Loving the show...the chemistry between gawin and joss is damn good look perfect on the screen. Direction is so different and new .. scenes are treat to watch ,the way it's picturised is amazing.. all in all I'm obsessed with the show. There is romance, fantasy, a bit of comedy, and drama.
The show is based on vampire and human . A love story between a vampire and human which is very new in Thai bl and story telling of show is cool like pace of the show is bang , not too slow nor fast .
I'm amazed with the direction actually..seen so many bls but this is different from other not Just story wise but also the way it is presented.
There are various scenes which is treat to watch..!!

If Twilight was a BL it would be this.

Predictable trope and climax yet powerful acting and chemistry. It was a rollercoaster full of sadness, happiness, some funny scenes and most importantly the NCs. Jossgawin chemistry did not disappoint however i wish they could have gotten a better story lien to show their acting. Gawin has done BL after a very long time ad this show was kinda not at par with his potentiality.
Hope to see them again very soon.
Great one time watch.

I Can't Do it ?

I tried, I really did, and I'm at least happy that I tried. But, I had a feeling this just wasn't going to be my cup of tea, and that never changed.

Let's Dive In.

My Golden Blood has a unique (I think? I don't watch supernatural shows like that, lol) spin on a vampire love story. Gawin's character has golden blood that most vampires want, and Joss' character is the one that protects him from those getting to it. I knew this wasn't going to be for me when, in the very first episode, they explain how Mark has been looking after Tong since he was born. Uh-Oh. No. So you've watched him grow up (as a grown up) and still chose to fall for him...? Okay...

Honestly, people had warn me that the CGI would be the part o the series I didn't like, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. Not as bad as people had made it out to be. It was fine, nothing special, but exactly what I aspected from a GMMTV series.

The only thing keeping me was Gawin. I absolutely love him so much, and his acting in this is spectacular. Not his best work, but definitely in the top three, and I didn't even finish this. Some stuff about Joss had come out whilst this was airing. He was basically following a bunch of right-wing politicians, which felt incredibly weird for the role in which he plays in the BL world. I think he has since unfollowed most of them, but it definitely stained his image for me. Not enough to not watch his work, but enough to never (probably never) praise anything he's in.

Anyway, outside of that, I just can't. There's nothing in this that is keeping me here. I don't care for the plot, I don't care about the outcome, and they've kissed enough, so I get the memo.

Ratings:

Story: 4/10 - Just not my cup of tea. I think the first episode does have great set up, but there was nothing keeping me engaged.

Acting: 8/10 - Gawin was doing incredible! I'm sure he keep doing better throughout. Also, MOND.

Music: 5/10 - I didn't pay it any attention.

Recommendation Value: 2/10 - If you like corny vampire stories, sure. Also, there is one scene where Joss is shirtless coming out of the water if that helps.

Started Fairly Strong - Gradually Losing Steam

The first few episodes seemed promising. Interesting plot idea, somewhat out of the ordinary for BL. Good cinematography, good lighting, Some believable affection (episode 5/6). I initially rated it 8. Um Apasiri and
Ya Janya are spot on. Joss Way-ar, Fluke Gawin, Neo Trai also perform well.

But over time, the pacing gets progressively slower. The conflict between the vampires that motivates the plot, loses its steam and by episode 7, the series begins to feel like a cliche thriller. There is no gradual revelation of what the conflict is, and I'm afraid we'll never get one. The writers can't decide whether that conflict is important or just a way to run out the clock. There is little action and whatever insights the characters gain are very basic. The intimacy that develops between the leads (Mark and Tong) seems inconsistent. We get mostly bromance, a few BL tropes, and an occasional realistic portrayal of intimacy. Who is the audience for this sort of writing? In an effort to make it more interesting, we started watching at 1.25x speed. Eventually we just amused ourselves in our smart phones while keeping an eye on the video in case something actually happened. It is so frustrating, I can only watch one episode a day. I don't know if I can make it through the whole series now.

Disappointed

The drama was announced in December of 2023 i think and I was so excited because of gawin he was getting a better role...the plot looked so interesting and everything seemed perfect but when it aired even the first episode was so low effort... almost 9 episodes down and it's still as bad as it can get... just shirtless dudes...no plot... terrible acting...I think joss should stick with whatever he was doing before this... because it isn't his Cup of tea...gawin gets so unlucky everytime...my man deserves better...he needs a better partner lol....what is wrong with gmm...the one i liked him with was first but he's better with khao...also i don't know why people will defend a show that is so low effort like if you don't criticise it now... they'll continue with a grain worth of efforts in every drama ....and make easy money with all those shitty sponsorships lol.
Also whats with writer/ director turned the so called "bottoms" into this fairy Princess who can't protect or defend themselves unless a man "the top" comes to rescue like please give them some common sense and a back bone... he's like the bollywood heroine in the 90s era who needs protection at every step they take...like dude what is this...also the side characters are not even interesting enough to keep watching this drama... killing tonkla was so boring...and the supposed villians are not villainy enough.
I know it's an angry rant because i really really wanted this to be good.

The Chemistry Was Real, The Plot Was Not.

I went into My Golden Blood because of Gawin ever since I saw him in Not Me, I’ve been drawn to his acting, and he completely stole my heart in Be My Favorite. I also knew of Joss through Gawin’s Instagram, and their real-life closeness made me excited to see how that chemistry would translate onscreen. So naturally, I was curious and hopeful about this series.

And to be fair, My Golden Blood had its moments. The setup was fun, quirky, and refreshingly weird a vampire plot mixed with BL romance? I'm in. But as the story unfolded, it became clear that the writing didn't quite know what it wanted to be. It tried to balance campy fantasy, mafia drama, and heartfelt romance, but didn’t fully commit to any of them. The result was an uneven story that often felt more chaotic than cohesive.

The acting was decent. Gawin brought charm and presence as always, and Joss has natural charisma, but the script didn’t give them enough to work with emotionally. Their chemistry, while cute in places, never got the depth it deserved. I wanted more build-up, more tension, and a lot more sincerity behind the romantic moments.

As for rewatch value? Honestly, low. It was entertaining enough for one viewing, especially if you're there for the actors, but it doesn't leave much to come back to. Once the novelty wears off, there's not much underneath.

My Golden Blood is a light, mildly chaotic watch, more for fans of the actors than for those looking for a strong narrative or deep emotional payoff. I don’t regret watching it, but I wish it had taken itself just a bit more seriously.

Bored and Disappointed

I had no expectations going into this show. That being said, what the hell happened?

First off, the little things. The speed effects & CGI were bad, and the OST was way too loud at times. Also, was that last scene filmed in front of a green screen?

The first couple of episodes were alright, but by episode 5, I found myself doomscrolling while the show played in the background, and I started watching it at x2 speed just to get through it.

I lost count of the number of times I wanted to DNF this series, but I didn't because of Neo. Then they kill him unnecessarily. They could have saved him if they wanted to. Why was Mark trying to heal him while he was still impaled? If it was too late for healing once you pulled him off, turn him. And you can try to argue that they needed permission because they can't die afterward—bullshit. 1. I'm sure Tonkla would have chosen to live & 2. I'm sure taking their head off or piercing the heart, even without having "golden blood," would kill them. I thought about dropping the show after he was killed by Nakan (whom I was hoping to see him have a romance with), but at that point, there were only 3 episodes left, so I pushed through it.

The plot was also way too predictable. I should not have known that Thara was after Golden Bloods for her own personal gain, episode 1. That twist doesn't even get revealed until episode 10. Was anyone really surprised by this? Nakan wanting to take her down because she killed someone he loved was also not a surprise at all. The biggest surprise was that they actually killed Tonkla because he was the only good character in the whole show, and killing him off was just a stupid decision. They should have just gone with an enemies-to-lovers trope and at least tried to save their sinking ship a little instead of letting it capsize.

The world-building was very surface-level and made everything feel fake. The lore of vampires is never properly explained, but we have no idea what normal vampire abilities are because they are all treated as expendable. Not even the important ones are that impressive tbh. The Mortal Instruments did a better job building up its vampire world in its first book, and they are barely a part of it. To me, this was just lazy writing. Everything in the fantasy genre needs rules; this series took the pre-established rules we know and threw them out the window, and replaced them with nothing. That didn't make the vampires feel powerful and impossible to kill; it just left me as a viewer feeling like no one wanted to put any effort into building the world or writing it into the script, so they just gave us nothing.

I've liked Gawin's acting in the few things I've seen him in, but with this series, I didn't care for it. I believe that is largely down to the directions he was given and the script giving him very little to work with.

Besides Tonkla, because he was just a good self-sacrificing person, I didn't care about any of the characters, not even Dome, and I love AJ. I spent more time questioning Tong's IQ and common sense than I should have had to, and everyone else was just uninteresting. Mark was interesting as he slowly became more human, but not enough to draw any interest in me. I do wonder why Thara was so inhuman since she's drained multiple Golden Bloods. Wouldn't that have made her more human and feel some kind of guilt? Did something happen? Is it because of how old she is? How old is she really? Who was the first vampire, and how did it happen? These small things could have built the world up a little, but too little, too late.

NC scenes were probably the best part of the series, and I honestly only looked up from my phone if they were talking, but it wasn't enough to save the series. No matter how many they try to shove in there in the end. It felt like there was one or two in every episode after they "did it" for the first time.

Lastly, the sleeping beauty moment in the last episode? Please never do that again. Or if you are going to, make it make sense and don't half ass it.

Chemistry is not enough

My Golden Blood is a great example of chemistry not being enough. Yes, Joss and Gawin were a good pairing, but this series doesn't give them a platform to show their best performances. It's worse for Gawin, since we've seen him in different BLs, and Be My Favorite was his best performance, in my opinion. Joss was overly robotic in this series, which I imagine was meant to portray what was expected from a vampire. Apart from the acting, the story, and especially the visual effects, bring the series down. There's literally no plot to make this show 12 episodes long. I went into the finale with very low expectations, but the Eiffel Tower scene managed to surprise me with how bad it looked. GMM shouldn’t do fantasy series if they don’t want to spend the money (which we know they have).

Cringe!

It's been awhile since I've watched BL and I'm disappointed to say this is the first one I've watched in a long time. The story/plot could've been better I guess but I'm not sure how. Just think BL, low budget, Asian Twilight. I wasn't a fan AT ALL of Fluke/Tong's acting. Everytime he pursed his lips it sent me into a rage of cringe lol The beginning and end were the best parts. Everything got lost in the middle and just got too tacky. Wouldn't recommend for someone just getting into BL

Not the highest of Thai BLs, but worth watching at least once

That series is one of those, where everything works pretty well with each other and is very enjoyable... except the plot. The plot hinges on induced stupidity and characters not questioning things around them + it's very predictable. 90% of "plottwists" in this series are matters of 2 questions main characters could have (and should have, given the context) asked in the first 3 episodes. It's a bad sign, when supernatural show's story demands more suspension of disbelief than actual supernatural elements. It's not dramatically bad, but induces eye rolls after certain point.

7-8/10 for acting, chemistry and overall experiece (music was ok, but forgetable)
6/10 for the plot

My Golden Blood — A Strong Vampire Drama Dominated by Joss and Gawin

I actually enjoyed My Golden Blood more than I expected. Vampire stories in BL can easily become either ridiculous or overly dramatic, but this one manages to create an atmosphere that works quite well. The story clearly follows the classic vampire romance formula, and at times it even reminds you of Twilight, but it still keeps enough personality to remain entertaining.

The main issue for me was the casting choice for the central dynamic. In this kind of story, one character is usually supposed to feel fragile or vulnerable compared to the powerful vampire protecting him. Visually, Gawin simply doesn’t give that impression. He looks strong, confident, and physically imposing. When you see him on screen, it’s hard to immediately believe that he’s the weaker side of the relationship. However, what saves the character completely is his acting. Gawin is an excellent actor and clearly understands how to adapt his performance to the emotional needs of the role. Even though his appearance doesn’t naturally fit the “fragile” archetype, he manages to portray vulnerability and emotional sensitivity convincingly. In the end, his acting compensates for the casting choice and makes the story work.

His pairing with Joss also helps balance the dynamic. Joss has an incredibly strong presence on screen. He looks masculine, confident, and dominant in the way he carries himself. That energy creates the contrast needed for the relationship to function. Without that contrast, the casting might have felt much more awkward.

The downside of having such a powerful duo is that they almost overpower the rest of the cast. Whenever Joss and Gawin share a scene, they dominate the screen so strongly that the other characters struggle to stand out. Even someone as talented as Um Apasiri — who is normally fantastic in villain roles — ends up feeling less impactful simply because the main couple attracts so much attention.

The production itself also deserves credit. The overall quality of the series feels polished, and you can clearly sense the influence of experienced creators behind the project. Knowing Aof Noppharnach’s work on dramas like Moonlight Chicken and A Tale of Thousand Stars, it’s not surprising that the storytelling feels structured and visually consistent. His previous collaboration with Gawin in Dark Blue Kiss probably also helped shape the performance here.

Final Thought

My Golden Blood is a good supernatural BL with a solid story and a very strong central duo. Even though the casting initially feels questionable for the character dynamic, Gawin’s acting manages to overcome that challenge and keep the relationship believable. Combined with Joss’s powerful screen presence and strong production support, the drama becomes an enjoyable vampire story that stands out in the BL genre.

Where Romance Excels and Worldbuilding Could Have Gone Further

❗️*** SPOLIERS***❗️

This review is inherently biased — and I’m owning that immediately. But please give this show a chance.

I genuinely connected with the central pairing. Gawin (Tong) and Joss (Mark) have subtle, restrained chemistry built on micro-expressions, sustained eye contact, and emotional pauses rather than theatrics. Their performances feel grounded and collaborative, and the nuance in their acting is consistently impressive.

Now, yes — the first episode is a little campy. The tone, sound design, and some of the vampire movement effects had me blinking (cough Twilight cough). But the show quickly finds its rhythm, and the production improves as the story progresses.

Where things get more complicated is the mythology. The golden blood concept, the covenant system, the prohibition against drinking human blood, and the introduction of unique abilities all show strong creativity. There’s clearly a solid conceptual foundation. The ideas are imaginative and ambitious.

However, the mechanics aren’t always clearly defined. If vampires can’t drink human blood, what sustains them? Is abstinence moral, biological, or both? Does golden blood function as literal blood, or as something closer to essence? Joss’s golden blood seems to affect more than just blood exchange — tears and sweat imply something broader. Mark’s gradual sensory and emotional shift suggests proximity to golden blood alters vampire nature itself. It’s fascinating — but underexplained.

The same ambiguity applies to individualized vampire abilities. Strength and speed are universal, but some characters have healing, mind control, or prophetic vision. Are these tied to bloodline, past lives, trauma, randomness? The show doesn’t fully say. And listen — I understand this is fantasy. Creative liberties come with the genre, and sometimes we just roll with it. I’m not asking for a scientific dissertation. I just want a little more internal context so the rules feel intentional rather than incidental.

That said — this is a creativity issue in execution, not imagination. The framework is there. With clearer structural rules, the worldbuilding could have been incredibly cohesive. As it stands, some moments feel implied rather than intentionally layered.

Where the show truly shines is dialogue and emotional writing.

In Episode 5, when Mark reads the highlighted line from Pride and Prejudice — “I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun” — it’s beautifully placed. The thematic alignment with emotional awakening is chef’s kiss.

And Mark’s later confession? Entirely original. Lines like:

“This is the first time I love and care for someone.”

“If vampires are withered flowers, we’ll make them bloom.”

“If I were to kiss you and go to hell, I would — so I could brag to the devils that I saw heaven without entering.”

The cadence feels like contemporary romantic literature. The writing is poetic, surprisingly elegant, and beautifully preserved even in translation. The series absolutely earns points for its emotional resonance and creative ambition.

⚠️ I haven’t read the original My Golden Blood novel by Dawin, so I can’t tell whether the unanswered mechanics and plot gaps originate in the source material or emerged during adaptation. It’s entirely possible the novel explains the golden blood system more clearly and that details were streamlined for television. If anyone familiar with the book knows, I’d genuinely love to hear.

Overall, the show is decent — and more than that, it’s creatively ambitious. It may not be structurally perfect, but it has strong chemistry, thoughtful romantic writing, and a clear artistic vision. Some viewers focus heavily on the inconsistencies, which are valid critiques — but I think that sometimes overshadows what the show genuinely does well.

It feels like a diamond in the rough. Not flawless. Not airtight in mechanics. But emotionally compelling, original within its niche, and undeniably sincere.

My Golden Blood isn’t perfect, but it’s powerful where it matters most.
