Hi everyone! Was taking a long break from dramas recently. How high would you recommend this? )
It’s great if you like unpredictable plots with lots of twists. Though female characters here are shown flawed and a bit on the dumb side on purpose.
Watch this quickly as Vietnam is asking for the drama to be pulled over historical inaccuracies. https://tuoitrenews.vn/news/ttnewsstyle/20221005/vietnam-asks-netflix-to-block-south-korean-tv-drama-little-women-over-history-distortions/69411.html
I had the drunk woman trope explained to me once but still don't understand it. Apparently, if a woman can be…
I've seen news recently that Japan now wants to promote alcohol industry on state level because citizens aren't drinking enough and it's big tax money. So maybe something like that happened in SK as well.
Also, if as woman I'd have found myself in situations kdramas FLs get themselves into after getting sloshed, I'd be absolutely mortified and wouldn't come near alcohol ever again. As alcohol advertisments to women these scenes absolutely don't work. Proper commercials make products look appealing, cool and beneficial. There's nothing like this shown in any of these tropey "wasted" scenes - they just show the ugly, embarassing side of those who consumes alcohol, not something any woman or man would want to show about themselves irl. Maybe it's reverse commercial to show dangers of alcohol consumption and critique of drinking culture? Or maybe it's just done in every kdrama for cheap giggles.
Personally, I stopped finding these scenes funny dozens of dramas ago and just accept them with second hand embarrassment as the inevitable incoming trope.
I'm thinking that the torture master in hiding, whom Gi Do is looking for and who is supposed to be the next victim according to him, is the dumplings restaurant owner. And the amnesiac guy with dead wife was his victim. Maybe the torture master has had a change of heart by taking him in, or maybe he's using the amnesiac guy to murder people for revenge.
But next victim I think is going to be the police chief. As soon as FL gets involved with the victims through cases they die soon after. But it's no longer sus because apparently ML involves her in these cases on purpose. He seems to be a complicated character - he's likely investigating Gi Do's inner circle of crime buddies and wants FL to make amends for working for these scum.
They are leaning with hints to either main lead or restaurant owner as the killer...but we are way tooo early…
Looks like ML is investigating all those bad guys, but he's def not the killer - it's not only shown as too obvious to the audience, but he's also the prime suspect by the police already. If he's the killer then there's no intrigue. No self respecting crime story plot would be like that, it's usually some side guy nobody thought about.

Product placements are never subtle in kdramas, but alcohol brands are rarely openly advertised in them. If it's meant to popularize alcohol consumption in general then why target mostly female characters getting wasted and subsequently getting into embarassing situations? Also doesn't look right, because it's both sexist and doesn't target the other half of the population. I think it all started as a way to advertise their food and alcohol consumption culture in general and ended up becoming a staple trope that continues to be amusing only for native Koreans. The rest of the world that is aware of severe side effects of alcoholism, especially for females, are just watching with second hand embarassment.
Haven't you watched any dramas with similar plot? It's too obvious that ML is the killer, because he isn't. Like…
It's unlikely it's Gi Do himself, because the killer is younger with black hair. Maybe it's somebody we don't know about yet. Maybe it's his consultant who has an affair with his wife. Or maybe it's the amnesiac dumplings restaurant worker.
So Its obvious Sibaek is killer and his motive is also clear to take down idiots associated with Jangsan. Looks…
Haven't you watched any dramas with similar plot? It's too obvious that ML is the killer, because he isn't. Like in many similar plots it's gonna turn out he's not the killer, screenwriters are just trying to allude that he is with misdirections to keep the audience guessing. The real killer is somebody in Gi Do's inner circle, clearing the way for Gi Do to become a politician.

It's not a kdrama if there's no wasted FL scene in it, preferrably followed up by piggyback scene. Apparently it's supposed to be funny, but just shows that SK has a serious alcoholism problem - they're indeed in top 10 of the global charts irl.
What if it's necessary for the plot? And leads do have great chemistry, so why not 🙄
I agree, but some people for whatever reasons just don't like romance in dramas and movies of any kind. Or are afraid that it will eat too much time out of the main plot, in this case - legal cases. But this drama is not a rom-com specifically, even if there will be some romance I very much doubt it will be detrimental to the plot. So again, why not.
Personally, I find the leads interactions to be the real highlight of this drama, not the cases. Yea, ML is weird and the way he resolves them is unique, but if he was doing it alone it would be half as funny. ML's deadpan sarcasm rises to new levels while interacting with FL and her hilarious facial expressions and reactions are priceless. It's already a funny relationship, let's see where it leads. My bet they'll become friends and FL won't go to grandpa's law firm in the end, but will become a permanent employee at ML's weird law practice. But if there's gonna be more I'm not gonna complain.
Also, this drama is only 12 episodes total, so things are moving at a good pace.
