I have to start with what rly bothered me the most.Music: It makes no freaking sense! When Mark steps out of the pool you can't understand what Tong's feeling bcuz the music is so confusing. It seems like he finds Mark hot but the music is trying to go for a mysterious feel but it isn't actually a mysterious music. I feel like I'm going insane just by trying to explain it.
Also every time Tong thinks abt the past the music isn't making sense. It takes me completely out.
Also it sometimes feels so intense but the scene, even tho is intense, isn't directed in an intense manner.
Directing: Pretty decent at times. I hated the minute Miss Nuan (the orphanage woman) came to ask who allowed Tong to play when there's literally only Tonkla in the shot. (I wonder who let Tong play...) Also the window shot looked better in the trailer. It made me laugh in the ep.
Acting: Honestly not as bad as I expected it to be. I know Joss is good and I watched Gawin in the past (KMA, DBK, NM, Enchante, P10Ls) and this is a different role from his previous ones and honestly I don't think it suits him at all. He doesn't have the face (and the body, let's be honest, he is muscular) for it. He is sharp and manly when the character is supposed to be cheerful and soft. I just don't believe he needs help with protecting himself or that he is naive. He is bigger than most ppl he is around only Joss makes him look small.
Side note: I love Joss and Gawin chemistry irl. They're so sweet and soft to watch. And seem very close and match eachother well. I just don't think Gawin was casted well in this.
Story: I was laughing so hard when Mark introduced himself to Tong as vampire. So twilight, so cringe. I know that it's hard to write vampires in a non cringe manner but that was something else.
I didn't like how they did the flashbacks to the past cause it was so random and messy. And tbh I just felt like they put so many moments just to get the ep runtime. It felt forced and unnecessary.
Overall I'm disappointed and now I'm scared abt revamp.

It’s a vampire show that’s a little pale
When I started watching My Golden Blood, I was excited to see how Joss and Gawin would perform as a team. I’ve followed Gawin before specially his songs but not familiar with Joss. However this show definitely shows all of Joss and his handsomeness.The story was shallow and lack direction yet there have been so many Vampire shows to draw comparison. Reminds me of the “Twilight” series with its lame acting and convoluted storyline.
Joss and Gawin deliver performances that are good but not great. Great acting comes from either digging deep into once life experience or excellent coaching. I’m not sure what was lacking here but their acting did not convince me at all. Again, why do thai fight scenes looks so rehearsed and staged. However, what’s lacking in their acting skills is made up by their chemistry. Their chemistry is felt and seen. The way Joss looks at Gawin there is a sparkle in his eyes. When Joss kisses Gawin there is absolute electricity.
Gawin’s song is beautiful and haunting and that’s expected from him. The production looked very cheap and the quality of the video camera and lighting was subpar.
Though the ending was expected I feel the character development of the main and support actor was very weak. Let’s hope their next project would be given the budget to create a show that highlights their skills and abilities.

I just had to come and mention how cheesy this actually is coming off now. I don’t think know if it’s the intention of the writing and directing but it is certainly the writing and directing that is giving off the cheesy telenovella vibe. I got transported back to early twilight days.Despite this the first episode was still fun to watch. I am unfamiliar with Joss as an actor so I will wait to give my opinion on him, but I do love Gawin. He has shined in previous roles that I’ve seen him in.
All in all will continue to see where the story goes and just how cheesy it’s gonna get.

I dropped the series
I couldn't watch past the fourth episode mostly because I'm hating Tong's character. It just doesn't sit right with me the way he acts so childish, the faces he makes and the way he talks idk I just feel weird. The editing its not that good either but it doesn't bother me that much, I think the plot had potential but they kind of ruined it with Tong's personality in my opinion.Was this review helpful to you?

As it's seen on the headline this series was slightly boring and I don't even know why.I genuinely love vampire stories but this just doesn't get to you in words that I can't really describe.Maybe it's because it drags the drama a lot which makes the series lengthy.Korean-like production would suit the series better in my opinion,30 minute per episode and 8 eps in total.Because we all knew what was going to happen between the couple from the start so you might as well get to it as soon as possible but also in a motion that we can savour the couple's great chemistry.Although I sensed some kind of betrayal from Thara,I could never predict I would love Nakan's character.They always have to make us like the side characters in the last few episodes!
Is it just me or Gawin's acting has really improved since be my favorite?He seems more comfortable while acting and doesn't look stiff in specific scenes which he did in Be My Favorite.Another possibility is that maybe he just acts bottom characters better though,I guess I'll never know.Then of course we have Joss.I'm always mesmerized by his looks and was glad to finally have a BL series with him.I enjoyed even boring scenes thanks to his looks.I find his acting also solid,I mean I wasn't obsessed to be honest but their chemistry made each lovey-dovey scene better that we could ignore some minor disturbances.
However,I found Tong's personality extremely annoying.Like,girl you are face to face with death and you still don't care about it and willing to pursue a relationship with a vampire who has the possibility of draining all your blood on a random Tuesday night.Not only you're like this but you also soothe him when he gets the urge to do that?I found this situation really desperate and nonsense but I couldn't really blame anyone for this because otherwise how were they even going to matchmake them?I don't have the answers for that but still,that seems illogical.The other reason why I found Tong's personality silly is that he uses the phrase "use my blood","you can get my blood" etc.Who in the world is willing to die like this?I personally haven't encountered one yet.In that scene,where they were trying to make someone talk to know where Nakan was,Tong told Mark to trust him and I sincerely thought we would get to see a reasonable solution for the problem but no!Our devoted golden blood just pricks himself and says "I'll let you taste my blood".Girl literally forgot that there are other vampires than Mark and Thara at the location.You can clearly see that Mark is holding someone one-armed and the vampire he's blocking doesn't even try to reach Tong.So this was also nonsense,I mean overall Tong was nonsense.
Throughout the series,the plot just didn't grab me.I couldn't find logical answers to my questions like why doesn't Nakan eat Tong anyways?He knows he's the golden blood but all he cares is getting a revenge on Thara?Come on,it doesn't make any sense.I mean there is that scene where he couldn't drink his blood but I thought it was because Mark was around,though the series never really explains the reason why Nakan couldn't reach him at that moment.I had liked the "21st birthday" thing but it was also somehow not surprising nor intriguing.
I loved how the musics were all made by Gawin and Joss.I enjoyed hearing their majestic voices in the episodes and it suits the drama perfectly.But would I listen to it again besides the drama?Probably not.
I have a lot of nonsense plots and superficial scenes in my mind to spot it out but I might as well not and just say that this series doesn't make any sense and even if you like vampire stories a lot and think you'll never be able to not like the series,I mean go for it,watch it.But I would consider this series as a casual BL drama rather than a well-done vampire series.I watched it while journaling so it was kind of more bearable like that.

The quality?
Yes it just started but I had to come and talk about the production so far! Finally a BL where one main lead isn’t distinguishable as a “top” and the other a “bottom”. But oh goodness the cgi?!? The production?!?! lol why is it giving low resolution. The editing giving wonky please! This is the same company that birthed moonlight chicken and Us the series so why is it giving low quality and low budget? Eu raramente escrevo resenhas de BLs que acompanho, mas *My Golden Blood* será um caso à parte. O drama ainda está no início, então minha opinião pode mudar com o tempo, mas já dá para comentar algumas coisas com base nos dois episódios disponíveis.
Os efeitos são ruins? Sim. Mas é exatamente isso que torna a série ainda melhor. Por mais que os efeitos não sejam de qualidade, a atuação de Joss e Gawin, além da química entre eles, compensa qualquer coisa. Sem contar a OST, que é simplesmente maravilhosa!
A história em si é interessante e envolvente, com bastante espaço para aprofundar os personagens. O enredo de humano e vampiro pode parecer clichê, mas a série sabe brincar com isso. E o melhor: My Golden Blood não se leva a sério o tempo todo. Há cenas bem engraçadas que trazem humor para a trama, tornando tudo mais divertido. Eles sabem que não é "aquela superprodução", então abraçam essa vibe de forma leve.
A atuação de Joss e Gawin continua incrível. Joss expressa muito bem as emoções do personagem, e Gawin também entrega um ótimo desempenho. Juntos, eles têm uma química forte que segura a série. E preciso repetir: a OST é simplesmente *perfeita*! Sou completamente apaixonada por essa música – a voz do Gawin, a melodia, a letra… tudo se encaixa perfeitamente.
Além disso, a série traz várias referências icônicas, desde Crepúsculo até Enrolados. Mesmo com os efeitos especiais duvidosos, a história consegue te prender. E sim, você vai rir muito dos efeitos, mas isso só deixa o BL ainda mais divertido. No fim, My Golden Blood é uma experiência que vale a pena!

A ideia é boa, a execução não
Terminei My Golden Blood e preciso dizer: eu até gostei, me envolvi com o casal principal, mas também passei raiva. A série é daquelas que têm uma ideia boa nas mãos, mas tropeça feio na hora de desenvolver. E o pior: tropeça onde não precisava.A história até começa bem. Um órfão, o Tong, descobre que tem um tipo de sangue raríssimo, o tal do "sangue dourado", e por causa disso, vira alvo de vampiros. Um deles é o Mark, que teoricamente tá ali pra protegê-lo, mas obviamente tem segundas intenções. Até aí tudo certo. Tem tensão, tem química, tem uma coisa meio “proibido, mas inevitável” entre os dois que funciona.
Só que logo nos primeiros episódios já dá pra sentir o problema: os diálogos são explicativos demais, como se os roteiristas não confiassem que o público vai entender sozinho. Tem muito personagem dizendo o óbvio, como se tivessem que desenhar tudo. E ao mesmo tempo, faltam momentos mais naturais pra gente se apegar de verdade aos personagens. O desenvolvimento das relações acontece muito no automático. Parece que o roteiro foi seguindo uma lista: cena de ciúme? Confere. Descoberta trágica? Confere. Beijo depois da ameaça de morte? Confere. E pronto, seguimos.
O pior é que quando o roteiro tenta ser profundo, escorrega. A questão da origem do sangue do Tong, o passado do Mark, a ameaça do irmão vilão, tudo é tratado de forma meio superficial. São temas que poderiam render bem mais, mas que acabam resolvidos rápido demais ou jogados no final como se não fossem tão importantes. E aí fica aquela sensação de que a série teve medo de aprofundar.
Agora, sobre os efeitos… tem umas cenas que eu juro que quase desliguei. Tem pulo de janela que parece vídeo de videogame antigo, vampiro correndo no escuro com rastro de luz atrás, que era pra ser dramático, mas ficou tosco. E as lutas? Claramente cortadas pra esconder que não sabiam coreografar direito. Em vez de criar tensão, dá risada. É como se o orçamento tivesse acabado na maquiagem do primeiro episódio.
O engraçado é que a série tem uma estética que podia funcionar. As cores, a iluminação, a trilha sonora, tudo conversa com essa ideia sensual e sombria do universo vampírico. Só que o efeito especial mal feito quebra o clima. Em vez de entrar na cena, você sai. Você lembra que tá vendo uma série, e pior: uma série que podia ser melhor se tivesse um pouco mais de esmero.
Mesmo assim, confesso que o casal me pegou. Gawin entrega bem como o Tong, tem uma vulnerabilidade sincera ali, e o Joss, mesmo com aquele jeitão travado, convence como vampiro que tenta controlar os próprios instintos. O romance deles tem uma intensidade boa, sem exagero. É mais no olhar, no gesto contido, nas cenas de silêncio do que no texto. Pelo menos isso segura o clima.
Mas no geral, My Golden Blood é mais promissora do que bem executada. A ideia era boa, o universo tinha potencial, mas faltou coragem no roteiro e capricho na produção. Fica aquela sensação de "quase". Quase foi uma grande série. Quase foi inesquecível. Quase me arrancou um surto. Mas parou no meio do caminho.
No fim, eu me importei, sim. O casal tem química. A história por mais superficial que fosse, me prendeu. Mas se alguém me perguntar se é maravilhosa… eu vou respirar fundo e responder: é boa, mas precisava de mais cuidado. Porque, sinceramente, com um roteiro mais afiado e efeitos menos vergonhosos, ela podia ter sido muito mais do que só “ok”.

I was actually scared at first but I really admired Jossun's acting, especially his chemistry with Gawin is extremely good, I really liked it. Both the plot and the acting of the series, in my opinion, the best plot and couple chemistry ever made. Especially Joosun's calm, quiet but wise demeanor despite being his first BL series, and although I haven't fully grasped the story yet, I really like the chemistry between Mark and Tong, and I know that no matter what, Mark will take good care of baby Tong. História boa com um plot envolvendo a Srt. Thara que da pra adiantar, mas não deixa de ser bom. Tem cenas engraçadas por causa de uns CGIs toscos, mas que não atrapalham a experiência. A morte do Tonkla digna de novela indiana. Recomendo pra assistirem, mas não veria de novo.Fecho essa séria com uma nota de 8/10!
