They explained that too. He grew the wealth multifold. And they killed his daughter.
Yea, grandpa was an instant noodle factory worker who married a woman who owned it. But then he was the one who made a whole conglomerate empire based off of that. If they were living with their mom, they'd likely be still that one factory heirs, or went bankrupt because noodle competition is big in SK and they look to be incompetent on their own. It was even mentioned how much they'd really be getting if it wasn't for grandpa. Furthermore, they were hostile, spoiled brats to grandpa who tried raising them as his own. And finally, they killed his real daughter whom he found later in life.
They're just greedy, evil bishes who totally deserve what's coming to them. If it will be proven that they killed a person for inheritance, they'll not only go to jail, but their rights for that inheritance will be forfeit by law. FL just gotta find the evidence now.
Am I the only one who liked the 3rd & 4th episodes? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ It's still entertaining, and I love the cutesy/funny…
Hye Ji looks like rather creepy, tbh. Like she's not all there, lol. Makes her look like she either has some mental condition, or acts like she has one.
wait they're seven?? how'd i miss that? Then what are they doing in a kindergarten and why does a town of 15000…
Yea, I don't know wtf this is, but you can check for yourself when FL was teaching self-defense class to the kids she mentioned they were seven. And ML also mentioned his son is seven, and he's one of the kindergarden kids. Also, kindergarden looks more like day care for toddlers, tbh. There weren't even desks, just toys everywhere.
It would be a great plot twist if grandpa is not actually dead and that he set this whole thing up to see what the evil brats would do to FL and to get evidence on them. Nobody except the lawyer saw his body with a head wound. He could have paid coroners and whomever else to fake his death. And he def planned something with his lawyer by filming his death on the phone, which the lawyer now holds. Unfortunately I don’t think the plot is gonna be that smart. Could have been cool though…
The first two episodes made me think it's gonna be some sort of serious revenge thriller drama, but turns out it's just makjang in the countryside setting with unconvenional FL's backstory, however ridiculous it may be. They didn't make FL convincing enough as a bodyguard, should have shown her to be more pro, she looked weak, tbh. And her stone face looks like it'd scare the little kids, she also has no clue how to be a kindergarden teacher, but whatever, it looks like it's just a silly comedy in the end. Also, I agree with other commenters about ML - he doesn't look like a single dad of a seven year old. He looks more like he barely finished high school or smth. Also, da hell seven year olds are still doing in the kindergarden? Shouldn't they be in pre-school or school first grade already?
News about IU sending food trucks or some other cheap shit to her actors buddies are being published around once a month on this site. Her PR staff are consistent, I give them that, but aren't you getting bored already?
I really liked FL's recent drama Our Unwritten Seoul and tried to give this one another go after several prior tries. And, hotdamn, was it a boring, overacted slog. This drama's not even that old, but it's very old school. They don't film or act them like this one anymore, thankfully. And it's not even actors fault, I've seen them acting very well in other, more recent dramas. I'm not sure I can even give this one a 7, overhyped af. I've also tried watching this drama's recent sequel about FL's relative who lived in Mongolia for a long time, but couldn't even finish that one, it was just boring trash.
Since it's all beyond the scope of this drama, it doesn't help with overall impression at all here. It would have been interesting to see how ML appeared in the modern times wearing his old garments and being all clueless, showrunners could have made a few more episodes about that. But as it is, he just appeared all confident and dandy, like he lived in modern times all his life and nothing about him was explained. Just made the ending worse, imho, because his weird appearance immediately raises dubious thoughts about whether it's all a dream in FL's head. Personally, I would have been more fine with an ending where FL simply meets a similar loooking guy, no need to explain much that way.
It just doesn’t make sense. He appeared like he was living some high life since birth in the modern time. Not like how FL did in his time - with anachronistic clothes and no knowledge of what’s going on. Did he take some other guy’s place? Or magically inserted himself with all the credentials? Even if it’s magic, writers should have made it consistent. Otherwise it just looks weird and surreal, especially with other cooks also appearing in modern times. Makes one think that FL is still in coma, living a bizarro life in her dreams or smth like that.
I didn’t like the last 2 episodes. Everything starting from dowager’s birthday party up until FL returning back in time felt forced, overacted and written as if by a 12 year old. Competent political intrigue plots are rare in saeguks, this one here is somewhere at the bottom. The ending was predictable, but I didn’t like that it wasn’t explained how ML went to the future as well, with all his memories seemingly intact. Should have spent less time on boring evil bishes twirling their mustaches and more on the main couple. Anyway, this drama had lots of potential in the beginning, was pretty funny. But then food took over as the main character and it started to get boring. Remove all the food porn scenes going on here and evil mofos plotting their plots, and there’s actually very little that was going on between the leads to make any sort of impression.
Any recommendations for a comedy that's as unhinged as this was?
I don't think there's any really that is exactly like this drama. Lots of boss+secretary ones with skewed relationships, but nothing as crazy or unhinged as this one. But if you want a good laugh about work colleagues turning from enemies to lovers I'd recommend Gaus Electronics. That one is absolutely hilarious and there are some pretty unhinged shenanigans.
I’m spamming the comments but I’m rly worried about the ending LOL For some reason I’m afraid the son is…
I’m wondering how the f could that have happened, but judging by all the crazies in her husband’s family it’s quite plausible. That would make her mother-in-law and mistress totally unhinged though.
Furthermore, they were hostile, spoiled brats to grandpa who tried raising them as his own.
