not super new or complicated, but i enjoyed every arc! There are some conflicts but never too dragging. And of course we got true Happy Ending which is 10/10 in my book. 🤧🤧
Directing and editing is also great! Obvi when it comes to xianxia visuals are so important, and i think directors did a great job at weaving a cinematic show 😃😃 everything really is so dreamy, and love scenes are so romantic!
I also loveee this OST!! Every track is a bop!! 😃😃 my favs are “If Your World Had No Sunshine” by Hou Minghao and “Pretending It’s Nothing”, Lu Yuxiao ver!! (yes im basic and biased 🙈🙈 BUT THE SONGS ARE GOOD! 😭😭
Characters commentary / analysis
The characters are endearing to me. Even villains i have beef with don’t make me wanna punch the screen too much 😭💀 (cough cough, Situ Ling 💀💀).
Ming Yi is officially my top 5 FLs ever!! A powerful, strong but also sensitive, compassionate, funny, and suuuper adorable!! Ming Yi is a well written heroine to root for! The show starts with MY being at the top of her game and fall to the bottom, then as the story progresses, MY gradually regains her strength and former glory, finding her enemies and seeking justice. It’s such a classic revenge hero archetype that can’t go wrong.😃😃
Ji Bozai is such a physically and mentally strong character, yet also able to be soft and vulnerable. Contrast with Ming Yi, JBZ begins his story at the absolute bottom of the world, a prisoner, a slave, weak and close to death. He then progresses his character development by being saved, training good and eventually become the top warrior, with the aim to find his enemies and destroy them. Also the revenge protagonist archetype like Ming Yi, but even more tragic 😭.
But the show actually starts with Ji Bozai coming from ‘nowhere’ and stealing Ming Yi’s thunder. Their trajectory started in opposite directions. As Ming Yi’s loses spark, Ji Bozai gains his, for the first time ever!
Ming Yi 📉 Ji Bozai 📈.
Though unintentionally on JBZ’s part, this puts him and Ming Yi at enemies ends of the spectrum. This twisted beginning is the basis for the majority of their conflict in the first half of the show 😭 A relationship based on lies is bound to hurt 😭 those lies are gonna bounce back to the liar and it’ll be too late to fix. 🥲
Although that kind of miscommunication bothers many, i find it in character for Ming Yi to hide her Ming Xian idenitity for as long as she did. MY could never burden JBZ with her quest to find Huang Liang Meng, that is her sacrificial personality. MY could never show her love truly to JBZ, that’s on her traumatised past 🥲. JBZ lost all trust in MY’s feelings for him after her stealing HLM despite everything she did to protect him before? That’s his traumatised past. JBZ hiding his decision to sacrifice himself for the Sky-Swallowing Array? That’s his sacrificial personality 😭.
It’s funny how similar Mingzai are, that even their conflict and miscommunication happen cuz they both share traumatised and sacrificial personalities 😭
That’s cuz lore behind Mingzai soulmatism ties together well. Them being born the same day and the baby switch?? I love that! 😃 is it cliche? A lil bit. But it makes sense to me 😃
And Mingzai romance?? Top 5 cdrama couples of all time in my book 😩😩🔥🔥 the way their flirting make me squeal and giggle so hard, their seperation make me cry, their divorce era make me laugh 😭 their back and forth yoyo romance make the Marriage Stone take a sigh 🤣🤣
But truly they got all my fav tropes and execute them perfectly! Rivals to lovers? Check ✅ Romeo and Juliet? Check ✅ He falls first and falls harder? Check ✅ Hidden Identity? Check ✅ 2 family-less characters finding family in each other? Check ✅
😃😃
Even their yoyo romance was so fun to watch cuz no matter what, we watchers know he’ll come crawling back to her anyways 😭🤣 after telling her to get away from him too, mind you 😭🤣 Mingzai also got all the milestones my previous 2 xianxias didn’t 😭 not only did they kiss, they also mukbang 😛😛 and even MARRIED OFFICIALLY AGAIN!! 😃😃 previously with LGIEF, not even a KISS 😭😭 i ate vegan food 🥲 LBFAD have many kisses, but no mukbang and 2 failed weddings where Xiao Lanhua was engaged to Changheng 😭😭 that’s why LITC is peak for not making me eat vegan again 😭🤣🤣 djjdjd
Shoutout Lu Yuxiao and Hou Minghao! 😃😃 Been seated for this show before i even watch any LYX drama and by the time i sat down for LITC i alr watched 2 with her as the lead 😂😂 Perfect Match and Serendipity (both are mid alas 😭 altho i actually like PM more, surprisingly 😃). Never saw HMH but he’s kinda fav-in-law a bit 😭. Lu Yuxiao really becomes one of my favs, tho i alr like her before watching any of her shows, i just like her vibes 🤭🤭 but LITC really sealed the deal for me. This is peak LYX 😃😃😃 her ability to be playful and cute and switch to a strong tough warrior is seamless. Also my fav thing about LYX is how dynamic her eye acting is 😃 she can tell sm with just her eyes, and that’s so important to me!! Also lovee the crying scenes sm 😭😭 every single Ming Yi cry scene makes me cry, but the worst one must be Ershiqi’s death 😭 bro LYX crying got me sobbing so hard 😭😭 that was such good heartfelt acting!! Anyhow i just love Lu Yuxiao 🥹🥹.
First time with HMH and he impressed me! I really like his performance as Ji Bozai 😃 pretty good crier too actually! A notable scene is the Xun Ming losing Xinliu illusory dream 😭😭 this was so sad and HMH was acting his ass off 😭
LYX and HMH also have insane chemistry 😩😩🔥🔥 love that 😃😃.

Sm yapping, next up is 1 of fav second couples ever 😃 Jixiao Mu Tianji and Yan Xiao served childhood sweethearts and second chance romance so hard 🥹🥹 I’ve been rooting for them since their first interaction! Even when they’re in their angst era, we can tell they have deep history and potential to be a good couple, and writers deliver 😃😃 Yan Xiao was such a 2 faced character at first, seemingly hates corruption but is working for the n1 corrupt politician in the land 😭😭 he obvi has feelings for Tianji but is conspiring her her uncle who want her and her father gone?? But then the reveal of him being double spy? Writers ate that 😌😌!
Shoutout Quan Yilun and He Nan!! This is my 4th QYL show, might as well be his stan 😛😛 usually a supporting role but as always, QYL got everyone’s attention with that majestic face card and emotional eyes 🤭🤭 he’s such a dreamy romantic partner, need him in more romance pls 😭😭 the only one he was the lead in was Echoes of the Self, and it was good but short 😭 hope he gets long drama lead sometime soon 😃😃
He Nan is sooo pretty 😩😩 also she alternates between a soft flirty girl to a majestic and authoritative Empress so well! HN also has this mocking smile face that just makes Tianji such an interesting character!!

Next, our SML Situ Ling 🙂🙂
This is a clasic case of obssessive SML turned villain and he’s defo up there with Chu Zhao and Su Rongqing in terms of most punchable, but he has redeemable qualities and somewhat understandable trauma 😭 So still annoying but not the most ig 🙃.
Shoutout Yu Chengen 😃😃 ive been lowkey simping for him ever since Situ Ling started turning evil 😝 not only is his face card smth serious, he also suits traumatized psycho more than i thought 😃 i dont think another actor would’ve been able to salvage STL like he did 😭
Not a true villain either, but by association is Fuyue. This is such a classic case of tragic second female lead character 😭 though she still has interesting aspects to her personality and character building, Fuyue’s main purpose throughout the show is very much a prop to other characters. First she was a segway introducing Ming Yi to Jixing Abyss, then a sidekick and unrequited love interest to Situ Ling, then the character driving some of the plot forward, providing information and help 😭 she really is just there to save STL a few times and serve to be a his own reflection he never bothers to look at: someone exactly like him in everyway, bullied, weak, underrated, abandoned, even down to the painful obssessive love with someone who don’t love them back 😭 in the end Fuyue left STL, but now that he’s dead, he’ll forever be her bai yue guang, the one who inhabits her most cherished memory 🥲 such a pitiful fate, but im somewhat so glad she didn’t kill herself to save STL, it’s such a cliche i dislike 😭😭 (although she defo burned a few of her years on him 😭).
—
Bo Yulan is another character that gets mixed opinions 😭 personally i see her as a tragic mother figure 🥲 yes she had no bio children but she did raised Ji Bozai for a minute.
Imo we gotta remember Ji Bozai forgives Bo Yulan and tho he was hurt upon learning the truth, never held it against her. Her atonement outweighs her sins in his heart. JBZ understands BYL is a victim of his own mother’s greed. The whole Bo fam suffered enough 😭
—
Other supporting casts worth mentioning: the found family!! Gotta talk about Ershiqi, the cutest cat/ baby brother everrr 🥺🥺 his temporary death got me sobbing 😭😭😭 pretty sacrificial but Ershiqi serve as a comedic side kick and his death was a turning point in Ming Yi’s life as well: beginning of divorce era and MY’s past and origins reveals.
Ershiqi’s Ji Bizai’s counterpart is Buxiu. Another sidekick character, defo brother type relationship with Ji Bozai too, although they have a more boss-employee vibe too 😭 Buxiu is pretty cool as a dragon, his fight with Mu Qibai and Ming Yi’s help was a strong highlight! Also him and Ershiqi fighting sequence together was pretty cool too! 😃😃
Shout out to Granny Xun. The grandma Ji Bozai never kmew he needed 😭😭 although she mostly just serves comic relief and grandma figure, still a very endearing character 🥹🥹
Also shout out to old man Master She Tianlin 😂😂 ngl at first I thought this guy is a villain 😭 smth about his behavior seems sus 😭 but the reveal that he’s actually Ming Yi’s birth father actially touches me 🥺🥺 i like this plot direction more for sure 😂 also he’s just a bit of comic relief at times, a quirky guy who loves his daughter and her late mother 🥲🥲.
Another major character i love sm is Zhang Tai! What a cutie 😽😽!! She really is the sister Ming Yi never knew she needed 🤧🤧 tho sometimes vain and naive, Zhang Tai is a caring friend and loyal companion. Even being heavily tortured, ZT wouldn’t reveal a thing about Ming Yi!! Her biggest mistake is falling for Xun Ming, but it gave her a lesson. This arc was also particularly profound to me, cuz i find Xinliu’s fate to be such a tragic and cautionary tale 😢. Seeing how Ming Yi and Zhang Tai freed and uplifted Xinliu’s soul really got to me 😢😢.
Also this was my Coroner’s Diary sisters’ reunion, Qin Shuang and Qin Xiang, aka Pan Junya and Wang Junbi 😃😃 this time around they don’t beef anymore, but help each other 🥹🥹
Talk about comic relief, shout out to Meng Yangqiu and Chen Xi 😂😂 this himbo rascal and his baby brother 😂😂 love how Meng Yangqiu is basically Jixiao’s son 🤣🤣 Chen Xi is a cutie pie 🥹 yet so strong! My Jixing Warriors love them 🤧🤧
—
Aside from Situ Ling, other villains are also entertaining to watch. Shout out to lord Hanfeng Mu Qibai aka ‘Bai’er’ 🤣🤣 truly the most pitiful villain 🤣🤣 all his employees betray him, and his best minions died for him in vain 😭💀💀🤣
That being said, i am annoyed how easy Mu Qibai’s death was. He just poof and gone 🥴 was it poetic irony in terms of karma and narrative progression? Yes. Was it justice served? No 🥴.
About Zhushui Emperor Chao Heng, maybe we could’ve delve more into him, but the short backstory with Lin Ziyao was enough lore for me 🙃🙃 imo he’s the worst guy in the whole show, greedy and evil. Should’ve been final big bad instead of Situ Ling but whatever 😭💀
Altho not regarded as villains by the show, the Yaoguang royal fam are whole other level of annoying and ungrateful!! First Empress Jing Shu basically forcing Bo Yulan to give up her niece and then not even treating this child right. Then Ming Xin and his mother poisoning Ming Yi. Worst of all is the Emperor who dgaf, but the moment sht hits the fan uses Ming Yi’s own weapons to torture her 😡!!
I’m annoyed how in the end no retribution happened to Emperor and Empress. Ming Xin is dead, Madam Meng is imprisoned, but Empress Jing Shu got away scot free?? Just cuz Ji Bozai asked it 😭
2 things to consider ig:
1/ Ji Bozai though has no feelings for his birth mother for all the pain she caused him with her abandonment, can see the complicated relationship she has with Ming Yi. The show ends with MY asking about Empress Jing Shu’s wellbeing, so they’re on good terms now. This pmo a bit but i can look past it 🫠 after all, happy endings require a certain compromised balance where one or more of the annoying perpertrators get a lighter sentence than they deserve (even more so when they’re a parent 🫠🫠 smth smth taoist piety idk. 😭😭)
2/ They don’t wanna make Ji Bozai the heir to the throne 😭 therefore they can’t have too much bad beef with the Yaoguang royal family, cuz now that Ming Xin is gone, Ji Bozai gotta take over. But if he doesn’t want to, then Emperor continues to rule, in all his ignorance and prejudice i guess 🥴🥴💀
—
Now that i’ve mentioned all the mother figures, let’s talk about the last one - the woman who haunts the narrative: Bo Yucen. Appearing for a total of 1 episode, BYC’s role is to answer so many questions about the most uprooting event in Mingzai’s life: the baby switch 😭 Bo Yucen is the mother Ming Yi never knew, who would’ve loved her, the one who gave her such strong spiritual veins. She Tianlin’s love, the Bo family descendant, the mother Ming Yi met her once and when MY knew the truth, her tears hurt me almost more than it hurts her 😭😭
Bo Yucen is a classic tragic woman archetype, the “wife that dies at the beginning of movie”, similar to characters like Fantine in Les Misérables or Fengxian in The Apothecary Diaries. Her existence is to highlight how tragic and ironic Ming Yi’s (and Ji Bozai’s) fate really is, through how tragic *her* fate is. All Bo Yucen did was love a man outside of her own realm, and the price she had to pay was not only her own life, but her daughter’s as well.
And that’s my Love in the Clouds review 😃😃 this was a long ass essay 😭😭 Overall, truly one of my fav dramas! 10/10!! Mingzai is one of my fav couples fr, and my fav cdrama couple of 2025 🥹🥹! I’ll probably come back to LITC from time to time. But for now, Goodbye Love in the Clouds 🥹🥹🤧🤧🫶

Wholesome Drama
This drama was fantastic. Excellent choices for the cast. The chemistry was phenomenal. The music is fire. The story is well written. FX are great, combat scenes are amazing, costume choices are on point. The only complaint I could make is Situ Ling's story. I really really fell for him. From his background, to the pain he suffered from so called family, his unrequited love and how horribly it turned. I know every story needs a villain but damnit they could have chosen another. I seriously questioned why someone so sweet had to ultimately become the villain. I could have done with a different ending than to see him fall from grace after the suffering he went through. But still, definitely a must watch. Was this review helpful to you?

Love entrapped in LIES.....BUT hearts ❤️❤️remain SINCERE
I honestly loved watching this drama; I enjoyed each moment and kept anticipating more. 😍😍 The BEST WUXIA.....💯💯SYNOPSIS
The story begins with the Qingyun Tournament, in which the ML and FL compete. The FL gets poisoned and loses the tournament. She discovers that the ML has the antidote and sets out on a journey to retrieve it. This journey leads to the entanglement of the FL and ML in a web of lies and deception...🕸🕸🕸
*JI BOZAI (ML): 😍🤩I loved this character the most. Sincere, soft-hearted, and genuine. He redefined love as a selfless gesture. (Love is doing something without expecting anything in return.) He kept falling for the FL's lies and tricks, which may look frustrating, but one cannot hate this character.
*MING YI (FL):🤪🫠 Quick-witted, funny, and has a lot of tricks up her sleeve. She may be an annoying character who lies to the ML quite a bunch of times and doesn't clear the misunderstandings between them. Though lying is not good in a relationship, her heart was always sincere toward the ML. (One can say her mouth speaks one thing and her heart speaks otherwise.)
*Their relationship began with lies. Then they used each other and kept testing each other. The ML fell first, and the FL got entrapped in her lies and fell harder. Both of them tore each other apart, but these two souls can never really be apart.
*The story is very simple and fast-paced. The romantic moments—them teasing each other and publicly displaying their emotions—add spice to the show and make the audience crave more.😍😍
*Maybe I hoped there would be a stronger villain. I never wanted the pitiful Situ Ling's character to turn darker. His obsession with protecting the FL initially, then wanting her for himself, was not very exciting. His character had the potential to remain as the FL's brother rather than an obsessive stalker.
*I loved the ML and FL's companion beasts; they were so cute. They always helped the ML and FL get through the hardships.😻😻🐉🐉
*I also liked the princess character and her love story. She was cute and her friendship with the main leads was refreshing to watch.
*Their costumes and setting were all good. The action sequences didn't disappoint. Special mention to the cute pics at the end of each episode.
OVERALL: LIGHT-HEARTED, FUN TO WATCH, ROMANTIC TENSIONS AT THEIR PEAK.💘💘🏔🏔

THE MOST DRAMATIC COUPLE!
I finished this yesterday, and it feels so empty now. I still can’t believe it’s really over… Mingyi is so pitiful, but Jibozai suffered even more. He didn’t even know that his savior was the one who abandoned him before. Poor Ji Bozai… Please, bring back my days with MINGZAI the most dramatic couple in the world!Every scene gave me that constant butterfly feeling… I was so excited every day waiting for each new episode. And now that it’s ended, we’ve parted ways. I really love this drama, but somehow the ending feels like something’s missing… yeah, that’s right — it’s TOO SHORT! Ahahahaha!
Hao said he wants to collaborate with Yuxiao again, and I really hope that happens soon in the future. Thank you for all the wonderful days, MINGYI x JIBOZAI.

TRULY EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!!
I started it because I really loved the chemistry of both ML and FL, and wanted to see more of them. Their acting goes beyond my rating scale and I could literally feel the emotions portrayed, bypassing my screen and reaching my heart and eyes. It happens for very few dramas. For the first few episodes, I will agree that I couldn't keep up with the storyline, everything felt so overwhelming and confusing. Like they were trying to build mystery but was very much scattered. I would like to pass it because during this time, the way they built all the side characters and all, was truly commendable. It is like I can watch any episode as standalone. Every episode will be like a whole package in itself. The OSTs, the costumes, the background sceneries, everything was on point. The dialogues and their perfect execution is the key to this drama's success for me. I personally loved their spirit animals, their friends at Jixing Abyss, Ming Yi's (FL) father and ML and FL ofc! It was such a heart-healing drama, like even though there was a cruel plot cooking at the backend, the drama never let go of it originality and wholesomeness. I was really disappointed when Ji Bozai (ML) couldn't recognize Ming Yi as Ming Xian even after so many episodes and hints, like how can a ML be so dumb!? But then I completely understood the whole point and storyline after that. It was just a different form of love they had each for each other and at times, I would fail to understand its depth but once understood, it will truly well up my heart.
The whole drama is like a vintage wine which just gets better with time (more episodes). I think after ep 20, you will truly fall in love with the drama and its characters and storyline. Because till then, all the characters and sub plots would mainly be set in place, and now you'd have got complete picture of all the plots in the drama. There are very subtle plot twists and revelations, not your usual "it blew my mind" moments. Also, what makes this drama different for me is: Firstly, the first drama where I have actually seen FL being in so much pain and sacrificing herself for the hero, usually its the opposite. Secondly, there is no such concept of hatred between them. They both are in themselves such strong and independent characters, so wisely acted out their roles. There was no unnecessary or immature or dragged out scenes. Everything made sense and even their childish moments or be it their starting "husband-wife pretending" moments, they were so fun to watch. Thirdly, not any of the good side characters die at the end, it was in true sense a happy ending which is very rare in chinese historical dramas, where usually side leads are killed or sacrificed at the end to bring out sympathy or provide a melo end to the drama. But here I was truly happy with the ending.
It was truly the justice served right. I loved how all evil characters met their doom one by one, and what a powerful message the whole drama portrays. More than sacrificing yourself for the lover to save the world, you both should together save the world and live together or die together. It didn't glorify sacrificing oneself for the lover but taught us a different way where both ML and FL can trust each other and the capabilities, and are willing to join hands together. Like it was such an inspiring and comforting moment. Overall, I personally loved the characters' chemistry, the humor, the war scenes, the pain, the sacrifice portrayed, the emotional depth and so many micro-lessons from every episode. It gave me a whole lot of memories and happy moments. Truly a comforting and dopamine-boosting drama! Be patient, trust the storyline and the plot, you will automatically get connected to its characters and will really enjoy such a wholesome and heartful drama.
LASTLY, I LOVE ML AND FL CHEMISTRY, THE OSTS, THE PLOT AND THE ENDING!!!

Love In The Clouds has taken the number one spot for me and I'm not even kidding.
I’ve just finished the last episode and I’m still emotionally shaken, but I need to talk about this masterpiece while the feelings are fresh.I can confidently say that this is the first time in ages I’ve felt compelled to write a review after finishing a drama — and the first time in a long while that I’ve given one a perfect score without hesitation. I binge-watched Love in the Clouds in about 3–4 days, completely hooked from the first episode to the last.
Before this, my favorite 2025 drama was Prisoner of Beauty, but even that didn’t quite make a perfect 10 for me because the ending felt rushed. With LITC, I had that fear too… and yet, it delivered in every aspect.
The pacing is one of its greatest strengths: consistent, engaging, and always moving the story forward without filler. The characters are well built, their individual arcs make sense, and — my favorite part — the relationships are incredibly well developed.
Our main couple’s chemistry is out of this world from day one. Their personalities complement each other beautifully, and their dynamic is the perfect mix of romantic tension and emotional depth. Ji Bozai… listen, I am a happily married woman, but you made me dream. Sir, control yourself!
Hou Minghao’s ability to convey emotions through those stunning eyes made me smile, swoon, and cry more times than I can count.
The story blends enemies-to-lovers with an intense cat-and-dog rivalry that slowly blossoms into devotion — the exact kind of trope I adore. If you’re a hopeless romantic who loves watching a couple love each other so fiercely that they would sacrifice everything, even their lives, for one another… this drama will steal your heart too.
And the OST? Perfection. I’ve already added five (yes, five!) songs to my Chinese playlist.
Love in the Clouds is a show I will rewatch someday, and one I’ll hold in my heart forever.

Two tricksters becoming the ultimate couple to ride or die together
How to review a drama, that left you more than a little star struck, because it was just that good?Where to begin?
A central part of my elation about the show is based on the excellent acting shown by both main leads but also their supporting cast. HMH often gets prejudged because of his extraordinary handsome face. Yes, he’s good looking. But so are most of his acting colleagues.
And there is a reason, he more often than not outshines the leads, if he is only cast as a supporting act in a production.
He gives his all while acting, and acts through his eyes, his mimics, gestures, body language. And can switch between a decadent lascivious persona, a ruthless calculating cold or a warm loving personality seemingly effortless. It is a joy to watch when he unfolds his skills on screen.
And our female lead LYX was a match for him in acting skills and chemistry!
Add the performances of the supporting cast into the mix and it deserves well 10/10.
The storyline and the multiple character developments made sense and progressed at a good individual pace well balanced between main and supporting characters without delay from start to finish. I loved, how they connected vital moments during their journeys in replays to either show the development and final conclusions or their steadiness in feelings and positions.
The CGI was a mix with moments I would have loved to see on a big screen in a cinema, and parts, where the deeper background reminded me of older animated movies. LOL. But these were negligible flaws in my book.
Overall the visuals were stunning and beautiful to watch.

A word about the final villain:
He might not be the most charismatic villain in drama history, but his story arc was well written and executed. So no loss I my opinion.
While I increasingly despised his character with a passion and was satisfied with his ending, I still appreciated the moments of grace shown towards his character by our main leads, especially by the female lead. It was deeply human and honorable and a wholesome part of the storyline. Thank you, writers.
