More than any other drama I’ve watched probably ever, I fully believe in the life the leads can have after the show is over. So many times the entire relationship between leads is built in the tiny moments in between big drama in their lives and big dramatic gestures made in the face of danger, that it makes me wonder if they be together after the big bad is defeated. Can they live the quiet life, can they be happy together when their lives are not in danger?
In Moon River the answer is undoubtedly yes. The entire series is them trying to get back to the quiet calm of their everyday lives and them showing just how much they are willing to do to get that.
Will forever be grateful how the drama establishes that self sacrifice is selfish because loved ones left behind will suffer.
Also But a Dream by Song Sohee is such beautiful song, I've been listening to it non-stop.
Also also the Left State Councilor could definitely be an interesting lead in his own drama.

SPEECHLESS
Speechless... that’s truly the only word that comes close to describing how I feel right now. This drama was nothing short of magical. It captured every single aspect that made me fall in love with K-dramas in the first place: strong storytelling, emotional depth, perfect pacing, and just the right balance of humor and romance. I went in with zero expectations, and yet it completely shattered them, hooking me from the very first episode. The first four episodes alone almost had me in tears... not because they were sad, but because of how absorbed I was. I was so invested so quickly that I actually found myself thinking, “Most of the major events already happened… what’s left now?” I won’t lie... I got a little worried that it might fall into the usual K-drama trap and become predictable or drag on. But thankfully, that fear turned out to be completely unfounded.
One of my favorite elements was the comedic aspect. The humor felt natural and perfectly timed, never forced or distracting, and it balanced the heavier moments beautifully. I was also a bit nervous about the soul-swapping arc... those can be very hit or miss, but it ended up being an absolute delight. Not only was it well-executed, but it also added depth to the characters and strengthened the emotional impact of the story. I genuinely ended up loving it far more than I expected.
There were a few moments where I thought, “Is this going to turn bland?”... and I won’t pretend those doubts didn’t cross my mind. But even during its slower moments, the drama remained engaging. The so-called “bland” parts were completely bearable and still meaningful, never enough to pull me out of the story.
The final stretch of episodes was an absolute blast. The tension, the emotions, the pacing... it all came together perfectly and had me on edge the entire time. And that last episode? Pure perfection. It wrapped everything up so beautifully that I found myself crying both happy and sad tears... and that says a lot, because I’m not someone who cries easily.
Once again, this drama proved why I should really stop trusting negative reviews from certain websites. And on a personal note, I usually prefer Chinese historical dramas over Korean historical ones, IYKYK, which might be exactly why I was so stunned by how much of a delight this historical K-drama turned out to be.
Do yourself a favor and watch this drama. It’s one of those rare experiences that reminds you why you love watching dramas in the first place.

The chemistry between Kang Tae-oh and Kim Se-jeong is natural and deeply moving, giving the love story a tender, heartfelt quality. Jin Goo’s performance deserves special praise—subtle, powerful, and absolutely impeccable. Supported by a solid cast, Moon River delivers a romance filled with quiet emotions, unforgettable moments, and a timeless sense of longing. A must-watch for lovers of historical romance. 🌙💙

“I Planned to Watch 2 Episodes… I Finished Moon River in 2 Days” ?
At first, I didn’t want to watch Moon River because it’s a historical drama—it wasn’t really my preference. But when I found out that it won Best Actress and Best Actor, I started questioning why I hadn’t watched it sooner.I decided to give it a try and planned to watch just two episodes, but I ended up finishing the entire series in just two days.
Every episode has funny moments that balance the story, and when drama is needed, it helps you understand the plot and the characters more deeply. The emotional scenes feel natural and not forced. The first episode really requires your full attention—once you understand it, you’ll definitely love the episodes that follow.
The only reason it’s not a perfect 10 is because there’s a lot of drama involving soul swapping, which may feel overwhelming at times. That’s why the remaining 0.5 was deducted.
Overall, Moon River is an excellent drama that deserves a 9.5/10, and it’s highly recommended—even for those who usually avoid historical dramas. 🌙✨

The ending that I liked!
Can't stop smiling when I finished it. It's just so satisfying! The couple was a top-notch! And I'm so grateful that the second couple wasn't ruined! thank G!
The FL was so 1000/10! With her acting and the switching was the best! I tot she was familiar, turns out, she's one of the lead at Uncanny Counters🔥. I really like her. Her baddas attitude and everything, ghad, I never tot I'm going to love her like this!
The ML has a quite good job too! When they are switching, distinguishing her and him was quite impressive. And I kinda like his character development. From being miserable to someone who got guts. Like it!
What I like about this series is no love triangle or second character (ghad, that's rare and love it!). I love the brotherhood that came up with this and having his own love too. The second couple here was the best also! They deserve that ending!
Lezzgo with the villain. At first, kinda meh because I'm not into laid back villain. But as the time goes by, his madness was kinda grow into me. Tho, I'm not really convince of his reason and fb, but I get it. It's just—its his fault anyway and he's just projecting it of lacking power etc. But I kinda say that he was kinda distinguisable villain for me. A depiction of a true monster that grew from being something should've not been triggered.
Honorable mention to FL's family, that's a legit fondness and I like it. I'm sad with her auntie and hope for her happiness. I appreciate what she done to FL and her dedication to protect her at all cost. The Eunuch and guard of Crown Prince was solid too. Gosh, love the cast of this series!
This is one of the best series I have ever seen! It dethroned Mr. Queen on my list. BUT don't get me wrong, they are NOT similar (so probably still love these two hihi). More like this was the series that satisfy me in every angle that I always wish for Mr. Queen to happen (You'll know if you're also fan of that series and then watch this).
Overall, it was a nice series and probably rewatch it!
EDIT!
SO, I skimmed the reviews and all I've seen was that it was weird confusing, etc.
In my perspective, it wasn't. I understand what the writers meant with the body switching and it's importance to the plot. You'll see that the FL always get harmed— well in almost all series you've seen especially in historical/fictional series, whether she's a baddass and can handle herself (which is in this seres) or some nice and damsel.
Having the ML get switch at her place gives a development on his character as the series passed by (and kinda vice versa). And experiencing those things was like putting his shoe on her pov and realizing what it was like being with him meant for her.
So, yeah, watch it and ride the weirdness because it was nice! You'll like it. I know it🔥

loved it!
the acting was fantastic between the lead characters. the OST music disc 2 is lovely. best drama I've seen yet w switching bodies. the villain was very instance and exhausting at some point how one person can have so many connections but sometimes that's just how it is in real life too. all characters were great. I get this was a magic fantasy drama but I think it could have gone without the last switching of their bodies. the villain never realized his mistakes either, idk overall I liked it very much I will say the first 5 episodes are the bestWas this review helpful to you?

One of the best from ‘25
One of the best new dramas of 25. If you are ready for a ride, buckle up this drama is it. It’s full of palace, intrigue, betrayal, body swapping, amnesia and that’s just the first few episodes. The acting from the male and female lead are 1000/10. They were both excellent. Their acting was top-tier. Spoiler: but when they body swapped, they both became convincing of the other person. From their mannerisms nuances of facial expressions and overall delivery of the character you felt that they body swapped. Especially how they conveyed the differences of male and female body, Noble and peasant status and overall individual personality trait. On the flipside, the comedic timing from both was impeccable. They both delivered comedic elements without being cheesy or cringe. Now… The villain was villaining. Just when I thought I couldn’t hate him more he proved me wrong. The depth of his brutality was unmatched, and he nailed the unattached psychopath role. The pacing of this drama was well done. I didn’t feel that there were any dead episodes or wasted moments. It flowed in the right way to keep the story engaging but to not linger or over analyze on unimportant things. One thing I appreciated about the ending was they pasted properly? It did not feel like the ending was rushed, and we were able to enjoy moments of each person‘s lives after the main event. Was this review helpful to you?
An absolutely joy of watch.
I liked so much this drama. The OST is on repeat. To listen the voice of Song Sohee is amazing. They offered joy, crying, romance, thriller, comedy. The acting of ML &FL is genuinely amazing and the chemistry between them perfection.
I find interesting also the body switch. They have grown from this in their connection profound love, devotion. I enjoyed a lot the ending, they didn't rush it, they gave each character space to conclude and integrate the story.
Kang Tea Oh is very good in this one.
The only thing that I did not like, is the new actress, for me, Hong Su Zu. She does not know to act. You cant buy the talent.
This year I decided not to trust the MDL rating anymore. And I am glad that I stared this one when had 7.7, now 8, and i thing is diserve an 8.5. I saw half of a Cdrama last week, that has a 9.5 rating and I would give it a 2. Toxicity, over sexualization, and superficiality are glorified and what is deep, artistic, with a story, with talent is underestimated.
so I invite you to give your time to this one. The beauty, the calming of their love.... I like it.

My favorite part is the “But a dream” OST
To start this off, I will say overall this story was nice, the fantasy twist was an inch away from ruining it but it salvaged itself in the end.I think one of my favorite things about this drama is that there was no 2nd leads, it was all a bunch of people in love trying to actually be together, from beginning to end, which in kdramas I genuinely think is unique.
The fantasy part, the body switching, up to episode 12 I genuinely disliked that, I felt like it was such a useless plot addition that changed absolutely nothing. However, in the last 2 episodes I was proven wrong, I’m glad they gave it an actual purpose, them switching bodies before they infiltrated that mountain base was certainly smarter since our FL genuinely won’t have anything to do there. And the body switching in the end, well when you think logically it feels useless since in the end they both are alive, but it tugged on my heartstrings so much.
The villain story pissed me off more than made me sad, like yea I get it too, he did so much for her for all those years, all he wanted was her, seeing him put the vow in her mirror just because maybe it might help her recover her memories was sweet, I also understand him “giving her away” because he believed that the king has money and will definitely spoil her more, BUT, bro did not even try, genuinely if he wanted to at the time, he could have. But I will say amazing acting cause their end did make me feel sorry for them, in the end they both loved each other.
The OSTs are all so good but “But a dream” is such a good song, I’m basically listening to it every day.
So yea overall, this was worth the watch.

Perfect Ending for the leads!
How cute were they on screen?! I enjoyed this so much. Kim Se Jeong did her thing as usual and she and Kang Tae Oh had great chemistry on screen. You can see how much the crown prince loved his wife and I am glad the King wasnt too pushy and forcing him to remarry right away. I know he was kinda being controlled but he knew how much the crown princess meant to his son.
Kim Han Cheol is such an evil person like they could not get a break! For his ending, I wish it was done by Yi Un or Yi Gang.
Overall I am satisfied because we got the perfect ending and the leads are more than happy with their lives.

this will only hit once
i dont believe i could ever rewatch this because the crash outs i was going throught were intense.this drama will leave you angry, sad, mad, confused and aroused.
i intially picked up this up because i saw a bts clip of kim se jeong cuddling with kang tae oh while he was sleeping, and boy, this drama didnt disappoint.
a main part of the story is the freaky fridayness of the drama and the actors didnt fall short of a mark, esp kim se jeong. i was actually immersed into the story, the setting, the film.
if you havent watched this already, do yourself a favour
treat yourself right
learn to love yourself
and watch Moon River
i just wanted to say that the left ministers beard is boneless af

Bound by love, destiny will bring them together again
Romantic and touching moments alternate with more playful ones. From episode 5, they begin to switch bodies and wake up in each other's bodies. I didn't really like this cliché at first, but it actually had its place, and seeing them play each other is remarkable. In this change of persona they were particularly good at acting.
The story itself could be summed up in one word: revenge.
All this mess of deaths, forced poisonings, escapes, and subterfuges started because of a thwarted love.
The question naturally comes to mind: "Have you ever thought of killing this left-wing minister?" It would have solved all the problems and there would have been fewer deaths. But apparently that wasn't possible, and the series would have ended.
PS. I found it "odd" that one character was named Cha Eun Woo, like the actor.
