Absolutely beautiful series ?
I just can't be believe, like to me, each part of this series had the og content. No redundant, unwanted streching of the storyline, monotony, or more of a typical C-drama plot, which essentially kept me hooked till the last episode. Honestly every eps was worth the wait, and the ending is so well justified, unless you'd have fallen for 2nd ML who turned into his villian arc, whose character was actually not that significant otherwise. I'd rather feel sad for his admirer the lady of the fox clan, but somewhere she was saved from an obsessive red flag, coz I def not wanted to see her sacrifice her life for his goals.I'm very satisfied with this ending. Earlier i thought when the Sima Jiao series was the best, but no cap, hands down, this is the best of this genre in 2025.

May be the best of 2025
I've been waiting for this drama since I watched Fangs of Fortune last year and fell in love with Hou Ming Hao. I fell for his performance and acting skills and when I found out he was going to be playing a role alongside Lu Yu Xiaou whom had blown me away with her role in My Journey To You, I was hella excited!!!And it did not disappoint!
We follow young Ming Xian, the crown prince of Yuangguang Palace and top warrior of an annual contest held within the Hexu realms. She's been walking around looking like a boy all her life and has to keep up the ruse of being a crown prince for the sake of her home but then she loses for the first time in 7 years to a lower realm and faces the consequences.
Someone has poisoned her during the contest and under the disguise of her true self, Ming Yi, (the female she) she travels to the winning realm to find the warrior who defeated her. She wants to make him heal her or steal the antidote only he possesses.
Ming Yi manages to find a way into Ji Bo Zai's home and become his lady of the house. Through wit and perseverance, she twists him around her fingers and plays him like a fiddle. Only.. she doesn't know he has use for her too and the two become each others pawns.
Ar first the drama is very humorous. It's funny, quick and witty. Ming Yi and Jo Bo Zai dance around each other and keep using each other for their own gain until they begin to trust one another and feelings come into play. It's such a beautifully done slow-burn and their chemistry almost burned through my screen. Their kisses were hot and the push-and-pull between them was to die for.
The only thing I didn't really like were the climaxes in the story. They felt a bit... anti-climactic. The story builds up so much around certain plot points but when it comes down to it, it doesn't really pull it through. I missed the WOW factor a little.
Don't get me wrong. I absolutely adored the drama and loved every bit of it but it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. Some of the bigger epiphanies weren't that impactful, such as: the emperor of Yuanguang palace telling her to never come back and we keep seeing her at her old home. Or the breaking point of Situ Ling. He never really broke and always reverted back into the puppy dog that trailed after Ming Yi.
I do really recommend this drama. It's a must-watch for anyone who loves Xianxia dramas. It's one of the best this year.

A Roller Coaster of Romance: Chemistry, Emotion, and Unforgettable Moments
I really enjoyed this drama! The chemistry between the male and female leads, combined with the strong writing, made it both entertaining and deeply emotional—especially during the most powerful moments. I found myself watching it every morning because each episode’s ending left me eager to see what would happen next. It’s definitely one of my favorite dramas this year, not only for the incredible chemistry between the leads but also for the beautiful production and costume design. While the story could have been better, I absolutely loved the soundtrack and the couple’s chemistry both on and off screen.
If you love romance, this show will take you on an emotional ride filled with laughter, tears, frustration, and plenty of sweet moments.

♾️/10 definitely worth to watch!!
I love their chemistry. I love how they portray the characters! I love how they tried to protect each other and also those scene where they act as fake married couple at first then later on everything falls in the right place and at the right time. No wordss can explain how great the overall performance because I enjoyed waiting for every episodes and I even can't watch those last episodes because I don't want the story to end. But nevertheless, it's wprth rewatching!! Hoping for second collaboration!!! Modern drama for both of them pleaseee!! Will def. miss MingZai couple!!Was this review helpful to you?

Very beautiful CGI, no unnecessary character death, every goal of the character is fulfilled.
Ji Bozai - Hou Minghao did a good portrayal of a complex character like Ji Bozai. A character that doesnt trust anyone but really loved to. As Hou Minghao said, Ji Bozai is not really hard to please just needed to show your loyalty and trust towards him. A selfish and selfless character at the same time. He is ready to sacrifice himself for Hexu Six Realm. Even though he was imprisoned and deceived in the Sunken Abyss, his experience did not turned him into a bad person. Very empathetic towards everyone, he still chose to forgive those who did him wrong.Ming Yi - Lu Yuxiao also acted well, I have watched her before in My Journey To You and she did not disappoint. Honestly I do understand why Ming Yi lied to Ji Bozai as Hou Minghao analyze her character, she is a proud warrior, revealing her identity to her nemesis would be a hard punch to her ego as a warrior. She is also selfless character, always wanting to help everyone even though she knows the consequences of her action.
Overall the two of them have insane chemistry, I just don't understand those people who said they don't have any, like are we watching the same show? Both of them have insane face card and high understanding to their characters so they are able to play their character so well. The story line is okay to me, not so complex to understand and the flow of story is bearable, even though kinda draggy sometimes especially when there are unnecessary screen time of some characters but over all 10/10 for me.

OMG GUYSSSS THE DRAMA IS FINISHED ?? “Love in the Clouds” completely took over my life!!
Honestly, I’m stunned it concluded. From beginning to end, the tale flowed beautifully - the speed, feelings, each character getting their due. Not simply a typical fantasy show, instead a heartfelt exploration concerning devotion, affection, also giving up things for others.Neo Hou delivered a stunning performance. He moved between serene composure then devastating heartbreak without missing a beat - it felt completely real. His eyes conveyed everything. I was a fan of Lu Yuxiao after seeing her in Serendipity, however, her performance as Ming Yi truly won me over. She brought such poise alongside an understated power to the character. Each time pain crossed her face, yet a smile bloomed anyway, it struck me. Watching her become strong - a journey from innocence to grit - felt like witnessing art.
She’s got Master She – genuinely a sweet soul. He’s looked after Ming Yi forever, quietly keeping watch like a silent protector. That steadfast dedication just gets to me. Not flashy displays, merely consistent kindness alongside deep affection.
Honestly, the devotion from Mu Qibai’s guard(omg I forgot his name😭😭😭) felt unreal. He even gave his life to help Mu Qibai succeed - it shattered me. Though labeled villains, their commitment struck a chord - a poignant display of affection. It showed me how fondness blooms even where shadows gather, alongside steadfast allegiance.
Honestly, Twenty-Seven just got to me. A total sweetheart - so devoted, I felt connected instantly. When he gave everything up for Ming Yi? Devastating. Tears flowed freely. It went beyond service, past simply following orders - he felt like one of us.
Bu Xi alongside Twenty-Seven? Honestly, a delightful pair. The way they connected felt so natural – playful arguments, gentle teasing, looking out for one another. Each shared moment simply shone. I kept rewinding scenes; seeing them together genuinely lifted my spirits.
Meng Ya Qiu? Seriously funny. He stumbled through everything with a smile, offering much-needed levity. Like when he figured out - inside a jail cell - that his boss was actually Lord Hanfeng all along? Tears streamed down my face, yet I grinned. He possessed a naive quality; somehow, even bleak moments seemed brighter because of him - a contrast I cherished.
Honestly, Situ Ling just broke my heart. I really believed he’d turn things around - instead, he went completely off the rails like Chu Zhao in that drama, Legend of the Female General. It stung, yet somehow felt right for someone so stubbornly sad.
Yan Xiao alongside Tian Ji - they simply fit. It wasn’t a flashy romance, instead woven with quiet kindnesses, each willing to give everything for the other. Seeing how Tian Ji prioritized Yan Xiao felt genuinely lovely.
THIS WASSS SOOO GOOD GUYS SOLID 9.5/10

Love in the Clouds : Defeat, Disguise, and Desire:
Okay, this is my rewritten review after finishing the full drama 💫. Honestly, Love in the Clouds didn’t disappoint me. It had its flaws, but it also gave me so many things to love. When we talk about the story, it begins with two warriors facing each other in a grand tournament ⚔️. One wins, one loses. But here’s the twist — the one who lost is actually a girl disguised as a man, and she has been the undefeated champion for years. This time, not only does she lose, but she’s also poisoned. The winner, Ji Bozai, becomes the rising star of his realm overnight 🌙, while Ming Yi, the fallen champion, believes he was the one who poisoned her. To find the antidote, she disguises herself as a dancer in a brothel — the very place her opponent often visits. And from there, the story unfolds with fate, revenge, and a growing tenderness that caught me completely off guard 💕.
I really love this kind of setup — it’s dramatic, mysterious, and full of emotional tension.
❤️ Chemistry & Leads
Now, my favorite part — the main couple. Ahh I’m dead 😭. I absolutely love both the ML and FL. Together, they’re breathtaking. Their chemistry feels like gold melting with mercury — radiant, fluid, and inseparable ✨. Every time they appear together, I get butterflies in my stomach 🦋.
Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao are perfect in their roles. Their eyes say everything — full of pain, longing, and unspoken emotions. Just one glance between them can tell an entire love story 💞. Maybe I’m biased because I already love both actors, but their connection feels so alive that I completely forget they’re acting.
Honestly, the best part of the whole drama for me was them — Ji Bozai & Ming Yi. Their chemistry is the reason this drama became a success 🌹. Separately, they’re good — but together, they’re absolutely stunning.
✨ Supporting Cast
The second male lead really tested my patience 😤. At first, he seemed pitiful and I felt sorry for him. I even thought, “Okay, he might be annoying but not evil.” But later… he really disappointed me. Still, I couldn’t fully hate him because I liked that actor in his previous dramas 😅.
The third male lead was the opposite — I actually started liking him from the beginning, even when he appeared to be a villain. But as the story went on, it turned out he wasn’t bad at all, and I really appreciated his character growth 🩵.
As for the second female lead, oh gosh, she was super annoying at first 🙄. I didn’t like her at all. But later, she softened and became really sweet — it surprised me in a good way. The third female lead, on the other hand, broke my heart 💔. She did so much for the man she loved, but he never returned her feelings. I really felt for her.
🤔 Pacing & Production
If I have to mention a flaw, it’s definitely the pacing. The first few episodes were quite slow, full of teasing and buildup before the real plot started. The main story only picked up around episode 4 or 5.
And I have to talk about the background settings. The Jixiu Abyss looked fine, but Yaoguang Mountain... hmm 😬 I really didn’t like it. Inconsistent set design, cheap background CGI, and awkward visual effects — maybe I’m picky, but it didn’t look right to me. Some side characters who appeared just once or twice were also quite cringe 😅. Their acting didn’t feel natural. acting was stiff
But aside from those few weak points, I loved the costumes, the story progression, and how well the main roles were written. The character growth was clear and satisfying, and even though some camera angles felt awkward, it didn’t ruin my overall experience 🎥.
🌸 Overall
Love in the Clouds is a gorgeous, emotional, and engaging fantasy drama. It gave me everything I love — a mix of disguise, revenge, fate, and a deep emotional connection between the leads 🌧️. It’s beautifully shot, romantically written, and full of tension that keeps your heart hooked.
If you like xianxia romance with beautiful chemistry, intense emotions, and a touch of mystery, this one is absolutely worth watching 💕.

A breathtaking, emotional, and empowering fantasy ^^
I can confidently say Love in the Clouds is one of my absolute favorite dramas of 2025. I had high expectations, and it didn’t just meet them — it exceeded them. From the story to the acting, everything felt so heartfelt and beautifully crafted. At first, the pacing is a bit slow, but once the world opens up, it becomes such an emotional and thrilling journey. The story balances fantasy, love, and identity with a sincerity that’s rare. What really pulled me in was how Ming Yi (played by LYX) isn’t just a warrior — she’s a woman fighting to reclaim her identity in a world that refuses to see her. LYX was phenomenal. Her performance was layered, raw, and endlessly moving. She portrayed strength and fragility so naturally that I found myself rooting for her every second.( I can be totally biased about LYX because she nailed it and once again showed her greatness as actress and her versatility).
And then there’s Ji Bo Zai (HMH) — what a character! He’s powerful, sharp, and mysterious, yet what really stood out was his emotional intelligence. He never once belittled Ming Yi for being a woman. Instead, he uplifted her, supported her, and made sure she could shine on her own terms. That’s what made their relationship so special — it wasn’t about dominance or saving each other, it was about mutual respect and growth. Their chemistry was absolutely off the charts — intense, funny, tender, and magnetic all at once.
I also have to say: the supporting cast deserves so much love. Every single one of them added something meaningful to the story — the friends, the princess, the beasts, the secondary couples — they made the world of Love in the Clouds feel alive. They were touching, expressive, and often delivered moments that genuinely made me tear up.
Visually, the show is just stunning. The CGI, the costumes, and the cinematography are pure art. Every frame looks like a painting. And the OSTs — especially “Love in the Clouds” and “Pretending It’s Nothing” — perfectly capture the emotions of each scene. I still listen to them because they bring back all the feelings this drama gave me.
The ending? Absolutely satisfying. It’s so refreshing to see a xianxia drama where love and hope win without unnecessary sacrifices. Ming Yi and Ji Bo Zai got the ending they truly deserved — a peaceful and beautiful one.
This drama is about love, equality, and healing. It’s about learning to embrace who you are and finding someone who sees you for exactly that. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love. LYX once again proved why she’s one of the most versatile actresses of her generation.
Love in the Clouds is emotional, empowering, and simply unforgettable. If you love fantasy with real heart and characters that stay with you, don’t miss this one. 🌙💫

I need more!!!!
I don't enjoy watching this type of genre and tend to avoid those with too many episodes. But with Love in the Clouds, it got me hooked from the first episode. The chemistry and the acting of both the ML and FL were superb. I hate Youku for cutting it down from 40 to 36 eps!!! This is my first time watching a drama, leaving me wanting more episodes to watch. I hope they will have another drama together in the near future!!!Was this review helpful to you?

JBZ and MY own my heart!
I enjoyed every moment of this drama. The chemistry between the leads was 🔥. The way they never hesitated to help or sacrifice for one another was top notch. I'm not usually a fan of miscommunication but inwas rooting for JBZ and MY so much that i was too invested to stop. Situ Ling did a great job as the villain. He kept on raising the bar on getting on my nerves. Glad it was a happy ending and we got to see the main leads trusting themselves.I loved Grandma, 27, Buxiu, Master She, Tianji, Yan Xiao. I felt they were truly part of the story.

Love in the Clouds — A Drama That Soars Above the Rest
From the very first episode, the chemistry between HMH and LYX was electric, and the world-building in Love in the Clouds was exceptionally well done. The story’s setting feels vivid and immersive, drawing viewers into a world where emotion and atmosphere blend seamlessly. This is exactly how a drama should be: where the female lead isn’t naïve or dependent, but stands as an equal — if not stronger — counterpart to the male lead. Their connection and mutual understanding are truly remarkable. Despite coming from completely different backgrounds, their thoughts, values, and emotions align naturally, creating a relationship that feels real and deeply rooted.
Too often, dramas insert romance simply because it’s expected, without giving it meaning or growth. Love in the Clouds avoids that trap beautifully — its romance evolves organically, shaped by empathy, respect, and emotional maturity.
Adding to its brilliance is the attention to detail across every element of production — from the elegant costume design and striking visual effects to the cinematography that captures both grandeur and intimacy. The entire cast works in perfect harmony, enhancing every scene and making the story come alive.
⭐ 10/10 — Love in the Clouds stands out as one of 2025’s finest dramas, a masterclass in storytelling, performance, and emotional depth.

Simple and entertaining story
Honestly the story is not new but the drama as a whole is engaging and entertaining. It is easy to understand and it does not dwell or at least does not revel in the sad and tragic parts of the story. I liked the leads and the director and will check their future works.Pros:
1) Acting is quite good and leads chemistry is superb.
2) Good pacing, simple and non boring story.
3) Drama visuals and aesthetics.
4) Good direction
5) Support characters are interesting. The murder-happy dragon, cutie cat, the second leads.
6) Leads like each other but do not blindly trust each each other. They learn to communicate.
7) Misunderstandings do not drag into multiple episodes. They get resolved sooner.
Cons:
1) Too much blood coughing/puking. This seems to the problem of most dramas in the genre.
2) SML's character arc and the change in his costumes are too on the nose. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
