Dissappointiing after a strong start
I recently watched My Dearest Thief, and I absolutely loved it—a solid 10 out of 10. That drama reminded me why I fell in love with K-dramas in the first place. So when I saw that Moon River had a similar storyline, I was genuinely excited. The first episode was promising. But it quickly turned into something average. I didn't like the humour in this drama—it felt out of place. The characters started acting quite childish, and it didn't match the tone the drama was going for. I usually love historical dramas, but this one just isn't for me.
Now I'm at episode 3, and I'm struggling to focus. I keep finding myself reaching for my phone or doing other things instead of watching. The cinematography is beautiful, I'll admit, and the OST is absolutely amazing—that's the only positive thing I can say.
But overall, I just don't like this drama. I think I'll be dropping it.

DEFINITELY BEST HISTORICAL K-DRAMA OF 2025
idk why soo many negative review for this dramaToT. It's been a long time since a historical k-drama has been this good. Anyone who loves historical drama definitely 10/10 recommended to watch. The plot was soo good and made me cry in some scenes. Not for the main lead but actually for the villain :( I know sounds lame but he wasn't a bad person tbhAnd the people telling the body swap was uneccesary..like guys it was actually important in the overall story if you look into the details. so if anyone having a doubt weather to watch this drama or not just go for it without a doubt.
I don't really write reviews and this is the first time. I had to write this review coz of all the bad reviews.. I mean come on guys it was actually really good compared to all the other overhyped dramas..

Absolutely Stunned!!
I had low expectations because of the reviews which said this one was bad during its airing so i kept it in my watchlist and the low review also made me hesitate but I gave it a try because I like both main leads previous works. And I couldn't say more so I was stunned. The Acting was phenomenal as you could see when the soul actually changed even without the accent. The comedy was very enjoyable which became a rarity in most of the dramas these days. The Ost was so likable to the point I saved it in my playlist of spotify ( I don't usually pay attention to drama ost with the few expections of this drama, Goblin, Love scout and descendents of Sun ). All the Actors did a wonderful job on showing their acting even the second fl as contrary to many reviews I liked her acting ( she could do more if she practiced more expressiveness but still better than her previous work so I was okay with her ).
The 14 episodes was the cream on the top, anything more would've felt boring and anything less wouldve felt short. The Dead King was piece of shit and the villain was more piece of a shit - didn't feel a single shread of pity for him. The Current King, the Ml father showed a terrific show of helplessness which I really liked it. As always the Sejong and Tae oh acting was good, and the chemistry was so good to the point I loved their banter in the second half.
So if you want to watch this drama, Give it a try don't worry about the reviews - still don't understand why this one is less than 8. So give it a Try.

Moon River (2025) – The Same Joseon Drama Again
With an “impressive” start —at least that’s what k-drama lovers will say for likes— Moon River tries to shine in 2025 but ends up recycling everything we’ve already seen a hundred times.Twenty minutes in, and the only word you hear is “choooona.”
This is a drama directed at people whose sense of humor is as shallow as a 4-year-old’s.
Kim Se-jeong deserves better than another romantic comedy template, but when good roles don’t come, you take what you can get. Brewing Love was already proof of that.
Kang Tae-oh, as usual, looks good and acts little —a pure K-drama model.
Even the supporting cast feels recycled: the same ministers, servants, and conspirators from every Joseon-era drama.
Moon River is 100 % popcorn, 0 % originality, and 0 % entertainment.
Pretty faces trapped in the same old palace.

The whole plot point is riddiculous
This show should've ended in 10 episodes. It's just repeating itself. And I reject to keep watching it. How come the king is this garbage. How come no one comes and kills the left state councillor? How come he gets his way everytime? It just doesn't makes sense. Just poison him or kill him. Several people had the opportunity many times. Kill him and the whole thing finşishes come on. Just stab a sword to him and deal with the consequences later. It's just nonsense to keep this plot.Loved the ML he played so well. their chemistry with the FL is great. Though I'm tired of hearing her dialect. even though they're great to watch, it's just unbearable to keep watching this plot anymore.

Not sure why
I couldn't finish this show, I really struggled to keep my mind on it, the first four episodes weren't too bad. Kinda disappointed in myself for not being to stick through it for Kim Sejeong's sake since I REALLY enjoyed her performance in Brewing Love.I said that if this drama wowed me then I'd finally give Extraordinary Attorney Woo a try and move it to the top of my watchlist. Guess that won't be happening. 😔 How awful.
5/10 cuz I'm pretty neutral.
It looked good, had an interesting premise, good acting and pretty solid music. All the components put together just didn't do it for me.

Must-Watch Gem
Moon River” kicks off with a charming blend of romance, fantasy and period-drama elements: the soul-swap premise between a crown prince and a merchant sets up fresh narrative possibilities.he chemistry between the leads, Kang Tae‑oh and Kim Se‑jeong, is widely praised and the early episodes manage to balance humour and emotional underpinning quite well.
On the flip side: some reviewers feel the pacing is a bit slow in setting up the core body-swap premise and court intrigue—and that the tone sometimes veers into broad pantomime.
But overall: if you’re drawn to romantic-fantasy sageuk (period dramas) with a comedic edge, this show is looking promising and well worth dipping into while it’s still airing.

Second couple story is so good.
I love the second couple on this drama. That's what im just gonna say since its been a while since i've watched this and cant really remember much but I remember the second couple being the best on this, 8/10 imo.I think the drama is great overall but I don't think its the best there is, also as much as I loved Kim Sejeong, I dont think she was the right fit here, she fits the fmc that has amnesia but for the Queen, not so much since the Queen is kinda the opposite of fmc's character.

Sweetest ending ever
If you like comedy, fantasy, romance with a touch of drama, this series is for you. It has the perfect balance. Don't pay attention to what others think, give it a chance. The chemistry between the main characters is incredible, both act superbly, and the two actors have that sweet and tender personality that allows them to act in both comedy and drama, and it suits them perfectly. The ending is one of the sweetest I've ever seen.
It's quite frustrating to see the villain get away with it, but it's very satisfying to see how they resolve the conflicts.
Don't get me wrong, it has a few slow moments, but despite that, it's totally worth watching.
The protagonist is not the typical damsel in distress who needs help; she is a strong, empowered woman who solves problems, and her character undergoes significant growth.
There is something for everyone and diverse opinions, so don't miss it just because of the comments. I'll just say that it got to the top of my 10 favorite historical series.
