My Golden Blood — When Great Casting Defies First Impressions

I'll be honest: when I first saw the casting announcement for My Golden Blood, I wasn't convinced. The story immediately reminded me of Twilight: a powerful vampire protecting a fragile human whose blood everyone desires. Then I looked at the cast. Joss Way-ar Sangngern, one of GMMTV's most masculine leading men, was the obvious choice for the vampire. But Gawin Caskey as the vulnerable human? I simply couldn't picture it. Gawin is tall, broad-shouldered, naturally athletic, and has a quiet confidence that doesn't immediately fit the image of someone who constantly needs protection. I couldn't have been happier to be proven wrong.

What makes the casting work isn't appearance—it's acting.

Gawin never tries to physically become weak. Instead, he changes the way he carries himself. His body language becomes more reserved, his voice softer, and his expressions subtly communicate fear, loneliness and vulnerability without ever making Tong feel pathetic. That's the mark of a very good actor. He doesn't change who he is; he changes how the character exists within his own body. By the end of the series, I had completely forgotten my initial doubts because Gawin had made me believe in Tong.

Joss, on the other hand, does exactly what Joss has always done best. He's the definition of the modern alpha male lead. At nearly 190 cm tall, with the physique of a model and the confidence to match, he naturally dominates every room he walks into. Thai dramas have built his career around that image, and My Golden Blood uses it perfectly. Mark is intimidating without trying to be, protective without becoming overbearing, and powerful without losing his emotional vulnerability. What surprised me most, however, was how much softer Joss allowed himself to become throughout the series. This wasn't simply another handsome bodyguard or stoic hero. There were moments where he let silence, hesitation and small gestures express more than dialogue ever could.

What really surprised me was their chemistry.

Before filming began, the two barely knew each other. Production delays gave them several months to spend time together, travelling, playing basketball and simply becoming friends before cameras started rolling. Looking at the final result, that extra time clearly paid off. Their relationship never feels manufactured for fan service. Instead, it grows naturally, making every quiet conversation feel just as intimate as the romantic scenes. They don't constantly try to convince you they're soulmates—you simply start believing it.

Ironically, that chemistry becomes one of the drama's biggest strengths... and one of its biggest weaknesses.

Every time Mark and Tong shared the screen, I became completely invested in their relationship. Then the story would cut to another subplot, another vampire conflict, or another supporting character, and all I wanted was to return to them. It's not that the supporting cast performed poorly. Actors like Um Apasiri, Mond Tanutchai and the rest of the vampire clan all delivered solid performances. The problem is that Joss and Gawin unintentionally overshadow everyone around them. Their scenes carry so much emotional weight that the rest of the story often struggles to maintain the same level of engagement.

The vampire mythology itself is enjoyable, even if it never becomes as rich as I hoped. The series clearly takes inspiration from Western vampire fiction while adapting it to a Thai BL format. There are moments where I wished the writers had explored vampire politics, history and world-building more deeply instead of repeatedly returning to romantic misunderstandings. The mythology is interesting enough to support a much larger story than the one we ultimately receive.

Visually, however, the production is excellent. Director Saroj Kunatanad creates a stylish atmosphere filled with elegant lighting, beautiful compositions and convincing action sequences. Yet I also think the influence of executive producer Aof Noppharnach can be felt throughout the series. Anyone familiar with A Tale of Thousand Stars, Moonlight Chicken, or Dark Blue Kiss will recognise the emphasis on emotional intimacy over spectacle. Rather than treating the vampire elements as the heart of the drama, the production constantly returns to the relationship between its two leads. That balance between fantasy and character is something Aof has consistently done well throughout his career, and My Golden Blood benefits enormously from it.

If I still have one criticism, it's that the story occasionally plays things a little too safely. The romance works, the action works, and the supernatural elements work, but I rarely felt genuinely surprised. The series sometimes follows familiar vampire tropes instead of pushing its own mythology further. Considering the quality of the production and the performances, I think it could have taken more creative risks.

Final Thought

My Golden Blood is one of those rare dramas that completely changed my expectations. I went in convinced the casting was wrong and finished believing that Joss and Gawin were exactly the reason the series worked. Joss brings effortless authority, while Gawin transforms a role that could easily have felt unbelievable into one of the drama's greatest strengths. Together, they create a relationship so compelling that they unintentionally overshadow almost everything else happening around them. The vampire story may not reinvent the genre, but thanks to two excellent performances and a production that consistently looks cinematic, My Golden Blood proves that great acting can completely overturn first impressions.

Where Romance Excels and Worldbuilding Could Have Gone Further

❗️*** SPOLIERS***❗️

This review is inherently biased — and I’m owning that immediately. But please give this show a chance.

I genuinely connected with the central pairing. Gawin (Tong) and Joss (Mark) have subtle, restrained chemistry built on micro-expressions, sustained eye contact, and emotional pauses rather than theatrics. Their performances feel grounded and collaborative, and the nuance in their acting is consistently impressive.

Now, yes — the first episode is a little campy. The tone, sound design, and some of the vampire movement effects had me blinking (cough Twilight cough). But the show quickly finds its rhythm, and the production improves as the story progresses.

Where things get more complicated is the mythology. The golden blood concept, the covenant system, the prohibition against drinking human blood, and the introduction of unique abilities all show strong creativity. There’s clearly a solid conceptual foundation. The ideas are imaginative and ambitious.

However, the mechanics aren’t always clearly defined. If vampires can’t drink human blood, what sustains them? Is abstinence moral, biological, or both? Does golden blood function as literal blood, or as something closer to essence? Joss’s golden blood seems to affect more than just blood exchange — tears and sweat imply something broader. Mark’s gradual sensory and emotional shift suggests proximity to golden blood alters vampire nature itself. It’s fascinating — but underexplained.

The same ambiguity applies to individualized vampire abilities. Strength and speed are universal, but some characters have healing, mind control, or prophetic vision. Are these tied to bloodline, past lives, trauma, randomness? The show doesn’t fully say. And listen — I understand this is fantasy. Creative liberties come with the genre, and sometimes we just roll with it. I’m not asking for a scientific dissertation. I just want a little more internal context so the rules feel intentional rather than incidental.

That said — this is a creativity issue in execution, not imagination. The framework is there. With clearer structural rules, the worldbuilding could have been incredibly cohesive. As it stands, some moments feel implied rather than intentionally layered.

Where the show truly shines is dialogue and emotional writing.

In Episode 5, when Mark reads the highlighted line from Pride and Prejudice — “I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun” — it’s beautifully placed. The thematic alignment with emotional awakening is chef’s kiss.

And Mark’s later confession? Entirely original. Lines like:

“This is the first time I love and care for someone.”

“If vampires are withered flowers, we’ll make them bloom.”

“If I were to kiss you and go to hell, I would — so I could brag to the devils that I saw heaven without entering.”

The cadence feels like contemporary romantic literature. The writing is poetic, surprisingly elegant, and beautifully preserved even in translation. The series absolutely earns points for its emotional resonance and creative ambition.

⚠️ I haven’t read the original My Golden Blood novel by Dawin, so I can’t tell whether the unanswered mechanics and plot gaps originate in the source material or emerged during adaptation. It’s entirely possible the novel explains the golden blood system more clearly and that details were streamlined for television. If anyone familiar with the book knows, I’d genuinely love to hear.

Overall, the show is decent — and more than that, it’s creatively ambitious. It may not be structurally perfect, but it has strong chemistry, thoughtful romantic writing, and a clear artistic vision. Some viewers focus heavily on the inconsistencies, which are valid critiques — but I think that sometimes overshadows what the show genuinely does well.

It feels like a diamond in the rough. Not flawless. Not airtight in mechanics. But emotionally compelling, original within its niche, and undeniably sincere.

My Golden Blood isn’t perfect, but it’s powerful where it matters most.

The ending just didn't hit

I started this series because:
1. I loveeeee vampire stories
2. I needed to see jossgawin

I've been a very big fan of vampire stories for YEARS. I started this bl with a lot of hope. It started off quite well. I loved it till ep 10.

After ep 10, it just started getting traumatizing. Don't get me wrong. I LOVED THE SWITCH UP IN THE CHARACTERS (even tho it was kinda obvious). But when mark and tong started acting sooooo stupid, i started feeling done w the series. TONG JUST HANDED HIMSELF INTO THARA'S HANDS??? AFTER ALL MARK DID?!!

It just started pissing me off then. I was literally cursing at the screen cuz they were acting so stupid😭.

Then ep 12 came. AND TONG DIED?! IN MARK'S HANDS??! Honestly speaking, i love me a sad ending. Especially that "i do" scene broke me. I had to just pause and i just broke down for like atleast 15 min before playing it again. I would've given the story a higher rating if they ended it sad. BUT NO. AFTER LITERALLY CRYING MY EYES OUT, GIVING ME TRAUMA, AND BREAKING MY HEART. THEY JUST PROCEEDED TO TRY AND PRESS BACKSPACE??!!

That ending just didn't sit right with me. Like after going thru so much, they just pretend it never happened. If this ending happened under different cicumstances, i would've LOVED it. But after him literally having to give up his life, it just didn't feel right.

I THINK I WOULD'VE JUST LIKED IT MORE IF THEY ENDED IT SAD. LIKE ALL MY EMOTIONS WOULDN'T FEEL WORTHLESS.

Except the ending tho, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERYTHING. ESPECIALLY THE MUSIC. IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO KEEP ME INTERESTED BUT I REALLY WOULDN'T RECOMMOND THIS TO ANYONE.

IS THAT ALL?? THAT'S IT??

I'm not saying that the movie is bad. But it's a sore disappointment for me.
Hear me out. Put down the pitch forks and tiki torches especially Caskey and Jos fans.

Good sides
I the think the concept was a good one
First the acting is very solid from everyone as expected. Chemistry was good too.
The music isn't that special but you can't also write it off
I think overall it's quite enjoyable if you block out your brains and decide not to question the plot.

The Bad and Ugly.
The plot was full of holes that were so glaring
The fact that the aesthetics of the very first trailer which is a chef's kiss is so different from the end product is what bothers me a lot. The very first trailer showed a darker aesthetic and the fact that it out very little was what got me hyped for this series. The shift to a light tone and then try to take itself seriously was just a letdown. It lowered the stakes of the series dramatically.
I mean vampires immune to sunlight, garlic and other traditional methods was a great idea and a good script could have given both villain, anti-hero and protagonists higher stakes but GMMTV had to GMMTV themselves again and ruin it.
A huge plot hole was the villain. I feel like the Apasiri's character (Thara) was just shoved into the twist as the villain just got a twist sake. There was no villain arc or foreshadowing and so she felt like a last minute decision just to get a villain. Her character was just wasted cos Apasiri played the villain to perfection but then the script was huge letdown. Even her powers of precognition and recognition were poorly mishandled.
Another problem I had was the fact that the issue of the Golden Blood was nothing but just barely bones.
-How/When did the vampires first discover this golden blood??
-Who was the first vampire to discover it??
- How does it work for vampires??
-What chemical properties made it "golden"??
-Why was it also dangerous??
A whole lot of questions with this golden blood.
I get that certain things in movies must remain a mystery but this isn't one of them. The series is about the Golden Blood and it's even in the title.
There are a whole lot of questions and problems with the series. I didn't enjoy it at all.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT FOR YOU. YOU'LL ENJOY IT IF YOU CAN SHUT YOUR BRAINS OR YOU'RE JUST A CRAZED FAN OF THE CAST WHO ENJOYES ANYTHING REGARDLESS OF QUALITY.
Shut your brains out and you'll get a blast

I’ll start this review by saying I decided to watch this series after starting Only Friends Dream On. I had been aware of the JossGawin couple for a while (and I’ve fallen in love with them in no time), but I couldn’t bring myself to embark on My Golden Blood because it didn’t seem that good. Looks like I wasn’t wrong.

I’m quite into vampires and their tropes in films, and that’s why I’m disappointed when it comes to this plot. In particular:
𝟙- The ‘golden blood’ thing seems interesting but, in the end doesn’t do much; Mark’s abilities are basically the same as before. So, this alleged power isn’t that exciting after all. The whole story is based on this element, even Mark’s attraction towards Tong. Why isn’t it more special? In addition, vampire stories are usually so charming and enchanting. This time, I didn’t feel that way.
𝟚- The ‘plot twist’ doesn’t surprise me, I have known for a while. Everything is so suspicious, it’s impossible not to notice. Of course, this works for everyone except Tong (and Mark, but his reasons are valid): how can you blindly trust someone (not even a human being but a vampire) you just met? In my opinion, Gawin’s character is too 𝖘𝖙𝖚𝖕𝖎𝖉. He is twenty years old; he’s not a high schooler anymore. He acts like a baby because he’s always been treated like one at the orphanage. And I get what the initial plan is, but it doesn’t work. This makes it extremely difficult to empathize with Tong, who’s the character that guides the viewers. The screenwriting is the problem here: it shouldn’t be acceptable to have a main character like this one, his choices aren’t possibly shareable.
𝟛- Tonkla’s character is one of the most mistreated I have ever seen in the history of BLs. There’s supposed to be a ‘friendship trope’ somewhere, but it’s not available during all the twelve episodes. Tong literally abandons him (two times – this is one of the great main character’s decisions), believing Mark over him. Clearly, who would choose to trust his childhood best friend, who he grew up with, over a sexy vampire? Tonkla and Nakan’s characters are the ones who make more sense in this series: they have an opinion, and can actually connect brain cells. I understand them more than Tong. Instead, both Mark and Tong are passive characters. They don’t do anything regarding the ‘golden blood’ plot. They don’t add their point of view, because they don’t have one (Tong is a baby; Mark blindly follows Thara’s orders – the blind leading the blind ahahah).
𝟜- Mark and Tong only care about their love story. They’re completely disconnected from reality, and only care about being together. Love is important, but in this case the plot is just unbalanced. Furthermore, the relationship itself isn’t that captivating. From my perspective, this is due to how the characters are written. As I said before, Tong’s too childish, so Mark is almost a father figure (crazy!). This love story feels sudden, not solid and a bit boring. But generally, most of the things that happen seem wrong or don’t make any sense (for example Mark’s power that stops working in some situations). I wanted to drop this project two or three times.

What made me continue? 𝕲𝖆𝖜𝖎𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝕵𝖔𝖘𝖘.

As I said at the beginning, I’m falling in love with this new couple. Before watching My Golden Blood, I’ve listened to some of their interviews, knowing how they met and what they have in common. I wanted to see them acting until the end.
I believe both of them do a good job trying to portrait the characters. I think the writing itself is what had to be improved here. Going through MGB behind the scenes, I heard Gawin saying how he tried to think of his younger self to reach Tong’s dimension. He understood what the authors wanted, but, as I said multiple times, the output isn’t great for me. I’ve seen Gawin acting before and I liked him; this time, although he fitted the role, I genuinely just couldn’t like his character. On the other hand, it’s my first time with Joss’ performance. I'm happy with what I see: he can act and his expressions are accurate for the vampire role. Nevertheless, the result is the same: he achieves the aim, and this is the problem (due to the character - but this situation is better that Tong's). I’m currently seeing OFDO, and I’ve noticed the difference between their interactions then and now. In this case, both seem more mature (for now). The casting, though, is good: Joss is accurate as a vampire. He and Gawin look very good together (faces, heights and body sizes). I have to point out one scene: their first kiss. Just fantastic.
I love Thara’s actress (Um). she’s attractive, but scaring and mysterious. And gorgeous, extremely beautiful; more than perfect for the part. Mond (Nakan)’s appearance makes him also cut to be a vampire. They both do an awesome performance; they’re my favourites. Neo (Tonkla) is also a good character (I love seeing him, Joss and Gawin together again in OFDO – do you get déjà vu), I appreciate his role so much. Unfortunately, few scenes aren’t of my liking (for example, the scene when he cries – I can say no more for the spoilers).

I enjoyed all the ‘special effects’ regarding the vampire’s world: the super-speed (this in particular), the teeth, the coloured-eyes, the ‘medicine’ power and blood smell. Also, the fighting scenes seem well acted and directed (with this cool super-speed). Nothing much to say about the photography and setting, just my favourite places are Thara’s house and the auntie’s flower shop. Gawin’s voice is wonderful as always, Joss isn’t bad either, and I like their voices together. The OSTs are good for me; nothing outstanding, but romantic and passionate.

So far, I feel like this could have been a better series if it was more balanced and just made more sense, somehow. I’m going to say this again: the writing is the problem. It's a bit a shame, because I think Joss and Gawin, in good conditions, would definitely kill it. I'm hoping to see them even more after OFDO. I recommend this show to JossGawin's fans who are curious about their first project, want to know how everything started.

Has a lot of potential

The plot/story of the show is really good and intriguing, but a couple of things could be better. I'll start with what was done well.
- The special effects for the transformation were pretty good.
- Some of the actors did a really great job acting (Joss, Neo, Um, and Mond stood out).
- Good wardrobe (yes, I care about this.)
- The intimacy seemed very natural.

Improvements
- The second male lead's acting was a bit rough at times. I noticed this a lot in scenes where he had to be sleeping or he had to be cutesy. It simply did not work.
- The special effects for the fight scenes and speed movements were horrible. For a vampire/supernatural show , this is basically the most important aspect outside of the acting. The horrible SFX took away a lot of the enjoyment from the show.

The show has a lot of potential, but it was not all the way there.

GIRL!! I LOVE THEM SM!!

I have to admit, I stopped watching Thai BL for a while because I found many of their plots uninteresting. But *My Golden Blood* completely changed that for me! This series reignited my love for Thai BL, and I couldn’t be more excited.

As a huge fan of the vampire-human trope, I knew I had to check this out. At first, I was hesitant, worried that it might not meet my expectations. But after watching Episode 1—wow! I was instantly hooked. The story pulled me in, and the chemistry between the two male leads is simply incredible. Their dynamic feels so natural and intense, making every interaction between them captivating.

I’m not sure how others feel about their acting, but for me, it’s perfect! Their emotions, expressions, and the way they portray their characters make the story even more engaging. The mix of romance, fantasy, and drama is well-executed, making each episode exciting to watch.

Right now, I’d confidently rate My Golden Blood a 9.5/10. It has completely exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next. This is easily one of my favorite BL series to date!

Waiting for Wednesday feels like an eternity, but I know it’s going to be worth it! If you’re a fan of fantasy BL with strong chemistry and an engaging storyline, this series is a must-watch! Lol.

Soooooo..... TRASH

Trash may be a bit harsh.. no, no, I can't even fake it. This was bad.

But vampire dramas or movies, whatever they may be, they're meant to be a bit trashy yes? There's not a lot of logic, it's all a bit weird and campy, it's fun. We all remember spider - monkey.
But what happens when that required campiness is so bad that it makes you want to roll your eyes until you can see your brain? You get My Golden Blood!

Logic and common sense both take some serious hits in this series, and the writers knew that this story doesn't require much logic, because there was none. Gaping plot holes and inconsistencies galore that I was worried one of the characters might trip over an inconsistency and fall into a plot hole. And the cherry on top?
The entire series is based off of falling for someone by the scent of their sweat.
I am not making this up.
Pheromones exist, but not like this!

This was incredibly bad, I still cannot comprehend just how much and I can't quite explain just how bad. Even without basing your entire story on one guy falling for another guy's smell, the writing was nothing to hit home about. The abrupt tone changes, going from incredibly sad to the leads making out, it was jarring. The music choices during certain scenes made me want to mute my device and start humming my own music because I could have come up with a better score despite knowing nothing about scoring a series.

The characters were written no better, going from being extremely supportive and protective to going "boo! we're not friends anymore!". They were all again, so inconsistent, so weirdly written and lacking any emotional depth, the kind that makes you want to root for them, feel for them. I guarantee, you will not like a single character by the end of the series, I had no sort of connection to any of them, and no reactions to anything that happened to them.

And plot twists? What plot twists? At least what plot twists you didn't see coming ten miles away, because they were THAT OBVIOUS. There was no need for a plot twist, having the villain be the villain is not a bad thing. But to do that, you need some nuance and.. well we can all see where this is going.

I will say, admittedly Joss and Gawin do have some chemistry. But it was all just a rich tapestry to cover up the weak writing, the absolute absence of any logic and the very subpar execution. Plus, it's just really hard to root for a couple when their entire relationship can be based off of the statement "you smell good".

I was so excited and we got squat. I could go on and on about how disappointed I am, but I don't think I want to. You try as much as you can with series about vampires and werewolves finding their soulmates to not take it seriously. And I tried, I truly tried to watch it without taking it too seriously but having watched all of it, I can safely say that the people who made this didn't take it seriously either.

I Came for the Bite, Stayed for the Chaos (Regretfully)

Listen. I came in for the vampires, the hot vampire mafia drama, the forbidden romance. I stayed… because I was too stunned to close the tab.

My Golden Blood had everything it needed to be THAT show: sexy immortal vampire, adorable human boy, vampire politics, high stakes. But what did they do with it? Turned it into a confused fever dream with the emotional depth of a TikTok filter.

Let’s talk chemistry— what chemistry? I’ve seen more sparks in a wet cardboard box. The two leads looked like they were trying so hard to sell the romance, but it gave "bro we're just acting, right?" Like, is this a love story or a blood donor campaign?

And the plot? BABES. What even was the plot? It was like a writer’s room full of ideas—but no one said no. One second it’s a mafia showdown, next second it’s a topless scene (PS: not that I'm complaining tho!) , and suddenly we’re in a basket ball court with the personality of boiled rice.

Don’t even get me started on the pacing. It dragged and then sprinted like it forgot it had a finale this week. The vampire lore made no sense, the world-building was held together with vibes and eyeliner, and the product placement? Aggressively shoved in like a jump scare. Yes, I saw the blood-colored tomato juice or food coloring material. No, I didn’t ask for it.

In conclusion:
My Golden Blood had potential, but unfortunately, potential doesn’t pay rent. We deserved better. Justice for vampire BLs everywhere. 🧛🏻‍♂️🩸❌

My Golden Blood – 5.5/10 (and that’s me being NICE)

Bored and Disappointed

I had no expectations going into this show. That being said, what the hell happened?

First off, the little things. The speed effects & CGI were bad, and the OST was way too loud at times. Also, was that last scene filmed in front of a green screen?

The first couple of episodes were alright, but by episode 5, I found myself doomscrolling while the show played in the background, and I started watching it at x2 speed just to get through it.

I lost count of the number of times I wanted to DNF this series, but I didn't because of Neo. Then they kill him unnecessarily. They could have saved him if they wanted to. Why was Mark trying to heal him while he was still impaled? If it was too late for healing once you pulled him off, turn him. And you can try to argue that they needed permission because they can't die afterward—bullshit. 1. I'm sure Tonkla would have chosen to live & 2. I'm sure taking their head off or piercing the heart, even without having "golden blood," would kill them. I thought about dropping the show after he was killed by Nakan (whom I was hoping to see him have a romance with), but at that point, there were only 3 episodes left, so I pushed through it.

The plot was also way too predictable. I should not have known that Thara was after Golden Bloods for her own personal gain, episode 1. That twist doesn't even get revealed until episode 10. Was anyone really surprised by this? Nakan wanting to take her down because she killed someone he loved was also not a surprise at all. The biggest surprise was that they actually killed Tonkla because he was the only good character in the whole show, and killing him off was just a stupid decision. They should have just gone with an enemies-to-lovers trope and at least tried to save their sinking ship a little instead of letting it capsize.

The world-building was very surface-level and made everything feel fake. The lore of vampires is never properly explained, but we have no idea what normal vampire abilities are because they are all treated as expendable. Not even the important ones are that impressive tbh. The Mortal Instruments did a better job building up its vampire world in its first book, and they are barely a part of it. To me, this was just lazy writing. Everything in the fantasy genre needs rules; this series took the pre-established rules we know and threw them out the window, and replaced them with nothing. That didn't make the vampires feel powerful and impossible to kill; it just left me as a viewer feeling like no one wanted to put any effort into building the world or writing it into the script, so they just gave us nothing.

I've liked Gawin's acting in the few things I've seen him in, but with this series, I didn't care for it. I believe that is largely down to the directions he was given and the script giving him very little to work with.

Besides Tonkla, because he was just a good self-sacrificing person, I didn't care about any of the characters, not even Dome, and I love AJ. I spent more time questioning Tong's IQ and common sense than I should have had to, and everyone else was just uninteresting. Mark was interesting as he slowly became more human, but not enough to draw any interest in me. I do wonder why Thara was so inhuman since she's drained multiple Golden Bloods. Wouldn't that have made her more human and feel some kind of guilt? Did something happen? Is it because of how old she is? How old is she really? Who was the first vampire, and how did it happen? These small things could have built the world up a little, but too little, too late.

NC scenes were probably the best part of the series, and I honestly only looked up from my phone if they were talking, but it wasn't enough to save the series. No matter how many they try to shove in there in the end. It felt like there was one or two in every episode after they "did it" for the first time.

Lastly, the sleeping beauty moment in the last episode? Please never do that again. Or if you are going to, make it make sense and don't half ass it.

So bad it ended up being good

What made me watch it? Joss + vampires.

I've been waiting for Joss to fully dive into the BL world for a long time. He and Gawin made a couple with good chemistry, but I still think their acting needs some improvement. The BL itself has a pretty weak plot and some really bad special effects. But honestly, it was exactly because it was bad that it gave us something to talk about every week. There was always something to comment on — whether it was a cheesy effect, a terrible plot decision, or just to laugh at the series in general. So I’d say it was so bad, it ended up being good.

I actually liked that they took a risk with the vampire theme, knowing it might not turn out great. And I have to highlight the actress who plays Thara — what an amazing woman!

Positives

Joss being hot

Vampires

Thara

Joss and Gawin’s chemistry

Over-the-top scenes (unintentionally funny)

Negatives

Special effects

Acting was just okay

Was excited but fell on my face

I was initially thrilled to hear about a new vampire-themed BL show, Unfortunately, the series failed to deliver on my expectations. The storyline was predictable. The music tried too hard to evoke emotions. I’m sorry to say this… but I’m disappointed. The CGI and special effects were ok.
I just feel sorry for the cast because they all did their best with what they were given. It seemed the screenwriters were hoping that having a good-looking cast would distract the audience from the poorly developed script.
Despite the attractive leads, the show's storytelling didn't capture my attention as a fantasy fan.
