Jung somin may be a character of jin Byeon because jin leader said that she needed to be alive not naksu soul.
Yea, she's not dead yet. It was specifically shown mama Jin is still after her and some women fished her out of the lake before she even hit the bottom.
Why are you guys so sure Mu-Deok/Bu-Yeon is actually dead? She didn't even petrify completely (and even that is not the end as was shown earlier), she was swiftly fished out of the lake by two women. Probably servants of Jin clan. Somebody will do some magical mumbo-jumbo in part 2 to revive Naksu's og body, Bu-Yeon may as well be revived and separated from her finally. Mama Jin won't give up on her daughter no matter what - you've seen it. And she finally added two and two and got Mu-Deok in the end, lol.
WoW!! There are comments over flowing!!, By still, it doesn't change the fact that everyone are looking for mudeok!!…
Her father was papa Jin all along, he was duped. And how she was revived is still a mystery. Maybe got ancient priestess' soul from the ice stone or smth.
But overall for part 1 I can't give this show more than 8.5. -Minus 0.5 for heavily dragging the plot out in the later half just to make it a whooping 20 episodes, especially with that fake Bu-Yeon subplot. -Minus 0.5 for the crazy ending plot twist out of the blue and doing Bu-Yeon/Mu-Deok dirty - she didn't deserve any of this. Thankfully, she may very well be alive in part 2 because mama Jin finally figured something out right for the first time in her life π. She won't give up on her daughter no matter what it seems. It looked like her female servants fished Mu-Deok out of the lake before she petrified. -And minus 0.5 for lots of dangling loose ends that made the ending not only crazy, but for a finale rather unsatisfying. Jin Mu didn't get his comeuppance, but evaded justice with his silver tongue again. So-i's still alive, maybe will get a redemption arc. Yul is in deep shit with that nasty worm inside him. CP did a very dumb thing out of jealousy, but will he regret it or will he turn evil? Naksu's fate - ????
Wtf, was that crazy ending? π€ͺ Did they just copy "red wedding" here for extra angst? πππ€£ In any case, nobody of importance actually died except for papa Jin, but that's karma and poetic justice for him - his own daughter did the deed. The rest in spoilers below:
Returning back to Jang Kang's dumb reveal and death scene: 1. Why was he still a soul shifter after shifting back to his own body? Is this permanent? Once you get soul shifted, you're f*cked? Will it concern Naksu as well when she returns to her own body? 2. If he was a soul shifter, how did he stay alive all these years? Did he "eat" other people's energy too? 3. Why when he died he not only turned to stone but conveniently disintegrated so that he could not be revived? 4. Why was the subplot about him searching for Cho Yeong dropped entirely? 5. Why the death of papa Cho was left unexplored?
That's the main thing that's bothering me about JSM's departure, I prepared myself for the FL switch but I didn't…
Doesn't matter newbie or veteran - it's a lead role - it had to be done properly for whole 20 episodes otherwise this whole show would have been a trainwreck. I'm sure showrunners understood the show would have failed if FL wouldn't have been able to captivate the audience with her performance.

Yea, why bother giving her such an intricate backstory and waste so much plot time on her, and even introducing her "fake" for many episodes, only to kill her off without even introducing her properly as a character to other characters. Later half of the show was all about Bu-Yeon, it even made me question who's real FL now and about whom this story really is about. Started to look like it was a story about the return of the prodigal daughter or smth. Even Naksu weren't given so much time on her character backstory and prior relationships.
Yea, I feel like one of this drama's biggest faults is overhyping characters and plot resolutions - they create this huge buildup, circle around the issue for many episodes, but in the end fail to deliver on the expectations. Yesterday's episode, for example, was the epitomy of this - Jang Kang got his atrocious 5 minutues of fame and croaked, no explanations or goodbyes from him, not even a cool action scene or smth. And shaman villain was exposed completely by coincidence when Dang Gu and Cho Yeon conveniently arrived to the right place at the right time, no amount of prior investigations gave any evidence.
And how she was revived is still a mystery. Maybe got ancient priestess' soul from the ice stone or smth.
