Final Thoughts : Qingchuan's Veil of Vengeance
Oh my goodness, I nearly had a heart attack! I completely overlooked the fact that there was an ending credit scene. When the final episode wrapped up, I was left thinking, hold on a second! This can’t possibly be the conclusion, can it? Are there additional episodes? I rushed to verify, and to my disappointment, there were no more! I thought, no way, that can’t be the way it finishes! I need some clarity! Then I scrolled a bit further and felt a wave of relief wash over me when I discovered that there was indeed this final scene, because I might have just ended up sobbing in the corner. LMAO!
So, what’s my ultimate rating? It’s undoubtedly a 10 out of 10! This series had me hook line
and sinker from beginning to end. I didn’t skip a single scene, and if you know me, that’s nothing short of a miracle! Surprisingly, I found myself not disliking any of the villains; typically, in a series, at least one villain has me wanting to bang my head against the wall out of sheer frustration. This is often due to either the acting being so exaggerated that it becomes laughable, making it hard to take them seriously, or their motivations being so uninteresting that they fail to justify their actions.
However, in this series, the actors portraying the antagonists delivered their performances exceptionally well, and I actually appreciated the writing for their characters. I felt content with their conclusions, except for Feng Shiye— he deserved to endure a thousand cuts, branding, a horse trampling , an arrow to the head, or perhaps even being taken out by the very people he was manipulating with that ridiculous bell! You name it! But the way he was defeated with just one slice of a sword? No way, not sorry! The twist involving Mo Qing Chuan's fourth sword technique was unexpected, but it simply didn’t provide the satisfaction I was hoping for. He was eliminated far too swiftly. I found myself sitting here, staring at my laptop, thinking, 'Is that it? That’s all he gets? What happened to the severe vengeance?' She had promised him you know, for everything he had done to her, and all she gave him was one cut. Seriously?
Am I to
understand that Daxia has completely taken control of Chu? It’s slipping my mind—was there another prince of Chu who spoke about peace between the two kingdoms with Emperor Xia Qiye? Or did Mo Qing Chuan simply ascend to the throne, resulting in the unification of both nations? I’m uncertain; the conclusion is somewhat perplexing, but honestly, I’m not too bothered because the way our golden retriever Qi Guang embraced her? A girl swooned so hard she got goosebumps! My cheeks are aching from grinning! I’m absolutely thrilled for them! Now, all we need is that one last scene with our girl Jiang Kui sharing more sweets with her girl in white. That connection? I didn’t anticipate it, but I’m completely on board with it! Haha!
