A typical filler c

This drama starts off pretty okay and then takes us on a journey of all thing predictable, boring and dare I say kind of annoying... I have issues with the plot and though I did like the female lead most of the time and admit the leads had nice kisses it was just not enough to have me care about any of the progress or characters towards the end....

There are som nice lines, sweet smiles, longing, yearning and pretty displays of lust and love... but the over all feel is 7 is a generous rating it could probably be a 6 if not for the charming female lead (most of the time), sweet side characters with nice smiles and decent chemistry between the leads.

Easy watch. Just romance, nothing special.

Personally I started this drama because of Lu Yu Xiao. I've liked her since Time and Him Were Just Right and My Journey to You (both of which are amazing) and so I decided to take the leap with this one too. She has done it once again. She never disappoints.

Firstly, its a great modern drama. I'm not mad about it. But I'm just a bit let down because I thought Rongcheng would have a bigger role in the drama. I would say, the drama is very romance heavy but the side plot with the designer/construction company was VERY prominent. And that being said... since this drama was mainly advertised with Rongcheng being the main aspect... umm where did it go?? LOL. Like it was only a few episodes in the beginning to get the main leads interested in each other and um ??? I guess I could interpret it as how Rongcheng was designed to be the ML's place to "escape reality" and since he got with her its not exactly needed anymore but still... I just wish there was more scenes with the games or just something. Felt a bit lacking in this aspect.

The romance plot is very average. Dives into a few themes like love at first sight, workplace romance, cohabitation, and past family connections. There's really nothing new. And everything that happens was pretty predictable.

Two more negative things about the plot to note. The ML's mom is actually the dumbest character in this drama. Time and time again has she pmo and its not even funny anymore. I don't want to go on a whole 'nother tangent but let's just say if your husband gets caught in a scandal and he offs himself... don't get with his business partner. Just don't. Like were you not curious to why he offed himself and just about the scandal in general?? And how is it that when you found out the truth, you just cried... on the couch next to the man who killed your husband... I cannot with this woman. The second aspect is the side plot with the friend's ex husband. It played out so tamely?? IDK what else to say with that. Like I was definitely way more invested in this side story and it was so short lived. Plus, the ending could've dived into the new romance with the ML's best friend.

On the brighter side, both the leads have pretty good chemistry (I think) and the kiss scenes... well let's just say cdramas nowadays have gotten a lot steamier than before! I was (pleasantly??) surprised haha. To preface, I'm not the biggest fan of Chen Xing Xu. Well its not like I dislike him or anything he's just not my type and I see he's conventionally attractive but its just not the look for me LOL. And because of this I'm just very indifferent to seeing him lol. And thus, I wasn't too interested in the romance plot of this drama. Definitely stayed for Lu Yu Xiao tho lol.

Lastly, this drama has the best OST I've heard in a while. Wasn't iffed out by a single song! They were all so good. Would definitely be adding a few of them to my everyday playlist!

p.s. makeup and costumes were insane. Hu Xiu's outfits were always so good. Lu Yu Xiao is so pretty.

"When I chose you, I gave you my back... I'm only afraid that you won't trust me"

I have to say this drama's plot is really good, from the VR experience which was really cool to real life. The first few episodes had me absolutely hooked because i LOVE these types of plots where they know each other but haven't met in real life. Qin Xiaoyi was also enchanting. I was scared to start this drama because I thought it was just gonna be another historical and fantasy drama but was thankfully proven wrong. I ended up starting it for LYX and this one edit I saw. Okay, my ONLY huge plot hole that made me so annoyed that I wanted to quit the whole series was the whole Wang Guangming fiasco. That man wasn't even trying to cheat, the girl pulled him in and gave HIM a kiss, you can tell he was surprised. So if they just talked it out I feel like she would realize he wasn't trying to do anything. Also, remember that he had a startup and he needed Chixin because he needed the partnership, so he wouldn't immediately push her away and never contact her again which was understandable. Especially with 2 years of marriage and all those years of love she moved on quite fast and didn't even listen to him in the first place. I'm sorry this almost made me quit the whole series because I was so annoyed, it would have been fine if they made the man straight up cheat but HE DIDNT EVEN WANT TO, HE WASNT TRYING TO...

Anyways, the music was alright, everything else was good. LYX never fails to amaze me with her performances, the main couple was good. SML was pretty good as well. Everything else was really good! Personally recommending this drama!!!

2026 is off to a STELLAR start.

“Love Between Lines” is one of the best modern Cdramas I’ve seen in a few years. That’s not to say there haven’t been great ones; it’s just this one is another level. It’s a masterpiece.

What makes it stand out?

• The incredible intersection of the game and reality. They did this excellently, without the real world getting boring in comparison. It made every return to the game something special and unique. Their chemistry in the game was phenomenal.

• Masterful story telling. This is Asian drama writing at its best. The pacing is fantastic, the characters are lovable (and logical!), the plot is captivating—it’s just a great story from beginning to end. Even the angsty time apart was done excellently, and our leads fought for each other so beautifully.

• Our leads. Oh my goodness, our leads. Hu Xiu and Xiao Zhiyu are some of the best leads we’ve seen in a while. Our FL is resilient but vulnerable. Watching her grow is a highlight of the show. Our ML is equally amazing. He has so much healing that happens, and loving Hu Xiu is one of the most healing parts of his journey. Plus these two are walking green flags.

• CHEMISTRY CHEMISTRY CHEMISTRY. Where to start? These two are incredible. No shock from these two fantastic actors, but this is another level. Every kiss (and there are tons), every touch, every look, and every moment between them is electric.

Truly a great start to the year.

for singles who want to fall in love (through the screen)

i loved this drama so much that it pushed me to write my very first review. all i can say is that this drama is really about the emotions it makes you feel. so if u're not into romance, this might not be for you. but if you are? this drama honestly feels like it was made for single people like me to experience falling in love lmaoo

i personally think the soul of this drama lies in the beautiful portrayal by lu yuxiao and chen xingxu as Hu Xiu and Xiao Zhiyu/Qin Xiaoyi. their chemistry and emotional delivery feel so natural and sincere that the story stays with you long after it ends. i could genuinely feel myself falling in love with them. if you look at the kiss schedule, you might think, "that's a lot" but honestly, while watching i barely even noticed bc everything feels so natural and effortless (except for major kissing scenes lol).

i also really loved the attention to detail especially in the cinematography and overall vibe. the visuals are beautifully shot, creating a soft, warm atmosphere that perfectly matches the tone of the story. everything feels carefully crafted and genuinely top-tier. the VR game concept was another aspect i enjoyed. it felt refreshing and added something unique to the story. however, it’s not the main focus of the drama and i actually appreciate that. the VR world feels like a place they escape to when reality is overwhelming and as their real lives begin to improve they no longer need it in the same way. as for the overall plot, it's quite simple, nothing grand but not bland either. there were a few moments that made me go "???" but somehow, it all still worked. any flaws were easily covered by the incredible chemistry between the main leads 😂

overall i'd definitely recommend this drama esp to single people like ME who've never been in love. at least we get to experience it through a drama right? hahahahhaha

Entertaining slowburn romance from start to finish

==Breakdown==
Background plot- 35%
Romance - 50%
Misc comedy - 15%

Background plot - Fine
Romantic chemistry - Excellent
Misc comedy - Fun
Production value and direction - Good

The "virtual game" aspect of the plot was the most interesting and engaging part of the story and it's a shame they didn't make the main plot more woven within the virtual world. The main part of the plot followed a very predictable path, one that's extremely common in most modern (or even historical) CDramas.

However, the romantic chemistry and acting (especially between the main leads) carried the drama and took a story that might've been (overall) mid and made it something magical. This is a true slowburn romance with a fantastic payoff. Both the main characters are almost too good to be true, but I didn't mind because the actors did such a stellar job making the characters feel flawed and real and accessible. This is my first time enjoying a drama with Chen Xing Xu as a lead; I've attempted to watch other dramas of his but always dropped them as the story / characters weren't engaging.

But Lu Yu Xiao has recently become a favorite of mine. Or rather, the dramas she stars in have become favorites of mine, and I have to think that's not a coincidence. Either she has a real talent for picking great dramas / roles, or she brings something special to the production that elevates it. Either way, I find her consistently excellent and her dramas extremely watchable.

I highly recommend this drama for fans of romances with fun twists and excellent chemistry / acting.

Where softness, meets storytelling

I genuinely felt good after watching this drama—it was healing in the quietest way. There’s something gentle and soothing about how the story unfolds, like it lets you breathe while watching. The concept of them meeting in a VR world felt so unique to me; it added a dreamy layer to their connection and made their bond feel even more special.

What stayed with me the most is their love for each other—it’s the kind of love I also hope to find in real life: patient, understanding, and steady. Both the FL and ML have their own distinct traits that I truly admire, and together, they balance each other so well. You can really feel why they’re the main leads—their growth, their sincerity, and the way they choose each other made this story quietly unforgettable.

Amazing mature love story with such depth!!!

This drama made me laugh, cry, and be completely in awe of the whole story line.

It starts out into a virtual murder mystery game and this is how our main couple meets. It does not focus on this game it is just the way our main couple gets away from reality for a bit. Where they can act and be someone else for a bit before they have to get back to their real lives. It is a slow burn romance, but I felt that just made them finally getting together even more exciting. It was such a beautiful build up for our main couple. The FL is going through being left by her boyfriend the day of her engagement party through a voice recording. It devastates her and leaves her with not even an answer of why. Our ML you find out is trying to clear his father's name and reclaim his name. Along the way they find each other. The scenes are also so beautiful to watch. If you are a romance lover what are you waiting for. Give this drama a shot!

I absolutely loved Lu Yu Xiao & Chen Xing Xu together it just felt so effortless and at times their love story felt so real. Their chemistry is just beautiful and heartfelt. These two really brought their characters to life and they keep you invested in their story.

Another character I really loved was Hu Xiu's best friend. She was such a strong woman through everything she goes through. Xiao Rou was also the greatest best friend to Hu Xiu. She would defend her at every turn and be there for her no matter what. I couldn't believe her husband, but knew something just wasn't right with him.

The last character I want to mention is Pei Zhen. The guy that played Pei Zhen just played him so well. I don't think of him as a villain though some may not agree. I just pitied the poor guy. You could just tell that he let jealously drive him. He wanted to prove himself so bad, and it just was never good enough. You can tell why the things Hu Xiu did meant so much to him.

I have to also gush about my favorite scene where I just fell in love with the ML here. It was at the FLs ex's wedding. I think this is just one of the best scenes in this drama. She shows up at this wedding by accident for the ML cause he is also her boss. She discovers why her ex called off their engagement so he could do a rushed marriage with another girl he was seeing. She wasn't going to say or do anything and was even going to stay out of sight after doing what she needed to for her boss. The ML lets her know she has done nothing wrong and gets her to hold her head high. The ML is just the best in this scene just everything he does for her. I literally swooned watching every bit of it I loved it so much. It literally needs to be watched to understand why I love it so much. I will say it again if you are a romance lover how have you not watched this yet.

Great beginning of 2026 with this wonderful C Drama

This is a wonderful very creative C Drama. The storyline is very entertaining and enjoyable. The casting is superb with all the talented actors leads and supporting. Chen Xing Xu is one of my favorite actors he is not only extremely handsome and talented but he also has a huge screen presence. He is absolutely perfect for his role as Qin Xiao Yi. I also love the very talented Lu Yu Xiao and her character as Hu Xiu. The FL/ML has wonderful chemistry throughout the show. Finally an intelligent show without the usual whiney, baby talking FL that is so typical in many C Dramas. Thank you casting agents for sparing us. Overall it's a fantastic production that definitely deserves the highest mark. Thank you production team for this wonderful series. A must rewatch!

Absolutely beautiful drama

I had alot of fun watching this drama. For once the female lead and second lead were genuinely strong female characters. They were honest, blunt and mature.
Its very rare that a female lead looks mature even when trying to act cute.
I really enjoyed every single episode. Each character was well written and acted.
The male lead and second lead were also very well casted. Their rivalry bang on. It's been a long time since I have enjoyed a modern day Chinese drama this much. It was the perfect length also. Any more would have been a drag. I highly recommend this drama.
For me the most refreshing thing was how a female lead was portrayed in this drama. No damsel in distress here. Need more such dramas.

How can you rate perfection?

Things I adored

1 The FL. I thought I'd never like anyone more than Bai Lu. Well, it happened. I think Lu Yu Xiao became my favorite actress ever. Beautiful, sweet, funny, talented. I never liked any actress the way I liked her in Love Between Lines. She nailed every second she was in. The way she laughed, the way she cried, the way she teased, the way she kissed, it was a master class of acting. Her character was one of the best I've ever seen as well. Smart, dedicated, great friend, great daughter, the best girlfriend ever. I wish I could explain how much I loved her but it's impossible. I wish her a long and fulfilling career. She made me cry and laugh and swoon and I had some wonderful moments watching her in LBL. Absolute perfection. I think she is the best rom com heroine ever and i doubt anyone surpass her.

2 The whole series. Were they some things I didn't adore? Definitely. But when everything makes your heart flutter or sink and makes you feel alive and so lucky to see this drama everything is perfect. The premise was wonderful, the pace was great, the plot was compelling. Only details bothered me.

3 The chemistry between the leads. So wonderful to watch. Every smile between them, every hug, every word was perfection. I didn't expect that when I started it and I made it last as much as I could, but in the end I gave in and watched the last episodes only to feel sad and empty knowing I can't recapture the joy this drama brought me. When you think that I don't even find the ML that handsome and I've seen other dramas of him I didn't like, you can imagine how good this one is to make me love him as well.

4 The ML. I don't find him that handsome, and I definitely didn't like his clothes this time. But his acting was so subtle, so perfect that now he is on my favorite actors list. He was the perfect boyfriend, he had crazy chemistry with Lu Yu Xiao and it felt like they didn't act. They felt like a real couple.

5 The jealousy scenes. Both nailed them and they were so fun to watch. I would love a compilation of them just to rewatch them again and again.

6 The kisses. They were great. Finally some real kiss scenes that were believable and so rewarding. Perfection again.

7 Their relationship. Once it happened they were there for each other in such a way that you can only fall in love with them and want them to be happy.

8 The relationship of the FL with her parents. It reminded me of my family and I felt for her father, her mother and the FL. I loved how close they were and how they were ready to listen to each other and forgive and support. The way my family is and the way I wish everyone were with their family.

9 The virtual setting. I loved it. So fun and original to see them in the virtual game. Was it perfect? Of course not but I wanted to ha fun. I didn't care about the credibility of this part. It was the best start of a romance ever.

10 I loved the relationship between the FL and her friend. They were there for each other without any judgment and this is another strong appeal of the drama.

Things I loved

1 The people who worked at Dynamic studio. They weren't developed enough but it was a healthy and creative environment which was refreshing and healing to watch after watching so many dramas with awful, toxic work places.

2 The best friend of the ML. He wasn't developed enough ether but he seemed a genuinely good guy and although we didn't see him with the FL's best friend we know that's where it headed and why not? I have some reservations because to be honest I felt like he's not appreciated enough but I loved him and I would like for him to find happiness.

3 The way the FL dressed. There ere a few outfits I didn't love but nothing I truly disliked. Most were very stylish and elegant and suited her. Well, she's gorgeous so it helps, but still. Cute outfits that suited her personality.

Things I disliked

1 The shoes the FL wore. most were ugly and shoes meant for old people. I'm not sure why she wore these.

2 The ML's clothes. I've seen many comment about how well he was dressed but honestly I thought exactly the opposite. The suits weren't flattering and the trousers same thing. They didn't make him look better but worse. None of his clothes were fitting. Let's be real, the 2ML was much more elegant.

3 The way they deal with the best friend and the husband. We didn't have time and enough information to side with her a 100%. I'm in no way in support of any kind of cheating, but I needed him to explain more. I needed her to take some time to think before making such a drastic decision. Nothing was really explained and until the "cheating" we saw some issues but not enough to make me understand her decision. That said, I'm all for her asking for a divorce. At that point, trust was lost and they could never be together and happy. Still, I wish they took the time to make us feel what both went through. After all they married because they loved each other. It should count for a few weeks of grief. Here we had the impression that from evening to morning everything was dealt.

4 The mother of the ML. I can't hate her, she went through a horrible moment and made a wrong decision, but she was a weak woman and I hate weak women in dramas. The actress wasn't great either. More like a robot than a real person.

5 The 2ML. I can't put him in the "hated" list. I can't put an abused child in this list, not even in a drama. Not even when he des some questionable if not despicable things. I wish we could see him happy to be honest and I took his last scene as he will find his purpose and some day he'll be happy. I didn't find him handsome at all so it's not because of that. It's because I think he was abused and lied his whole life and he deserves some happiness.

Things I hated

1 The father of the 2ML. The actor nailed the role, no doubt. I haven't abhorred someone so much since the 2Ml in So I Married an Anti-Fan. I wanted to punch him every time he appeared. Such a horrible horrible person. I wish we could have seen him suffer instead of a few minutes of confrontation. I wish I could see a confrontation with his wife, his son and the ML.

2 The story was too heavy in some aspects. I didn't like the abuse of the 2ML. it was triggering to me and didn't have its place in such a drama. Same for the fire thing. It would be as much compelling without these two things.
