So wattpad coded I can’t believe my eyes

Vampire BL with tsundere male lead? Yeah, sign me up right now.

Joss is not my first choice to play a vampire (Jeff Satur, anyone?) because I hardly think of vampires as tanned, muscly dudes but okay I’m not complaining. Joss is sooo fiiiiiine. He makes Gawin look small next to him. Their chemistry and tension is better than expected and they’re really quite cute.

But storyline-wise, My Golden Blood doesn’t do so well. It can only be described as the Wattpad-iest BL to hit our shores.

Vampire-themed BLs are few and far between and I was really looking forward to this one. The key conflict in the series is the civil war amongst the vampires, which made for a promising plot.

But unfortunately, the conflict was one-dimensional and the plot came off as overly manufactured and silly. The storyline just didn’t have enough for us to take this seriously.

Verdict: Somewhat disappointing

Review: “My Golden Blood” (2025) – A Beautiful Mess with a Golden Heart

Overall Rating: ★★★★☆ (8 / 10)
Rating: 8/10 overall
Music: 10/10
Rewatch Value: 7.5/10
Story: 7/10
Casting: 7/10

When I first heard that Joss Wayar was going to star in a BL series, I was literally shook. I never saw it coming! Joss has always been that actor with an incredible range, but to see him dive into the BL world was both surprising and exciting. And not only that—pairing him with Gawin Caskey? The undisputed King of OSTs? That alone already made “My Golden Blood” a must-watch for me.

The Music: A Standout Masterpiece (10/10)
Let me start with the music because—WOW. As expected, Gawin Caskey delivered big time. The OSTs in this series were on another level—English OSTs in a Thai BL series. Every scene with magical, romantic, or emotional weight hit even harder because of the background music. Romantic moments, action scenes, and even the quiet ones were elevated because of the sound design and score. Definitely a highlight and something I’d listen to outside the series.

The Story: Potential, But Rushed (7/10)
Now here’s where the series falls a little short: the story. Don’t get me wrong—it had so much potential. The concept of “Golden Blood” as a life-saving element mixed with a romantic BL plot was a genius idea, but the execution felt... rushed. The pacing seemed off, like they were trying to cram too much into too little time. You could tell there was more to explore with the lore of the Golden Blood, but they barely scratched the surface.

Also, the final episodes left me confused and a bit unsatisfied. Like—what really happened?! Tong dies, but then suddenly comes back to life because of Mark’s golden blood?! Then he’s dying again, and Mark feeds him more blood to save him?! I was like, “Wait, what?!” ”Is he alive, dead, alive again?! ”It felt like they tried to wrap up everything too quickly, and it ended up being more messy than emotional.

The Cast: Star Power with Gaps (7/10)
Of course, Joss and Gawin had chemistry. They played off each other really well, especially in the tender moments. I loved Mark’s soft but protective energy and how Tong tried to be strong but was clearly broken inside. But aside from the main leads and a few standouts like Neo and Mond, the rest of the cast felt... missing.

I wish they gave Mark a proper sidekick—maybe a loyal best friend who could also provide comic relief or emotional balance. Someone, either a strong female or an energetic boy character, to match the intensity. Ms. Thana had a lot of potential too, especially as a guardian-type or secret action hero figure, but they barely gave her any fight scenes or backstory. Such a waste.

Also, I kept hoping for some jealousy tension! Like maybe introduce a new boy character who’s into Tong, and Mark starts feeling insecure, or the other way around. That would’ve added layers to their bond and made the romance even more intense. But sadly, that kind of plot was left unexplored.

Rewatch Value: Moderate (7.5/10)
I’d rewatch it for the music, the visuals, and, of course, the chemistry between Joss and Gawin. But knowing the plot holes and rushed storytelling, it might not hit as hard the second time around. Still, some scenes are worth revisiting just for how beautifully they were shot and scored.

Final Thoughts:
“My Golden Blood” is a series that shines brightly because of its leads, soundtrack, and aesthetic, but it suffers from underdeveloped plot points and a lack of full character arcs. It had everything it needed to be iconic: a bold concept, a stunning cast, and an emotionally rich premise. But it played it too safe, too fast.

With a few more episodes, deeper side characters, and stronger writing, this could’ve easily been a 10/10. Still, for what it was, I’m grateful we got to see Joss Wayar take on a BL role and that we got Gawin Caskey doing what he does best—singing and acting his heart out.

Would I recommend it? Yes—especially if you’re a fan of either actor. Just be ready to fill in some blanks with your own imagination.

My Golden Blood: A Missed Opportunity for a Promising Pair

I came into My Golden Blood with genuine curiosity, especially knowing it marked the debut of Josh and Gawin under GMMTV. Unfortunately, while the potential was there, the final product didn’t quite deliver.

Acting-wise, Gawin clearly carried more weight—he was consistently more grounded and expressive in his performance. Josh, though visually fitting for the role, often lagged a few steps behind in terms of emotional depth and delivery. Their chemistry had flashes of connection, but not enough consistency to sustain the emotional beats the story aimed for.

The special effects? Sometimes unintentionally funny. They pulled me out of the already shaky narrative rather than enhancing it.

As for the storyline—this is where things really fell apart for me. I understand taste is subjective, but this plot desperately needed a full rewrite. The premise had room to be something fun or even heartfelt, but the execution was superficial and lacking coherence. I struggled to feel any real emotional tension, angst, or even investment in the main relationship. Nothing really hooked me.

That said, Thara’s actress was a pleasant surprise. She brought nuance and energy to a role that could’ve easily been forgettable. Kudos to her.

In the end, I hoped for a stronger first outing from JoshGawin under the GMMTV umbrella. Let’s be frank—almost any story could have been a better debut vehicle than this one. Here’s to better scripts and stronger direction in the future. The actors deserve it.

Gawin please don't put me through this ever again

I have to preface this review by saying I love Gawin. That being said, this drama was like a trial to see how far I'd go and how shit of a show I would watch just to watch him. I braved through all 12 episodes and got rewarded with the funniest Eiffel Tower CGI scene, but was it worth it? Was this camp or was this just pure garbage? I honestly can't say.

Let's start with the pros because there weren't many:
1. CGI were funny as fuck like it reminds me of movie parodies. I thoroughly enjoyed laughing at it, thank you GMMTV.
2. Gawin with the contacts......... holy mama that was sexy.
3. The OST is so easy on the ears.

Cons - can't list them all bc there were too many:
1. Plot really missed the mark. They don't have the budget or production means to take themselves too seriously. If this had gone to a more campy route, I'd rate it higher. However the laughs I had weren't consistent and the scenes that aren't laugh worthy are just Not Good.

2. Although I can't guarantee Joss is straight, I just think he has to much heterosexuality in his gaze for someone who is paid to kiss men on screen. Like he could be groping Gawin's ass and it would do nothing for me because I tdon't think his heart was in it. There should be more passion and yearning when it comes to groping but hey what do I know. Idk why but he was more believable in 3WBF. I did NOT buy his acting at all here. Did he get paid less for this series?

3. Action scenes were boring and honestly a lot of them felt pointless. A lot of them did nothing to move the plot forward.

4. Nakhan was too much of an evil witch to have a redemption arc at the end. Not redemption arc even - they tried to frame him as one of the good guys. Bro with all the shit he pulled........ nice try buddy you're not getting out of my naughty boy jail.

5. The casting is just wrong bro. Please never touch a script like this ever again Gawin I'm begging you. Playing a playful. childish 20 year old really stretched his acting limits even if I consider him one of the more versatile BL actors.

Anyways, watch if you want, but there are better things to do with your time such as:
- falling in love with a non vampire (Tong can't relate)
- not go near a pole that you could potentially impale yourself on (RIP Tonkla)
- drink anything but that tomato juice that looks like ass

the production

i don't think i have any major complaints besides the production, this drama would've been 10x better if it weren't for the capcut like editing, because this series have so much potential to be big especially with gawin as one of the main characters
if we're talking on-screen chemistry it's pretty decent, sometimes for me it feels forced but other than that it's okay
the characters they're portraying have a really interesting back story too, so I'm looking forward to see how this series go

Unfortunately infuriating

[I will tag where the spoilers begin]

What can I even say about this show. A vampire plot that lacks any real vampire aspects, special effects that were laughable at best, and a script that was missing any kind of depth all rolled up into one show. The acting unfortunately fell flat, and I don't know whether to blame the lack of chemistry between the actors, the script writing, or the directing but I think I could blame all three if I wanted to. Every episode of this show made me more upset than the last, even though I kept trying to see if it would get good. All I wanted was some classic vampire romance - the fear of being bitten, the tension in a kiss scene, broken trust because of a vampire's true desire - and instead I got a college basketball tournament, a half-baked evil vampire, and a relationship lacking any real tension. I really hope that the fault lies in the crew and not the cast - I wanted to like JossGawin, but truly could not get invested in them as a couple during this show.

Tong (Gawin) has been raised in an orphanage. When he goes off to college, he ends up helping his friend at a job, where he unknowingly works with a bunch of vampires. It is quickly revealed that he has golden blood, irresistible to vampires because of the special powers it gives them. Mark (Joss) is a vampire tasked with protecting Tong from other vampires, but soon their relationship becomes more than that of a bodyguard.

*Spoilers start here*

I truly don't know how they went SO WRONG with this plot. I can get over bad special effects or clunky dialogue, but oh my god this show was actually infuriating. You're telling me Tong gets attacked by Mark because of his blood and this causes ZERO issues with their relationship? There was no real conflicts besides the whole "does he love me or does he just love my blood" which wasn't even well thought out! And then Neo's character dying out of nowhere, without any kind of "let's turn him into a vampire to save him"??? That's the oldest plot in the book!! Why was the basketball tournament so important in a VAMPIRE SHOW??? I really think there was no need to set this show in college - it adds nothing to the actual plot and instead just feels like an excuse for GMM to reuse one of the sets they've used before. Mond played the only character that I actually liked, because at least he was INTERESTING! Joss and Gawin really gave me nothing to work with here. They were always crammed in a tiny bathtub together, or Gawin was staring at Joss shirtless (which, I get it, but why is he shirtless THAT often), and somehow they STILL didn't have chemistry. I was hoping that at least during the makeout scenes when there wasn't any awkward dialogue that the relationship would have some tension, but somehow that STILL fell flat. Even the "twist" in the real villain was predictable from episode one.

This one just fell SO flat for me. While there wasn't any one thing that made it bad, the combo of a lot of small things made this show hard to watch. I really wanted to like it, especially because I think vampire plots are super cool, but I just can't recommend this to anyone.

It’s just a big NO

For a company that makes money, making such a series is a crime. The story is good, really good. I love story about vampire ( I Watch so many Times the moovie Twilight). But that series is a big NO. when I see special effect, I was like «😬». You make money and you drop this ? just Nooooooo. The acting of Joss and Gawin. Noooooo. episode 11 when Mark came back ? the hug ? no emotions. it was just cringy. company with less money… make better than this. Quality is better than quantity. GMMTV, if you make 3 series for years and these series are good with good acting, good story and good special effect is better than 70 series with bad acting, bad story and bad special effect.

Failed

When it comes to a vampire story, you expect at least darkness, special effects and a sense of danger, but not on this channel.
The vampire story has become just another sleepy romance story, with dubious acting.
I think everyone wonders where the money is going and there you can see that they don't value any actor's performance. For me, this kind of story has to have interesting villains. Those who you think will bring danger to the protagonists. In the end, it seems more like a boring school story.

It was 3B for me : Boring, Bullshit, BL

Where do I even start…

From the very beginning, the show just didn’t grab me. It felt weak and unconvincing right off the bat. I honestly feel sorry for Joss and Gawin there was so much potential, but it was completely wasted.
The direction was poor, and the screenwriting? It was an absolute mess. So many plot holes and nonsensical scenes it almost felt like an insult to the audience’s intelligence, as if we were expected to accept anything without question.

Finishing this series was a real struggle for me, and that says a lot considering I usually binge dramas in one go.
I found it painfully boring and kept hoping it would eventually pick up. Sadly, it never did.
As someone who loves vampire-themed shows, the whole thing felt so inconsistent, and I was left deeply disappointed.
The story was so incoherent that by the end, I honestly had no idea what was even happening.

This is, without a doubt, in my top 5 worst BL shows and trust me, I’ve watched a lot.
This is actually the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a comment, just because I genuinely can’t believe what I watched.

I did enjoy the love scenes only when viewed as isolated scenes as I felt the chemistry at those moment. Within the context of the story, they made no sense. It felt more like they threw in a few steamy moments just to please fans, without any real buildup or emotional depth.

One of the few redeeming qualities was the OST, I have to give credit there. The songs were well-produced and quite enjoyable.

Overall, as someone who’s been part of the BL fandom for a long time, I’d rate My Golden Blood a 4.5/10. It's a huge disappointment with a lot of missed opportunities.

I won’t be rewatching it ever, it really felt like a waste of time.

Great Disappointment

The show began with a strong opening episode that was interesting, sophisticated, and intriguing. But after just a few episodes, the plot stagnated into what felt like a mediocre university BL drama, with unremarkable side characters and little substance. By the time the story circles back to the main plot, it feels weak, inconsistent, and disappointingly predictable. Even the supposed plot twists come off as dull.

The central vampire storyline is mostly present in name only. There’s no real exploration of the concept, and the whole vampire theme, especially the idea of “Golden Blood”, adds little to no value. Very little is said or done with these elements. Instead, the series focuses almost entirely on Mark and Ton’s love story, which unfolds like any other typical university BL, complete with the cliché beach trip.

What’s especially disappointing is the lack of development for the two prominent side characters. Tonkla (played by Neo) is a wasted opportunity, his character has no depth, no personality, and no meaningful role in the story. He simply appears at the right moments to be manipulated and drive the plot forward, only to be discarded or forgotten in the next episode. There is no evolution or growth whatsoever. I genuinely feel bad for Neo, this role gave him nothing to work with, not even a proper love arc.

Nakan, on the other hand, is positioned as a manipulative, cruel villain, but he barely appears. When he does, he feels more like a cartoon villain than a real threat. Later, it’s revealed that he has an emotional motivation behind his actions, but that storyline is never developed. Most viewers likely missed that his “special one” was also a Golden Blood victim, and we don’t even get a flashback or memory to support that plot point.

One thing that stood out to me is that neither Nakan nor Tonkla had a romantic arc. I wonder whether they were originally meant to be the second couple, and that storyline was later scrapped or rewritten, which would explain the lack of cohesion and depth, wich both characters share. After all, both actors were heavily featured in the promotional posters, which doesn’t reflect their minor and underdeveloped roles in the series. Just a theory.

In the end, I found myself dragging through each episode, just trying to finish the series, but it honestly wasn’t worth it. I would have preferred something like Kidnap, where even though the plot goes off track, the acting and character development keep you engaged. Unfortunately, this seems to be becoming a pattern with GMM shows: great trailers, promising casts, strong first episodes, and then everything falls apart. I really hope they improve the quality of storytelling and narrative in future projects.

All over the place. The idea was good but the screnenwriters had no idea how to handle it.

Also, please Gawin, never, ever do another virginal character ever again because it doesn't fit you. After seeing him as Dan in Not Me and especially Piseang in Be My Favorite his character here gave me the cringe factor up the wazoo. Gawin deserves better characters, he's too much talented for these embarrassing ones. Anyway, the idea of vampires was good but it gave me so many twilight feels all the time and that wasn't good. I know people love Joss and he's ok I guess but sometimes he was way too stony for my liking. As for his chemistry with Gawin? Sorry but I didn't feel it they seemed way more like buddies than two men who were supposedly in love. Back to the story sometimes the villains were good, and sometimes they were bad. If only they writers would have come up with a better plot this story would have worked better. The twist aout Ms. Tara wasn't really a twist because I saw it coming from the first episode. I'm only giving this a 7.0 because Gawin Caskey is one of my favorite actors, he did his best and kept me watching this tripe. As for the rest a 5 would be suffice.

Twilight with a BL style

PLOT: Tong (a supposedly hemophiliac orphan) leaves the orphanage with his friend Tonkla to go to university. Tong takes odd jobs (waiter), during which he cuts himself. Mark gradually gets closer to Tong, protecting him from all those who want his Golden Blood.

+++ Excellent, convincing actors: Joss Way-ar Sangngern, Gawin, Mond, and the villain Um Apasiri Nitibhon.
+++ Effective direction: good pacing, high-quality effects, excellent OSTs.
+++ Coherent storyline
+++ Satisfactory HE

### Nothing truly unexpected, some plot holes, some clichés.

=> Entertaining, well acted and well made, but not memorable either.
*************************************************

+++ Storyline cohérente
+++ HE satisfaisante

### Rien de vraiment inattendu, qq plot holes, qq clichés.

=> Distrayant, bien joué et bien réalisé, mais pas mémorable non plus.
