A chaotic, emotional, and breathless ride through time
Extremely chaotic, stunning, and emotionally draining masterpiece that succeeds in blending comedy with gut-wrenching angst.
The concept behind this story is simply brilliant. The main heroine, Shen Jicai, along with her family, goes through time travel and finds herself in Yong’an.
It is an absolutely amazing show that skillfully combines large-scale politics and small-scale character interactions. The show is superbly made, there’s great chemistry, and the pacing is really great, smoothly changing from funny to literally life-threatening situations.
WHAT I LOVED❤️
The main couple’s chemistry: the couple in the show, Jicai and Lin Yan, have an outstanding chemistry. The romantic tension between them is perfect.
The actress (Wang Yin Lu) playing Jicai is simply an amazing actress. I mean, I loved her acting in “Twelve Letters,” and I’m not at all surprised but, dang, she impresses me every single time.
Iconic side characters: Princess Fuhui aggressively chasing Pei Fei was absolutely hilarious (even though it ended up not being so in the end). There’s my man, Liu Chang, as well. Lol. Loved him.
With that being said, I’ll have to add that the physical comedy in this drama is phenomenal!
Found Family: It is just so touching how the Shens take in the abused slave Deyuan and the secret spy Yu San with such genuine, wholesome intentions. As well as Lin Yan.
Character Redemption Arc of Gongcai: Even though he is a complete fool, it was endearing how dedicated he was to proving himself worthy to little Yangyang.
The Soundtrack
WHAT I DIDN’T 😤
The utterly brain-dead idiotic behaviour of the Shen men: I’m sorry, but Shen Jianshe and Shen Gongcai were driving me up the wall. They are, without a doubt, the two characters with the lowest IQs on the whole script. Arrrghhh! Their total inability to know when to shut up, and their mind-bogglingly dumb decisions had me literally facepalming. Not even Fengxia was an exception in this case. Jicai deserves all the credit for handling the insanity of the entire household.
That one ungrateful quick-to-judge moment with the Shens: When Lin Yan sealed the restaurant to show fairness during the poisoning setup, the whole family quickly judged him and acted entitled. Now, the man took you into his home, fed you, and because of that single thing, he was evil in your eyes? (Oh, well somebody else did that for years and was evil in the end.)
Fengxia’s exhausting bickering: Fengxia constantly putting down and picking fights with Jianshe seemed toxic and unnecessary to me.
The “not getting wet in the rain” trope: I had to add this. It was just one scene but I genuinely hate it when this happens. When someone is standing in the middle of a torrential downpour but somehow magically isn’t getting wet.
Prince Zhao and Lin Yan. Enough Said.
Anyway, despite the fierce irritation the male family members will cause you, this is truly an amazing drama. It handles dark political themes with incredible gravity, yet effortlessly bounces back to cosy, heartwarming moments.

HILARIOUS
If you want to laugh hella tons, watch it. I laughed so hard in the first few episodes bc it was so funny, especially since I'm chinese and can understand some of what they are saying. The FL acting was great, sometimes if the acting is weird I find it hard to wartch, ML acting was ok but theres just some actors that are hard to watch. This ML actor was decent but could be better. I love the food concept as I am a foodie and I love the family dynamic. The storyline was okay and the slow burn was there. Watch if you wanna laugh! Was this review helpful to you?

Cozy family shenanigans w/ a slow burn romance & bittersweet end
Long time watchers of time travelling romance comedies, you know how this goes. It's fun watching our characters adjust, fall in love, build wealth and prosperity, overcome obstacles, but in the end, the story must address: Will the modern character(s) end up staying or end up going back to their own time?If you are a lover of romantic comedies with many silly yet earnest moments, and a tinge of sadness toward the ending, you'll enjoy this one. I laughed out loud so many times. This drama brought me out of a slump. One of my favorite dramas of 2025.
--
This is the first time I've watched a drama where the female lead isn't the only one who "traveled" to the past--her whole family comes with her!
So, of course, there are hilarious family shenanigans as they adjust to their new lives. I love the female lead's cleverness and logical personality. I love how distinct her family members are: the simple yet occasionally accidentally wise brother, the stern but loving mother, the overconfident and silly father, and the cutest and free-spirited niece. Although family dynamics can get a little tiring at times--especially when it comes to the brother and father doing dumb things--the actors really make the characters so believable and so sympathetic. The father figure, especially, infuriates me the most at multiple points, but when he shows his regretful face and actions, I pity him and also cry with him. In general, almost every supporting character feels real. They don't feel like a stereotype. For a comedy, the characters' personalities feel logical.
The male lead is wonderfully played by Li Yunrui. After his hit drama "Blossom" (2024), you can see that there's traces of that character here too. The male lead type who is logical, competent, righteous. When he begins to fall in love with the female lead first, he has these yearning, innocent expressions that make him super adorable in his pining for the female lead.
His romance with the female lead is truly a slow burn. Even if they have feelings for each other halfway through, there is no Big Confession Scene. Their relationship is built on trust and respect and admiration and, gradually, they come to recognize the unsaid feelings in their hearts. Their chemistry and support for each other really just carries this entire drama. Props to Li Yunrui and Wang Yinglu.
The serious main plot of the drama is paced decently through the whole drama. We know who the villain is by like episode 10, but it's just about how the male lead will get enough evidence/witnesses to get him. I personally was OK with this rather than having escalating dramatic plots with multiple villains. This drama is NOT those kind of full, serious court drama stories.
Now, the ending: There is a pessimistic view and then there's the optimistic view. If you consider any separation of the characters a tragedy and a terrible ending? Then this is not for you. But if you're an optimistic who recognizes that it's sad, but not sad forever? Then you might be fine with the ending.
Overall: You'll have a good time if you enjoy romcoms and slow burn. You might be a little disappointed that some supporting characters don't really get any more development or storylines about mid-way through. (I loved the character of A'Yuan and she doesn't get much focus after her main story is done.)

Mid Asfffff
This show is a time travel food porn comedy that is very bland. The positives are that the acting is pretty good, the food (when it is focused on) looks delicious and makes me so envious of the characters enjoying it. The main characters are all memorable and fun to watch. There's also a fair amount of social commentary being done here, it is a little hamfisted, but I can't help but appreciate it regardless.
Li Yun Rui has caught my attention since LLTG… and he's rising as one of my favorites. This is my second time watching Wang Ying Lu in a drama and she's pretty entertaining here too. I did prefer her role in When Destiny Brings the Demon more, but this is still pretty solid. These two are great on their own, but I don't think they make the most compelling couple.
So the negatives.
Despite the show shaking up the trope by having an entire family time travel together, our FL STILL ends up solving most of the problems, comes up with almost all the ideas, and is also a sage who guides her family through trials and tribulations while being wise beyond her years.
There's too much of a plot.
I signed up for a food showcase where I get to see 2-3 new delicious things every episode… Instead we're investigating a treason case, dealing with corruption, rebellion? and the romances of side characters??? I just wanted to see some food NOT crappie overdone and PREDICTABLE plotlines from every other costume drama.
The budget???
I think that this show looks really… basic? The hair, the clothing, the sets. Nothing really ever blows me away. There's wire work in really unnecessary places while characters will pull up to a fight, beat someone OFFSCREEN and we cut to them rolling on the ground. That fight was never filmed, there was never an intention to film the fight.🤣 There's a bit more action towards the end, but I couldn't help be feel that it would have been better for this show to have skipped trying to do all this extra stuff.
I feel that this show wastes so much time. There was no reason for this to have been stretched out over 32 episodes.
SPOILERS!!!
Our main villain is responsible for the death of the ML's entire clan; he spends the entire drama being dumb and continuing to trust the ML even when he's clearly suspicious. When the villain gets got with a sword kicked (from the ground, lol physics) through his chest he starts crying and has a flashback of all the sweet moments he had with the boy whose life he ruined. Do you really expect me to feel sorry for him??? Apparently the ML does cuz he cries too. lol okay. Another example of the show wasting my time.
Don't get me started on the 2nd and final villian, it pissed me off so bad, you could see him coming from a million miles away.
Would be in**st for apx 90% of this show.
When this drama begins, we are told that our FL and ML are distant relatives. They're 1000 years removed from each other but her family wouldn't have existed if the ML didn't get it on with his future wife.
I know that the drama later tells us that they're not actually related (everyone knew that, it wouldn't work if they were 🙄) but it doesn't erase the several episodes that our FL struggles with her guilt for her desire for her greeaaaat granddaddy. I'm never getting that time back. Though the revelation of them not being related is now conveniently given (through head trauma) the ick remains. Hearing characters be like “OMG its not in**st, you can be together!” was NOT on my C-drama bingo card this year.
Also its so funny that our main characters make such a big deal out of FL having feelings for a man she would basically share no DNA with, when they married cousins several generations in a row back then.
The ending pissed me off too. It has the typical ending that these types always do, but it grated my nerves more for some reason.
The ML wastes OVER TEN MINUTES of my time in the FINAL EPISODE drawing pictures and having flashbacks of the Main characters after their existence is erased from the past.
FL wakes up in the future and none of their family members remember being in the past with her, but they get to keep all of the character development they achieved without remembering how exactly they struggled to attain it… BS!
Yea whatever.
P.S. I actually liked that 2nd ML more.

Don't Judge a Drama by Its Synopsis!
After being transported back in time to Yong'an City, the Shen family met their (supposed) ancestor Lin Yan, a royal official. Following their failed attempts at returning to the present, the Shen family decided to settle in the city where they go on a journey filled with culinary delights, business, familial bond, and an unconventional love story.Upon reading the synopsis and watching the trailers, I have to admit that I was skeptical about the whole romance plot with your ancestor. I eventually gave it a try and ended up getting hooked. The whole concept of a family of three generations that gets transported back in time was definitely fresh and interesting enough for me to give this drama a chance. The story started out great with elements of comedy that stood out when the Shen family were just transported back to the past. It was funny to see how the Shen family would treat their then young ancestor with respect and fear of retribution when they go against him. The sound effects also helped in supporting the comedic mood to the story. The story even got more interesting when the present-day three generation Shen family started settling down and building a business in the old Yong'an City. Unfortunately, what started out great ended up going downhill towards the end.
After the plot twist towards the end, the story started to get heavy and hard to digest. The ending was slow yet rushed, clear but questionable, and definitely bittersweet. The ending definitely raised some questions unanswered. Not to mention, the scene of nearly meeting them in the present time, as expected from time travel costume dramas. How I wish for a better ending to this warm family costume romance drama.
Despite the sloppy ending, the drama really did well in casting Li Yun Rui and Wang Ying Lu for the roles of Lin Yan and Shen Shao Guang, respectively. Li Yun Rui exudes the charisma, intelligence, power, and maturity befitting for the role of Lin Yan. He was great with his expressions and he was able to portray Lin Yan as a dependable young man (or ancestor) for the Shen family. Wang Ying Lu also delivered with her performance as Shen Shao Guang, a young, modern, and smart lady. She was able to clearly show Shen Shao Guang's conflict after starting to develop feelings for Lin Yan. In addition to the two main characters, the actors who acted as the Shen family also left a lasting impact, enough to say that they stole my attention. Even the kid actor was such a scene stealer!
Do I recommend this drama? Only if you stop just before the ending. Yummy Yummy Yummy is a drama that lures you with warmth and wit yet ends with an unnecessary sad and draggy approach.

Triple Y was a triple delight.
This will be a short review because I mainly want to remember that I watched this series—and the points that stood out to me.
The show hooked me right from the start. I love time-travel-to-the-past tropes, and seeing the entire family travel together was such a fun twist. That alone was enough to keep me excited. MDL already summarizes the plot well, so I won’t repeat too much, but the basic setup is: the FL and her family end up in the past and, in order to survive, they trick the newly arrived vice magistrate into letting them stay with him by claiming he has a childhood arranged marriage with the FL. Chaos ensues.
As I’ve told others, this drama does exactly what it’s supposed to do—it entertains. If you’re looking for something funny, romantic, and supported by a great ensemble cast, you’ll enjoy Yummy Yummy Yummy.
The only part I didn’t care for was the ML’s ongoing investigation into his family’s downfall. We know from the beginning what he’s trying to uncover, and I honestly skipped most of those scenes. Instead, I focused on the main couple’s romance and the relationships built between the side characters and the FL’s family. That dynamic was the biggest highlight for me, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
Surprisingly, I also loved the ending. Using the “dream” she had, the FL decides to revive her family’s struggling restaurant business—a cute and fitting conclusion.
Overall, I’m giving this a 7.5/10 for the fun story direction, the slow-burn romance, and a cast I genuinely adored.

Charming, sweet and funny!
I always love watching time travel dramas. At first when I saw that the whole family time travelled, I got really excited. They are so chaotic and funny at the same time 😂 their personalities are what makes them close.Lin Yan and Shen Shao Guang had great chemistry and I love that there was no love triangles and not too much hate as the main focus was Lin Yan/Cui Che clearing his father's name.
You will definitely laugh while watching this and how they "invented" things/recipes/lifestyle from modern to past.
The wedding scene was hilarious because the MC didn't understand what he was reading.
Fast forward to the ending, I get that Shao Guang fell and hit her head and was dreaming but I really thought her family also would have had the same dream since they all didnt time traveled then. What was really puzzling was the paintings of Lin Yan and Shen Shao Guang because if she disappeared, and no-one remembered her or the family, and he was left alone all those years and didn't marry, how comes the painting still exist?
I wish they gave us more in the modern world ending part though instead of just having them standing and tearing up.

A Drama That Feels Like Home-Cooked Comfort Food
Yummy, Yummy?Yummy! honestly felt like comfort food in drama form for me.I originally expected a light food drama, but what surprised me most was how much the food itself became part of the emotional storytelling. This is one of those dramas where meals are not just there to look pretty (although everything looks delicious and will absolutely make you hungry). Food becomes comfort, care, stress, connection, and sometimes even communication between the characters.
Some of my favourite moments were the quieter scenes in the kitchen — cooking after difficult days, sharing meals, the exhaustion and chaos during busy moments, and the way relationships slowly develop through food and small acts of care rather than big dramatic gestures. There were scenes where tension softened simply because someone cooked for another person, and I really loved that.
The father and especially the son can be quite silly and over-the-top at times, particularly in the beginning, which took me a little while to adjust to. Some of the humour felt a bit exaggerated early on, but as the drama progressed, it started to feel part of the charm and warmth of the overall atmosphere, and I honestly got quite attached to them.
The romance is also very slow burn. Do not expect intense romance early on, because the drama takes its time developing the relationships naturally. Personally, I think that worked well for this type of story, as it fit the softer and more comforting tone of the drama.
The atmosphere is probably what worked best for me overall. It feels warm, cozy, and surprisingly immersive. By the later episodes, I genuinely looked forward to seeing what they would cook next and enjoyed spending time with the characters. The found-family feeling and emotional warmth made it very easy to become attached.
The pacing is occasionally a little slow, and not every storyline felt equally strong, but for me that did not matter much because the overall feeling of the drama worked so well. It felt relaxing, comforting, and somehow made me both hungry and emotionally invested at the same time.
If you enjoy food-centred dramas with warmth, comfort, and relationships that develop naturally, this one is definitely worth watching.

The story is like a butterfly effect added with 'destiny'
One family travel back in time, meet their somebody they acknowledge as their ancestor then later on realized it's the other ancestor. The family helped the male lead with his revenge and they succeed. Later on the leads realized their romance is not forbidden, they marry but their marriage is not long lasting. Since the female lead whole family went back to the modern times. Coincidentally only the leads remember or regain their memories back when the female lead family travel time.—The plot unfolded really well, I like how the female lead feels after she realizes that their 'love' is forbidden, totally understandable why she push the male lead away.
Characters have a good development later on. Thumbs up also to the emperor for not being bias. The fellow censorate for being cautious. The female lead may not be strong and genius, she did her part being brave.
I like the crying scenes, the actors perform great.
I must say, the ending is rushed

A Light Slice-of-Life Time Travel Watch: Food, Business, and Romance
I enjoyed this, but I don’t think it’s for everyone. The storyline is fairly light, and much of the drama feels more like a slice-of-life experience focused on daily living. There is a minor conspiracy arc, but it lacks depth, so the emphasis stays on the time-travel element and the central family. As far as my experience goes, the romance didn’t land for me, and I’m not someone who typically enjoys family-oriented dramas. So, I mostly watched this for the food, the art direction around menu planning, and the entrepreneurship. I also thought the comedic moments were well done and fit the overall tone. For me, I got what I wanted from this watch and for that, it was enjoyable.

A Nice Lighthearted Drama That Lost It's Way From The Middle
This drama at the beginning felt nice, funny, and quite entertaining to watch. The casting was great. Wang Yinglu surprised me by doing four totally different characters in a year. The initial 20 or so episodes were really nice. The cinematography was nice as well. The music is good. The comic timing was great as well. But from the middle, I felt the story dragged a lot. The most horrible twist was probably the last episode, and I absolutely hated how the writers treated the ML. The main revelation was delayed a lot, and later the story ended abruptly. I felt there was not enough interaction between the 2 leads. It could have been a very nice drama, but instead turned out to be average due to the sloppy 2nd half. Nevertheless, it was a decent one-time watch. Was this review helpful to you?
A bit undercooked but still pretty yummy
I really wanted to love this but it felt half baked. The idea of a whole family transmigrating is fun and fresh but evolution of their relationships could have used more exploration and growth. The revenge plot was interesting initially but never could really captivate me fully with it's lack of scheming and tension. The romance and chemistry were there and I was so invested but they needed more screen time to really sell the budding relationship.I'm rating this higher than I normally would because I am biased and love Wang Yinglu.
