Omg, I'm so glad I found this club, I love a good RR and I now have a ton of new recs. Happy to meet you all!

 Arclei:
Let me know if you want different titles/from different countries. Totally no hard feelings.

I am definitely going to add these titles to my watchlist! Yes, tackling 54 episodes of "Secret of Three Kingdoms" will be quite a challenge, but since it's the only lengthy one you've suggested, I believe if I pace myself with one episode a day, it should be manageable. I've already watched "Love and Leashes," so I think I need another recommendation. Please and thank you, haha!

 Arclei:
So it was a trope bingo and we could check off which titles we watched that matched?

Yes, it was, but I might need to save it for next year. I haven't watched that many RR titles , haha.

 Arclei:
I have only 10 prompts tho...

I can review them once you share, and if you'd like, I can add two more. If you're looking for different options, just let me know, and I'll come up with something else.

Hello, it's great to meet you. Are there any RR dramas you're currently watching that you find interesting?

Hello!

I still haven't watched many recently (since I'm still new to the genre, and dramas in general) but I'm currently a few episodes in to Hotel Del Luna, and I'm liking it so far!

Hotel Del Luna, and I'm liking it so far!

Oh, you just jogged my memory! I never completed this one. I believe I watched half of it and then completely forgot about it. I do recall enjoying it, so when I decide to watch it again, I'll have to start from the beginning since I don't remember many of the details.

Hello hellooooooo! Welcome to the club! Be sure to take a look around if you haven't already, and hope you enjoy your stay!

Happy to meet you too! ^^ Glad you found us, and we were able to explode your ptw :P

 Simi_Tutu:
so I think I need another recommendation

I apparently wasn't checking your watched list as well as I thought, that's my bad! ;-; I'm still used to the old watchlist format where it loads all the titles at once, haha

Okay, I'll get you another

  • A Dream like the True Love - It was a tie between this one and DLX, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to recommend this drama. The leads have a somewhat RR kinda dynamic, but the circumstances are really RR, and that makes it a very unusual watch. The leads are super healthy, and FL is very protective of ML (tho it is quite mutual haha).

AHAHAHA totally understandable. I have a trope bingo I could share that I'd been working on and y'all can let me know if I missed anything ^^ Could be fun to participate even if you didn't watch a lot. Maybe you just happened to watch enough to get the bingo? XD

Sounds like a plan! I'll make the post in a lil bit

  • You can either do one prompt every other day and finish by the 23rd, you can start on the 13th and finish on the 24th, or you can follow the actual 12 days of Christmas, start on the 25th of Dec and finish on the 5th on Jan.
  • I do ask that if you're going to be adding pictures to please use the "insert table" feature so that images aren't too big and posts are easier to scroll through.
  • Feel free to skip prompts.
  • All nominees must be from titles you consumed to some degree in 2025. Even if it was starting them or finishing them.
  • Have fun!

12 Days of RR Highlights

Update: While updating my RR watch challenge, I thought that it would be nice to have a question for how many RR titles each person ended up actually watching this year, so I made that the 12th one. I also added a cheeky 13th prompt to nominate the worst RR title of the year XD

 Arclei:
how many RR titles each person ended up actually watching this year,

Oh  Nooo , I'm sobbing on the inside. My stats are downright tragic. I think I've only managed like three or four this year. lol I'm mortified, I'm completely clueless when it comes to determining if any of the shows  are actually RR titles. I've devoured nearly 90 dramas this year alone, so it's hard for me to see the numbers and accept more dramas aren't considered RR.

 Simi_Tutu:

That's still good! Don't beat yourself up over not watching more, haha. You watch what you enjoy. I'd be lying if I said RR dramas are known for being high-quality productions. A lot of these I would not watch if it weren't for the dynamic, lol 😂

You'll get the hang of it. I've been in RR/HetGNC spaces a lot, and what's considered RR varies a lot from person to person.

Generally speaking, the common definition is the following: Relationship dynamics where the traditional gender roles are reversed. Usually, women who are more assertive, dominant, and masculine, and men who are more gentle, submissive, and feminine.

Basically, if it's het and seems 'other' compared to traditional couples, then it's probably RR. Like, even egalitarian have RR vibes even if they don't strictly fall under the RR umbrella.

There's definitely more to it, but we start getting into more complicated/confusing territory about HetGNC (heterosexual gender nonconformity). If you want to know more, let me know, and I'll try and explain it to the best of my abilities ^^

I definitely know the feeling xD Last year was kinda like that for me, so I made it my goal this year to watch more things I actually like rather than trying to chase challenges, and it helped tremendously. But it's also different for me, since I only started watching asian dramas because of role reversal, so that kinda always seems to be my center.

Currently Watching : Qingchuan's Veil of Vengeance

This series has to be one of the best short length series I've ever watched! No over-the-top acting or unnecessary drama just to tick off a trope box. It's a slow burn, a thrilling tale of master and Disciple. A revenge plot with a hidden identity that is executed flawlessly. The pacing of the plot is just right, allowing you to stay engaged without feeling frustrated by irrelevant scenes that don’t push the story forward.

The female lead is one of the strongest characters I’ve seen this year, and our male lead  is absolutely adorable! He’s loyal, passionate, and reserved, but when the moment calls for it, he springs into action. Honestly, if these two don’t end up together with their happily ever after, I’m going to be so upset I might just flip some tables! Just look at them!

The reason I’m so invested is that their connection is so beautifully subtle. Those eye glances and the way they understand each other without a single word spoken—there are no arguments, no misunderstandings. All I’m asking for is that nobody betrays the other. That’s it!

Oh, and there's this side character who totally tugs at my heartstrings!  Seriously, all he really craves is a warm hug or a sprinkle of validation from the woman he adores. *sad face*

This was definitely a great series.
