loving the OST for this show

I went in with doubts of the ml pulling off an historical royalty lead but he is nailing it. I’ve always liked him since Attorney Woo and he can definitely play a romantic lead. I also had my doubts about her the fl but she is perfect playing the troublemaker type character .

I’m enjoying this show. the whole theme of the show of their body switching hasn’t really started yet. I have a feeling it may be like Mr Queen in the way the character deals with their new genders. I loved Mr Queen so I’m good with waiting to see where this goes.

I haven’t seen any reviews about the music! I actually tear up when the main song comes on towards the end of the episode. I have even rewound the episode just to hear it again. I finally downloaded it on Apple Music and can play it anytime.

I think folks just have to remember that this show is tagged as a fantasy.

Fantastic start ruined by weird, unnecessary body swap

I was hooked on this drama by the first few episodes. I loved the premise, I loved the ML’s yearning, and I loved the chemistry between the ML and the FL. Then they randomly switched bodies much too far into the drama and everything fell apart. All of the romantic tension they had suddenly became extremely weird and uncomfortable, considering they were having romantic tension with their own body. It went from a drama with a good balance of humour and seriousness to an overload of humour. I’m really disappointed - if they don’t swap back bodies by the halfway mark of the drama run I’ll be dropping it.

When Soul-Swapping Turns into Viewer-Swapping

Starting with so much promise—an intriguing premise, a stellar cast, and the kind of soul-swapping shenanigans that Kdrama fans live for—it had me hooked. But somewhere around episode 9, I found myself staring at the screen, wondering if my soul had swapped with someone who just couldn’t finish this show. Don’t get me wrong, Kim Se Jeong is a powerhouse. Whether she’s Dal, the Crown Princess, or Crown Prince-in-Dal’s-body, she delivers every time. But let’s be real—she’s born to play Dal, not the Crown Princess. Kang Tae Oh? Halfway there. He nails the angsty, love-struck, spoiled Crown Prince, but his portrayal of Dal felt like a missed memo.

The supporting cast shines, except for you-know-who (yes, the SFL whose acting is as infamous as it is consistent). But honestly, the real villain here is the script. Soul-swapping? Cool. Add in amnesia and years of living as someone else? Now we’re in a maze of confusion. By the time Kim Se Jeong’s character lost her connection to herself, I lost my connection to the show. And when a viewer can’t connect with the lead, well... let’s just say my remote found its way to another drama. It had me at the start, but somewhere along the way, it lost me.

Moon River (2025) – The Same Joseon Drama Again

With an “impressive” start —at least that’s what k-drama lovers will say for likes— Moon River tries to shine in 2025 but ends up recycling everything we’ve already seen a hundred times.
Twenty minutes in, and the only word you hear is “choooona.”
This is a drama directed at people whose sense of humor is as shallow as a 4-year-old’s.

Kim Se-jeong deserves better than another romantic comedy template, but when good roles don’t come, you take what you can get. Brewing Love was already proof of that.
Kang Tae-oh, as usual, looks good and acts little —a pure K-drama model.

Even the supporting cast feels recycled: the same ministers, servants, and conspirators from every Joseon-era drama.
Moon River is 100 % popcorn, 0 % originality, and 0 % entertainment.
Pretty faces trapped in the same old palace.

At first, I thought it would be a waste of time, but I ended up loving it. The story especially was strong enough to keep the audience glued to the screen. Overall, it’s a great drama to enjoy. I loved the main lead’s acting he carried his character so beautifully. I would highly recommend this drama.

Must-Watch Gem

Moon River” kicks off with a charming blend of romance, fantasy and period-drama elements: the soul-swap premise between a crown prince and a merchant sets up fresh narrative possibilities.
he chemistry between the leads, Kang Tae‑oh and Kim Se‑jeong, is widely praised and the early episodes manage to balance humour and emotional underpinning quite well.

On the flip side: some reviewers feel the pacing is a bit slow in setting up the core body-swap premise and court intrigue—and that the tone sometimes veers into broad pantomime.

But overall: if you’re drawn to romantic-fantasy sageuk (period dramas) with a comedic edge, this show is looking promising and well worth dipping into while it’s still airing.

Love it!!!!!

Moon River is an awesome drama! The chemistry between the leads is so lovely. I don’t get why some people only want the same old storylines like fake dating or childhood crushes — ew, I’m so tired of that. And I guess y’all didn’t find this one interesting because the soul-swapping part hasn’t come yet, right? But honestly, I love the story and the acting. It’s totally worth watching!

Love conquers all

Body Swaps if not time travel is a thing of Korean dramas. My first drama with both of these features was Mr. Queen and nothing beat this when it comes to the comedic act of both leads.

But for Moon River, though there may be comedic scenes, the central story revolves around the love story of Gang and Dal I. They may be weak in the past, but five years after they have set their minds to stick together to defeat the Left Minister.

I am in episode 11 at this time of writing, so I don't have any conclusion yet. But having seen Kang Tae Oh and Kim Se Jeong's acting, I am drawn to their characters. They have truly shown a range of emotions not just the way they speak (I only read English Subtitles), the tone, the body language, the facial expressions which makes the story so believable and captivating. Thank you for choosing them to take the leads.

The other characters at play which I think I can't still figure out are:
1. The King - why is he such a weakling? Why can't he do anything to stop the blackmailing of the Left Minister? Does he not anyone else by his side to support him?
2. The daughter of the Left Minister: what does she got to do with the mask person? (The director should have chosen an actress who is fiercer. I find this 2FL having limited facial expression and stiff. Please if anyone reads this review, send her to an actor's workshop)
3. The Left Minister - what drives him to do control the king? Why didn't he take the throne instead?

I love the adoptive parents of Dal I. They are funny, but at the same time you see how protective they are.
I love the Crown Prince's eunuch and guard - they are his ever-trusted sidekicks.

When I finish the whole drama, I shall return to this review for my conclusion.

There are scenes on this drama that really crafted and planned well.

First, the plot is usual one but a little twist, soul swapping between the ML and FL.

Second, I love the cinematography and OSTs. MBC always deliver great sageuk dramas, so I have still lots of expectations on the coming episodes.

Third, Kang Taeoh and Kim Sejeong's pairing and chemistry on this drama is one of the biggest edge of this drama. It is a romcom, yet a melodrama romance for their enduring love.

Will definitely watch until the finale.

It's Garbage.

Kim Sejong, Kang Taeoh and a body swap that hasn't happened yet brought me here and almost lost me in the first episode, I thought it was a bit boring with forced comedy, the weak attempt to hide the fact that the merchant and the princess are the same person is so badly done that it was insulting when the reveal came at the end of the episode. Where we supposed to be surprised?

The second episode was better, it held my attention and made me curious to see where the story will go. The comedy doesn't always land but when it does it's hilarious and it's mostly because Kim Sejong is a master comedian.

I can't really decide yet if this is going to be just OK, if t'll rise to be one of the really good ones or if it'll drop to the bottom of the garbage pile. I am intrigued though so I will be watching next week and I expect a body swap!!

17 minutes into episode 4 and my patience has reached it's limit. I have a very high tolerance for stupid as long as it's entertaining, this is absurd and I didn't even get to the body swap part, I can't even imagine how stupid that will be. I really wanted to stay because I like the actors, but this is embarrassingly bad.
