Not a Hater, Just my Views

The actors have great potential, and it truly showed in Episode 7. However, the overall storytelling feels a bit choppy. I believe the director didn’t fully coordinate them to bring out that potential consistently. There’s a lack of continuous flow, and some scenes don’t feel natural or logical, almost as if certain "most-viewed" moments from other dramas were replicated without fitting smoothly into the narrative.

Another issue is the pacing. By the end of each episode, there isn’t that gripping "why are you leaving us hanging?" feeling that keeps you eager for the next one. The romance also feels underdeveloped - just because one character can reverse time doesn’t mean the other will automatically remember and feel the same way. The emotional buildup between the MCs wasn’t given enough space to grow.

Overall, Reverse with Me isn’t a bad series, but it has a lot of gaps that prevent it from fully utilizing the actors' talents. With better direction and a more cohesive storyline, it could have been much more impactful.

Great acting and interesting premise ft. sloppy execution?

Reverse With Me had all the ingredients I usually fall in love with: an interesting time-altering premise, emotionally layered family dynamics, charming and heartwarming moments between the leads, a lovable secondary couple, and strong chemistry across the board. On paper, it seemed like the perfect drama—one that would hit all the emotional beats and deliver something truly memorable.
And to be fair, it does a lot of things right. The chemistry between the leads is genuinely engaging—they carry the emotional weight of the story well, especially in the quieter, more intimate moments. Some of the family scenes were beautifully done, with just the right mix of tension and tenderness. I also appreciated the soft, melancholic tone that ran through the series—it gave the show a distinct emotional flavor that stood out from other recent dramas. The cinematography and music choices were also solid and helped elevate some of the more emotional scenes.
That said, despite these strengths, I walked away feeling pretty disappointed. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why—maybe it was the pacing, or maybe I just went in with expectations that were too high.
The story felt full of plot holes—things that could’ve been clarified or better explained. Some might blame the short length (just 8 episodes), but I don’t think that’s the issue. Reverse 4 You also only had 8 episodes, yet it managed to tell a tighter, more complete story without it feeling rushed or messy.
In the end, Reverse With Me is a show full of potential—it has the right themes, the right cast, and the right emotional undercurrent—but it doesn’t always follow through on what it sets up. It’s not a bad drama by any means, and it has some lovely moments, but it left me wishing for just a little more depth, cohesion, and payoff. Worth a watch if you’re looking for a short, emotional story—but don’t expect everything to come together perfectly.

Where Heart Meets Haste

I read the novel of the same name, which made me really excited for this series, as I really loved the premise and the sci-fi elements (although the logic and physics behind the time travel is notably absent). It is only because I loved the novel so much, and want to give it the due diligence it deserves, that I write my review.

While it makes sense length wise to make some changes there were subtle shifts and unexplained plot emissions that left me scrambling to fill in the gaps. Moments that should have been seamless felt disconnected, like when P’Karan finds Kliao in the bathroom (in the novel, Karan is at the same venue meeting a high school friend, which explains how she saw Kliao) or when Kliao walks up to the hospital roof and sees P’Karan. In the novel, P’Karan’s presence always has clear context but the show leaves these beats unexplained, relying on the audience to make assumptions. It doesn’t detract from the narrative in my opinion, and perhaps I am too much o a pragmatist (can we talk about why Kliao leaves the front door open when she enters her home in episode 6?), but it leaves a sense that the writing stumbled and was unbalanced at times, which I think would’ve been an easy fix if there was simply more episodes to work with. I think we see this throughout the series; the first few episodes of the drama focused so heavily on the storyline of Tree and Meow when they could’ve relegated that to the background and taken the time to instead flesh out more details, such as Kliao’s relationships with her bandmates, or maybe showing a scene longer than 3 seconds with Karan and Fiat, supposed besties, interacting, I do not know. Personally, the unbalanced pacing of the series results in a reliance on the viewer having already read the novel, and while that is true in my case, I think it to be a little irresponsible for the show producers to ask the viewer to fend for themselves, without any added context for a couple of scenes that could’ve afforded to be more thoroughly explained, if they have not yet read the novel.

One specific example of this, is when Kliao’s “Edge of Universe” bandmates surprise her for her birthday and there is no attempt of introduction into the backstory of their relationship to Kilao. Although I admit, there is not much purpose in doing so, it would’ve helped to fully flesh Kliao as a character out more, rather than really only relying on her key relationships with Karan and her family to develop her character.

While I enjoyed the first 6 episodes (my main complaint about them being that not enough time was spent on developing the main relationship between Kliao and Karan), I think the poor pacing of the show manifested especially in episode 7, which should’ve been the crowning jewel of this show. Episode 7 is where everything the prior episodes were building towards is revealed, and where the deep relationship between Maitree and Karan is fully realized. While it started off great, showing us Fiat’s perspective and his motives, it quickly went downhill. I was most excited for the scene where Maitree stops time (and ultimately takes 10 years off of her own life) after saving Kliao from Fiat, which is very emotional once Karan and Kliao come to grapple with the idea that Maitree has sacrificed her own time for them. I thought the show would’ve shown Maitree actually stopping time, taking Fiat’s gun, and moving Kliao from danger. I definitely think it was something that could be possible for production, considering we have all the beautiful scenes with Karan reversing time. This was supposed to be one of the biggest and heart wrenching scenes, and I was disappointed to see that scene in the show was anticlimactic and too short. There was not enough of the drama of Maitree choosing to save Kliao for Karan, nor was there enough time to process all of the emotions that were happening; for all the time concepts the show attempts to grapple with, the producers should’ve spent more time developing the pacing of this scene rather than sacrificing this scene for the secondary plots, like the plot with Kliao and her dad. We, as the viewer, have Karan’s ability to “reverse” time and rewatch scenes, but conversely, we are not given any additional opportunities to experience the gravity of this scene, as the brevity of this scene prevents us from doing so.

While there isn’t much context and sometimes the narrative is a bit confusing at times, I think the scenes do a great job of mirroring the same complexity and confusion, yet familiarity and deja vu that Kliao feels whenever Karan turns back time (I don’t think this was intentional but I’ll give SiamSi the benefit of the doubt).

However, where the pacing of the show occasionally faltered, I thought the acting also did, which in my opinion, erred on the side of being choppy. To me, Kliao, in particular, felt unconvincing in her line delivery when interacting with characters outside of her dynamic with P’Karan (she’s supposed to be close with Meow and her bandmates, but where was that chemistry?). The person whose acting I was most convinced was Kliao’s dad, and even then, it seems he had the easiest role because honestly, acting like an asshole is a hell of a lot easier to do, than act like a dynamic character with complex emotions.

All the negative being said, I think what I enjoyed the most about "Reverse with Me" was its heart. It was refreshing to watch a drama where characters weren’t toxic, mis-communicators who only confesses their feelings while under the influence of alcohol, or make choices for others under the guise of love. The connection between Karan and Kliao felt like such a green flag as well, and a nice refreshing step away from Chao Planoy’s web of toxic, yet entertaining, characters, (which I, alongside may others, seem to have a problem with because of the way they seem to reduce and saturate depictions of wlw relationships as toxic, unhealthy, and overly reliant on intimacy) and more of a turn to an example of a healthier relationship. I think I really appreciated seeing a healthier relationship between women, because no matter how much I enjoyed the massive red flags in the characters of “Affair,” not all relationships between women are unhealthy; and it was nice to be shown a more healthy relationship as representation to the complexity in wlw relationships, although it can be argued that this is more the work of the novel, and less so of the adaptation.

Another thing I enjoyed was SiamSi's ambition and production value. For what seems to be their first production, the scale is impressive. The SFX, CGI, stunts, don’t even get me started on the beautiful OST and background music which matches the emotions of each scene (the way Edge of Universe is an actual band on streaming platforms), even the props, pleasantly surprised me. I also thoroughly enjoyed the cinematography and thought it to be balanced; breathtakingly dreamy and beautiful in romantic scenes yet grounded and more weighted in more dramatic scenes. For me, this is especially important because it helps me really believe the story that is unfolding; it makes it easier for me to see the way Kliao approaches her worldview; her scenes with Karan are dreamy and magical, which of course, reflect her feelings with Karan (which of course reflects with how we see Karan, from Kliao’s perspective), while her scenes with her family are more weighted and formal, reflecting the complex gravity and pain with her family members.

“Reverse with Me" is nowhere near perfect. The show’s acting is mid, pacing is too unbalanced, too slow at times but too fast at pivotal moments, but the show and plot itself is beautiful, ambitious, and heartfelt, something that I think is very compelling. As much as it chronicles Karan and Kliao’s love story, I can’t help but also fall just a little bit in love with the characters themselves, a somewhat parasocial relationship that has formed with me spending so much time getting to know them. For me, watching the imperfections of the drama unfold with the story of Kliao and Karan is simply a reminder that sometimes, it’s a luxury to be faced with the unflinching forwardness of time, be courageous with ourselves and the ones we love, be confident in the way things will pan out (who knows maybe we all have a Maitree), and also take joy in the little moments (because every little moment is specific to the present). For me, the imperfections in the drama are just a reminder of this same message; SiamSi might not be able to reverse time and redo some fundamental aspects of the drama, but that there are still things to enjoy.

So, if you’re a fan of fantasy and romance, or if you’re simply a fan of a fun way to spend time, I think this drama is definitely a journey worth taking. I might not share Karan’s ability to reverse events in my daily life, but I can say that “Reverse with Me” is definitely a series I will be “rewinding” and rewatching.

Something is missing

The series had some good ideas, but I think they were poorly executed. I have no complaints about the acting, which was really good, and the chemistry between Kliao and Karan was there. However, something was missing, which is a shame.

There are too many missing elements, and I feel you have to have read the book to grasp certain nuances. This annoys me, because it means that the writers haven't done their job properly.

needed more episodes.

i personally enjoyed the show. HOWEVER, they focused on all the wrong things. there didn't need to be a dad redemption arc. it was sudden and undeserved and wasted screentime. the straight ship was super cute but made the main relationship feel flat in comparison. we saw meow and tree develop their relationship whereas karan and kliao suddenly were in love after a literal 3 interactions. what?? lmao. the pacing was very weird and bad. it needed more episodes to properly dive into karan and kliao's dynamic. it's sad that it had too little time for that. either way, i still had a good time watching it. but i feel like i have to read the novel now to fully understand what's going on lol

A Book To Live Action Adaption That Failed to Deliver But Still Has A Special Place In My Heart

Reverse With Me was the first ever Thai GL book I read and it was an absolute masterpiece. Not once did it fail to deliver me a great balance and mix of romance, thriller, and fantasy. Which is why in the first place, I was extremely excited about this adaptation—then it was announced that it was only going to have 8 episodes and I immediately knew my favorite Thai GL novel was not going to have a live adaptation that gave it justice.

Production-wise, SiamSi Studios evidently did their best, as can be seen from the visual effects, intro, and ending sequences. It really did encapsulated the magic of the book, but the main issue of this show is the amount of episodes it has. Zezeho's masterpiece with Reverse With Me could not be replicated properly with only 8 episodes. Sure, some would argue that SiamSi was able to somewhat fix the episodes and length issue by making Fiat the sole antagonist and made a great plot twist that logically made sense and actually moved me quite a bit, but it couldn't erase the fact that KaranKliao's amazing love story suffered because of it.

Due to the show only having 8 episodes, we missed out on so much yearning, slow burn, and natural build-up potential which was what made the book extremely good. Scenes were simplified to the max to maximize the story building alongside the relationship building to the point that everything seems to move way too fast to even feel anything for the main leads. And don't get me started to giving the hetero side couple so much screen time, it was definitely super questionable. I tried giving it the benefit of the doubt thinking it was going to be part of Fiat's masterplan of some sort, but nada. Absolutely nothing. So much wasted screen time that could have been allocated for something else. Not to mention, we barely got to see Kliao's friend group that had so much significance to Kliao's life in the book.

Despite all of these issues, I still can't help but be biased and say that because of how good the book is, the show, in my eyes will carry with it the feels the book made me feel which just goes to show that bad writing will always produce bad shows but good writing makes way for a great show.

Reverse With Me – Stylish, Twisty, and Sweetly Sapphic

⚠️ GL Grading Disclaimer
Before we dive in, a quick note on how I grade GL series: My primary focus is on the love story, chemistry, and plot. I grade on a curve, meaning my ratings are “for a GL,” recognizing the specific landscape and production context of girls’ love media.

If I ever rate something a 10, it’s because it absolutely delivers in one (or more) of these areas: undeniable chemistry between leads, high enjoyability, or a unique and/or excellently executed storyline that stands out in the genre.

Before watching Reverse With Me, I’d strongly recommend watching Reverse 4 You—it’s a standout in its own right, with a unique concept and solid emotional storytelling. Reverse With Me feels like a spiritual successor or companion piece: a modernized continuation of that universe’s themes, but with its own tone and aesthetic. Where Reverse 4 You leaned into emotional character journeys with a sci-fi twist, Reverse With Me builds on that foundation with more stylistic flair and a darker, moodier edge.

Together, they make a strong case for this shared “Reverse” universe being one of the more interesting and creative contributions to the GL genre.

Production & Style
From the opening scene, Reverse With Me sets a confident tone. The production value is strong, the editing is crisp, and the special effects are well-executed. There’s a clear creative vision here, and it makes the show feel fresh without being flashy for the sake of it.

The music is another standout. The OST is simply excellent—probably one of my favorite songs from a GL so far. (Honorary mention to More than Words, Us Ost. ) It’s memorable, emotional, and supports the tone of the story without overwhelming it. Just great sound design overall.

Story & Tone
This show has a dark and grounded edge, even with its supernatural element. It doesn't lean into fantasy for escapism—instead, it uses the concept to explore personal trauma, emotional growth, and choice. That emotional realism gives the series weight, making it more than just a high-concept premise.

The plot itself is solid and consistently engaging. The twists are effective, and the story follows through on its emotional stakes. The only moments that felt a little off were the sudden intervention from the sister—which came off a bit too convenient—and the final wrap-up episode, which didn’t quite match the tone or momentum of the rest of the show.

Characters
The characters are developed enough to keep the story moving, but they do lean on the one-dimensional side. There’s not a ton of emotional depth or complexity in how they’re written, but they’re still easy to care about—especially in the high-stakes moments. The show does a good job of making you root for them, even if their arcs aren’t especially layered.

Chemistry
The romance builds slowly and naturally. The chemistry isn’t fiery, but it’s sweet and believable. The leads have a quiet tenderness that works really well with the more serious tone of the show. There’s also a bit of that ice queen dynamic early on, which adds a nice tension that slowly melts away.

Chemistry rating: Warm and Cute
(Scale: Hot AF, Steamy, Warm and Cute — Reverse With Me sits comfortably in the “sweet and sincere” range. It’s not explosive, but it feels real.)

Final Thoughts
Reverse With Me is a refreshing entry in the GL genre—thoughtful, a little dark, and creatively executed. It brings something different to the table, while still delivering a romance that feels honest and emotionally earned.

it's C tier

I finally finished reverse with me and it took AGES , why ? because I've rated it C tier which is just mid, yes that's right same tier as "Room in rome" or that one movie which I forgot the name of, that feels like a Christmas romance but without the Christmas part , it was really hard for me to stick to it so it made the time between watching episodes was sparce , for a long time I wanted to give it B- because it was trying something with the time powers and the decent camera work this supernatural element is what made me pick it up , but then on last ep they really forced the het B plot in it and that just put the last nail in the coffin I just don't need it my GL , you see the biggest cons of this series is mainly the overall feel of just "run of the mill drama'" but just flavoured with supernatural and slight violence instead of being transformative with it and secondly the plot is mediocre at best it seemed cool at first but it didn't last, let's have a short sum up just to realise that : the MC , Kliao and her LI karan meet after Kliao is having a shit life because of a car accident then her LI rewinds time to cancel that because she has seen visions of being with her (which is a weak justification for a ship in my books) because time god powers , then a few episodes of beating around the bush because karan is feining she doesn't know her then the guy that wanted to kill her in the car accident shows up because the dad of Kliao hurted his feelings once about his family dying in a car crash so he wanted to do the same to him (which is a dumb reason and really took off my immersion from the show at the time) , he gets shot and dies , and a second guy shows up and wants to kill/blackmail karan because his parents died in a car crash (again like first guy) because of karan's rewinding time drawbacks that we never heard about it before and is just convignantly placed here in the plot (which is an asspull and really took off my immersion from the show at the time) , her sister with time powers too just shows up and takes his gun and doesn't shoot him (sad) , he just decides he won't and goes "oh ok then , I guess I just accept how it is" , he took someone hostage but the police literally goes "ig it's fine" (I wish I was kidding) , then his brother kills himself with a bleach overdose then he doesn't , then woooo everyone is happy, kiss and goodbye, the end.
if your last episode needs to be viewed in 1.5x speed then it's not a good look for your show, it's not bad bad per se, it's mid , it's C tier

Sorely Disappointing Could Have Been Better!

Sometimes miracles can cost you your life. But are you willing to take such a risk for your better half?

This question pretty much sums up the entire premise for this show. Adapted from the novel “Reverse with me: Across Millions of Orbits” (Reverse With Me ล้านวงโคจร) by Zezeho, the storyline deals with quite a few parallels. The editing is choppy in some places and because of the uneven pacing, the storytelling seems confusing. Born into a family where the descendants have magical powers, “Reverse with Me” focuses on Karan who can manipulate time like her mother and also has the power of visions. You are never given the explanation for Karan’s supersonic powers, they just exist; the only catch being that like her grandfather, Karan loses a portion of her lifetime whenever she manipulates time. Moreover, every time she turns time, Karan experiences excruciating pain; neither fact stop her from manipulating time and again to save her longtime crush, Kliaokhluen. The back and forth becomes confusing after the second time when it becomes evident that Karan is losing her lifetime, and yet she doesn’t stop.

Had Potential But…

I LOVED Reverse 4 you. I thought it was deeply underrated and didn’t get all the love and fame it deserved. So when I heard of Reverse with me- I was super excited and ‘saving it’ for a proper watch. The first episode was great! I loved the acting, the opening credits scene etc. From second onwards- it got slower. I hated that they were just giving so much screen time to side characters and repeating the storyline of the main characters unnecessarily. I still have hope and will continue to watch- but I already know it could’ve been so much better.
