I've heard people saythe FL in the book is kinda repulsive, so I have high hopes!! I've also been told they have a "he's the voice of reason and she's like... "I've killed a bitch and I'll do it again"" kinda dynamic and that she's always dominant because she likes to push his limits in many ways... Soooo....

OKAY SO ITS NOT JUST ME!!!!!! He looks so needy and... idk, I feel like she might've been in danger before this scene because there's this look of relief on his face, but also concern?

She's doing the actions, but her face and voice are just giving "pretty" much like the actress in The Princess Decree.

I thoroughly agree, though. Especially after seeing the incredible performances of so many talented actresses that portrayed similar-style villains in the past. She isn't giving me domineering. Hell, she's barely giving me anything other than *blink blonk stare*

CAST CRISTY GUO, COWARDS!!!! 

Also, yes to the voices... I'm so tired of the soft uwu voices or baby voices... Give me MLs that sound soft and FLs with low, gritty voices- PLS (side note, but you know who has a soft voice? SML from The Blossoming Love. And I didn't realize until I heard him how unusual it is for a ML to actually be softspoken. He's quite soothing to listen to).

With that said, I still enjoyed the teaser and added the drama to my PTW. With this many RR scenes, I'm optimistic too. Wish we had a release date. There are so many good RRs in the pipeline, and I'm anxious to enjoy them!

But yeah, there are a lot of dramas to look forward to, and I'll continue to post about more that I find sometime!! There are also a bunch of kdramas that seem promising (sadly, they don't post much promo material until it actually airs)

If I'm remembering correctly, Simi may have gotten her start with T-dramas too. (It was either that or J-dramas).

T-dramas were soooo popular back in the day, and while Taiwan wasn't the first country to do a live action adaptation of the infamous "Boys Over Flowers", their version was the first to take over Asia.

Watch the first two or three minutes of this fan-made trailer, and you'll see what I was dealing with 😂 The ML was a piece of 💩, but the FL was quick to throw hands, so it was the closest thing to a strong FL/RR I had back then. I wanted FL to be with the SML so bad (even though he wasn't great either, just the lesser of two evils). But ahhh, nostalgia.

I generally am, but the humor in dramas tends to be slapstick comedy, which isn't my thing. I prefer dry/sarcastic humor

And which novels have you read? Any you'd recommend?

I've read a good chunk of the RR novels out there, but it's hard to find ones I like because they're usually PWPs (porn without plot) and/or heavy into the degradation kink. I've really enjoyed these though:

• His Secret Illuminations by Scarlett Gale

FL is a mercenary called the "She-Wolf" (isn't that cool???) and ML is a sheltered monk. He leaves the monastery for the first time to go on an adventure with her, and find this hidden manuscript. ML is adorable, and smaller and weaker than FL. His mental growth during their adventure is written really well too. There's a sequel and a third book on the way, but I haven't read either yet.

• Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert

I mean...look at this blurb from the summary: Chastity Adofo knows a monster when she sees one. As soon as Luke Anthony wanders into her family’s coffee shop, she recognises the evil lurking beneath his charming smile and fantastic arse.

'Nuff said! 

But seriously, I'm not usually into paranormal/monster romances, but this was soooo funny, chaotic, and cute. I had a good time, and the author actually put some effort into the lore even though it's a short story. The novella's spicy, but it's only one scene. The focus is on the fact that the FL (Chastity) is a wolf shifter hunter and ML is a wolf. 

I love Talia Hibbert because most of her couples are RR-coded, and she often writes stubborn, smart, and assertive FLs and cinnamon roll MLs.

• The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Now...this would be a big investment because it's pure fantasy and there are three novels, but god is it good. I avoided it for years because I stubbornly thought it was simply ML bully x FL victim, and the ML does bully FL, but she's a great fighter + power hungry, and things do not end up going well for ML even though she's just a human and he's a fae prince. He gets obsessed with her, and she ends up using him like a puppet, killing multiple people who are close to him 💀, and generally putting him last while he falls head over heels for her ruthlessness. It's one of my favorite book series. 

So, take your pick and let me know when you get around to them.

It's a more niche queer term that I've discovered lately. Stands for Heterosexual Gender Non-conformity. Has a lot of overlap with role reversal, but they're different things. I use hetgnc because both leads fall outside of the gender norm, especially in the way they present (ML, especially with being very feminine (also in appearance), and FL by being attracted to his femininity)

I posted about it a while back 'cause I was anticipating it and uncharacteristically started it when it started airing. I watched until episode 15 before putting it on hold.

I obviously have my reservations about a lot, hence why it was put on hold, but the dynamic between the leads was quite cute. FL is the true MC, and she's a strong and reckless warrior type, while ML is more like her pretty, worrying sidekick. It's investigation-focused with an episodic-like format (1 case every couple of episodes), and so far, the romance was mostly implied, but still pretty good. 

And we got scenes like this:

The cases were entertaining, though the first one was pretty underwhelming. They're... violence against women-focused, though, so tread carefully. 

Glory is more romance-focused, from what I hear. Eager to start it, but I haven't yet. Unveil: Jadewind is the only RR drama that's currently airing as far as I know, so you're in luck xD

I'm kinda surprised this trope isn't more common considering it's a fairly popular trope in the RR community... 

Yup, RR content with this trope is almost non-existent. "I'm Dating an Outcast" is the first time I've seen it in a drama. We usually just get full-on adult harassment (Forever Love, Love Like Ashes...etc.) instead of "bullying".

I've seen the trope pop up more in RR novels, but even then it's not a lot.

So, like I said, you're one of fiction's strongest soldiers. My attention span probably could never, but one day I think I'd be willing to try. I'm not a big fan of political dramas, but I do love 3-dimensional characters and the exploration of interpersonal relationships. Pair that with some good RR, and those aspects might be enough to get me through the scheming officials.

This is one of my most-hated ML archetypes—especially when paired with a FL who is also bland, but bad at everything. And this is a very popular pairing. 

(Honestly, I think I also have PTSD from an old Taiwanese drama called "It Started with A Kiss". The ML and FL were the embodiment of this pairing, but I stuck with the drama because it was one of my firsts and I was young. I liked a lot of other stuff about the drama though, and the SML was an angel on earth).

Why do you think I'm obsessed with him? That's exactly how he acts with the FL. 

There's one episode where he saves FL from a group of assassins (who she'd valiantly fought on her own for a while before he got there) on a ship. The ship explodes, and she turns around and saves him from drowning. When he wakes up, he's sulking, sputtering, and pouting because he thinks FL "stole" his first kiss (aka CPR). He was absolutely scandalized. Mind you, this is a grown man and a "bloodthirsty" prince.

Does she really stay like this the whole drama? Cause sign me up! (And her having to stand up on her tippy toes was a cute little detail. She's small but mighty).

I've been enjoying the pool

I really miss having the option to visit a pool while living in the city. The only swimming facility available to us here is the one at the YMCA. lol As someone who has a fear of water that she can't see through, I find that the pool is my only escape. haha There are a few activities I enjoy. I would happily spend hours swimming and biking — another favorite pastime. When I moved into my new apartment, I was thrilled to be just two blocks away from a lovely promenade. As spring approaches, I can't wait to buy a bike and spend countless hours wandering along the waterfront. Perhaps I'll even venture out to go fishing, something I haven't done in quite some time.

OHH Unveil: Jadewind was one of my top picks for the year, and I totally lost track of its release. I really need to start watching it. Fluffy historical romances aren't usually my thing. I confess I prefer a bit of distance, and a strong female lead is exactly what I enjoy.

I appreciate the warning. Generally, I'm fine with content like this as long as I mute the scenes and focus on the subtitles. Occasionally, they can get a bit excessive with the violence, making it feel too realistic, and at that moment, I tend to disengage. While I do enjoy certain violent moments, I primarily watch the series as a form of escape, not to be abruptly reminded of reality.

Glory is more romance-focused

I claim I’m not into fluffy romance, and then you bring up this one. Sure, it’s on my watchlist, but I’m really not sure how I’ll feel about the female lead. The trailer didn’t give me much to work with, so I’m left guessing how this will unfold.

 One thing’s for sure, I can’t stand historical dramas with a submissive female lead. That’s exactly why I wasn’t a fan of the lead in  When Destiny Brings the Demon. I know I’m gonna catch so much flak for saying that, since that drama was adored by so many, but I just didn’t get it.  I know many wouldn't consider Moonlight Mystique to have a weak female lead, but I  disagree the only thing strong about her was her plot armor! 

 And I know its not considered an RR title but don’t even get me started on Legend of the Female General; that one was such a letdown. I only kept watching for Ryan Cheng. LOL

And don’t even get me started on the morally gray twists in these plots. But , they lost me at 70— I’m with  you Potato on this one. There’s no way I’m sitting through all thoughts episodes, my attention span could ever, 40 episodes at most and that's it . LMAO 

PS, I just have to say, your GIFs are totally killing me! I honestly thought I was the only one who enjoyed using them, but I adore seeing yours. Hyper analyzing this kinda stuff is fantastic because I get to re-experience and appreciate the goodness on a whole new level.

Noticed this too. I've only seen more bold scenes in dramas that weren't like... made to be popular, if that makes sense. And I feel like with this one, they're going down that route (made to be popular, that is). I also heard somewhere that it's a romcom which... MMMMMMMMMight not be for the best for us 😭 but tbh, idc as long as it's decent and they don't make fun of the RR (I trust Japan enough to at least not do this *side eyes China*)

I do know about it, but I never could figure out which one I was 'cause I get wildly different results every time I take it xD If you have a link, idm taking it again and at least seeing what it is now
